Behavior Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Behavior" can be both challenging and fascinating. On one
hand, behavior is a complex and multifaceted subject that encompasses a wide range of
phenomena, including psychological, sociological, and biological aspects. This complexity can
make it difficult to narrow down the focus and structure of the essay. Additionally, behavior is
influenced by various factors such as genetics, environment, culture, and personal experiences,
adding another layer of intricacy to the analysis.
Furthermore, exploring behavior requires a deep understanding of relevant theories, research
findings, and methodologies from disciplines like psychology, sociology, anthropology, and
neuroscience. Integrating these diverse perspectives coherently within the essay while
maintaining clarity and originality can pose a significant challenge.
Moreover, writing about behavior often involves grappling with ethical considerations,
particularly when discussing controversial topics or sensitive issues such as aggression,
addiction, mental health disorders, or social deviance. Balancing academic rigor with sensitivity
and respect for the individuals and communities affected by these behaviors requires careful
thought and deliberation.
Despite these challenges, delving into the study of behavior can be intellectually stimulating and
rewarding. It offers opportunities to gain insights into human nature, social dynamics, and the
mechanisms underlying individual and collective actions. By engaging critically with the topic,
one can develop a deeper understanding of oneself and others, fostering empathy, tolerance, and
constructive dialogue.
In conclusion, writing an essay on behavior demands thoughtful analysis, interdisciplinary
perspective, ethical awareness, and effective communication skills. While it may be challenging,
the process can be enriching and enlightening, offering valuable insights into the complexities of
human behavior and society.

Essay about Analysis of A Clockwork Orange
Analysis and Interpretation of A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, is one of the most experimental,
original, and controversial novels of the twentieth century. It is both a compelling
work of literature and an in depth study in linguistics. The novel is a satirical,
frightening science fiction piece, not unlike others of this century such as George
Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four or Aldous Huxley s Brave New World. However, the
conflicts and resolutions in A ClockworkOrange are more philosophical than social,
and its message is far more urgent.
A Clockwork Orange is made up of three parts containing 21 chapters, 21 being the
official age of human maturity. It is a stream of consciousness novel... Show more

In Nadsat, orange means man (which is derived from the Malay word orang,
meaning man ), so a clockwork orange would be a man moving without pause or
thought, as a clockwork (Lund). Burgess says of the title, I mean it to stand for the
application of a mechanistic morality to a living organism oozing with juice and
sweetness ( Resucked x). After the state reforms him, the novel s hero and narrator
Alex becomes a clockwork orange, a man working as a machine.
Nadsat is the primary language, although not the exclusive one, of A Clockwork
Orange. Burgess claims he uses it to muffle the raw response we expect from
pornography. But he also uses it to create a literary adventure ( Resucked x). The
use of Nadsat emphasizes many of the struggles involved with A Clockwork Orange
s purpose. The struggle between the old and the young the conservative and the
progressive is made more sensational by the separation of language. Alex is
misunderstood by his parents, the police, and the government philosophically, but
also literally, widening the gap between him and the sane world.
Burgess also manipulates language in A Clockwork Orange in more traditional ways,
in the form of literary and linguistic devices. The novel is saturated with irony and
dark humor, dotted with repetition, and laced with word play.
Irony is used extensively A Clockwork Orange. One of the most repeated and
significant examples of irony is in Alex s description
Human Epigenetic Consequences
Although not often discuessed in grade school, evolutionary mechanisms span further
than simply the inheritance of A T C G DNA nucleotides from our parents.
Epigenetics is a specialized field within genetics that focuses on the evolutionary
changes induced by genetic factors, such as transposons, and how they can cause an
alteration of geneexpression and disease. The study of the human epigenome is still
relatively new, and exponentially advancing. With this being said, researchers still
have questions regarding this complex evolutionary mechanism s implications in
microevolution, and potentially macroevolution (Skinner, 2015). One major
constituent of epigenetic study are transposable elements (also called transposons, or
jumping genes).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One common technique used to study Alu insertion polymorphisms within genomes
utilizes polymerase chain reactions (PCR) in combination with agarose gel
electrophoresis (Asari, 2012). PCR is utilized initially, in order to selectively amplify
DNA sequences containing the Alu insertion. This technique employs sequence
specific primers and taq polymerase in order to carry out successive rounds of
elongation (essentially, DNA replication). Once this is complete, it is common to
use agarose gel electrophoresis and UV light to visualize the bands of separated
DNA. In terms of this experiment, cheek cells were obtained from UNR students in
the Biology 395 lab. Using the two described techniques, genotypic frequencies were
calculated for the human specific Alu insertion on chromosome 16: homozygous for
the insertion (+/+) heterozygous for the insertion (+/ ), and homozygous for the
absence of insertion ( / ). As stated previously, the Alu element is the most abundant
SINE in the human genome, with over 1 million copies accounting for 10% of the
entire genome (Price, Eskin Pevzner, 2004). From this fact, we deduce that we will
result in rejection of the null hypothesis stating that students in the Biology 395 lab
are in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium for the Alu
Death In Judaism
Not all regions where Jews live celebrate life and death in the same way. This is
because Jews had to assimilate to local cultures after they began to disperse to
various parts of the world. This caused traditions to be pushed aside all together or
to be blended with local cultures (Parkes, page 99). However, there are many core
values that never faded and area consistently practiced in most parts of the world.
Deathin Judaismis an important part of life. As described in Death and Bereavement
Across Cultures, Two of the most important commandments in Jewish tradition are to
honor the dead and comfort the mourner. (98) Respect for the dead is known as,
kavod ha met and the comfort given to the living is known as, nihum avelim (Rich).

Olam ha ba or the world to come is the belief that the soul returns to God to wait to
be reborn with the coming of the Messiah. Death allows for Jewish people to value
life and their short time spent on earth (Parkes, 101). It is believed that beyond
death, life does not include earthly pleasures such as eating and drinking. After
death life consists of being, in the glory of the Divine Presence. There is no hell
after death as a destination. Rather, happiness to those who lived a righteous life
and suffering to those who sinned and led others to sin. There is more of a reward
versus punishment system instead of destinations. The punishment given to those
in life after death is not set in stone, it is described in the Talmud as, vague and
contradictory (Darmesteter, page 51 52). In many branches Christianity it is
believed one s soul goes to purgatory when they die and the decision is made
weather your soul will spend eternity in heaven or hell. Jewish tradition does not
believe that souls end up in one of the two destinations rather, all souls end up in
the same place, it is just the journey that is different for different individuals. When
your body dies your soul leaves it and begins its journey to return to God, this
journey is considered a purification process so your soul is pure in the world to
come. The purification process for those who lived a fulfilling and righteous life
may only take a day or so while those who lived a life full of sin take a longer time
on their journey to purification, taking up to a year. After this purification process is
complete Jewish tradition states that the soul is then waiting for the coming of the
Messiah when the soul will return to the physical body for final judgment (Parkes,
A Beautiful Day In My Life
Five more minutes, I groaned as I layed in my bed one cloudless Monday morning
while my mom annoyingly stood in the doorway of my room, rapidly clapping her
hands to wake me up. How late were you up last night? she questioned as she
resiliently clapped. Applications and essays, I told her as I rolled out of bed. Still
working on Georgetown. Georgetown?! It s already been three weeks! I know, I
know. I m putting a lot of effort into this. After all, this is my life, is it not?
Although this is a lot of work... She looked at me as if I had some sort of careless
attitude. She was right though; I did. I got ready for school, went downstairs, and
gazed out the window in the living room to see the gorgeous sunlight shine
through the skyscrapers. Beautiful view, I remarked as my mom walked down
the open riser staircase. The tall towers that were scattered across Manhattan stood
right in front of my window. I walked towards the kitchen and grabbed an apple
from the fridge. I m very glad you picked this one out of all the apartments we
looked at. Me too, Lucas, my mother assured as I cleaned the alluring apple under
the running faucet on the island, me too. I took a bite into the crisp golden apple.
She asked, Ready for school? Yeah, I guess, I responded. Adios. I sluggishly hauled
my five ton backpack and pulled open the decorative wooden door. Bye! *** I came

We The People Of The People’S Republic Of China
Established
We the people of the People s Republic of China established our republic in 1912.
The country is one of the largest country in the eastern hemisphere, and it possesses a
long, rich, and prosperous history. The nation is the fourth largest country in size, but
the largest in population, with 1.8 billion people residing within our borders.
Unfortunately, it leaves a limited amount of food. Accordingly, in our mission to
insure that our own people get enough food and a healthy diet, we have found
genetically modified organisms, or GMOs to be of value.
A genetically modified organism (GMO, also known as a genetically engineered
organism) is defined as any living organism whose genetic material has been altered

Due to limited space, we need to import food. In 2011, we became the world s
largest importer of goods (food?), above Germany, and in 2014, our importation of
food (?)cost nearly 13,668,400,000,000 yuan (13.67 trillion yuan, or 2 trillion USD).
Nevertheless, our government is still trying to slow down the amount of food
coming into the country. Farmers have been allowed to grow crops that are to be
genetically engineered, and geneticists are genetically modifying foods. This was
deemed legal after we created a commercially, mass produced, viral resistant
tobacco plant in 1992. In ancient China, people were genetically engineering crops
and breeding animals (known as domestication) beginning as early as 6,000 B.C.E.
Our authorities have allowed growing within our borders since the republic was
created, in 1912. Our government actually wants farmers to do it themselves. From
December 2015 through April 2016, our authorities turned away 1.5 million tons of
U.S. corn, which is one of our biggest imports. The 1.5 million tons amount to 36%
of our corn imports. Authorities say it is because the crop contained a GMO strain
not yet permitted to import, but U.S. growers believe that it is because our
authorities are shielding their own growers and geneticists because we are growing
and genetically modifying the corn ourselves.

