 Dr. Angelo Consiglio is a respected Marianna, Florida,
health care professional with more than a decade of
experience treating patients for ear, nose, and throat
conditions. Active in his professional community, Angelo
Consiglio, MD, had the opportunity to attend the
American Rhinologic Society (ARS)-sponsored Summer
Sinus Symposium in Chicago.
Research recently presented at the ARS Annual Meeting
estimates that there are approximately 28 million people
nationwide with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) symptoms.
This common condition involves the inflammation and
swelling of the sinuses for eight weeks or more in ways
that are not responsive to treatment.

3. Chronic Rhinosinusitis
 Caused by infection, nasal growth, or a deviated
nasal septum, CRS can prevent mucus from draining
and result in difficulty breathing. As such, it is distinct
from allergic rhinitis and the common runny nose.
The impact of CRS extends beyond nasal issues
and includes problems with sleep and deterioration
in mood.
The ARS-presented study confirms that chronic
rhinosinusitis is a widespread issue that requires
more attention from the U.S. health care community
and better treatment options. Leading-edge
treatments include balloon sinuplasty.
