What is skill?
“Skill is the ability to translate knowledge into action to get the
    desired performance.”

Human skill:
 Human skills are different people to people. every person has a
different skill. work skill, talk skill, skill to impress others.

 The following can be defined as different human factors which
are referred as different human skill:

1. Communication
Communication involves transmission and reception of messages. As
communicators, people use symbol to create messages.

2.Leadership:
Leadership is an interaction between persons in which one results
information of a sort and in such a manner that other becomes
convinced that his outcomes will improved if he behaves in the
  manner desired.
                            vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 5
Personality
“ personality will mean how people affect others and how they
understand and view themselves, as well as their pattern of inner and
outer measurable traits and the person-situation interaction. How
people affect others depends primarily on their external appearance
(height, weight, facial features, color, and other physical aspects)
and traits. In terms of external appearance, a very tall worker will
have an impact on other people different from that of a very short
worker. There is also evidence from meta-analysis that there are
gender differences in certain personality characteristics.”
                            vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 6

“Human nature is the basis of character, the temperament
and disposition; it is that indestructible matrix upon
which the character is built, and whose shape it must
take and keep throughout life. This we call a person's
  nature.”

  The neurobiological substrates of human
nature (basic needs, ego, and fear) imply several
  things.
                       vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 9

The basic nature of human beings does not and cannot
change. It is only the surface that is capable of alteration,
improvement and refinement; we can alter only people's
customs, manners, dress and habits. A study of history
reveals that the people who walked this earth in antiquity
were moved by the same fundamental forces, were swayed
by the same passions, and had the same aspirations as the
men and women of today. The pursuit of happiness still
  engrosses mankind the world over.
                      vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 10

Let’s take an example of a class of students in the 4th grade. They
are a noisy, loud bunch, with a teacher who tries hard to
discipline them. If the teacher's voice is very rigid she has a
fair chance of keeping the class quiet. As a result the class is
quiet only in her presence, but the moment she leaves the class
they are back to their mischievous ways. This is because these
children are basically rajasikand tamasik( the mind is more
reactive and is less analytical.) in nature

The role of heredity and the brains

Of more importance from the physiological/biological to the study of
personality than the external appearance is the role of heredity and the
brain. Although heredity’s role in personality was traditionally
downplayed, studies of twins in the last decade or so have led to some
new interest. Identical twins share the same genetic endowment, but if
they are raised apart (say through separate adoptions), then the
similarities and differences can provide insight into the relative
contribution of heredity vs. environment or nature vs. nurture.

                            vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 19

Although twin studies in general are open to criticism of political
influence and lack of scientific controls, most behavioral scientists
now agree that genes play a role not only in physical characteristics
and the brain, but also in personality.

                          vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 20

For example:
A recent report by the American Psychological Association concludes,
“studies over the past 20 years on twins and adopted children have
firmly established that there is a genetic component to just about every
human trait and behavior, including personality, general intelligence
  and behavior disorders.”
The development of personality has traditionally been an important area
of understanding human behavior. Modern developmental psychology
does not get into the argument of heredity versus environment or of
maturation (changes that result from heredity and physical
development) versus learning. The human being consists of both
physiological and psychological interacting parts. Therefore,
heredity, environment, maturation, and learning all contribute to
  the human personality.
                            vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 21
Heredity what make us?

 Nature v/s nurture

  *Heredity and biology

  *Environment life experience

e.g., Identical twins share the same template but have different “states”

 Environment and life experience

  *Plaster v/s plasticity

  *Set like plaster

  *Changes throughout adulthood

 Views on theory

  (a) Trait theories: Personality is set of mental systems, different
  for each individual

  (b) Humanist theories: Difficult to predict-lives are not
scripted-personalities are defined by their own different
  perceptions and experiences.

  (c) Behavioral theories: Personality is the constantly changing
set of learned behavior, influenced by reinforcements

Basic dimensions of individual
            interaction in society
What is society?