Declaration Of Independence And The Way To Wealth
Analysis
Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin both show an unfamiliar patriotism for a
country not yet formed in their works The Declaration of Independence and The Way
to Wealth respectively. Their ideology was manifested in their written works and
carried on through their actions. Jefferson lived a life as a wealthy farmer and
understood that government control was not a necessity, especially when it ventured
to tyranny. Benjamin Franklin embodied the Puritan ideology when urging others to
be industrious and frugal. Both of these ideals are examples of American ideology,
and Thomas Jeffersonand Benjamin Franklin express these in their works. As stated
by Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, With a firm reliance on the

Poor Richard forms the American ideology to be a hard working and economical
through all of his words of wisdom. There are no gains without pains (Way to
Wealth 237), which expresses the hard work mentality that was placed into the
American ideology because Americans were considered to be of lower class than the
people of Europe. Assuming that the Americans were lesser than them, the Europeans
did not pay much attention to the work ethic of the new nation, much less the nation
as a whole. So Benjamin Franklin wrote an Almanac, giving him a way to share his
knowledge with those in America. He created a society that would believe that
industry pays debts, while despair increaseth them (Way to Wealth 237) making
America relevant to the world, giving the country a place because it looked past their
present situation and more toward how to improve their livelihood. Benjamin
Franklin, an avid supporter of a hardworking and frugal society, sought to inform us
with his adages and make America into a better nation. Benjamin Franklin helped
form the American ideology of Industriousness and

What is the Current Status of the Grading Policies Issue with FCPS?
In spring 08, FCPS Superintendent Jack Dale agreed to take FAIRGRADE s
research under consideration and assemble an FCPS research team to provide
analysis about how FCPS grading policies compare to other school districts
regionally and non regionally, the impact of these policies division wide and to
determine what, if anything, supports current FCPS grading policies.
During the summer of 08, the FCPS research team defined the scope of their research

A FCPS designed survey, that will be sent to 104 of the existing 3000 college
admissions offices located in the United States, is still being refined. The data
collected from this survey will be included in an FCPS report to the FCPS School
Board this fall. FCPS officials are on the record as saying they will present their
research findings and recommendations by late fall, 08.
On August 25, 2008 FCPS held a Roundtable panel discussion at Luther Jackson
Middle School in Falls Church to discuss FCPS grading policies, their impact on the
college admissions process and the effects of these policies with regard to lost
scholarship and honor s program opportunities. Four admissions officers from area
universities and FAIRGRADE President Megan McLaughlin were among the
panelists participating in this public discussion.
FAIRGRADE was extremely pleased that the admissions officers serving on the
panel attested to the fact that the FCPS grading policies can put its students at a
disadvantage and that they acknowledged FCPS sterling reputation would not suffer
if FCPS changed its grading policies to a 10 point grading
The Revolt Of Mother By Mary E. Wilkins
Even in the 21st century, there is still a lingering idea that women strictly belong in
the home. This can be attributed to both the continuous, though evolved, embrace of
the Cult of Domesticity and natural law. In the eighteenth century the Cult of
Domesticity was embraced and challenged by many women, as it is today. The
Revolt of Mother by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman is a literary example that reinforces
the idea of the Cult of Domesticity by showing the reader the boundaries between
genders and the power, however limited, that a womanhas. In contrast, Kate Chopin s
The Story of An Hour, shows the constraints that genderroles put on a woman.
Chopin s story challenges the Cult of Domesticity by using the character s internal
dialogue to show that this was not the life she pictured. The Cult of Domesticity
can be tied to other themes, such as the burden of motherhood, as in I Stand Here
Ironing by Tillie Olsen. The home and the children were all under control of the
woman of the house, and though it sometimes feels like a burden, it is the woman s
obligation. Olsen did not fully accept nor fully condemn the Cult of Domesticity; she
simply presented it as the way of life. By using the main character s internal
monologues and their actions to control, or not control, their domains, each of these
authors presents their view on the Cult of Domesticity. Wilkin s story, The Revolt of
Mother is often misinterpreted by modern readers. Mother is not challenging her role

The History Of Post Hardcore Music
The History of Post Hardcore Post Hardcore. Post hardcore music came from a
long line of genres. During the last several years, alternative has on gone through
many different changes. It has always helped with real life situations. It comes from
stories out of our everyday lives and most of the hardcore music comes from the
pain of something that has hurt the person emotionally or physically. Post Hardcore
is a genre that came from the united states back in the early 1800s. Due to it
constantly changing and they heard the lyrics so, many people believed that post
hardcore was just for metal heads. But this isn t the case whatsoever. It came to the

By the second generation, in the early 1920s radio had become the most important
and popular source of entertainment. As America was pitched into the great
depression in the early 1930s radio managed to sustain the still fairly young genre.
The 40s had provided to be very pivotal era in changing and shaping the future of
music for the years to shadow. Power and the money had shifted to all the way up
to New York City, The Big Apple which was already home of most of the emo
music already. Throughout all of this, screamo had come into its own style and
form. The third generation started in 1990s way after world war two. This is what
is known as, post war. This is when music grew and went worldwide. Rock and roll
came in the form of Elvis Presley, bands such as Born Against, Rorschach, Burn and
Drive Like Jehu took the radio in the 1980s many styles of hardcore pushed them into
more contemporary sounds. Many of the bands from this were strongly influenced by
other genres, such as heavy metal, alternative, pop, and even some rap. The music
from this generation was based upon anger and hatred. Many emotions ranged from
this genre. The fifth generation, in which began in the late 2000s, post hardcore
became a phenomenon thanks to artists such as Strung Out, Earth Crisis, Snapcase,
Strife, Hatebreed, 108, Integrity and Damnation A.D. This was the scary style which
soon became known as death metal. The sixth
Online Investigation And Intentional Of My Own Name
I have always been interested in names. At one point in my life, I would spend hours
researching them on various websites, saving my favorites for future use in one of
the many books I planned on writing. I m sure my parents, if they had seen my
browser history babynames.com, babycenter.com, bump.com would have been very
concerned. Nevertheless, the existence of these websites is a testament to the fact that
I was not the only one who was obsessed; in recent years, interest in names has

He was, perhaps, the most stereotypical Jew in Shakespeare s works, a caricature
possessing all the negative traits associated with Jews by the people of the sixteenth

of the most famous
Jews in western cultural history. I find this hilarious. A person s middle name is far
less significant, usually an afterthought or a second choice. It has no real use, and
very few people outside of the individual s family know what it is. It is not part of an
individual s first impression. Nevertheless, my middle name
Paige actually had a bit of thought put into it. Back in the 90 s, my parents had
developed a bit of an obsession with the soap opera Knots Landing. My father, in
particular, became enamored of one of the primary female characters. A strong,
independent woman who knew what she wanted, Paige possessed several traits
that my dad hoped his daughters would have. So, he made me, his eldest, her
namesake. Learning that you are named after a soap opera character is a bit
dismaying, but I have come to terms with it over the years. After all, I want to be a
strong, independent woman as well; sharing a name with a relatively famous one is a
nice little motivator. Finally, a person s last name is perhaps the most significant one
of all; it connects them with other individuals and
Lincoln s Attempt To Support D Estaing
American forces in the south, between 5,000 and 7,000 men, were based at
Charleston under the command of General Benjamin Lincoln. Lincoln recognized
that he would need assistance from the French navy and army to retake Savannah.
On September 3, he learned that the French forces under the command of Admiral
Comte d Estaing were en route to Savannah, bringing with them ships of the line
and 4,000 soldiers. On September 11, Lincoln marched out of Charleston with
2,000 Continentals to link up with d Estaing. Arriving first, d Estaing began
offensive operations to take the city. He initially offered Prevost an opportunity to
surrender, but Prevost demurred, hoping that reinforcements would arrive. He was
given twenty four hours. This reprieve would prove in the end to be pivotal, as
1,000 men arrived to support Prevost s force just as Lincoln arrived to support d
Estaing. The Allied forces, when fully assembled, numbered near 7,000. Defending
Savannah was a force totaling 2,500 men. Faced with overwhelming odds, Prevost

