Rural India faces challenges in access to basic needs like drinking water, sanitation, electricity, medical facilities, and elementary education. For drinking water, only 1/3 of rural India has access to clean piped water and availability ranks 133 out of 180 countries. Sanitation is also a major issue as many people practice open defecation, leading to health problems. While the government has electrified most villages, many homes still lack access due to deficits in certain states. Medical facilities are limited with low staffing levels at available centers contributing to high maternity death rates. Elementary education faces issues like poor infrastructure, but the government has implemented schemes to improve awareness, access to telehealth, and involvement of parents in improving the system