“A number of persons associated for any temporary
or permanent object; an association for mutual or
joint usefulness, pleasure, or profit; a social union; a
  partnership; as, a missionary society.”

                      vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 26
Basic dimension

There are two type of dimensions:
   1) Primary dimension 2) Secondary dimension

      Primary Dimension Secondary Dimension
 •Age •Communication Style
 •Gender •Work Style
                                           •Organizational Role
 •Nationality •Work Experience
 •Physical & mental ability •Education
                                           •Family
                                           •Status
 (Primary Dimensions are •Attitudes
                                           (Secondary Dimensions
more visible to others) undergo changes due to
                                           the influences of
                                            perception and learning)

                          vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 27
Major Areas of Individual Differences

  Difference in Physique
  Difference in Intelligence
  Difference in Ability
  Difference in Aptitude
  Difference in Interests
  Difference in Achievements
  Difference in Personality

                    vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 28
 Difference in Physique:

Health, height, weight, complexion. There are differences in the
physical characteristics among people belonging to different races
and different regions. Indians differ from Chinese, Africans and
Europeans in their physical characteristics. Even identical twins
differ from each other with regard to their fingerprints.

 Difference in Intelligence:

Intelligence is the ability to learn and utilize what has been
learned. Intelligence is commonly seen in the performance of
  individuals.

                            vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 29
Difference in Ability:
Ability is defined as what a person can do now and what he can learn to
do in the future. A person may be good at sports but average in studies.

Difference in Aptitude :
(What a person can do?) It is the ability of a person to learn a particular
kind of skill. He can learn a language, learn music etc

Difference in Interest:
Interest refers to a person’s liking for something. Different people have
different interests.

                             vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 30
Difference in Achievement:
(What a person has done) achievement is the outcome of an individual’s
intelligence, aptitude, interest and the availability of opportunities.
Achievement should be seen in terms of how well a person does in
comparison to others but as to how well a person does with regard to
what he is capable of.

Difference in Personality: Personality is the sum total of person’s way
of thinking, feeling and behaving

Conclusion

Nature is different from person to person. Nature is affected by
many factors like attitude, personality, values etc.
Influences of the physical environment and of society on the individual
but also the actions of the individual and his reactions to these
influences. A study on the basic nature of human biological aging
processes based upon a hierarchical factor solution of the age-related
physiological variables.

Basic of human nature

  • 1. Basic Of Human Nature By Manisha Vaghela vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 1
  • 2. Flow of Presentation Foundation of Human Skill Basic of Human Nature Influence of Heredity & Environment Basic dimensions of individual interaction in society vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 2
  • 4. What is skill? “Skill is the ability to translate knowledge into action to get the desired performance.” Human skill:  Human skills are different people to people. every person has a different skill. work skill, talk skill, skill to impress others.  The following can be defined as different human factors which are referred as different human skill: vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 4
  • 5. Continue…. 1. Communication Communication involves transmission and reception of messages. As communicators, people use symbol to create messages. 2.Leadership: Leadership is an interaction between persons in which one results information of a sort and in such a manner that other becomes convinced that his outcomes will improved if he behaves in the manner desired. vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 5
  • 6. Personality “ personality will mean how people affect others and how they understand and view themselves, as well as their pattern of inner and outer measurable traits and the person-situation interaction. How people affect others depends primarily on their external appearance (height, weight, facial features, color, and other physical aspects) and traits. In terms of external appearance, a very tall worker will have an impact on other people different from that of a very short worker. There is also evidence from meta-analysis that there are gender differences in certain personality characteristics.” vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 6
  • 7. Example of our India's best personality Dhirubhai Ambani Rajiv Gandhi Mahatma Gandhi Indira Gandhi vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 7
  • 9. “Human nature is the basis of character, the temperament and disposition; it is that indestructible matrix upon which the character is built, and whose shape it must take and keep throughout life. This we call a person's nature.” The neurobiological substrates of human nature (basic needs, ego, and fear) imply several things. vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 9
  • 10. Continue.. The basic nature of human beings does not and cannot change. It is only the surface that is capable of alteration, improvement and refinement; we can alter only people's customs, manners, dress and habits. A study of history reveals that the people who walked this earth in antiquity were moved by the same fundamental forces, were swayed by the same passions, and had the same aspirations as the men and women of today. The pursuit of happiness still engrosses mankind the world over. vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 10
  • 11. Continue…. Let’s take an example of a class of students in the 4th grade. They are a noisy, loud bunch, with a teacher who tries hard to discipline them. If the teacher's voice is very rigid she has a fair chance of keeping the class quiet. As a result the class is quiet only in her presence, but the moment she leaves the class they are back to their mischievous ways. This is because these children are basically rajasikand tamasik( the mind is more reactive and is less analytical.) in nature vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 11
  • 12. Factors Affecting Human Nature vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 12
  • 13. 1.Personal factor a) Age b) Gender c) Education d) Abilities e) Marital status f) No. of dependents g) Creativity vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 13