Lincoln reluctantly ceded de facto command to d Estaing, who had begun
operations before Lincoln s arrival. The French commander believed that a frontal
assault against the British position would be futile and instead proposed to bombard
the city. Lincoln concurred, French cannons were removed from their ships, and a
five day cannonade began. However, Savannah bore the brunt of the artillery assault
while the defensive positions remained relatively untouched, so d Estaing eventually
agreed to the frontal assault in spite of objections by his officers. He worried that a
protracted siege would take too long and wanted to redeem his glory that had been
tarnished at Newport, Rhode Island. Additionally, hurricane season was moving in
and the British fleet was still lurking somewhere off the coast
Leaving High School Popular
Diagnostics Essay
Do you believe that popularity in high school will help you once you graduate? I
asked this question because today I am going to be discussing whether leaving high
school popular can affect you in a good or bad way. I personally believe that it does
not affect you, because you can be the the quarterback on the high school football
team and graduate to become a bagger boy at the local grocery store. This is the
main reason I believe this.
When a teen is in high school one of the most important things to them is there
popularity. Most students would rather be popular then keep their grades up. In my
opinion, this is just a waste of time. When you graduate from high school your
popularity will not help you with getting
How to Teach a Dyslexic Child
Dyslexia is now a widely accepted condition that is prevalent in many classrooms.
However, defining dyslexia is difficult as it can be described as a continuum.
Although experts largely agree that dyslexia is identifiable as a developmental
difficulty of language learning and cognition (Rose, 2009). Dyslexiacan pose a host
of difficulties for the child and can make daily activities and school life very
challenging. The NCLD (2013) states children with dyslexia may have difficulties
with accurate and fluent spelling, accurate and fluent written expression,
phonological awareness, memory, verbal processing speed and information
processing. As teachers it is vital that we are aware of the underlying difficulties as

Therefore, the teacher should ensure the child is focused before giving
instructions and the tasks should be broken down into small easily remembered
pieces of information (Hodge, 2000). The child should be seated where
communication can be made easier and information should be repeated if needed.
Visual cues may need to be provided along with the verbal to aid the child in
processing the verbal information. The child with dyslexia can have difficulty with
perseverance to task so providing them with diagrams and flow charts depicting the
task structure and posters reminding the child of steps to follow to complete the task
can help. The teacher should ensure activities are not information overload for the
child making the task impossible (DENI, 2011; Gathercole and Alloway, 2008). Also
ensure that tasks are not lengthy sequences but meaningful chunks (DENI, 2011,
p.100). Distractions should be reduced whilst the child is working for if a child is
distracted or interrupted while using working memory the process is lost and the child
cannot resume from where they were interrupted (Gathercole and Alloway, 2008).The
plenary should also be used to summarise main teaching points so that the learning is
more likely to go from short term to long term memory.
Within the Primary School setting the teaching of phonics is a significant part of the
curriculum (PMBNI, 2009).
Symptoms Of Stereotypes In The Black Swan
The Black Swan is a psychologically based thriller in which Nina, a dedicated
ballerina who belongs to a highly elite company in New York City, strives to one
day become prima ballerina. She covets the role of Swan Queen in her company s
upcoming rendition of Swan Lake . As she is shy and innocent in her demeanor, Nina
is the epitome of the character of the White Swan. On the other hand, the part of the
Black Swan is seductive, dark, and passionate. The artistic director of the company,
Thomas, doubts her ability to embody both roles but through a shocking display of
boldness by Nina, he decides she is capable of taking on both roles, and awards her
the part. The rest of the film is dedicated to showing her insatiable dedication to
achieve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most common symptoms associated with schizophrenia is delusions, or
false beliefs bases on incorrect inferences about reality. For example, Nina believes
that Lily, a ballerina who is new to the company, is trying to replace her and steal
her role. This is an inaccurate belief because Lily never displayed any motivation
to steal the role and was also nothing but kind and friendly to Nina. Nina also
experiences hallucinations, which are another symptom commonly associated with
this disorder. Hallucinations are false sensory perceptions that are experienced
without an external source. They can be auditory, visual, olfactory, or
somatosensory. In Nina s case, she experiences mostly visual and somatosensory
hallucinations such as seeing herself pull a feather out of her skin or her physical
transformation into the Black Swan when she perceives herself growing feathers
and wings. While genetics plays a role in the development of schizophrenia, we
cannot come to the conclusion that anyone in Nina s family was a schizophrenic or
that it would be the sole cause of her developing the disorder. Environmental stress is
shown to also contribute to the development and Nina is overcome with the pressure
to achieve perfection and to uphold her company s reputation which creates an
atmosphere of extreme stress that she must cope with. There are both
pharmacological and psychosocial treatments for schizophrenia such as the drugs
haloperidol and chlorpromazine and the participation in social skills training; neither
of these treatments were referenced in this film. Schizophrenia is also commonly
confused with dissociative identity disorder (DID), also referred to as multiple
personality disorder. This condition is the occurrence of two or more distinct
identities in the same person. Many people that are diagnosed with DID, report being
abused in their
The Role Of The Patriots During The Revolutionary War
The role the Patriots played in the revolutionary war.
The revolutionary era refers to the uprising of the common people against authority
in the late 1700s. Great Britain ruled the American colonies for several years since
1607. The American Revolution came as a need from the American people for
independence from Great Britain. This need for independence was stirred up by the
enactment of the Stamp Act in American colonies by the British. American colonies
were congenial to liberty and independence due to religion and other factors. The
American people reacted to the stamp act with public resistance in the colonies.

The stamp act was considered taxation without representation of the colonies in the
British Parliament. It was put down as a threat to the freedom of the American
people. People began violently rebelling against the British. These oppositions grew
and spread throughout the colonies.
The revolutionary movement divided the colonies into Patriots and Loyalists.
Loyalists were colonists loyal to the British, while the Patriots were in support of the
American Revolution. The Patriots began boycotting goods imported from Great
Britain, and substituting them with homemade goods and cheap inferior goods. The
merchants in the colonies were frustrated and could not sell their goods. Both Britain
and the merchants lost profits due to this change. The importation of British goods
was later banned in the American colonies. Merchants were being forced to sign
documents denying the importation of British goods. Merchants whom refused to
sign these documents were sent to the gallows to be tarred and feathered.
Additionally, Loyalists were coerced by the patriots into supporting the American
Revolution or they would be lynched in the gallows. Some loyalists who refused ran
away with their families to Great Britain for fear of being killed. Such actions of
people in the colonies frustrated the British and led to the Revolutionary war.
The American Revolution began in 1775 and continued until 1783. The war started in
the north. The British amounted support from Germany,
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bottled Water Is Better...
Your whole life has been a lie. Commercials, parents, friends, and even some of your
teachers have told you that bottled water is better than tap. Well bottle your emotions
and listen to what i have to say. One can argue that bottled water is better than tap
but their argument will not be as strong or convincing as mine will be to do the
opposite, to convince you that tap water is better than bottled water. The discussion
has been around for a while now and we all know that tap water is more beneficial
than bottled water. First off, tap water is more regulated and checked than bottled
water is making it safer than bottled water. Tap water is also nowhere near as
expensive as bottled water is and it s better for the environment too. Lastly,... Show

