Tips For Writing Descriptive Essays
Writing an essay on the subject of "Tips For Writing Descriptive Essays" can be both challenging
and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in presenting general advice but in crafting a piece
that embodies the very principles it seeks to convey. Descriptive essays demand a keen attention
to detail, a mastery of language, and the ability to evoke sensory experiences through words.
Communicating the nuances of observation and creating a vivid mental picture for the reader
requires a careful selection of descriptive elements, ensuring they work harmoniously to paint a
rich tapestry of imagery.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between detail and conciseness. Too much
detail can overwhelm the reader, while too little may leave the essay lacking the immersive
quality characteristic of a successful descriptive piece. Choosing the right words to convey the
intended atmosphere and utilizing literary devices such as similes and metaphors can add depth
and complexity to the writing, but it's a fine line to tread.
Furthermore, the task involves not only describing static scenes but also capturing dynamic
moments and conveying a sense of movement and progression. This requires a nuanced
understanding of pacing and structure to ensure the essay flows smoothly and maintains the
reader's engagement.
In addition to the technical aspects, the writer must connect with the audience emotionally.
Descriptive essays often aim to evoke feelings and resonate with the reader on a personal level.
Achieving this emotional connection necessitates a thoughtful consideration of the target
audience and an awareness of the emotions the chosen descriptive elements are likely to evoke.
Despite the challenges, crafting an essay on this topic provides an opportunity for personal
expression and creativity. The writer must find their unique voice and style while adhering to the
principles of effective descriptive writing. It's a journey that requires practice, revision, and a
genuine passion for bringing the written word to life.
In conclusion, tackling the intricacies of writing a descriptive essay on the suggested topic
demands a combination of technical skill, creativity, and a deep understanding of the emotional
impact of words. It's a task that can be both daunting and fulfilling, offering the writer a chance
to refine their descriptive prowess. For those seeking assistance with essays or exploring similar

The Cardiovascular System Of Heart Rate
The cardiovascular system is the body s way of circulating blood and the essential
biomolecules that make living possible. Blood is pumped throughout the body by the
heart, the heart receives oxygenated blood from the lungs via the pulmonary vein and
distributes it using the various arteries and capillaries (Farley et al.). A main
constituent for the cardiovascular system and a heavily relied upon factor for
measuring the hearts work is heart rate. Heart rate is a numerical value that quantifies
the number of times the heart contracts which means opening and closing the valves
that are responsible for the bloodmovement (Mariaconsuelo et al.). Contractions in
terms of heart rate are referred to as beats thus the numerical value is beats per
minute (BPM). Heart rate can be affected by numerous factors such as physical
stress, chemicals introduced into the bloodstream through the environment, as well
as naturally produced chemical compounds produced by the body in response to a
need. To determine what exactly happens inside the body when these numerous
factors come into play we set up various experiments that will give us a measurable
outcome. The first experimental variable we tested in lab was physical stress and
how it changes the heart rate in humans. The way heart rate is measured is via an
instrument called an electrocardiogram (EKG) which is a machine that measures the
electrical differences that correspond to heart beats. An EKG displays its results with
Judaism, Christianity And Islam
When death occurs in our family or in close friendships, the psychological
consequences of the loss can be devastating. Feelings of emptiness, hopelessness or
helplessness can have a major impact on our mental and physical health. Fortunately,
throughout history, different cultures and religions have created ways for the
mourners to cope with the tragedy of losing a loved one. In this paper, I will be
comparing the advantages offered by religious traditions for the mourners, focusing
on Judaism, Christianityand Islam. In addition, I will be contrasting them with the
benefits offered by our modern secular funeral services. To start, Judaism s priorities
are on community and on law. Therefore, Jewish traditions regarding procedures after
the deathof an individual are very strict and extensive. First, the mourners are
identified: children, parents, spouses and siblings. These family members are
prohibited from participating in any funeral preparations and from continuing doing
daily activities such as working, cooking or bathing. In fact, the only thing that the
mourners are expected to do is to think about the deceased and to process their death,
because they are thought to be too broken to function. This temporary stop of daily
functioning and responsibilities can be very healing, as it gives them time to solely
dedicate themselves to grieving. Furthermore, although mourners aren t allowed to do
anything, during the Shiva, their basic needs are covered by the community,
Representation Of Cain In The Bible
In the Biblical story of Cain and Abel from the book Genesis, there is no doubt that
Cain was the central character. It was Cain, who got so angry, when God preferred
Abel s gift over Cain s, it was also him, who had a conversation with God about the
role of sin in man s life and at the end, it was him who killed his own brother, but on
the other hand lived a long life full of children. This story is mainly about Cain, so is
Steinbeck s East of Eden. In the first generation of the Trask family, Charles is
considered as Cain representative. Charles is stronger, faster and more intelligent than
his brother Adam. When growing up, he won all the contests he had with his Adam,
so when he got bored with him, he found competition amongst others. At one time,
when Adam and Charles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neither Charles nor Caleb is described as pure evil, since many times throughout
the novel they show genuine signs of goodness. In the first generation of the
Trasks, it is Charles, although younger, who protects his older brother against
bullies and their own father (East of Eden 26). After Cyrus dies, when Adam comes
back home and they first talk about their father, Adam says that he didn t love their
father and that he hated him. Charles starts crying and he explains to Adam that
Cyrus loved Adam more than anything in the world; also he mentions the gift they
gave their father and how he loved the puppy Adam gave him and at the end, it was
Charles who says that he loved him, even after the rejection (East of Eden 85).
Caleb, although he considers himself responsible for the death of his brother Aron,
loves both Aron and Adam; he even offers to work at the ranch to put Aron through
college (East of Eden
Bertrand Russell The Value Of Philosophy Summary
In The Value of Philosophy , Bertrand Russell an important social critic and one of
the greatest philosophers of the 20th century refutes the idea of philosophy being
pointless and a waste of time (The Value of Philosophy). Although philosophers have
not agreed on one exact definition for this branch of knowledge, philosophyis
generally understood as an academic discipline which aims to cover a variety of
topics through arguing, inquiring, assuming, and testing arguments for weakness in
order to gain knowledge and grasp a better sense of life (Lectures 1 2, Package).
Russell makes strong arguments for philosophy being beneficial, especially when
one is open to seeking a deeper understanding of life and why the universe operates
the way that it does. Despite philosophy s inability to definitively answer the
questions that it seeks to understand, in Russell s opinion, it holds a great amount of
valueone of those values being uncertainty. Russell initiates his argument of the
distinct values of philosophy by discussing the practical man . According to Russell,
the practical man is mainly aware of physical necessities such as shelter and food but
is ignorant of the mindneeding nourishment (Russell 11). In other words, constantly
feeding the brain, therefore gaining intellect is just as important as obtaining physical
goods . Russell then proceeds onto explaining how philosophy has not been able to
answer the questions that people in this discipline have brought

16 March 2015 How Religion in Rome Influenced the Development of Culture
When most students and even some scholars study history, they view the past as
just a series of facts and occurrences. And unfortunately, this is more or less the
only way we are able to view history, simply because it has all happened many many
years ago. But if we were able to look at history the way we look at our lives today,
as not just a series of facts, but as a real era with real, living people, then we can
gain an enormous amount of insight into what a certain period in history was truly
like. We can begin to view history this way by studying how one event influences
another. One incredibly rich and marvelous culture to which you can apply this
method of studying history is Rome, and how it s religion affected the development
of culture.
Rome was a nation to which religion was immensely important, and it had a very
prominent place in society: so much so that it changed the face of the Roman Empire
forever. Religion and spirituality in Rome influenced all areas of daily life for
Romans, including social, political, economic, and governmental aspects.
One of the most visible ways Rome was affected by religion was in and through
society.
In Rome, there were many separations between the rich and the poor in society, but
religious rituals were one, if not the only thing that tied them together. No matter your
social status or
The Role of Brands in the Marketing of Technology Products
Abstract
This paper aims to explain the strategic importance of branding in the technology
industry and the significant role branding plays in creating brand identity
individuality. We will mention some major market factors that make technology
companies invest in branding more than anytime before. We will also discuss how
branding is essential for technology companies to differentiate their products from
other companies that produce similar ones and also the role of branding in protecting
the brands from piracy and steeling through out official and registered trademarks.
The paper will also discuss the brand positioning strategy and how it gives a unique
identity for brands and also how branding can change the customer negative ... Show

As a result, Intel now has become the market leader in its field and built up a wide
base of end users who will not buy a computer if it does not include Intel processer
inside. Because of the strong branding strategy, Intel has become the most trusted IT
brand in the glob.
There is no doubt that strong brands attract more customers and by time these
customers become more and more loyal to these brands. This loyalty to brands
increases the customers willingness to pay a higher price 20% 25% more than
competing brands 3. But to reach up to this point, companies should be always
innovative, making their products and services better and offering new added values
to their customers.
Positioning
The competition in the technology market and the race of winning big market shares,
made the technology companies to open new markets for new products, for instance
the entertainment industry. As an example, Sony has early realized the importance of
being different in this crowded market, so it was the one which introduced the
industry of entertainment and then it has become the leader in this market. Sony
made a lot of innovation to position itself as an entertainment leader, In 1988, Sony
bought CBS records and the following year it acquired Columbia Pictures
Entertainment. Sony Music Entertainment is now one
Christianity in Shakespear s Hamlet
Faith plays a large role in how one lives their life. Christianity plays a strong role
throughout Hamlet by William Shakespeare. When reading the play one must think
of the controversies of the time when Shakespeare writes the play. Reformation and
Renaissance opinions are reflected throughout. Shakespeare deals with very
controversial attitudes and religious questions dealing with death, the existence of
purgatory, morality, murder, suicide and marriage
in his play Hamlet. It is obvious
throughout the play that Hamlet s life is guided by his faith and his religious beliefs.
At first, Hamlet sees the ghost of his dead father and vows to avenge his death.

