The Sun is our most important energy source, providing the heat and light necessary for life on Earth. There are two types of energy - potential energy, which is stored, and kinetic energy, which is energy in motion. Energy sources are either renewable, like solar and wind, which are constantly replenished, or nonrenewable, like coal and oil, which will eventually be depleted. While energy cannot be created or destroyed, it changes form as it is transferred from one system to another.

2. Most of the energy we get comes from
the Sun. The Sun is our most
important energy source because it
gives the Earth the heat and the light
living organisms need.

3. The two types of Energy are Kinetic energy
and Potential energy.
 Potential energy is stored energy, for
example Chemical, Elastic, Nuclear and
Gravitation.
 Kinetic energy is energy in motion, for
example Electrical , Light, Thermal, Motion
and Sound

4.  Energy sources can be classified into two
groups: renewable and nonrenewable.
 Renewable energy is energy that is
constantly being replaced. For example,
Geothermal, Hydropower, Biomass, Solar,
Wind
 Nonrenewable energy is energy that will
run out. For example, Coal, Oil and Natural
Gas.

5.  Energy is neither created nor
destroyed. It changes from one form
into another.
 Electricity is the form of energy we
use the most
 Motors transform fuel or electricity
into motion.
 Generators transform fuel or the
motion of water or wind into
electricity.

6.  Most of the energy we use comes
from nonrenewable sources.
 Burning fuels can cause global
warming, acid rain and
damage the ozone layer.
