Also known as balloon sinuplasty (BSP), the treatment
enables patients to avoid traditional surgical methods,
which involved the cutting of nasal tissue or bone. The
treatment is similar to balloon angioplasty, which
cardiovascular specialists employ in opening up
constricted and blocked arteries surrounding the
heart.

3.  With BSP, a tiny, flexible balloon catheter is
inserted directly into the inflamed sinus and
gently inflated until the sinus area expands and
is restructured. This, in tandem with a saline
spray, enables built-up mucus and pus to drain
from the sinus system. The result is a clinically
significant alleviating of chronic sinusitis
symptoms. Causing no damage to the nasal
passageways, BSP offers quick recovery times,
with a majority of patients able to return to
everyday activities and work within two days.