To be, or not to be? That is the question whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the
slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And, by opposing, end them? To die, to sleep No more and by a sleep to say we
end the heartache and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to tis a
consummation Devoutly to be wished! (Shakespeare 53). At this point Hamlet is
questioning whether he should live or die and whether it would be better to live
his life in agony or end it and in turn end the pain. He is troubled that if he were to
take his own life he would end up not in purgatory but in hell because taking one s
life was considered to be an unforgiveable sin. It is unfortunate that Hamlet is in a
place in his life where he thinks killing himself would perhaps be more of an option
than living under the circumstances, which surround him. Hamlet decides that he
does not want to risk eternal peace in heaven for peace he may find while on earth in
a difficult situation. Hamlet also uses his Christian ideals when struggling with the
idea of killing his step father. He has several opportunities to do so the primary one
is when he walks in on Claudius praying. Hamlet can t commit murder when the
person is praying because then that would send the person straight to heaven. Hamlet
does not want Claudius to end up living in heaven but rather he wants to make sure
that Claudius is sent to Hell. Hamlet
Concept Analysis Of Anesthesia Awareness
The thought of being awake or aware while having a surgical procedure performed
under general anesthesia is frightening to say the least. Studies show that this actually
happens in one in every 19,000 operations (Oginski, n.d.). This paper is a concept
analysis of anesthesia awareness. Within this analysis the definition of anesthesia
awareness will be addressed, as well as, the historical perspectives of this concept.
A modified version of Wilson s classic concept analysis procedure will be used to
explain the aim and purpose of the analysis, identify current uses of the concept, and
determine the defining attributes. A model case will be discussed that will support
the aim of the analysis. Borderline, related and contrary cases will... Show more

Muscle paralyzing drugs are given to cause paralysis in the muscles of the body.
This is done to prevent muscle spasms around the area being operated on, and to
prevent the patient from inadvertently moving during the procedure which could
make some surgeries virtually impossible to perform. The muscles of the heart are
not affected by muscle paralyzing medications, otherwise patients would not be
able to stay alive while under general anesthesia. These muscle paralyzing
medications also do not cause paralysis in the patient s bladder or bowel muscles,
this explains why patients under general anesthesia do not experience incontinence
of urine or feces. Furthermore, muscle paralyzing medications only paralyze the
muscles of the body, they do not have an effect on the patient s brain function, this
helps to explain how a person can be aware while at the same time be paralyzed.
While the patient is paralyzed, they cannot move or speak, and they cannot breathe.
To aide breathing during general anesthesia, patients are placed on an anesthesia
ventilator, also known as a respirator which takes over the patient s breathing while
paralyzed by these medications ( Anesthesia Aware ,
How Learning Areas Such As The Arts And Literacies Are...
1.Discuss how learning areas such as the arts and literacies are woven into an
integrated curriculum, with reference to the Aotearoa New Zealand context and Te
Whariki (Ministry of education, 1996).
Arts and literacies are woven into an integrated curriculum giving children the ability
to problem solve, communicate without language and express themselves in a verbal
and non verbal way. A child s learning development is influenced by their
communication with other children and adults, the environment, philosophy and the
facilities in the centre (Educational Review Office. 2011). Te Whariki perspective is
that a child participates in the arts: for personal, social and cultural purposes, allowing
that child to becoming confident and competent. A child will contribute their
individual abilities and perspectives with others making sense of their worlds
(Ministry of Education. 2009).
Te Whariki is an integrated curriculum this is evident by the woven mat (Ministry of
Education 1996. P13) this shows how the arts and literacies can be integrated,
throughout the New Zealand curriculum Te Whariki in a New Zealand context. To
form the mat there are four lots of principles which include; Holistic Development,
Empowerment, Family and community and relationships. There are also five lots of
strands including contribution, communication, exploration, well being and
belonging. The principles and strands which are interwoven all support and promote
the child s holistic development.
Caacio E Pepe
The structure of this recipe is simple, only listing the ingredients and writing the
instructions in paragraph format. Each of the ingredients gives a specific
measurement, indicating that this variation of the recipe was written after the
invention of standardized measurements. Overall, the structure itself is not
interesting or different from most of the other recipes we have studied this term.
Techniques for this recipe are relatively simple, only requiring the cook to mix in
ingredients and boil water. These are skills that most people can complete (although
my father probably could not), making it a simple recipe to make. Also, the cook
must remember to add some of the pasta water into the cheesemix, so the pasta will
not dry out, and to melt the cheese. According to Professor Borghini, Cacio e Pepe
was originally considered a poor persons food, so it makes sense that the recipe is not
over complicated; if a person is struggling to put food on the table, they are not

These ingredients are interesting, because they do not reflect the poor heritage the
recipe originates from. For example, it calls for both butter and olive oil, both of
which are considered rich foods. According to Diner, olive oil was expensive, so
the poor could not eat it, but consumed it often in America. Also, Professor
Borghini mentioned that these cheeses would have been too expensive for the
poor to purchase, so it would have been only one cheese, and most likely not a lot
of it. The pepper would have been used to make it taste spicy while they did not
have money for other ingredients. Through analysis, it becomes clear that this take
on the recipe is modern, from a group of people who have the means to make this
recipe fancier than their
Autonomy in Hamlet and Oedipus
For their injustices, Oedipus must be exiled from Thebes: Socrates must drink
hemlock and die. Discuss the extent to which Oedipus and Socrates final moments
are determined by past acts of autonomy.
Socrates is a character who is seen as person who dies for his ideals. He sees himself
as a public servant who has lived his life helping the people of the city with his
practice of philosophy and by living his life within the boundaries of the laws and
justices of society. Socrates sees this as a commitment by an invisible contract and he
must commit himself to obey them even though these laws have wronged him. He is
urged by his friend Crito to escape but Socrates feels that this would be wrong as it is
going against state, country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clearly the curse was Oedipus own idea. The autonomy of his own actions are seen
when we witness a sequence of characters pleading for him to stop the investigation
and become accepting of ignorance: once at the beginning with Teiresias,
(Sophocles, 1970, p. 9), twice in the middle by Jocasta, (Sophocles, 1970, pp. 17
amp;22), and the end by the shepherd, (Sophocles, 1970, p. 26) and still he does not
adhere to their advice, but carries on with his questioning and investigation. Oedipus
s fate is not forced upon his actions, but show that his actions are of a free king and
man.
Fate and free will is a powerful question in both works. For Socrates it shows that
free will has limitations and that there are other elements at play which tend to
hamper full realization of individual autonomy. For Oedipus, this seems to be clearly
defined in that he seeks to outrun his own destiny. He believes that his use of
freedom and clarity in judgment can overcome what is fated to be. In this light one
can see Oedipus as seeking to appropriate a domain that is not in his control.
Eventually he ends up paying dearly for it. For Socrates, autonomy is a bit more
muddled. It does not necessarily invoke the fate condition to limit human freedom,
but rather argues that there are other factors perhaps within us that seem to curtail our
own use of freedom. The limiting function is not outside the individual, but rather
within them.

Gram-Positive Bacteria
Bacteria have many properties in that some are very harmful, pathogenic, and others
are extremely beneficial in many ways to humans and to all types of organisms.
Some live within plants, fungi and humans. An example in the human body is
Lactobacillus Johnsonii which is a bacteria that helps infants digest milk smoothly (it
is found in the gut)( Anwar MA and others 2008). Every type of bacteriais classified
according to features that can be studied further for differing properties and what
separates each strain into different categories.
Shape, internal composition and respiration mode are three ways bacterium are
classified. Differences in internal composition varies by the amount, thickness, of
peptidoglycan in bacteria cell walls. Gram negative cells have a thin layer of
peptidoglycan within the membrane layers, whereas gram positive have a thick layer

According to page 24 of the lab manual, Gram positive bacteria are able to grow on
a PEA medium but not EMB lactose (Holbrook Leicht, 2013). Therefore, further
testing had to be done that would identify the gram positive or gram negative state
in the Catalase and Oxidase test. The result of the KOH Test, also Table 1, as gram
positive, because the bacterium we tested did not form a string. Because of the
mixture of identities the Catalase test and Oxidase test were used (Figure 2). These
both resulted in a very strong gram positive reaction. During the Catalase test, after
placing a drop of H2O2 on our slide, an immediate strong reaction of bubbles formed.
This confirms our specimen as catalase positive bacteria. The Oxidase test showed
strong reaction in the gram positive designated areas confirming, with the Catalase
test, that the bacteria most likely is gram positive. This concludes the observational
based testing

Cutaneous Larva Diagnosis
Diagnosis and management of cutaneous larva migrans By Dr. Liji Thomas, MD
Cutaneous larva migrans is caused by the epidermal migration of the filariform
larvae of various hookworm and occasionally, dog tapeworm, species. The most
common type is due to the dog/cat hookworm Ancylostoma braziliense. It manifests
as a red or vesicular lesion at the site of entry of the larva, usually between the toes of
the bare foot. The skin around this papule is usually pruritic. Symptoms of severe
itching start immediately after infestation, and are associated with the appearance of
an advancing reddish, serpiginous rash. This lesion is usually benign, and lasts for
weeks to months. Eventually the larvae, having entered an accidental host, die

As a result they die within weeks or months, and the symptoms vanish. However,
the severe itching for several weeks or months may be intolerable. It can lead to
scratching with the risk of secondary skin infection. Also, there is a risk of
complications, such as impetigo, hyper eosinophilia and allergic reactions to the
presence of the larvae. Treatment of cutaneous larva migrans may be done with 10
15% thiabendazole ointment or solution topically three times a day for 15 days.
Within 48 hours the itching stops and the rash ceases to advance. The treatment is
difficult if there are multiple rashes or hookworm infestation of the skin follicles.
Oral thiabendazole is less effective than oral albendazole, having a cure rate of 68

and produces a cure in 46 100%. Another option is ivermectin, which is used off
label for this purpose, a single oral dose of 12 mg being effective in 81 100%.
Moreover, the relapse rate is very low with this drug. Antibacterial or antibiotic

