This study analyzes the phytochemical and antimicrobial properties of Cola gigantea stems, identifying several active compounds and demonstrating their antimicrobial efficacy against various pathogens. Four fractions were isolated and characterized, revealing high concentrations of flavonoids, steroids, and other secondary metabolites, while also highlighting concerns regarding trace mineral levels exceeding WHO recommendations. The results suggest that these stem fractions hold potential as antimicrobial agents, although further purification is recommended for therapeutic use.
