Baptism testifies to that which has already happened in believers; we are buried with Christ and raised from the dead in the Power of God's Holy Spirit.
John 3:1-5. A New Life In Christ. In the new life we have been born again. In the new life we are a new creation. In the new life we crucify the flesh with its passions and desires. In the new life we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. In the new life we are renewed by the Holy Spirit. In the new life we are dead to sin but alive to God. In the new life we are washed from our sins. in the new life we put to death the old man and put on the new man. In the new life we died and our life is hidden with Christ in God. In the new life we were brought back from death in sin.

"These are the times that try men's souls."
This simple quotation from one of America's Founding Fathers, Thomas Paine, not only describes the beginnings of the American Revolution, but also the the increasingly crazy world of 2014.
Many people may be distracted by such times but followers of Jesus must keep their eyes on Jesus and stay the course, not give up and run the race God has assigned to each of us till He calls us home or He comes back to earth.
This message is a reminder of the high stakes of staying in the race until the end and not giving up.
Is Jesus Christ the only way to salvation? Our answer is "Yes". In a world today where pluralism and relativism are readily embraced, where people try to accommodate every idea and notion, and pretentiously overlook obvious contradictions, truth that is "hard and fast" is not readily welcomed. But our goal is not to please people but to proclaim the truth in love and understanding. Each one is free then to make their own decision after having heard the truth. We present 3 simple, yet important reasons why.

Everyone who would be saved from sin and from hell, and would go to Heaven when we die, must place all our faith in Jesus, as God's Son, the Chosen One who would die for the sins of men, and be raised from the dead in the Power of God.
This is a collection of some of the very best writings on the seal of the Holy Spirit. The seal is an assurance and guarantee that we are children of God.
These slides are intended to explain Christmas to those who may be unfamiliar, such as international students. The perspective is from the Bible. Good for presentations.
The third study in our "Growing Deep in the Gospel" series. In this study we answer the question "What isn't the Gospel?" by looking at false gospels, the difference between religion and the gospel and three ways to live: be your own god, make yourself right with God and trust Jesus.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Baptism message 3 27-11
1. March 27, 2011 Water baptism is a testimony of that which has already happened in a believer’s life. Water Baptism Romans 6 When we are born again as children of God, We are baptized into the body of Christ, By the Holy Ghost .
2. In a spiritual sense, we are crucified with Jesus , and raised from the dead in Him in that moment of salvation. We actually take part in His death , burial , and resurrection . We testify to that spiritual baptism with the act of water baptism . What did we die to ? Look at verses 1-3 .
3. Rom 6 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid . How shall we, that are dead to sin , live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? When we were born as human beings , we were born into a life of sin and depravity. When we were born of the Spirit of God into the family of God , We died to that old life .
4. Sin does not have power over a child of God. We have the power to choose. Sin no longer satisfies or gives the same pleasure it once did. We are dead to sin -- as a way of life .
5. And that is portrayed in the act of Baptism when we are put under the water.
6. But, Jesus didn’t stay dead and in the grave. He’s alive ! And we are alive in Him . Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life .
7. So, when I lay a person down in that pool of water, it is his testimony : “ I have died to a life of sin and worldly pleasure .”
8. And when I lift one up out of that water, he is saying , “ I am alive unto God, to live a life of righteousness in the Power of God’s Spirit.”
9. Water Baptism doesn't mean anything until a person is born again : Born of the Spirit of God Into the Family of God. These children have all confessed that they are saved from sin , And intend to live for the Lord . They have asked God to save them in the Name of Jesus .
10. John 3 1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again , he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
11. To be born again is simply a matter of faith . Ephesians 2 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
13. These children have all testified that they are saved and intend to live for the Lord. They are being baptized today to follow Jesus , Not only in water baptism, but throughout their lives.