  • 15. Continue….. 4) Environmental factor a) Economic b) Technological 5) Culture/society a) Personality vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 15
  • 16. Human skill v/s Human Nature Ability to work with, Personality Attitudes understand, motivate Motives other people both Values Ability individually and in Intelligence and groups. Perception vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 16
  • 17. Example of Human Skill v/s Human Nature 1. Sachin Tendulkar in cricket 2. Amitabh Bachan in bollywood vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 17
  • 19. The role of heredity and the brains Of more importance from the physiological/biological to the study of personality than the external appearance is the role of heredity and the brain. Although heredity’s role in personality was traditionally downplayed, studies of twins in the last decade or so have led to some new interest. Identical twins share the same genetic endowment, but if they are raised apart (say through separate adoptions), then the similarities and differences can provide insight into the relative contribution of heredity vs. environment or nature vs. nurture. vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 19
  • 20. Continue… Although twin studies in general are open to criticism of political influence and lack of scientific controls, most behavioral scientists now agree that genes play a role not only in physical characteristics and the brain, but also in personality. vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 20
  • 21. Continue… For example: A recent report by the American Psychological Association concludes, “studies over the past 20 years on twins and adopted children have firmly established that there is a genetic component to just about every human trait and behavior, including personality, general intelligence and behavior disorders.” The development of personality has traditionally been an important area of understanding human behavior. Modern developmental psychology does not get into the argument of heredity versus environment or of maturation (changes that result from heredity and physical development) versus learning. The human being consists of both physiological and psychological interacting parts. Therefore, heredity, environment, maturation, and learning all contribute to the human personality. vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 21
  • 22. Heredity what make us?  Nature v/s nurture *Heredity and biology *Environment life experience e.g., Identical twins share the same template but have different “states”  Environment and life experience *Plaster v/s plasticity *Set like plaster *Changes throughout adulthood vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 22
  • 23. Continue…..  Views on theory (a) Trait theories: Personality is set of mental systems, different for each individual (b) Humanist theories: Difficult to predict-lives are not scripted-personalities are defined by their own different perceptions and experiences. (c) Behavioral theories: Personality is the constantly changing set of learned behavior, influenced by reinforcements vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 23
  • 25. Basic dimensions of individual interaction in society What is society? “A number of persons associated for any temporary or permanent object; an association for mutual or joint usefulness, pleasure, or profit; a social union; a partnership; as, a missionary society.” vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 26
  • 26. Basic dimension There are two type of dimensions: 1) Primary dimension 2) Secondary dimension Primary Dimension Secondary Dimension •Age •Communication Style •Gender •Work Style •Organizational Role •Nationality •Work Experience •Physical & mental ability •Education •Family •Status (Primary Dimensions are •Attitudes (Secondary Dimensions more visible to others) undergo changes due to the influences of perception and learning) vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 27
  • 27. Major Areas of Individual Differences  Difference in Physique  Difference in Intelligence  Difference in Ability  Difference in Aptitude  Difference in Interests  Difference in Achievements  Difference in Personality vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 28

  • 31. Review of the topic Foundation of Human Skill Basic of Human Nature Influence of Heredity & Environment Basic dimensions of individual interaction in society vaghela_manisha13@yahoo.com 32
  • 32. Conclusion Nature is different from person to person. Nature is affected by many factors like attitude, personality, values etc. Influences of the physical environment and of society on the individual but also the actions of the individual and his reactions to these influences.