Analysis Of Richard Rodriguez s A Stranger And Strange...
Comparative Analysis
Over the past month, we have been studying the concept of reading and writing in
different communities. To assess this, we have read two different texts. Richard
Rodriguez s the achievement of desire , from his autobiography Hunger of Memory ;
and Lucille McCarthy s A Stranger in Strange Lands: A College Student Writing
across the Curriculum from Research in the Teaching of English . Both answer key
questions regarding what it takes to become a great reader and writer, however,
from the reading that I have done, each one only answers one part of the question.
Rodriguez s main focus is in the aspect of reading, whereas McCarthy mainly
focuses on the writing portion. Both do a decent job of analyzing and putting forth
a view of how they believe a person can best perform in these environments. This
then allows us to use their concepts and create our own version, based on their
points of view. But why should we care? Most people at this level of academia will
have developed a system of writing that works for them, and will have a difficult
time breaking from it if they re process doesn t meet the criteria that Rodriguez, and
McCarthy put forth. The reason it s so important is because of implications these
ideas have. Both authors put forth concepts that are indirectly related to one another
and that are highly beneficial to all who will apply them. They will force you to
conform to new environments in order to succeed, this in turn will make you more
Essay on Isaac Storm
Isaac Storm
On Friday evening, September 7, 1900, many of the 37,000 residents of Galveston,
Texas, were settling down to dinner, few if any of them concerned about the steady
15 mph northerly wind rattling their windows. Within 48 hours, at least 8,000 of the
townspeople would be dead, victims of the single worst natural disaster in U.S.
history. Relatively few people are aware that the deadliest natural disaster in the

Throughout the night, the people of Galveston fought to survive. Buildings and
homes began collapsing; blowing debris killed or maimed many people who
managed to remain above the rising tide. Water poured through second story

wind driven debris. The tide reached 15 feet with breakers more that 25 feet. Many

By the morning, floodwaters had drained back into the sea. The corpses of people

least 6,000 to 7,000 Galveston resident were dead. Isaac survived along with his 3

Forrest Gump Historical Perspectives
Forrest Gump is a film based on a 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom
and produced by Robert Zemeckis. The film portrays several decades in the life of
Forrest Gump, a slow witted, naГЇve but goodhearted man from Greenbow, Alabama.
Gump witnesses these events and in some cases influences these events to happen
(Wikipedia 1). In the midst of the film Jenny Curan, her childhood friend and lover,
appears throughout the film also taking part in some of these events. Forrest Gump
revises popular memories of the 1960 s and 1970 s through its representations of
history (Wang 92). Gump takes place in many comical but important historical events
along with Jenny, such as, the Hippie Movement, the Vietnam War, and the Ping
Pong Diplomacy. To begin with, the Hippie Movement occurred during the mid 1960
s. The Hippie Culture emerged mainly among the youth population and their number
one belief was their anti sentiments towards the Vietnam War. Hippies were known
for the type of music they listened to, their way of dressing, their openness to sexual

gave its approval, since the President did want to improve relations with Communist
China (Berkowitz 40). Soon enough it was agreed that the American table tennis
team would also be used for foreign affairs. Many people do not know that the Ping
Pong Diplomacy was in fact something true that occurred in the 1970 s. The film

Culture is a shared set of beliefs, values, goals, and attitudes within a social, racial,
or religious group. Someone s culture is easily shown, even if in only in the slightest
ways. The things people say, their specific beliefs, or the choices they make can give
a deep insight into someone s culture. I feel that culture, in one way or another, is
clearly presented in On Crimeand Punishment by Khalil Gibran as well as The
Journey of Ibn Fattouma , by Naguib Mahfouz. On Crime and Punishment by Khalil
Gibran discusses how crimes are committed, but there is almost always more to the
story. Even though this is Arabic literature, I feel that this applies to many cultures. In

On the way, he meets an old man who is supposed to help him get to the land of
Gebel, but first he must join the other followers to prepare for the journey. I feel
that culture is shown within this part of the text because all of the followers of the
old man sit with him each day to listen and sing. The groups shared behavior and
belief that by doing this, they will be prepared to go to the land of Gebel shows
culture within that community. Each day they do the same thing because it is
what they all know and believe and that is exactly what culture is. It also shows an
insight into how the culture teaches people to respect their elders. The people are
following and listening to the old man because he is old and considered wiser than
everyone else. This is a common belief among many cultures. In the end of the
text, I think it also shows how people can choose to break away from their culture.
It may be that it no longer benefits them or they are just tired of conforming to that
culture s standards. Specifically referring to the text, the group leaves to go to the
land of Gebel even though they are not fully prepared for the journey. Due to certain
circumstances, they are told to leave their land. However, they made that final choice
to leave, even though the old man said they were not yet ready. They made the
conscious decision to break away from what they know,

Jonson, and Paul Dunbar allow us to see beauty in different forms, however all
meaning the same thing. From beauty in simplicity, beauty in showing one s true
emotions, and beauty in equality. The White City , Still To Be Neat, Still To Be
Dressed , and We Wear The Mask, reveal the definition of beauty in deviating
embodiments. The juxtaposition, repetition, and antithesis in the poems helps clarify
the author s purpose.
In Claude McKay s The White City, the beauty he perceives in the city is
juxtaposed with the reality that dwells in it. From a distance, McKay views the city
of his dreams, he describes it having towers as high they touch the clouds, though,
the city s environment fills him with hatred it is the only thing keeping him alive .
Although, he describes it as heaven in the white world s hell (Arp, 892). The strong
opposing connotation McKay notes, symbolizes the atmosphere in the city he so
desires. His heaven would be what the people in the city would consider hell . Since
the poem was written during the 1920s, a moment when racism and segregation was
highly concentrated. McKay describes heaven to be a place where blacks can be
mixed with the whites, which for the white city it would be hell. Likewise, for the
white city heaven would be McKay s hell, and conversely. The contrast helps to

Story Of Pegasus Research Paper
Pegasus is my favorite constellation. It lies in the northern sky and looks like a box
with legs. I like the idea of a horse with wings that can not only gallop across land
but also fly freely through the sky. I dream sometimes of having my own winged
horse to ride and for this reason Pegasus is my favorite constellation.
The story of Pegasus finding his way into the night sky begins with the death of
Medusa. Upon her beheading Pegasus jumped out and began living on Mount
Helicon. On Mount Helicon, Bellerophon, a Greek hero, claimed Pegasus and chose
to fly with him to Mount Olympus, the home of the Gods. Upon the way, Zeus, the
father of the pantheon, who lived on Mount Olympus, sent a horsefly to disrupt
Bellerophon s voyage. The horse fly bit Pegasus and caused him to buck

alternate version in which Pegasus was born as a normal horse in a simple farming
village on earth. An uncommon colt, Pega his original name, would not eat grass,
roam the pasture or even preen himself like the other colts. Instead Pega just laid
about, growing dirtier and dirtier by the day. He was so dirty that Pega attracted a
lot of flies...much more than the average horse. Although he usually didn t mind, one
day the flies became too much for even him to bear. They were buzzing around and
biting him so much that he had had it. He started to run to get a way from

Buying a New Car
XECO/212 Principles of Economics

Buying a new car is fun and exciting but there are many factors in today s market
that are affecting those who want to purchase a new car. Not only are fuel prices
incredibly high and expected to go higher based on tensions in the Middle East,
employment is looking up but many are still without jobs or enough income to
purchase a new vehicle. There are a few car makers that understand those looking for
an economic vehicle that gets great gas mileage. Some of the factors that could cause
possible changes in the supply and demand of a new car are again unemployment.
This affects demand more than anything. If you do not have income to pay for a new

If automakers adjust the price of their vehicles to down to entice more people to
buy a new car demand may rise even with the ever rising price per gallon of gas. A
new car for many may be a luxury item and not a necessity at this given time and if
the prices of new cars rise you may see the demand drop. However; if people are
still driving cars with poor MPG they may trade for an affordable fuel efficient
model and the demand for these types of cars could increase and the price could rise
marginally as well so that they were still considered affordable. RESOURCES:

Why Is Forbidden Books Banned
Forbidden Books: Why banning books is never a good idea.
Numerous books have been prohibited by various people and countries all over the
world, however, is it really intelligent to do so? At the very least, I personally
believe that it s a completely ridiculous idea and that an approach of such likes
should be lost. Everybody, regardless of their background or living status, have a
right to read what they desire for. Without question, booksare one of the great human
inventions which originate from the will to record one s ideas, findings and
memories to pass down to future generations.
First of all, the possession of someone s freedom and the right to choose and read is
essential, therefore the banning of particular books, to me, is nonsense. However, it
is understandable that many books consist of uncomfortable explicit content which ...

