Trafodion brings a completely distributed scalable transaction management implementation integrated into HBase. It does not suffer from the scale and performance limitations of other transaction managers on HBase.
This presentation reviews the elegant architecture and how this architecture is leveraged to provide full ACID SQL transactional capabilities across multiple rows, tables, statements, and region servers. It discusses the life of a transaction from BEGIN WORK, to updates, to ABORT WORK, to COMMIT WORK, and then discusses recovery and high availability capabilities provided. An accompanying white paper goes into depth explaining this animated presentation in more detail.
Given the increasing interest for transaction managers on Hadoop, or to provide transactional capabilities for NoSQL users when needed, the Trafodion community can certainly open up this Distributed Transaction Management support to be leveraged by implementations other than Trafodion.

The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.
zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

2. Introduction
• The technique, process or system of operating or controlling a
process by automated means, as by computers or electronic
devices, reducing human intervention to a minimum.
• Everything around us we see today is automated. Almost all
the process activities in various domains of life happen through
minimum labor workforce.
3. Introduction
• Automation can be achieved by various means
including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical,
electronic and computers.
• A complicated automation system will require
combination of one or more above given means.
• An efficient automated system will do the required job
in minimum time, consuming lesser power and in a
fluent manner.
4. Trends in Automation
• Automated restaurants
• Automated mining
• Automated video surveillance
• Automated highway systems
• Automated waste management
• Home automation
• Industrial Automation
5. Future trends
• With the advent of nanotechnology and nanoscale
assembly systems, MEMS and nano sensors, industrial
automation can undergo a revolution. Nanotechnology
coupled with networking intelligence and wireless
communication will change the future of automation in
every sphere.
• The factory of the future will be small, movable (to where
the resources are, and where the customers are). For
example, there is really no need to transport raw
materials long distances to a plant, for processing, and
then transport the resulting product long distances to the
consumer.
6. Future trends
• Concept of smart homes and smart cities will be seen in
future. Fully automated homes will become a reality in the
future. Public places such as shopping malls and buildings
will be configured with artificial intelligence and smart
automation to provide customers a tech savvy experience.
Future automation will pave the way for smart cities.
7. Interest Areas
• My interest is to work in the development of smart
systems using a combination of sensors, artificial
intelligence and robotics.
• I would work towards building innovative technical
solutions of present day problems faced by the society.
For example, a lot of energy is wasted by running of
headlights and lamps even when they are not required.
This will prompt me to think of a smart control system
where the lights will turn on/off depending on the
occupancy/time of day.
• I am expecting myself to produce innovative technical
solutions in the field of automation for the betterment of
society. I primarily intend to work on process automation,
and smart automation systems.