In 2013 the average cost for tap water was $2 per every thousand gallons. While
bottled was $1.21 for every gallon alone. Here is another way to look at it, if you
buy a $1 bottled water everyday for a year, you end up spending $365 on water that
most likely is from a tap source (Livingston). Why spend $365 annually on bottled
water when you can just use your own faucet or the nearest water fountain? People
spend so much money on bottled water that could be used for water charities across
the world to help people who don t have access to a clean water supply. This would
call for everyone who does have access to a clean tap water source, to use it and
take the money that they would rather spend on a bottle and put it towards a greater
cause. By choosing to drink tap water you save money daily, weekly, monthly, and
annually so before you pay $2.14 for that bottle of purified water remember you have
the same, if not better, quality water at your house.
Another thing about tap water that is overlooked is how often we use it in our
everyday lives. On average, an American family uses 300 gallons of water
everyday. Now there is no way one family can drink 300 gallons of water in one day
so how do they use that much? The answer is because tap water has multiple uses
other than just being drinking water. Everyday when you take a shower, brush your
teeth, flush the toilet, wash the dishes,

these types of organizations in the work place. Labor unions today compared to in

countries try their best to ignore and disregard these conditions that are not
normal. The benefits of these workers working under these conditions are too high
and production is increasing in countries such as China and India. Labor union
organizations have helped enforce several workers rights from sexual
discrimination to age discrimination. The AFL CIO is very adamant about the
following: people who want to work should have a job with a living wage, workers
are proud of their work and should have the chance to do it right, workers should
enjoy the freedom to form a union and bargain collectively, and want to contribute
to, and share in, building a world class economy (AFL CIO, n.d.). Unions are still
very much a part of the current work force and people are serious about their jobs and
well being. References American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial

Favorite Brand Paper In marketing the most important factor is the brand value.
Majority of customers prefer a particular brand and want to stick to it for a long
time. This is the reason why every company spend legal amount of money in
marketing their product so it can build relationship with customers which can stick
to them for a long time. As far as my personal choice is concerned, I have many
favorite brands for different requirements but for this paper I will chose my favorite
brand which is Tesla Motors.

that investors should look at Tesla Motors as more than a traditional auto company.
Identify at least two other competitors in the same industry, and explain why you
prefer your selected brand over the competitors. TSLA(Tesla Motor Inc) is an electric
car designer, manufacturer ,and distributor. This company also participating with
providing services to other automotive companies. Tesla Motors Inc(TSLA), has two
revenue segments: automotive sales and development services. As of 8/30/ 2014,
automotive sales accounted for 99.54 % of revenue, while development services

The Core Focus Of The Prison Officer
This statement, that rule enforcement is the core focus of the prison officers job, is
underestimating the challenges and risks that come with being a prison officer.
Research shows that there is more pressure on the officers than to just administer the
rules, they are dealing with human beings who have a range of emotional and daily
challenges they must overcome in prison. A prison officer has daily contact with
these prisoners which is why rules cannot be fully implemented, all the time. ...guard

Comparing prisoner experience and opinions of prison officers between the two
institutions, harsh rule enforcement shows to be detrimental to the prisoners self
respect but causes hostility with the regime.. A prisoner in Albany, a category B
prison states that most of [institution] rules are not designed for any specific
purpose other than for bashing you over the head every day of the week to remind
you your in prison (ibid, p.191). Inmates are being controlled and dictated
forcefully, with no input into their regime. This shows that with no social
agreement or relationship between inmate and staff, inmates are being punished
in an inequitable manner, by the unethical abuse to dominate. Jeweks states that
total domination over prisoners is fiction (2007, p.124), that prisoners will have no
sense of internal duty to comply to the officers. Long Lartin, a category A prison
on the Isle of White, proposes a sense of confidence in the prisoners, as they have
privileges that most prisons do not have, for example; a generous gym, allowing
prisoners outdoors during summer nights, ownership of clothes and no escorts
needed (Sparks, Bottoms and Hay, 1996, p.171). If they treat you like an animal or a
lump of wood, you act like one. If they treat you like a human being, you behave like
a human being (ibid p.172). By allowing the prisoners a degree of

Piaget in the Classroom
Educational Psychology Piaget in the classroom Describe 4 educational beliefs
/practices that are grounded by the development ideas presented by Piaget. The
educational implications of Piaget s theory are closely tied to the concept of
intelligence as the dynamic and emerging ability to adapt to the environment with
ever increasing competence (Piaget, 1963). According to the development ideas
presented by Piaget s theory, cognitive structures are patterns of physical and mental
action that underlie specific acts of intelligence and correspond to changes in child
development. A review of the assumptions and ideas grounded in his theory and

In contrast to this view Les Vygotsky, whose theories have also been implicated in
modern educational teaching methods, explained that children can learn skills that
are just beyond their ability if they are helped by someone who possesses that skill,
this was known as proximal development and although it contradicts the fundamental
argument behind Piagets support for cooperative learning, it provides an other
theorists outlook on the benefits of cooperative learning in educational settings and
thus increases support on its use. Different learning theory approaches favour
cooperative learning for different reasons (O Donnell, 2002) The second
educational belief grounded in Piaget s theory is individual differences. Piaget s
theory asserts that children go through all the same developmental stages; however
they do so at different rates* because of this teachers should put more effort to
arrange classroom activities for groups of children and individuals rather than for the
whole class group. Also because individual differences are
Why The School Board Should Extend School Hours
The school board plans is considering adding one and a half hours to the school
day.The extra one and half of hours would provide more instruction time. This would
also provide students more time for remediation, and teachers more time to plan
interactive lessons with the extension of the school day. For these reasons, the school
board should extend the school day by one and a half hours.
If the school board extended the school day by one and a half hours,it would provide
more instruction time.Teachers would have more time to explain there lessons out to
the students. The students would have more time to ask questions and get help from
the teacher.Students have a easier time understanding.Due to the school board

Neighbors By J Cole Analysis
The song Neighbors by J cole is a song about how he feels people in the world
today view the black community and how they are treated by authority and civilians.
One of the lines that he raps is Travon kind of fate, this line obviously referring to
the death of Trayvon Martin; the young black boy viciously murdered by a white
man. Another line that hits home with a lot of his fans is the line, cops bustin down
the door with army guns no evidence of the harm we done, this line referring to the
treatment of blacks throughout the country by police officers. I feel that this song
really speaks out about the current situation we are dealing with in this country with
lingering racism and inequality. The Montgomery Bus Boycott starter in 1964
Portrayal Of Female Sex Workers
It is often hard for the average person living in great conditions with all the luxuries
this world offers like a nice car, big house, and a family to not stigmatize the
profession of female sex workers. Themes of religion, addiction, and shame
encompass the every day lives of the sex workers featured in the film Whores
Glory1. Are the sex workers working in Thailand, Bangladesh, and Mexico seen as
feminists? Do the women featured have control over their bodies? Finally, are
these women recognized by society as workers in the film? I will be analyzing the
production of the film through it s themes and support my argument that the film
Whores Glory1 is not feminist due to it s depiction of female sex workers.
Religion plays a major factor in the film by displaying how sex workers feel about
certain aspects of their profession. The different women featured from Thailand,
Bangladesh, and Mexico seek out religious practices to absolve them from
persecution from God. A cleansing of some sort like burning of sage in the
working room in Bangladesh, cleansing of black magic in Mexico, and a prayer to
Buddha in Thailand are all featured in the film right before their shift1. I found this
interesting because I felt that Glawogger attempted to portray a perception of
submissiveness to the profession by the sex workers through religious practices.
Why do women have to suffer so much? Isn t there another path for us? says a
Bangladeshi sex worker who expresses faithlessness to the
New York Jets Case Study
2016 was supposed to be a promising year for the New York Jets. Finishing 10 6 in
2015, basically bringing back the same roster with the addition of the rookie class
and signing free agent Pro Bowl running back, Matt Forte, 2016 was supposed to
be a playoff year. Well, as many people know, it was not. Ryan Fitzpatrick, the 2015
starting QB, decided to hold out for more money and would go ahead and miss all

would be deemed the starter for the 2016 season. Off topic a little, I don t think

Quentin s Struggle in The Sound and the Fury Essay
Quentin s Struggle in The Sound and the Fury
Too much happens...Man performs, engenders so much more than he can or should
have to bear.
That s how he finds that he can bear anything. William Faulkner (Fitzhenry 12)
In Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury, we are given a character known as Quentin,
one who helps us more fully understand the words of the author when delivering his
Nobel Prize acceptance speech The young man or woman writing today has forgotten
the problems of the human heart in conflict with itself (The Faulkner Reader 3).

