A first aid training course prepares you to deal with a range of medical emergencies, from common injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and burns to major injuries such as trauma to the head and cardiac arrest.

After completion of this course participant

4. WHAT IS FIRST AID?
First Aid is the initial assistance or
treatment given to a casualty for any
injury or sudden illness before the
arrival of an ambulance, doctor,
nurse or other medical qualified
person.
5. ACTION AT AN EMERGENCY
» Assess the situation – Quickly and calmly,
observe what has happened, and look for danger to yourself,
to the casualty & bystanders.
» Make the area safe – Protect the casualty to from
danger as far as you can, but be aware of your limitations.
» Give emergency aid – Assess all casualties to
determine treatment priorities, and treat those with life-
threatening conditions first.
» Make correct diagnosis

» Get help from others – Quickly make sure that any
necessary medical aid or other expert help has been called and is
on its way.