Literary Analysis of Sunrise over Fallujah
The novel Sunrise Over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers is a historical fiction
novel that retells the memories of Robin Perry s experience in Iraqi civil war. He
was in a civil affairs unit, which is dedicated to protecting by standers in the war.
Robin encounters various setbacks that try to slow down the progress of his unit
such as the death of his close friend Jonsey. Walter Dean Myers portrayed his

Moreover, aspects from the past are important in a historical fiction novel because the
readers see key elements develop. Many authors suggest that Any aspect from the past
can be useful to the present day novelist attempting to reanimate it to serve as the
context for character and plot development (Facts). Plots and characters begin
developing from the author s research of aspects from the Iraq War. Furthermore, the
war in Iraq was full of question, which created many aspects for Walter Dean
Myers to choose from. Captain Miller was Mad because there were kids in and
playing around the school when they attacked it (p. 100, 24 25). Those types of
features from the war in Iraq helped the author develop fictional characters. In
addition, aspects from the war in Iraq can be used for the development of the plot.
For example, at one point in the novel The vehicle ahead of Robin s crew made a
sharp U turn, RPGs! Jonsey shouted; he braked to a skidding halt (p. 101, 23). This
commonly used tactic of the Iraqi military was a feature that Walter Dean Myers
used to help develop the plot. After analyzing the novel, readers quickly realize the
importance of using aspects to develop characters and the plot.
Finally, the most important part of a historical fiction novel by far is the
believability of the plot. Moreover, the plot of a historical fiction novel is the most
important part because this specific element of a novel is what keeps the readers
Censoring the Internet
Censoring the Internet When most people think about the internet, they think of it as
a super highway system that has the capability to transfer information. The internet
grew up to become an expanding source for amusement and intelligence; in a way
that we have never seen before. Since there isn t anything like the internet, as more
people become more recognized with the internet, the information that surrounds the
internet develops as well. Anyone can post ideas about whatever they want at any
time of the day. The internet allows us to debate or discuss our personal or social
thoughts willingly. With the use of spreading information, without buying additional
materials to post information, the internet seemingly grew into the power hub of
information. There has been a thriving dispute over whether there should be
restrictions to the material we post. Some believe that the internet should be
censored, which would have the ability to block any content that is believed to be a
danger for society. I believe that some information should be censored like the
promotion of weapons and pornographyto children, but that should be the parents
issue. Since the internet grew up to be such a huge part of our world, I believe that
censoring the internet would create more problems for the future. The internet
belongs to everyone, so we should all have the ability to post anything we want to
say. Censoring the internet is like having a prison guard monitoring everything you

Causes And Cure Of Ringworm

Title: Cause and Cure of Ringworm
Ringworm is an issue that could transpire at any age and time. It makes the
influenced zone look repulsive. Ringworm resembles a little fix on the skin, which
has an aroused red ring. It spreads towards outwards and develops. The region inside
the ring is dark and inconsistent. The patch steadily develops into a vast ring step by

Battle Analysis of the Battle of Little Bighorn Essay
Battle Analysis of the Battle of Little Bighorn
On June 25, 1876, The Battle of Little Bighorn took place near the Black Hills in
Montana. This was one of the most controversial battles of the 20th century and the
line between good guys and bad guys was grey at best. Gen. George Armstrong
Custer (reduced to LTC after the civil war) had 366 men of the 7thU.S. Cavalry under
his command that day. Sitting Bull (A Medicine Man) led 2000 braves of the Lakota,
Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes (Klos, 2013). At the conclusion of the battle,
the stories of the Indians savagery were used to demonize their culture and there
were no survivors from the 7thcavalry to tell what really happened.

Black Hills. Attempts by the government to buy back the land failed, and many
Indians left their reservations and headed for the Black Hills, where a new and

(Batten, 2012).
Social. The honor of his country weighed lightly in the scale against the glorious
name of Geo. A Custer . The hardship and danger to his men were worthy of little
consideration when dim visions of a star (promotion) floated before the excited mind
of our Lieutenant Colonel. T Ewert, Private 7th Cavalry. Custer was a glory hunter

meant nothing when it impeded the progression of his military career.
Information. The Indians knew the 7thCavalry were coming allowing Sitting Bull to
mass his forces. Custer had no idea of the size, location, or weapons prior to the
actual conflict. Had he known these factors he wouldn t have split his forces leaving
him spread thin at Custer hill and he would have taken a different approach to
attacking the Native Americans.

Indians. The U.S. Cavalry was strictly governed by doctrine, knowing only how to

Strategic Analysis Of Under Armour Case
As consultants, we decided to do a strategic analysis on Under Armour Inc., an
American manufacturer of footwear, sports and casual apparel. We selected Under
Armour because of their renowned reputation in the U.S. and because of their recent
fluctuating financials. The most noticeable fluctuation was the $100 million dropin
profits, which was initially attributed to a lack of seasonal sales in the beginning of
2017. However, we discovered that a lack of seasonal sales was not the sole factor
that contributed to the recent poor sales but that it was the recent strategic shifts by
the company. These strategic moves were categorized into four groups: Branding,
Investment, Identifying Trends and Distribution.
We, therefore, recommend that the company investment into the new growing trend
of of fashionable athletic wear apparel, focusing primarily on their female customer
base. This new female apparel line will hopefully boost future earnings by serving
one of the fastest growing markets in the United States. In addition, it will hopefully
attract more female customers, who still perceive the brand as being male centric .
Through thorough analysis, we believe that this the best course of action for the
company because of several factors that contribute, but are not limited to this new
trend such as the increase in health conscious, an increase in athletic wear apparel and
the growing number of active gym members across the country.

Two Features of the Photo-Electric Effect Essay
The photo electric effect, which was first documented by Einstein in
1905, and posited that the energy of liberated electrons is linearly dependent on the
frequency of incident photons. This paper investigates this relationship and measures
Planck s constant
($4.36pm 0.04e{ 21}$MeVs), and the work function of the photo diode
($ 1.52pm0.02$V). Another phenomena which is checked is the charging time of the
stopping potential voltage. While there was some dependence between stopping
voltage and intensity, this effect is mostly systematic. Both of these experiments
provide evidence that the energy imparted by incident photons is dependent on the
frequency, and the number of photo electrons is dependent on the number of ... Show

This gives the following relationship:
begin{equation}
label{eq:linearPE}
V = frac{h}{e}nu frac{W_o}{e}
end{equation}
This allows the measurement of the stopping voltage as a function of frequency.
Fixing the elementary charge ($e$) as a known, this allows for an experimental
determination of Planck s constant ($h$) and the work function of the material
($W_o$). This paper examines two scenarios. The first is a fit to the data using
(ref{eq:linearPE}) to measure $h$ and $W_o$. The second scenario investigates the
time dependence of the charge development as a function of intensity.
subsection{Theory}
The photo electric effect is explained in the following situation.
Photons with an energy $hnu$ are incident on a material which can be characterized
by a work function $W_o$. This work function represents the amount of energy
required to liberate an electron from the atom.
The effect postulates a number of experimental results which are easily tested. One is
that the work function $W_o$ is independent of the intensity of the incident photons.
Here we define intensity as a number density rather than something which scales with
the amplitude of the incident electromagnetic waves. This means that the energy of
the ejected photons will be independent of the number of incident photons because
each electron ejected will be related to the incident photon energy.
Conversely, this predicts that the number of liberated

Speed Racer, Astro Boy, Voltron, and Robotech. These shows were ones that hold
watchers attention for about 30 minutes each day.
In many ways, Anime is also a state of mind; a state of understanding that many
Americans have trouble getting to (Barlow 1). Many Americans do not accept
animation as a medium for storytelling and believe it is meant for children. This is
why Anime has not hit as powerfully in the states as it has in Japan and other
countries. This is why there is hardly any market base for it.
One reason why there is no market for it in the U.S. is that Anime is highly
stereotypical. The stereotype image of Japanese Anime and manga (Japanese comic

it is all about big eyes, big breasts, big hair, mechs (huge robots), and lots of gore.

academics. The lack of concentration as a result of cellphone overuse among students
leads to things like procrastination as a result of them not knowing what to focus on
for readings, assignments, and essays. This could in turn lead to poor academic
performance and frustration as a result of them not knowing how

The 1960s: A Generation of Change
Popular Beliefs
When you think of the 1960s, what comes to mind? Many people think the era of
drug abuse and peace signs. The 60s were the beginning of hallucinogenic and
barbiturates, which were considered psychedelic drugs. Psychedelic drugs cause a
change in cognition and perception, which became popular in hippies, also referred
to as a flower child. They were characterized by free sex, drug abuse, and rock and
roll music. These people were free spirits that lived through peace and love. During
this time, free sex was promoted and monogamy was rare. In addition, the 1960s was
the start for the Beatles. The Beatles were a popular rock and roll band from England
who were very popular in the hippie community. ... Show more content on

During his presidency, he successfully took the United States out of a recession,
established the Peace Corps, avoided a nuclear war during the Cold War and
contributed to the treaty to end the Cold War. He also helped to pass the Equal Pay
Act of 1963, which required employers to pay men and women equally for doing
the same work (nolo.com). This was a big step for equal right for women. JFK was
also assassinated in 1963 in Dallas, TX during a presidential motorcade in Dealey
Plaza. After his assassination Lyndon Baines Johnson became president and was
mostly known for his Great Society social service programs, finishing the civil rights
act of 1964 and expanding U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War
Rear Window, By Alfred Hitchcock And The Last Laugh
The films Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and The Last Laugh, directed
by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, both feature protagonists going through change, for
better or for worse. Rear Window features L.B. Jeff Jefferies, a professional
photographer who is stuck in his wheelchair, in his apartment, because of an accident
he had while on the job. The Last Laughfeatures a hotel doorman that gets demoted to
a lesser job, who then undergoes a psychological change. Both films use elements of
mise en scene to show how the protagonists adapt and change to their confinement
and isolation. The use of the set, framing, and motifs of doors and windows in both
films emphasizes the idea of the protagonists dealing with change, from freedom to
confinement and isolation.
In Rear Window, the set is used show the freedom Jeff had before he was confined to
his apartment. During the opening scene, the camera pans over and zooms out
through the window from the other apartment onto Jeff. The opening scene is
significant because it demonstrates how Jeff confines himself to his apartment;
instead, he could be outside venturing in his wheelchair, despite his disability. Also,
the set only consists of the apartment across from Jeff, and his own apartment, while
there are several of buildings looming in the background. This segment of the setting,
Jeff s apartment and the one across from him, suggests that the set is very enclosed
and restricted of freedom; for no other areas of the
The Nurture In Frankenstein And Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein
Across literature, authors capture the struggle of people finding their true purpose. In
Mary W. Shelley s gothic novel, Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein and his creation,
the Creature, both come from different experiences but ultimately share the same
desire in seeking revenge. This desire from the Creature and Victor stems from the
failures that they find from their purpose and despite the differences they both face,
the two characters parallel one another in this way. The time at which the novel was
written, political change was taking its stand. Ideologies that were created by John
Locke and Thomas Hobbes clashed with one another. John Locke, an influential
English enlightenment philosopher, believed that human beings are not evil by nature.

