This document summarizes a study on evaluating the rate of convergence of the Newton-Raphson method. A computer program was coded in Java to calculate cube roots from 1 to 25 using Newton-Raphson. The lowest rate of convergence was for the cube root of 16, and the highest was for 3. The average rate of convergence was found to be 0.217920. Formulas for estimating the rate of convergence from successive approximations are also presented.