We see him write the necessary letters, lay out his suits, stacks his books, and pack
his clothes. Quentin is not concerned with the external realities, only those in his
internal imagination. He has fictionalized and fantasize external reality to the point
where reality to him is internal only. Quentin cannot bear real time so he wishes to
lose time, which will culminate in his suicide. We see the absurdity which the human
condition involves, which Quentin cannot endure, when his father gives him his
grandfather s watch:
I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire; it s rather excrutiating ly apt that
you will use it to gain the reducto absurdum of all human experience which can fit
your individual needs no better than it fitted his or his father s. I give it to you not
that you may remember time, but that you might forget it now and then for a
moment and not spend all your breath trying to conquer it. Because no battle is
ever won he said. They are not even fought. The field only reveals to man his own
folly and despair, and victory is an illusion of philosophers and fools.
(Faulkner 95)
Likewise, Quentin s most elaborate internal fabrication is his belief that he has
committed incest with Caddy. It is his most elaborate internal fiction and the one
which causes him the most conflict and pain. Quentin is actually separated from
human activity externally. He
Chippewa River Research Paper
The Chippewa River is a stream in Michigan, a tributary of the Tittabawasee River,
that runs 91.8 miles in total and is part of the Saginaw River drainage basin. The
Chippewa River is named after the Chippewa Native Americans whose ancestors
lived in the area and whose descendants still occupy a reserve in Isabella County. It
is locally known for Bass, Chubs, and Redhorses. This river is also the main water
source for the city of Mount Pleasant. It has two main tributaries: Pine River and
Coldwater River, the Pin River comes from the north branch of the river but the
Coldwater River comes from the west branch of the river. [1] Measuring the water
quality is important because water quality is absolutely vital for the river to be a
healthy environment for the organisms around it. Water quality, if good, will support
native fish, various microorganisms, various species of plants, and bird populations.
The quality of a river s water is commonly decided by its physical, chemical,
biological and aesthetic traits. A healthy environment is one in which the water
quality supports a healthy ecosystem; many of our own personal uses depend on the
quality of the water that will be used drinking, fishing, recreation, and many other
important uses. [2]... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Accessibility And Affordability Of Unhealthy Foods...

Too embarrassed by his weight to play outside with friends, he spends his days

his growing size. Beep beep , machines surround the hospital bed of the boy, now a
man in his 40s, who just suffered from a heart attack, prematurely brought on by
obesity. This young man s life may have turned out drastically different, if unhealthy
habits had not developed so easily at a young age. The accessibility and
affordability of unhealthy foods like candy and soda make it very difficult to break
bad habits and pursue healthier options. Imposing a sin tax on unhealthy food choices
to combat the growing problem of obesity in the United States would not only help
the citizens suffering from obesity, but everyone else in the country in many different
ways. Many argue that the implementation of a sin tax infringes upon their freedom

The Battle Of Gettysburg At Gettysburg
Over the last 153 years Gettysburg, has moved from honoring those who fought and
died during the battle at Gettysburg to preserve the battlefield. Gettysburg went
through two phases of change. The first phase happened between 1863 1938 and the
second phase happened in 1938 when the War Department transferred the
administration of Gettysburg to the National Park Service. During the first phase the
National Cemetery was built in Gettysburg for the creation of a proper burial of
their now dead sons, brothers, and husbands. David Wills, a local attorney,
purchased twelve acres on behalf of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the
creation of a proper burial of their now dead sons, brothers, or husbands. Wills
selected the high ground of Cemetery Hill, a key piece of terrain that had figured
prominently as part of the union battle line. After the National Cemetery was built
a veteran of the Union Army and now New York Representative Daniel E. Sickles
introduced a bill to congress. On December 06, 1984 Daniel Sickles, introduced
H.R. 8096 with little debate on February 11, 1895 Congress approved an act to
establish a National Military Park at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Popularly called the
Sickles Bill, this legislation established the federal park boundary at 3,331.5 acres.
The Gettysburg BattlefieldMemorial Association (GBMA) deeded its 522 acres to the
federal government, which this formally established Gettysburg National Military as

This essay aims at assessing existing literature on the ethnic and gender composition
in the English and Wales judiciary. The essay will also illustrate the previous efforts
of the government in achieving diversity in the judiciary.
Gender is a critical dimension of judicial diversity illustrated by the proportions of
positions awarded to the males and females on the judiciary. There are different ways
of rationalising judicial diversity where judicial appointments follow policy and law
that promotes equal opportunities. The judiciary needs to show sensitivity to the
experiences and needs of the different elements of legal systems where the judiciary
requires illustration of diversity for service as well as diverse judiciary with increased
accountability of legal democracies. The current preclusion the gender incorporation
dictates the alternative dimension regarding judicial diversity. Features of judicial
initiatives towards achieving ethnic and gender diversity are assessed through
qualitative and quantitative perceptions and experiences of judicial bias.
Nowadays, diversity and equality in England and Wales are matters that professional
bodies face and deliberate in their annual reports. Law Society s websites illustrate
commitment towards playing leading roles to eliminate discrimination through
promoting equality of opportunities and diversities in activities and regulation of

the sea. This technique shows the beauty of the sea and the land around it.
The conflict plays an important role in this novel without it the novel would be

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Reproductive Cloning
Reproductive cloning could take the form of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF). This is
where fertilisation takes place outside the body. Many embryos grow in a petri
dish for 2 5 days then the best embryos are selected and implanted into the womb of
the mother (Babies, 2011). This form of conception could eventually allow parents
to choose certain characteristics or traits that they want their child to have or not to
have. Genes could be manipulated and selected to satisfy the wants of the parents.
This is commonly referred to as Designer babies (Biggs, 2004). Reproductive cloning
could also be used to create siblings of children to have the exact DNAmatch
enabling the Saviour Sibling to have perfect compatibility with his/her sick
sibling. Organs, blood, bone marrow and anything else the unhealthy child needs
can be harvested from the sibling that was created to have the same DNA (Springgs
Savulescu, 2002). My sister s keeper, a book written specifically related to Saviour
Siblings , is an example of where this form of cloning has been used to save the life
of a child that was terminally ill.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reproductive cloning is also a very expensive procedure. In the case of In Vitro
Fertilisation in humans, not all the embryos are implanted back into the female. The
embryos that are not implanted are destroyed therefore the ethical issue of abortion is
raised (Murnaghan, 2014). Reproductive cloning has unethical aspects for many
individuals therefore most countries have put laws in place preventing people from
practicing reproductive cloning.

Part Two: Aesthetic Comparison
There were many similarities between the books Breakfast at Tiffany s the film.
The film Breakfast at Tiffany s was a traditional translation which is a close
translation of the book, but with minor detail changes in the way the director sees
fit. The director possibly created these differences to make the film more palatable
and relatable to a broader audience. The film did a great job adapting the novel. Many
scenes in the book were adapted exactly how I pictured it. For example, her
landlord, Mr. Yunioshi, who was infuriated every time she interrupted him in her
apartment by ringing his bell, they casted his role beautifully and he appeared
exactly as I pictured. First I will discuss the similarities, the ... Show more content on

The gift that Holly gave to the narrator in the novel was a bird cage, in the film;
Holly gave Paul a type writer ribbon. I was pleasantly surprised that Paul in the film
was much more courageous when it came to professing his love for Holly. He boldly
confessed his love for her which led to a romantic relationship between them. The last
major difference was the ending; Holly finds her cat even though he was lost in the
novel, until Paul notices another family adopted it. She doesn t go to Brazil, she
decides to stay with Fred and they embrace each other as the film fades out. The
novel Breakfast at Tiffany s is essentially about finding yourself, and a never ending
journey of self discovery. Not being afraid to go through the changes of life, living,
laughing, loving, losing yourself and finding yourself all over again.
Part Three: The Pitch
Imagine that you are going to make a film adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany s.
Write a 2 4 paragraph pitch that you d deliver to Hollywood executives who will
decide whether or not to greenlight your idea. Who will star in this film? How
faithful will you be to the original text? What will be some of the film s highlights?
What will the opening sequence be? What music might be used on the soundtrack?
What theme(s) and characters will you focus on to make it relevant to an audience
today?
For my movie adaption of Breakfast at Tiffany s I
Social Class In Les MisпїЅrables And The Kite Runner
In Les MisГ©rables, social class was the main way you either rich or poor and
whether or not you had power, the other way you were rich or poor was how you
treated others, if you were good or bad. In The Kite Runner, you were either rich or
poor and had power or not, by social class, but the main way was the qualities you
had towards people. In Les MisГ©rablesand The Kite Runner, both books show the
many ways you could be rich and poor. I will show you how being rich or poor and
having power affects the way you act and how you are treated. Some are poor or rich
because of their social class, race, or the religion they were born into, social
constrictions also played a vital role in what type of person you became. Jean Valjean
lived with very little money and he had to take care of his sister and her kids.
Society had treated him badly and in return, he became a person poor in good
qualities and actions. When Monsieur Madeleine gave him a chance, Jean had
changed his ways to become a better person and even a new person. Jean became
successful and he started giving his money to people who are in need because he
knows how it felt to be treated badly. Jean seen his abilities and power over people,
he did not abuse this power. Instead, Jean used his power to help people. Jean did
have a close call with his darker ways, but that is when he met Cosette. Cosette
made him remain a good person. To remain in paradise and there become a demon!