But he ultimately found beauty in the nature that surrounds him like the moon and
he fixed [his] eyes on [it] with pleasure (Shelley 87). But, his very nature was full
of goodness, even with an inclination toward kindness (Gould). The Creature takes
on the idea of what John Locke proposes about nature and nurture. There are
examples at the beginning of the Creature s life where his nature of goodness is
shown through. Due to his abandonment, the Creature watches attentively to the
cottagers from afar. He tries to learn their language and would listen in to their
conversations. There was a night after he brought the cottagers food and wood that
[he] found on the ground some books (Shelley 109). One of the books that found
and took in possession was Paradise Lost. The creature naturally took to the book
and instantly compared himself to Adam. The Creature is the creation of Victor
like Adam is the creation that God. He ultimately relates himself to Satan because
he was wretched, helpless, and alone (Shelley 111). Over time, the Creature notices
the affection that Felix and Safie have towards each other and he realizes that he
wants someone like that for himself. All he ever wants is to be loved and to have
someone take care of him. He wants to be integrated and accepted into the society by
his creator. This now turns to the way the Creature has grown up and his nurture.

Cause And Effect Of Alcohol Abuse
Effects of Alcohol Abuse 15.1 million adults aged 18 and over suffer from alcohol
abuse in the United States. Alcohol abuse is the harmful use of alcohol, despite its
negative consequences on the individual, such as interfering with daily activities.
Although some studies show that moderate alcohol usage can benefit one s health, it
is commonly agreed that the negatives heavily outweigh the positives. About ten
percent of children in the United States lives with a parent who abuses alcohol and
about 88,000 people die yearly from alcohol poisoning in the United States.
Therefore, alcohol abusemay have impacts on one s family life and their
physiological state. To begin, alcohol abuse may have an effect on one s family
life. Children, growing up around a parent who abuses alcohol may lead a life of
both psychological and emotional problems, and these children may also be
vulnerable to alcohol related physical and/or verbal abuse. Alcoholic parents may
also influence their kids to grow up with the same habits, as children who have at
least one alcoholic parent are about 3 4 times likely to abuse alcohol when they re
older, compared to children that do not. In addition, having alcoholic parents may
influence a student s academics. In one study, 41% of addicted parents reported that
at least one of their children repeated a grade in school, 19% were involved in
truancy, and 30% had been suspended from school (cite). Students who have
alcoholic parents are reported to have
Flag Burning Research Paper
Flag Burning The [American] flag uniquely symbolizes the ideas of liberty, equality
and tolerance ideas that Americans have passionately defended and debated
throughout our history. Thus, the Government...should protect the symbolic values
of the flag wrote Justice John Paul Stevens in the Texas v. Johnson (1989) Supreme
Court Case (History of Flag Burning). Justice Antonin Scalia agreed, If it were up to

Justices may have felt personally, this was not the result of the vote. In 1989, the
Supreme Court defended flag burning as part of the First Amendment freedom of

Biblical Flood Myth of Genesis and the Flood Myth of the...
The Flood of the Bible and the Flood of Gilgamesh The story of Noah s Ark, as told
in the old testament, tells how God punished the world because it had become
corrupt. God accomplished this by flooding the world, and annihilating all the
creatures upon it, except for Noah and his family and a pair of each type of
creature on the earth. Each decade, more insight is gained into the origin of the
flood story. Based on the information available at the present time, one could argue
that the story of Noah s Ark was based on the Epic of Gilgamesh. The story of Noah s
Ark was first written as part of the old testament by the Jewish people. However, it is
predated by far by the story of the Epic of Gilgamesh, a story that... Show more

The dimensions of the ship underwent some drastic changes however, quite
possibly because the dimensions of Gilgamesh s boat were rather unreasonable:
Equal shall be her width and her length... . Both Gilgamesh and Noah received 7
days notice, and after the flood ceased, both employed doves and ravens as scouts
to determine if the land was dry yet (Gilgamesh also employed a swallow, but the
results of its trip did not greatly differ from the first trip of the dove in Noah s tale
). After the flood waters recessed, and the ships were able to empty their contents,
both Noah and Gilgamesh also offered sacrifices to their respective gods, Noah
with burnt offerings and Gilgamesh with a libation he poured on the mountainside
where his ship came to rest. The other really large change was that God showed
some signs of remorse and sorrow in Noah s tale, opposed to Gilgamesh s tale,
where God showed little involvement beyond the initial instructions and the flood
itself. It was Gilgamesh alone who displayed sorrow for the loss of his people. The
shift of sympathy from Gilgamesh to God, however, does good to accommodate
the Christian and Jewish perspective of a loving and forgiving God, who would
only sweep the world of his own creations at a deep sentimental price. This idea is
further confirmed by his promise never to commit such an act again after the flood
ceases: Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every

Single Sex School
Why Single Sex School?
Single sex schools are the best way of education and vital for our children in order
for them to be taught in an environment that is away from distractions and to be
more successful, focused and emotionally stable. There are several reasons which
shows that single sex schools are important and why it s the best way for good
education.
The first reason is that boys and girls are not equal and develop at different times and
speeds; therefore they should be taught separately. Acording to Gilbert (2007),
Aacademic planners and school superintendents in the 1960 s had this foundamental
assumption; they used to think that separate means unequal, so fearing that they
would be unfair, provoking inequality and sexual ... Show more content on

The second reason why single sex schools are the way to go is that boys and girls
distract each other from their education, especially in adolescence as their sexual and
emotional sides develop. They spend too much time trying to impress or sexually
harassing each other especially boys toward girls. Academic competition between the
sexes is unhealthy and only adds to the unhappiness and anxiety among weaker
students. As Trichia Kelleher, a school principle, argues rather than girls defining
themselves by their interests, they define themselves by what the boys think of them
or what other girls think boys think of them . Furthermore, John Silber (2002),
President of Boston University, declared that his university would prioritize male
applications in order to even up the student composition and ensure the male
population did not become ungentlemanly towards women due to their numerical
inferiority. John as a preident of Boston saw how females can be a sexual distraction
towarad males in class rooms and tried to slove that by admitting more males to the
university. A single sex environment is therefore a space where (children) can learn
without feeling pressurized by the other sex.
As odd it may sound, some people argues that children need to be exposed to the
opposite sex in preparation for later life; this fact should be further evaluated and
analysed logically. Nobody in this world comes without parents, and as children we
can get
A Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech By Ken Robinson
In this video Ken Robinson touches on three main points. His first point he was
talking about the education system and one s creativity. He gave two anecdotes
about kids that showed that they are willing to take a chance and be creative. If you
re not prepared to be wrong, you ll never come up with anything original. He believes
that the educationsystem institutionalizes people, and that people lose the creativity
they had. Ken Robinson s goes onto his second point, How every education system
has the same Hierarchy when it comes to subjects. At the top is math and language
arts, followed by the humantanties, and at the bottom is Arts. He explains how there
is a lack of focus on art and creativity. The reason being is because schoolis to meet
the needs of industrialism in the 19th century that needed high math and language
arts skills. Art based classes werent view as important because they couldn t make a

Internal Conflict In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
Arthur Miller s The Death of a Salesman is a play about Willy Loman, who is a
salesman in America that struggles in many ways. Internal conflict arises when
Willy is in search for a job but is being denied a job in New York. Throughout the
entire play Arthur Miller shows that Willy s problems begin to reveal themselves
due to being rejected a job in New York. Willy begins to muse over his so called
perfect life, and envisages all of the problems he has went through during his lifetime.
Arthur Miller then uses conflict, irony, and flashbacks in order to achieve the theme
of portrayal. Arthur Miller commences the play by illustrating the daily dilemmas
and internal conflicts in Willy s life by showing the problems he faces given the fact

In the story Linda, Willy s wife, then mentions that she recently found a rubber
pipe and she is distressed that Willy is considering ending his life by inhaling
gases. The first emerges before the beginning of the play, where Willy Loman s car
accident presages his suicide at the end of Act II. (as cited by Michael Otis, 2008)
the quote agrees that willy foreshadows his suicide many times but is really crucial
very early in this play. As stated in the first paragraph, willy was having problems
driving such as goin off the road! , forgot i was driving and might ve killed
somebody (Miller, 14), these quotes are not just foreshadowing his suicide but they
are giving opportunity for situational irony to occur later as the play continues.
Miller tries to hint that Willy has complications while driving and could have killed
somebody (Miller 14) which foreshadows that WIlly will kills himself. Not only do
the quotes create a foreshadow but they create the situational irony that is seen later
in the play when Willy kills himself in a car accident. Richard Foster then states With
reflections of the past playing continually over the present, Miller s play focuses on
the end of that life when, ironically, the last opportunity for
Nurses Are Constantly Facing Health Risks
Nurses are constantly facing health risks every day they are at work. I feel as a
student with goals set to become a nurse I should be fully aware of all the things
that could potentially go wrong. I want to make sure I am knowledgeable about the
nursing field, because I never would have thought injuries happen as often in the
field of nursing today compared to decades ago when there was less machinery. The
Department of Labor s Bureau of Statistics (BLS) explains that surveys show 35,000
back injuries happen every year among nurses and are severe enough to prevent
going to work (Zwerdling, par. 9). Zwerdling writes about a nursegetting injured on
the job while lifting an overweight patient. She damaged a disk in her spine while

She later found out the popping noise she heard further damaged her spine (par. 2).
Back injuries are the most common injuries among nurses. Nursing employees get
their back injuries from the number one cause of lifting their patients. The article
explains how lifting a patient is harmful no matter what way it is performed. These
injuries prevent young nurses from continuing their career (Zwerdling par, 13).
A nurse is susceptible to musculoskeletal injuries which can affect them physically
and mentally. Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries affecting the body s movement
(Gropelli 297). An example is back injuries, happening in roughly 52% of nurses
(Gropelli 297). Back injuries are one of the most important injuries to be careful of.
Nurses are being restricted by injuries causing them to be pushed out of work. It
affects them mentally, because they can easily become stressed out about not being
able to work which leads to loss of money. Musculoskeletal injuries severely affect
nurses and the hospitals. The hospital is affected, because they are losing their staff
due to all of these injuries that could be prevented (Gropelli 301).
Because of these injuries and risks, younger nurses must leave the field well before
retirement, which will lead to a nursing shortage. The older nurses, which make up
51% of all nurses, are at a higher risk of injury due to lack of updated training and
physical limitations. According to Patricia Finch
Personal Publishing Is Broken, By Michael P. Taylor
Academic publishing is something that many people will experience at some point,
either in school or at their job, and some of whom are being paid to publish in
academic journals. When published in academic journals, to read the papers, those
interested would need to buy an expensive subscription and annually renew it.
However, this is starting to take a toll on many universities and researchers around
the world because they do not have the past research that others performed to base
their future research on. Michael P. Taylor s Opinion: Academic Publishing
is Broken,
addresses the fact that many people do not have access to academic literature, due to
the high cost of purchasing subscriptions for the academic journals, and that is...

Taylor is a research associate in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of
Bristol. To make an impact in the scientific community, a scientist must publish their
research in academic journals, specifically journals for certain areas of science.
Taylor has published many papers about the structure of dinosaurs bodies and the
evolution of dinosaurs in both open access journals and academic journals ( Michael
P Taylor ). This shows that Taylor himself had to experience the process of
publishing papers, both in academic journals and open access journals, and going
through other academic journals to create ideas for new scientific discoveries.
Therefore, he understands both the research side and the side of the ordinary citizens
who want to read scientific papers. This impacts the audience by making them
understand that Taylor is a credible person to be writing an article on this topic,
strengthening his argument.
Additionally, Taylor shows that he is a credible source for the discussion of open
access publishing through being knowledgeable about the topic by using statistics
and doing his own research to strengthen his argument. Taylor begins his article by
explaining that the money that comes from the taxations of the taxpayers goes to the
government to be reallocated into the government funded research. Then, the
researchers release their information by publishing it in academic journals, using the
government s money. Next, by defining open

Effects Of Untimely Death
When men went to war, there was every chance of them dying. But, their friends and
family could never had prepared themselves for news of that person s death. Untimely
death is a theme which is explored throughout the anthology in many ways, in
particular, looking at the effects of the news of death upon loved ones.
The Seed Merchant s Son is a poem by Agnes Grozier Herbertson that conveys the
bereavement that a man feels for his son who has died at war. This poem continuously
emphasises the youth of the boy, which constantly reiterates the idea of untimely
death, as the boy died before he could live a full life. The fact that the ... Show more

The author uses elipses toward the end of the poem to generate a dramatic silence
which could be seen as the silence after the death of the young soldier had been told
to his father and the shock and desperation that the man felt during that time. The
man would have thought about his son who had never before seen seed or sod .
This line uses sibilance which has a threatening sound to it which could be
interpreted as the fear that the young soldiers would all have to go through knowing
that they might never again feel a sence of solace.
By the end of this poem, the man has come to terms with the boy s death as
although the man is sadened, he is very proud of his son for fighting for his country.
The man murmurs thank G d, thank G d , showing that he is proud of his son for the
sacrifice he made.
Another poem in the anthology that portrays the pathos involved and explores the
repracussions of untimely death is The Deserter by
Winifred M. Letts, which tells of the soldiers being forced to go to war and being
dogged by fear . The author writes how one man who
could not face the German guns was shot by an English bullet in his heart for
desertion. He was shot in a place apart , showing that he was absolutely alone and
could be interpreted that
The Orphan Train Movement Essay
Starting in the 1850s, there were great increases in urbanization. Movements such as
The Great Migration lead to huge populations in newly industrialized cities. In
addition, there was a great increase in immigration, especially from families of
eastern and southern European descent. The Orphan Train Movement s purpose was
to give the thousands of children in New York Citythat were left without homes due
to increased urbanization and industrialization a new family out west with good
living conditions and values and to increase the number of farm workers. The
children mostly were placed with good families, but some children were treated as
slaved by their families. Additionally, most of the children were excited to work;

With the five dollars that Archbishop Closkey gave to start the program, Sister Mary
Irene formed the New York Foundling Hospital. The Adoption Agency of the New
York Foundling Hospital was dedicated to finding suitable homes for the orphan
children left on their doorstep. After hearing of Brace s orphan trains, Sister Mary
Irene started her own mercy trains in which children would travel west to live with a
good family and to get a Catholic upbringing. This was the start of the Orphan Train
Movement. Contrary to its name, the Orphan Train riders included not only orphans,
but also children with only one parent, children that were given up because their
family was too big, and runaways. These children often underwent parental death,
abandonment, or prostitution. Still other orphans were immigrant children. They
suffered from the overpopulation of New York and lack of job availability. Even
the jobs they could get did not pay enough for them to survive. Many of the orphans
turned to selling small items such as newspapers or matches to survive on the streets.
These children often formed gangs to protect themselves from the sometimes violent
world of street life in New York City. Police, after finding some of these gangs,

Tips For Writing Descriptive Essays.pdf

  • 1. Tips For Writing Descriptive Essays Writing an essay on the subject of "Tips For Writing Descriptive Essays" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in presenting general advice but in crafting a piece that embodies the very principles it seeks to convey. Descriptive essays demand a keen attention to detail, a mastery of language, and the ability to evoke sensory experiences through words. Communicating the nuances of observation and creating a vivid mental picture for the reader requires a careful selection of descriptive elements, ensuring they work harmoniously to paint a rich tapestry of imagery. One of the challenges is striking the right balance between detail and conciseness. Too much detail can overwhelm the reader, while too little may leave the essay lacking the immersive quality characteristic of a successful descriptive piece. Choosing the right words to convey the intended atmosphere and utilizing literary devices such as similes and metaphors can add depth and complexity to the writing, but it's a fine line to tread. Furthermore, the task involves not only describing static scenes but also capturing dynamic moments and conveying a sense of movement and progression. This requires a nuanced understanding of pacing and structure to ensure the essay flows smoothly and maintains the reader's engagement. In addition to the technical aspects, the writer must connect with the audience emotionally. Descriptive essays often aim to evoke feelings and resonate with the reader on a personal level. Achieving this emotional connection necessitates a thoughtful consideration of the target audience and an awareness of the emotions the chosen descriptive elements are likely to evoke. Despite the challenges, crafting an essay on this topic provides an opportunity for personal expression and creativity. The writer must find their unique voice and style while adhering to the principles of effective descriptive writing. It's a journey that requires practice, revision, and a genuine passion for bringing the written word to life. In conclusion, tackling the intricacies of writing a descriptive essay on the suggested topic demands a combination of technical skill, creativity, and a deep understanding of the emotional impact of words. It's a task that can be both daunting and fulfilling, offering the writer a chance to refine their descriptive prowess. For those seeking assistance with essays or exploring similar topics, a range of resources is available, including professional writing services like HelpWriting.net, where skilled writers can provide support on various writing assignments. • 2. The Cardiovascular System Of Heart Rate The cardiovascular system is the body s way of circulating blood and the essential biomolecules that make living possible. Blood is pumped throughout the body by the heart, the heart receives oxygenated blood from the lungs via the pulmonary vein and distributes it using the various arteries and capillaries (Farley et al.). A main constituent for the cardiovascular system and a heavily relied upon factor for measuring the hearts work is heart rate. Heart rate is a numerical value that quantifies the number of times the heart contracts which means opening and closing the valves that are responsible for the bloodmovement (Mariaconsuelo et al.). Contractions in terms of heart rate are referred to as beats thus the numerical value is beats per minute (BPM). Heart rate can be affected by numerous factors such as physical stress, chemicals introduced into the bloodstream through the environment, as well as naturally produced chemical compounds produced by the body in response to a need. To determine what exactly happens inside the body when these numerous factors come into play we set up various experiments that will give us a measurable outcome. The first experimental variable we tested in lab was physical stress and how it changes the heart rate in humans. The way heart rate is measured is via an instrument called an electrocardiogram (EKG) which is a machine that measures the electrical differences that correspond to heart beats. An EKG displays its results with
  • 3. Judaism, Christianity And Islam When death occurs in our family or in close friendships, the psychological consequences of the loss can be devastating. Feelings of emptiness, hopelessness or helplessness can have a major impact on our mental and physical health. Fortunately, throughout history, different cultures and religions have created ways for the mourners to cope with the tragedy of losing a loved one. In this paper, I will be comparing the advantages offered by religious traditions for the mourners, focusing on Judaism, Christianityand Islam. In addition, I will be contrasting them with the benefits offered by our modern secular funeral services. To start, Judaism s priorities are on community and on law. Therefore, Jewish traditions regarding procedures after the deathof an individual are very strict and extensive. First, the mourners are identified: children, parents, spouses and siblings. These family members are prohibited from participating in any funeral preparations and from continuing doing daily activities such as working, cooking or bathing. In fact, the only thing that the mourners are expected to do is to think about the deceased and to process their death, because they are thought to be too broken to function. This temporary stop of daily functioning and responsibilities can be very healing, as it gives them time to solely dedicate themselves to grieving. Furthermore, although mourners aren t allowed to do anything, during the Shiva, their basic needs are covered by the community,
  • 4. Representation Of Cain In The Bible In the Biblical story of Cain and Abel from the book Genesis, there is no doubt that Cain was the central character. It was Cain, who got so angry, when God preferred Abel s gift over Cain s, it was also him, who had a conversation with God about the role of sin in man s life and at the end, it was him who killed his own brother, but on the other hand lived a long life full of children. This story is mainly about Cain, so is Steinbeck s East of Eden. In the first generation of the Trask family, Charles is considered as Cain representative. Charles is stronger, faster and more intelligent than his brother Adam. When growing up, he won all the contests he had with his Adam, so when he got bored with him, he found competition amongst others. At one time, when Adam and Charles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Neither Charles nor Caleb is described as pure evil, since many times throughout the novel they show genuine signs of goodness. In the first generation of the Trasks, it is Charles, although younger, who protects his older brother against bullies and their own father (East of Eden 26). After Cyrus dies, when Adam comes back home and they first talk about their father, Adam says that he didn t love their father and that he hated him. Charles starts crying and he explains to Adam that Cyrus loved Adam more than anything in the world; also he mentions the gift they gave their father and how he loved the puppy Adam gave him and at the end, it was Charles who says that he loved him, even after the rejection (East of Eden 85). Caleb, although he considers himself responsible for the death of his brother Aron, loves both Aron and Adam; he even offers to work at the ranch to put Aron through college (East of Eden
  • 5. Bertrand Russell The Value Of Philosophy Summary In The Value of Philosophy , Bertrand Russell an important social critic and one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th century refutes the idea of philosophy being pointless and a waste of time (The Value of Philosophy). Although philosophers have not agreed on one exact definition for this branch of knowledge, philosophyis generally understood as an academic discipline which aims to cover a variety of topics through arguing, inquiring, assuming, and testing arguments for weakness in order to gain knowledge and grasp a better sense of life (Lectures 1 2, Package). Russell makes strong arguments for philosophy being beneficial, especially when one is open to seeking a deeper understanding of life and why the universe operates the way that it does. Despite philosophy s inability to definitively answer the questions that it seeks to understand, in Russell s opinion, it holds a great amount of valueone of those values being uncertainty. Russell initiates his argument of the distinct values of philosophy by discussing the practical man . According to Russell, the practical man is mainly aware of physical necessities such as shelter and food but is ignorant of the mindneeding nourishment (Russell 11). In other words, constantly feeding the brain, therefore gaining intellect is just as important as obtaining physical goods . Russell then proceeds onto explaining how philosophy has not been able to answer the questions that people in this discipline have brought
  • 6. How Religion During Rome Influenced The Development Of... Marie Hull Mr. Santini Global H 16 March 2015 How Religion in Rome Influenced the Development of Culture When most students and even some scholars study history, they view the past as just a series of facts and occurrences. And unfortunately, this is more or less the only way we are able to view history, simply because it has all happened many many years ago. But if we were able to look at history the way we look at our lives today, as not just a series of facts, but as a real era with real, living people, then we can gain an enormous amount of insight into what a certain period in history was truly like. We can begin to view history this way by studying how one event influences another. One incredibly rich and marvelous culture to which you can apply this method of studying history is Rome, and how it s religion affected the development of culture. Rome was a nation to which religion was immensely important, and it had a very prominent place in society: so much so that it changed the face of the Roman Empire forever. Religion and spirituality in Rome influenced all areas of daily life for Romans, including social, political, economic, and governmental aspects. One of the most visible ways Rome was affected by religion was in and through society. In Rome, there were many separations between the rich and the poor in society, but religious rituals were one, if not the only thing that tied them together. No matter your social status or