The United States Relationship With Pakistan Governed,...
Research Question: What is the United States Relationship with Pakistan governed,
guided and validated by? The world s general trend towards globalization and
capitalism has shifted the way the United States interacts with the rest of the world.
This is especially true when it comes to the U.S. s interactions with countries often
classified as the Middle East. Pakistan, a nation still finding its bearings not more than
half a century into its existence, is one of the nations who has mistakenly, or
strategically, gotten caught up with the United Statesin the Middle East.
Geographically speaking, Pakistan is Southeast Asia, and not the Middle East. Yet, its
cultural, social and economic ties to the Middle Eastern nations makes it... Show

Meanwhile the Soviets conducted their operations from within Afghanistan s borders.
Following the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Pakistani government played
a vital role in supporting the Afghan resistance movement and assisting Afghan
refugees. Pakistan was the base for the United States to conduct its anti Soviet
operations, training and arming the Afghan resistance groups, besides offering shelter
to the refugees that fled the country after the Soviet invasion (Foreign Relations,
2013). Ever since the Cold War Afghani and Pakistani tensions have only become
more hostile.
Prior to the 1979 Soviet invasion, the government and people of Afghanistan
historically had warm relations with India. Following India s Independence from
Great Britain and Partition, Afghanistan saw India as an ally in its increasingly bitter
and occasionally militarized dispute with Pakistan over the inclusion of ethnic
Pashtuns in the new state of Pakistan. India, like the Soviet Union, extended
diplomatic and moral support to Afghanistan in its irredentist quarrel with Pakistan.38
A natural convergence of interests was inevitable between India and Afghanistan as
both states realized that they had a common problem in border relations with
Pakistan: Afghanistan over Pashtunistan and India over Kashmir (Yadav, 2011).
Not too long after the Cold War, the United States and the world at large was
Conservatism In The 1970 s
Conservatism began to dominate American politics in the 1980s because the 1960s
had seen America get too liberal socially for most people s comfort. The average
American was not comfortable with hippies and the anti Vietnam war movement
and the riots in cities. The 1970s saw economic trouble and liberal economic
solutions that had been used since the New Deal were not working. By the end of
the 1970s, people wanted something different, something that could make America
strong and prosperous again. Reagan was also able to move the US further to the
right politically because the American people loved him and thought the world of
him and also because he was a great salesman. Reagan was able to persuade the
American people that less government,

Managing Core Risks in Banking
MANAGING CORE RISKS IN BANKING:
ASSET LIABILITY MANAGEMENT (ALM)
BANGLADESH BANK
Asset Liability Management Policy Asset Liability Management (ALM) is an
integral part of Bank Management; and so, it is essential to have a structured and
systematic process for manage the Balance Sheet. Banks must have a committee
comprising of the senior management of the bank to make important decisions related
to the Balance Sheet of the Bank. The committee, typically called the Asset Liability
Committee (ALCO), should meet atleast once every month to analysis, review and
formulate strategy to manage the balance sheet. In every ALCO meeting, the key
points of the discussion should be minuted and the action points should be
highlighted to better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such, it is important that senior management as well as the Board of Directors
must understand the existence of such risk on the balance sheet and they should
ensure that the structure of the institutions business and the level of balance sheet
risk it assumes are effectively managed, that appropriate policies and procedures
are established to control and limit these risks, and that resources are available for
evaluating and controlling interest rate risk. Increasingly Asset Liability
Management has become an integral part of Bank Management. Banks are exposed
to Balance Sheet Risk, where it is absolutely necessary for the management of the
bank to understand the existence of such risk and best manage the exposure to the
risk. The Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), comprising of the senior management
of a bank, is primarily responsible for Balance Sheet Management or more
specifically Balance Sheet Risk Management. The report aims at promoting
international best practices in Balance Sheet Management for the banking industry in
Bangladesh. The purpose of the report/ guidelines is to provide guidance to
management and to train new staffs. This is intended to be the basic framework for
further development as the skill sets go up the curve and also, to introduce new

Total Equality Analysis
The Societal Problems of Total Equality
I m the Greatest man you ll never know (2081). Harrison Bergeron was indeed the
greatest character never known in his society. 2081 and Harrison Bergeron tell of the
futuristic society who citizens that excel in normal activities are handicapped to meet
the normal population standards. In Harrison Bergeron and the short film 2081, the
author and director use similar and different plot structures and characteristics. Each
similarity and difference show that limiting variation in a society is dangerous.
Harrison Bergeron and the short film 2081 have many similar elements in plot
structure and characteristics. For example, The year was 2081, and everybody was
finally equal. They weren t only equal before the law. They were equal in every
which way (Vonnegut 38). 2081 choose to incorporate the same beginning narration
in the short story. This element sets up the viewer s expectations for the plot and
contributes to the idea of what Vonnegut portrays as the conflict of interest in the
story. Harrison does not want society to be equal and tries to overthrow the
government to change that because he sees the problems with total equality in
society. In addition, both the film and short story show how handicaps negatively
affect society through Harrison father, George. In 2081, George is shown with a
handicap that plays sharp sounds such as a pin hitting a milk bottle to impair his
thought process. This detail shows how the
John Charles Fields Essay
John Charles Fields
John Charles Fields is perhaps one of the most famous Canadian Mathematicians of
all time. He was born on May 14, 1863 in Hamilton Ontario, and died August 9,
1932 in Toronto, Ontario (Young, 1998). He graduated from the University of
Toronto at the age of 21 with a B.A in Mathematics and went on to get his Ph.D. at
John Hopkins University in 1887. Fields was very interested to study at John Hopkins
University because apparently it was the only university in North America which
really stressed research at the time (Fields Institute, n.d.). Fields did original research
in the theory of algebraic functions that was influenced by his reknowned mentors,
Fuchs, Schwarz, Frobenius and Plank (Fields Medal, n.d.). After two ... Show more

I think it is great to know that one of the greatest mathematicians of all time is
Canadian, because most famous mathematicians are of European decent.
I think Fields lived a very interesting and dynamic life; he had a chance to pursue
his dream of research in mathematics and got to become lifelong friends with the
famous mathematician Gosta Mittag Leffler. As opposed to Alfred Nobel, Fields
understood the importance of research in mathematics and he did his best to support
it and promote it. I think that is the reason why John Charles Fields was able to take
mathematics to a new level, because he was so dedicated and passionate about his
work.
Mathematics is used in many widely different contexts and it is used everyday,
although most people don t recognize that and I believe that the creation of the
Fields medal was big step in the mathematical universe. In January 1932, Fields
indicated that the idea of the medal had the support of the major mathematical
societies of France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United States, and he also
outlined the principles behind the proposed medal (Fields Institute, n.d). The first
Fields medal was awarded in Oslo in 1936. I think the implementation of the Fields
medal was a great idea because it served as a reward for outstanding mathematicians
and it made mathematics more recognized around the world.
Other than the Fields medal, I feel the creation of
The Importance Of Reading In Education
The United States is increasingly becoming a nation of nonreaders. In 2013, it was
reported that 32 million adults, 14 percent of our population, could not read. Twenty
one percent of the adults that same year read below a fifth grade level. Additionally,
nineteen percent of the high school graduates could not read (Maddie Crum. The
U.S. Illiteracy Rate Hasn t Changed In 10 Years. The Huffington Post). This is
alarming in a wealthy country like the United States. Our society will suffer from
illiteracy in socioeconomic issues if we continue to abandon readingin future years. If
we continue to neglect reading as a nation the literacyrate of children will decrease.
Due to many parents having reading difficulties themselves, they do not read to
their kids at a young age. Often these parents do not encourage reading. According
to the U.S Department of Education, when there is a low amount of parent support
at home the classroom reading score is below the national average by 46 points.
When there is a high amount of parental support at home the classroom reading
score is above the national average by 28 points (NEA Facts about Children s
Literacy ). Children with low parental support come to school behind their
classmates who experienced reading at a young age. When parents read to their
children they learn early reading skills, such as reading from left to right, the
meaning of words, and it increases their vocabulary. Children who come to school
already behind