We will mention some major market factors that make technology companies invest in branding more than anytime before. We will also discuss how branding is essential for technology companies to differentiate their products from other companies that produce similar ones and also the role of branding in protecting the brands from piracy and steeling through out official and registered trademarks. As a result, Intel now has become the market leader in its field and built up a wide base of end users who will not buy a computer if it does not include Intel processer inside. Because of the strong branding strategy, Intel has become the most trusted IT brand in the glob. There is no doubt that strong brands attract more customers and by time these customers become more and more loyal to these brands. This loyalty to brands increases the customers willingness to pay a higher price 20% 25% more than competing brands 3. Positioning The competition in the technology market and the race of winning big market shares, made the technology companies to open new markets for new products, for instance the entertainment industry. As an example, Sony has early realized the importance of being different in this crowded market, so it was the one which introduced the industry of entertainment and then it has become the leader in this market. Sony made a lot of innovation to position itself as an entertainment leader, In 1988, Sony bought CBS records and the following year it acquired Columbia Pictures Entertainment. • 8. Christianity in Shakespear s Hamlet Faith plays a large role in how one lives their life. Christianity plays a strong role throughout Hamlet by William Shakespeare. When reading the play one must think of the controversies of the time when Shakespeare writes the play. Reformation and Renaissance opinions are reflected throughout. Shakespeare deals with very controversial attitudes and religious questions dealing with death, the existence of purgatory, morality, murder, suicide and marriage in his play Hamlet. It is obvious throughout the play that Hamlet s life is guided by his faith and his religious beliefs. At first, Hamlet sees the ghost of his dead father and vows to avenge his death. That is the question whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And, by opposing, end them? To die, to sleep No more and by a sleep to say we end the heartache and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to tis a consummation Devoutly to be wished! (Shakespeare 53). At this point Hamlet is questioning whether he should live or die and whether it would be better to live his life in agony or end it and in turn end the pain. He is troubled that if he were to take his own life he would end up not in purgatory but in hell because taking one s life was considered to be an unforgiveable sin. It is unfortunate that Hamlet is in a place in his life where he thinks killing himself would perhaps be more of an option than living under the circumstances, which surround him. Hamlet decides that he does not want to risk eternal peace in heaven for peace he may find while on earth in a difficult situation. Hamlet also uses his Christian ideals when struggling with the idea of killing his step father. He has several opportunities to do so the primary one is when he walks in on Claudius praying. Hamlet can t commit murder when the person is praying because then that would send the person straight to heaven. Hamlet does not want Claudius to end up living in heaven but rather he wants to make sure that Claudius is sent to Hell. Hamlet
  • 9. Concept Analysis Of Anesthesia Awareness The thought of being awake or aware while having a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia is frightening to say the least. Studies show that this actually happens in one in every 19,000 operations (Oginski, n.d.). This paper is a concept analysis of anesthesia awareness. Within this analysis the definition of anesthesia awareness will be addressed, as well as, the historical perspectives of this concept. A modified version of Wilson s classic concept analysis procedure will be used to explain the aim and purpose of the analysis, identify current uses of the concept, and determine the defining attributes. A model case will be discussed that will support the aim of the analysis. Borderline, related and contrary cases will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Muscle paralyzing drugs are given to cause paralysis in the muscles of the body. This is done to prevent muscle spasms around the area being operated on, and to prevent the patient from inadvertently moving during the procedure which could make some surgeries virtually impossible to perform. The muscles of the heart are not affected by muscle paralyzing medications, otherwise patients would not be able to stay alive while under general anesthesia. These muscle paralyzing medications also do not cause paralysis in the patient s bladder or bowel muscles, this explains why patients under general anesthesia do not experience incontinence of urine or feces. Furthermore, muscle paralyzing medications only paralyze the muscles of the body, they do not have an effect on the patient s brain function, this helps to explain how a person can be aware while at the same time be paralyzed. While the patient is paralyzed, they cannot move or speak, and they cannot breathe. To aide breathing during general anesthesia, patients are placed on an anesthesia ventilator, also known as a respirator which takes over the patient s breathing while paralyzed by these medications ( Anesthesia Aware ,
  • 10. How Learning Areas Such As The Arts And Literacies Are... 1.Discuss how learning areas such as the arts and literacies are woven into an integrated curriculum, with reference to the Aotearoa New Zealand context and Te Whariki (Ministry of education, 1996). Arts and literacies are woven into an integrated curriculum giving children the ability to problem solve, communicate without language and express themselves in a verbal and non verbal way. A child s learning development is influenced by their communication with other children and adults, the environment, philosophy and the facilities in the centre (Educational Review Office. 2011). Te Whariki perspective is that a child participates in the arts: for personal, social and cultural purposes, allowing that child to becoming confident and competent. A child will contribute their individual abilities and perspectives with others making sense of their worlds (Ministry of Education. 2009). Te Whariki is an integrated curriculum this is evident by the woven mat (Ministry of Education 1996. P13) this shows how the arts and literacies can be integrated, throughout the New Zealand curriculum Te Whariki in a New Zealand context. To form the mat there are four lots of principles which include; Holistic Development, Empowerment, Family and community and relationships. There are also five lots of strands including contribution, communication, exploration, well being and belonging. The principles and strands which are interwoven all support and promote the child s holistic development.
  • 11. Caacio E Pepe The structure of this recipe is simple, only listing the ingredients and writing the instructions in paragraph format. Each of the ingredients gives a specific measurement, indicating that this variation of the recipe was written after the invention of standardized measurements. Overall, the structure itself is not interesting or different from most of the other recipes we have studied this term. Techniques for this recipe are relatively simple, only requiring the cook to mix in ingredients and boil water. These are skills that most people can complete (although my father probably could not), making it a simple recipe to make. Also, the cook must remember to add some of the pasta water into the cheesemix, so the pasta will not dry out, and to melt the cheese. According to Professor Borghini, Cacio e Pepe was originally considered a poor persons food, so it makes sense that the recipe is not over complicated; if a person is struggling to put food on the table, they are not looking for ways to develop a... For example, it calls for both butter and olive oil, both of which are considered rich foods. According to Diner, olive oil was expensive, so the poor could not eat it, but consumed it often in America. Also, Professor Borghini mentioned that these cheeses would have been too expensive for the poor to purchase, so it would have been only one cheese, and most likely not a lot of it. The pepper would have been used to make it taste spicy while they did not have money for other ingredients. Through analysis, it becomes clear that this take on the recipe is modern, from a group of people who have the means to make this recipe fancier than their
  • 12. Autonomy in Hamlet and Oedipus For their injustices, Oedipus must be exiled from Thebes: Socrates must drink hemlock and die. Discuss the extent to which Oedipus and Socrates final moments are determined by past acts of autonomy. Socrates is a character who is seen as person who dies for his ideals. He sees himself as a public servant who has lived his life helping the people of the city with his practice of philosophy and by living his life within the boundaries of the laws and justices of society. Socrates sees this as a commitment by an invisible contract and he must commit himself to obey them even though these laws have wronged him. He is urged by his friend Crito to escape but Socrates feels that this would be wrong as it is going against state, country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clearly the curse was Oedipus own idea. The autonomy of his own actions are seen when we witness a sequence of characters pleading for him to stop the investigation and become accepting of ignorance: once at the beginning with Teiresias, (Sophocles, 1970, p. 9), twice in the middle by Jocasta, (Sophocles, 1970, pp. 17 amp;22), and the end by the shepherd, (Sophocles, 1970, p. 26) and still he does not adhere to their advice, but carries on with his questioning and investigation. Oedipus s fate is not forced upon his actions, but show that his actions are of a free king and man. Fate and free will is a powerful question in both works. For Socrates it shows that free will has limitations and that there are other elements at play which tend to hamper full realization of individual autonomy. For Oedipus, this seems to be clearly defined in that he seeks to outrun his own destiny. He believes that his use of freedom and clarity in judgment can overcome what is fated to be. In this light one can see Oedipus as seeking to appropriate a domain that is not in his control. Eventually he ends up paying dearly for it. For Socrates, autonomy is a bit more muddled. It does not necessarily invoke the fate condition to limit human freedom, but rather argues that there are other factors perhaps within us that seem to curtail our own use of freedom. The limiting function is not outside the individual, but rather within them. References Macquarie Dictionary (2nd ed.). (1999).