Behavior Essay

  • 1. Behavior Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Behavior" can be both challenging and fascinating. On one hand, behavior is a complex and multifaceted subject that encompasses a wide range of phenomena, including psychological, sociological, and biological aspects. This complexity can make it difficult to narrow down the focus and structure of the essay. Additionally, behavior is influenced by various factors such as genetics, environment, culture, and personal experiences, adding another layer of intricacy to the analysis. Furthermore, exploring behavior requires a deep understanding of relevant theories, research findings, and methodologies from disciplines like psychology, sociology, anthropology, and neuroscience. Integrating these diverse perspectives coherently within the essay while maintaining clarity and originality can pose a significant challenge. Moreover, writing about behavior often involves grappling with ethical considerations, particularly when discussing controversial topics or sensitive issues such as aggression, addiction, mental health disorders, or social deviance. Balancing academic rigor with sensitivity and respect for the individuals and communities affected by these behaviors requires careful thought and deliberation. Despite these challenges, delving into the study of behavior can be intellectually stimulating and rewarding. It offers opportunities to gain insights into human nature, social dynamics, and the mechanisms underlying individual and collective actions. By engaging critically with the topic, one can develop a deeper understanding of oneself and others, fostering empathy, tolerance, and constructive dialogue. In conclusion, writing an essay on behavior demands thoughtful analysis, interdisciplinary perspective, ethical awareness, and effective communication skills. While it may be challenging, the process can be enriching and enlightening, offering valuable insights into the complexities of human behavior and society. • 2. Essay about Analysis of A Clockwork Orange Analysis and Interpretation of A Clockwork Orange A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, is one of the most experimental, original, and controversial novels of the twentieth century. It is both a compelling work of literature and an in depth study in linguistics. The novel is a satirical, frightening science fiction piece, not unlike others of this century such as George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four or Aldous Huxley s Brave New World. However, the conflicts and resolutions in A ClockworkOrange are more philosophical than social, and its message is far more urgent. A Clockwork Orange is made up of three parts containing 21 chapters, 21 being the official age of human maturity. It is a stream of consciousness novel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Nadsat, orange means man (which is derived from the Malay word orang, meaning man ), so a clockwork orange would be a man moving without pause or thought, as a clockwork (Lund). Burgess says of the title, I mean it to stand for the application of a mechanistic morality to a living organism oozing with juice and sweetness ( Resucked x). After the state reforms him, the novel s hero and narrator Alex becomes a clockwork orange, a man working as a machine. Nadsat is the primary language, although not the exclusive one, of A Clockwork Orange. Burgess claims he uses it to muffle the raw response we expect from pornography. But he also uses it to create a literary adventure ( Resucked x). The use of Nadsat emphasizes many of the struggles involved with A Clockwork Orange s purpose. The struggle between the old and the young the conservative and the progressive is made more sensational by the separation of language. Alex is misunderstood by his parents, the police, and the government philosophically, but also literally, widening the gap between him and the sane world. Burgess also manipulates language in A Clockwork Orange in more traditional ways, in the form of literary and linguistic devices. The novel is saturated with irony and dark humor, dotted with repetition, and laced with word play. Irony is used extensively A Clockwork Orange. One of the most repeated and significant examples of irony is in Alex s description
  • 3. Human Epigenetic Consequences Although not often discuessed in grade school, evolutionary mechanisms span further than simply the inheritance of A T C G DNA nucleotides from our parents. Epigenetics is a specialized field within genetics that focuses on the evolutionary changes induced by genetic factors, such as transposons, and how they can cause an alteration of geneexpression and disease. The study of the human epigenome is still relatively new, and exponentially advancing. With this being said, researchers still have questions regarding this complex evolutionary mechanism s implications in microevolution, and potentially macroevolution (Skinner, 2015). One major constituent of epigenetic study are transposable elements (also called transposons, or jumping genes).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One common technique used to study Alu insertion polymorphisms within genomes utilizes polymerase chain reactions (PCR) in combination with agarose gel electrophoresis (Asari, 2012). PCR is utilized initially, in order to selectively amplify DNA sequences containing the Alu insertion. This technique employs sequence specific primers and taq polymerase in order to carry out successive rounds of elongation (essentially, DNA replication). Once this is complete, it is common to use agarose gel electrophoresis and UV light to visualize the bands of separated DNA. In terms of this experiment, cheek cells were obtained from UNR students in the Biology 395 lab. Using the two described techniques, genotypic frequencies were calculated for the human specific Alu insertion on chromosome 16: homozygous for the insertion (+/+) heterozygous for the insertion (+/ ), and homozygous for the absence of insertion ( / ). As stated previously, the Alu element is the most abundant SINE in the human genome, with over 1 million copies accounting for 10% of the entire genome (Price, Eskin Pevzner, 2004). From this fact, we deduce that we will result in rejection of the null hypothesis stating that students in the Biology 395 lab are in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium for the Alu

Olam ha ba or the world to come is the belief that the soul returns to God to wait to be reborn with the coming of the Messiah. Death allows for Jewish people to value life and their short time spent on earth (Parkes, 101). It is believed that beyond death, life does not include earthly pleasures such as eating and drinking. After death life consists of being, in the glory of the Divine Presence. There is no hell after death as a destination. Rather, happiness to those who lived a righteous life and suffering to those who sinned and led others to sin. There is more of a reward versus punishment system instead of destinations. The punishment given to those in life after death is not set in stone, it is described in the Talmud as, vague and contradictory (Darmesteter, page 51 52). In many branches Christianity it is believed one s soul goes to purgatory when they die and the decision is made weather your soul will spend eternity in heaven or hell. Jewish tradition does not believe that souls end up in one of the two destinations rather, all souls end up in the same place, it is just the journey that is different for different individuals. When your body dies your soul leaves it and begins its journey to return to God, this journey is considered a purification process so your soul is pure in the world to come. The purification process for those who lived a fulfilling and righteous life may only take a day or so while those who lived a life full of sin take a longer time on their journey to purification, taking up to a year. After this purification process is complete Jewish tradition states that the soul is then waiting for the coming of the Messiah when the soul will return to the physical body for final judgment (Parkes,

A Beautiful Day In My Life Five more minutes, I groaned as I layed in my bed one cloudless Monday morning while my mom annoyingly stood in the doorway of my room, rapidly clapping her hands to wake me up. I walked towards the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the fridge. I m very glad you picked this one out of all the apartments we looked at. Me too, Lucas, my mother assured as I cleaned the alluring apple under the running faucet on the island, me too. I took a bite into the crisp golden apple. She asked, Ready for school? • 9. The Revolt Of Mother By Mary E. Wilkins Even in the 21st century, there is still a lingering idea that women strictly belong in the home. This can be attributed to both the continuous, though evolved, embrace of the Cult of Domesticity and natural law. In the eighteenth century the Cult of Domesticity was embraced and challenged by many women, as it is today. The Revolt of Mother by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman is a literary example that reinforces the idea of the Cult of Domesticity by showing the reader the boundaries between genders and the power, however limited, that a womanhas. In contrast, Kate Chopin s The Story of An Hour, shows the constraints that genderroles put on a woman. Chopin s story challenges the Cult of Domesticity by using the character s internal dialogue to show that this was not the life she pictured. The Cult of Domesticity can be tied to other themes, such as the burden of motherhood, as in I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen. The home and the children were all under control of the woman of the house, and though it sometimes feels like a burden, it is the woman s obligation. Olsen did not fully accept nor fully condemn the Cult of Domesticity; she simply presented it as the way of life. By using the main character s internal monologues and their actions to control, or not control, their domains, each of these authors presents their view on the Cult of Domesticity. Wilkin s story, The Revolt of Mother is often misinterpreted by modern readers. Mother is not challenging her role as

Nina also experiences hallucinations, which are another symptom commonly associated with this disorder. Hallucinations are false sensory perceptions that are experienced without an external source. They can be auditory, visual, olfactory, or somatosensory. In Nina s case, she experiences mostly visual and somatosensory hallucinations such as seeing herself pull a feather out of her skin or her physical transformation into the Black Swan when she perceives herself growing feathers and wings. While genetics plays a role in the development of schizophrenia, we cannot come to the conclusion that anyone in Nina s family was a schizophrenic or that it would be the sole cause of her developing the disorder. Environmental stress is shown to also contribute to the development and Nina is overcome with the pressure to achieve perfection and to uphold her company s reputation which creates an atmosphere of extreme stress that she must cope with. In 2013 the average cost for tap water was $2 per every thousand gallons. While bottled was $1.21 for every gallon alone. Here is another way to look at it, if you buy a $1 bottled water everyday for a year, you end up spending $365 on water that most likely is from a tap source (Livingston). Why spend $365 annually on bottled water when you can just use your own faucet or the nearest water fountain? People spend so much money on bottled water that could be used for water charities across the world to help people who don t have access to a clean water supply. This would call for everyone who does have access to a clean tap water source, to use it and take the money that they would rather spend on a bottle and put it towards a greater cause. By choosing to drink tap water you save money daily, weekly, monthly, and annually so before you pay $2.14 for that bottle of purified water remember you have the same, if not better, quality water at your house. Another thing about tap water that is overlooked is how often we use it in our everyday lives. On average, an American family uses 300 gallons of water everyday. Now there is no way one family can drink 300 gallons of water in one day so how do they use that much? The answer is because tap water has multiple uses other than just being drinking water. Portrayal Of Female Sex Workers It is often hard for the average person living in great conditions with all the luxuries this world offers like a nice car, big house, and a family to not stigmatize the profession of female sex workers. Themes of religion, addiction, and shame encompass the every day lives of the sex workers featured in the film Whores Glory1. Are the sex workers working in Thailand, Bangladesh, and Mexico seen as feminists? Do the women featured have control over their bodies? Finally, are these women recognized by society as workers in the film? I will be analyzing the production of the film through it s themes and support my argument that the film Whores Glory1 is not feminist due to it s depiction of female sex workers. Religion plays a major factor in the film by displaying how sex workers feel about certain aspects of their profession. The different women featured from Thailand, Bangladesh, and Mexico seek out religious practices to absolve them from persecution from God. A cleansing of some sort like burning of sage in the working room in Bangladesh, cleansing of black magic in Mexico, and a prayer to Buddha in Thailand are all featured in the film right before their shift1. I found this interesting because I felt that Glawogger attempted to portray a perception of submissiveness to the profession by the sex workers through religious practices. Why do women have to suffer so much? Isn t there another path for us? says a Bangladeshi sex worker who expresses faithlessness to the

Many embryos grow in a petri dish for 2 5 days then the best embryos are selected and implanted into the womb of the mother (Babies, 2011). This form of conception could eventually allow parents to choose certain characteristics or traits that they want their child to have or not to have. Genes could be manipulated and selected to satisfy the wants of the parents. This is commonly referred to as Designer babies (Biggs, 2004). Reproductive cloning could also be used to create siblings of children to have the exact DNAmatch enabling the Saviour Sibling to have perfect compatibility with his/her sick sibling. Organs, blood, bone marrow and anything else the unhealthy child needs can be harvested from the sibling that was created to have the same DNA (Springgs Savulescu, 2002). In The Kite Runner, you were either rich or poor and had power or not, by social class, but the main way was the qualities you had towards people. In Les MisГ©rablesand The Kite Runner, both books show the many ways you could be rich and poor. I will show you how being rich or poor and having power affects the way you act and how you are treated. Some are poor or rich because of their social class, race, or the religion they were born into, social constrictions also played a vital role in what type of person you became. Jean Valjean lived with very little money and he had to take care of his sister and her kids. Society had treated him badly and in return, he became a person poor in good qualities and actions. When Monsieur Madeleine gave him a chance, Jean had changed his ways to become a better person and even a new person. Jean became successful and he started giving his money to people who are in need because he knows how it felt to be treated badly. Jean seen his abilities and power over people, he did not abuse this power. Instead, Jean used his power to help people. The world s general trend towards globalization and capitalism has shifted the way the United States interacts with the rest of the world. This is especially true when it comes to the U.S. s interactions with countries often classified as the Middle East. Pakistan, a nation still finding its bearings not more than half a century into its existence, is one of the nations who has mistakenly, or strategically, gotten caught up with the United Statesin the Middle East. Geographically speaking, Pakistan is Southeast Asia, and not the Middle East. Yet, its cultural, social and economic ties to the Middle Eastern nations makes it... Following the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Pakistani government played a vital role in supporting the Afghan resistance movement and assisting Afghan refugees. Pakistan was the base for the United States to conduct its anti Soviet operations, training and arming the Afghan resistance groups, besides offering shelter to the refugees that fled the country after the Soviet invasion (Foreign Relations, 2013). Ever since the Cold War Afghani and Pakistani tensions have only become more hostile. Prior to the 1979 Soviet invasion, the government and people of Afghanistan historically had warm relations with India. Following India s Independence from Great Britain and Partition, Afghanistan saw India as an ally in its increasingly bitter and occasionally militarized dispute with Pakistan over the inclusion of ethnic Pashtuns in the new state of Pakistan. India, like the Soviet Union, extended diplomatic and moral support to Afghanistan in its irredentist quarrel with Pakistan.38 A natural convergence of interests was inevitable between India and Afghanistan as both states realized that they had a common problem in border relations with Pakistan: Afghanistan over Pashtunistan and India over Kashmir (Yadav, 2011). Not too long after the Cold War, the United States and the world at large was
  • 43. Conservatism In The 1970 s Conservatism began to dominate American politics in the 1980s because the 1960s had seen America get too liberal socially for most people s comfort. The average American was not comfortable with hippies and the anti Vietnam war movement and the riots in cities. The 1970s saw economic trouble and liberal economic solutions that had been used since the New Deal were not working. By the end of the 1970s, people wanted something different, something that could make America strong and prosperous again. Reagan was also able to move the US further to the right politically because the American people loved him and thought the world of him and also because he was a great salesman. Reagan was able to persuade the American people that less government,

  • 46. Total Equality Analysis The Societal Problems of Total Equality I m the Greatest man you ll never know (2081). Harrison Bergeron was indeed the greatest character never known in his society. 2081 and Harrison Bergeron tell of the futuristic society who citizens that excel in normal activities are handicapped to meet the normal population standards. In Harrison Bergeron and the short film 2081, the author and director use similar and different plot structures and characteristics. Each similarity and difference show that limiting variation in a society is dangerous. Harrison Bergeron and the short film 2081 have many similar elements in plot structure and characteristics. For example, The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren t only equal before the law. They were equal in every which way (Vonnegut 38). 2081 choose to incorporate the same beginning narration in the short story. This element sets up the viewer s expectations for the plot and contributes to the idea of what Vonnegut portrays as the conflict of interest in the story. Harrison does not want society to be equal and tries to overthrow the government to change that because he sees the problems with total equality in society. In addition, both the film and short story show how handicaps negatively affect society through Harrison father, George. In 2081, George is shown with a handicap that plays sharp sounds such as a pin hitting a milk bottle to impair his thought process. This detail shows how the
  • 47. John Charles Fields Essay John Charles Fields John Charles Fields is perhaps one of the most famous Canadian Mathematicians of all time. He was born on May 14, 1863 in Hamilton Ontario, and died August 9, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario (Young, 1998). He graduated from the University of Toronto at the age of 21 with a B.A in Mathematics and went on to get his Ph.D. at John Hopkins University in 1887. Fields was very interested to study at John Hopkins University because apparently it was the only university in North America which really stressed research at the time (Fields Institute, n.d.). Fields did original research in the theory of algebraic functions that was influenced by his reknowned mentors, Fuchs, Schwarz, Frobenius and Plank (Fields Medal, n.d.). After two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think it is great to know that one of the greatest mathematicians of all time is Canadian, because most famous mathematicians are of European decent. I think Fields lived a very interesting and dynamic life; he had a chance to pursue his dream of research in mathematics and got to become lifelong friends with the famous mathematician Gosta Mittag Leffler. As opposed to Alfred Nobel, Fields understood the importance of research in mathematics and he did his best to support it and promote it. I think that is the reason why John Charles Fields was able to take mathematics to a new level, because he was so dedicated and passionate about his work. Mathematics is used in many widely different contexts and it is used everyday, although most people don t recognize that and I believe that the creation of the Fields medal was big step in the mathematical universe. In January 1932, Fields indicated that the idea of the medal had the support of the major mathematical societies of France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United States, and he also outlined the principles behind the proposed medal (Fields Institute, n.d). The first Fields medal was awarded in Oslo in 1936. I think the implementation of the Fields medal was a great idea because it served as a reward for outstanding mathematicians and it made mathematics more recognized around the world. Other than the Fields medal, I feel the creation of
  • 48. The Importance Of Reading In Education The United States is increasingly becoming a nation of nonreaders. In 2013, it was reported that 32 million adults, 14 percent of our population, could not read. Twenty one percent of the adults that same year read below a fifth grade level. Additionally, nineteen percent of the high school graduates could not read (Maddie Crum. The U.S. Illiteracy Rate Hasn t Changed In 10 Years. The Huffington Post). This is alarming in a wealthy country like the United States. Our society will suffer from illiteracy in socioeconomic issues if we continue to abandon readingin future years. If we continue to neglect reading as a nation the literacyrate of children will decrease. Due to many parents having reading difficulties themselves, they do not read to their kids at a young age. Often these parents do not encourage reading. According to the U.S Department of Education, when there is a low amount of parent support at home the classroom reading score is below the national average by 46 points. When there is a high amount of parental support at home the classroom reading score is above the national average by 28 points (NEA Facts about Children s Literacy ). Children with low parental support come to school behind their classmates who experienced reading at a young age. When parents read to their children they learn early reading skills, such as reading from left to right, the meaning of words, and it increases their vocabulary. Children who come to school already behind