The result of the KOH Test, also Table 1, as gram positive, because the bacterium we tested did not form a string. Because of the mixture of identities the Catalase test and Oxidase test were used (Figure 2). These both resulted in a very strong gram positive reaction. During the Catalase test, after placing a drop of H2O2 on our slide, an immediate strong reaction of bubbles formed. This confirms our specimen as catalase positive bacteria. The Oxidase test showed strong reaction in the gram positive designated areas confirming, with the Catalase test, that the bacteria most likely is gram positive. This concludes the observational based testing

Cutaneous Larva Diagnosis Diagnosis and management of cutaneous larva migrans By Dr. Liji Thomas, MD Cutaneous larva migrans is caused by the epidermal migration of the filariform larvae of various hookworm and occasionally, dog tapeworm, species. The most common type is due to the dog/cat hookworm Ancylostoma braziliense. It manifests as a red or vesicular lesion at the site of entry of the larva, usually between the toes of the bare foot. The skin around this papule is usually pruritic. Symptoms of severe itching start immediately after infestation, and are associated with the appearance of an advancing reddish, serpiginous rash. Treatment of cutaneous larva migrans may be done with 10 15% thiabendazole ointment or solution topically three times a day for 15 days. To assess this, we have read two different texts. Both answer key questions regarding what it takes to become a great reader and writer, however, from the reading that I have done, each one only answers one part of the question. Rodriguez s main focus is in the aspect of reading, whereas McCarthy mainly focuses on the writing portion. Both do a decent job of analyzing and putting forth a view of how they believe a person can best perform in these environments. This then allows us to use their concepts and create our own version, based on their points of view. But why should we care? Most people at this level of academia will have developed a system of writing that works for them, and will have a difficult time breaking from it if they re process doesn t meet the criteria that Rodriguez, and McCarthy put forth. The reason it s so important is because of implications these ideas have. Both authors put forth concepts that are indirectly related to one another and that are highly beneficial to all who will apply them. They will force you to conform to new environments in order to succeed, this in turn will make you more

The corpses of people and animals lay intermingled through out the island; some were struck down in the street by debris, while others were crushed beneath their shelter or drowned. • 34. Strategic Analysis Of Under Armour Case As consultants, we decided to do a strategic analysis on Under Armour Inc., an American manufacturer of footwear, sports and casual apparel. We selected Under Armour because of their renowned reputation in the U.S. and because of their recent fluctuating financials. The most noticeable fluctuation was the $100 million dropin profits, which was initially attributed to a lack of seasonal sales in the beginning of 2017. However, we discovered that a lack of seasonal sales was not the sole factor that contributed to the recent poor sales but that it was the recent strategic shifts by the company. These strategic moves were categorized into four groups: Branding, Investment, Identifying Trends and Distribution. We, therefore, recommend that the company investment into the new growing trend of of fashionable athletic wear apparel, focusing primarily on their female customer base. This new female apparel line will hopefully boost future earnings by serving one of the fastest growing markets in the United States. In addition, it will hopefully attract more female customers, who still perceive the brand as being male centric . Through thorough analysis, we believe that this the best course of action for the company because of several factors that contribute, but are not limited to this new trend such as the increase in health conscious, an increase in athletic wear apparel and the growing number of active gym members across the country. 1. • 35. Two Features of the Photo-Electric Effect Essay The photo electric effect, which was first documented by Einstein in 1905, and posited that the energy of liberated electrons is linearly dependent on the frequency of incident photons. This paper investigates this relationship and measures Planck s constant ($4.36pm 0.04e{ 21}$MeVs), and the work function of the photo diode ($ 1.52pm0.02$V). Another phenomena which is checked is the charging time of the stopping potential voltage. While there was some dependence between stopping voltage and intensity, this effect is mostly systematic. Both of these experiments provide evidence that the energy imparted by incident photons is dependent on the frequency, and the number of photo electrons is dependent on the number of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This gives the following relationship: begin{equation} label{eq:linearPE} V = frac{h}{e}nu frac{W_o}{e} end{equation} This allows the measurement of the stopping voltage as a function of frequency. Fixing the elementary charge ($e$) as a known, this allows for an experimental determination of Planck s constant ($h$) and the work function of the material ($W_o$). This paper examines two scenarios. The first is a fit to the data using (ref{eq:linearPE}) to measure $h$ and $W_o$. The second scenario investigates the time dependence of the charge development as a function of intensity. subsection{Theory} The photo electric effect is explained in the following situation. Photons with an energy $hnu$ are incident on a material which can be characterized by a work function $W_o$. This work function represents the amount of energy required to liberate an electron from the atom. The effect postulates a number of experimental results which are easily tested. One is that the work function $W_o$ is independent of the intensity of the incident photons. Here we define intensity as a number density rather than something which scales with the amplitude of the incident electromagnetic waves. This means that the energy of the ejected photons will be independent of the number of incident photons because each electron ejected will be related to the incident photon energy. Conversely, this predicts that the number of liberated

The story portrays his inability to adjust to his society and his home. He is with his family, but he feels that he doesn t belong there. Like various authors, Hemingway decides somehow to write a story about his life after the war through the character Harold Krebs. As much as Harold Krebs believes in truth, the society and the people around him force him to lie. People in the town don t want to hear about the battles, preferring instead lies about the heroics of the war. In many ways, Anime is also a state of mind; a state of understanding that many Americans have trouble getting to (Barlow 1). Many Americans do not accept animation as a medium for storytelling and believe it is meant for children. This is why Anime has not hit as powerfully in the states as it has in Japan and other countries. This is why there is hardly any market base for it. One reason why there is no market for it in the U.S. is that Anime is highly stereotypical. The stereotype image of Japanese Anime and manga (Japanese comic books) has gotten worse lately (Izawa 1). God accomplished this by flooding the world, and annihilating all the creatures upon it, except for Noah and his family and a pair of each type of creature on the earth. Each decade, more insight is gained into the origin of the flood story. Based on the information available at the present time, one could argue that the story of Noah s Ark was based on the Epic of Gilgamesh. Both Gilgamesh and Noah received 7 days notice, and after the flood ceased, both employed doves and ravens as scouts to determine if the land was dry yet (Gilgamesh also employed a swallow, but the results of its trip did not greatly differ from the first trip of the dove in Noah s tale ). After the flood waters recessed, and the ships were able to empty their contents, both Noah and Gilgamesh also offered sacrifices to their respective gods, Noah with burnt offerings and Gilgamesh with a libation he poured on the mountainside where his ship came to rest. The other really large change was that God showed some signs of remorse and sorrow in Noah s tale, opposed to Gilgamesh s tale, where God showed little involvement beyond the initial instructions and the flood itself. It was Gilgamesh alone who displayed sorrow for the loss of his people. The shift of sympathy from Gilgamesh to God, however, does good to accommodate the Christian and Jewish perspective of a loving and forgiving God, who would only sweep the world of his own creations at a deep sentimental price. This idea is further confirmed by his promise never to commit such an act again after the flood ceases: Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every

The first reason is that boys and girls are not equal and develop at different times and speeds; therefore they should be taught separately. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second reason why single sex schools are the way to go is that boys and girls distract each other from their education, especially in adolescence as their sexual and emotional sides develop. They spend too much time trying to impress or sexually harassing each other especially boys toward girls. Academic competition between the sexes is unhealthy and only adds to the unhappiness and anxiety among weaker students. As Trichia Kelleher, a school principle, argues rather than girls defining themselves by their interests, they define themselves by what the boys think of them or what other girls think boys think of them . Furthermore, John Silber (2002), President of Boston University, declared that his university would prioritize male applications in order to even up the student composition and ensure the male population did not become ungentlemanly towards women due to their numerical inferiority. John as a preident of Boston saw how females can be a sexual distraction towarad males in class rooms and tried to slove that by admitting more males to the university. A single sex environment is therefore a space where (children) can learn without feeling pressurized by the other sex. As odd it may sound, some people argues that children need to be exposed to the opposite sex in preparation for later life; this fact should be further evaluated and analysed logically.
