Artificial Intelligence:
• “The science and engineering of making intelligent machines,
especially intelligent computer programs”.
• Artificial Intelligence is a way of making a computer, a computer-
controlled robot, or a software think intelligently, in the similar
manner the intelligent humans think.
Institute of Southern Punjab
Goals of Artificial Intelligence:
• The overall research goal of artificial intelligence is to create
technology that allows computers and machines to function in an
intelligent manner.
Institute of Southern Punjab
AI in Computer Network:
• Artificial intelligence systems and their development are becoming
increasingly important. "Smart" devices, self-driving cars, and robots
are all gaining more attention. We are now at the point where people
are worried about losing their jobs to robots.
• Beyond simply designing the network, AI will help manage, maintain
and protect it.
• We will eventually see more profound evolutions of what networks
are capable of, across all industries.
Institute of Southern Punjab
Features of AI in Computer Networks:
• Data transfer rate will be maximum.
• Huge Data can be read swiftly within seconds.
• Makes intelligent decisions whenever required.
• Protects the data.
• Manages the Data.
• Controls the Network traffic intelligently.
• Allows any network to work at it’s maximum speed.
• If any problem occurs then it can fix it by making intelligent decisions
without any human need.
Applications of AI in Computer Networks:
AI networks will use the cloud
Cloud robotics allow robots to take advantage of the rapid increase in
data transfer rates to offload tasks without hard real-time
requirements.
AI networks will store lots of data
• At present, the world produces approximately four exabytes (1018) of
new data each day. We need cognitive computing (an advanced form
of machine learning) that is vital to AI.
• You can't sit down and write all the rules of language and ever feel
like you've completed the task.
Institute of Southern Punjab
AI networks will be fast
• To read all of the data being published on a weekly basis would
require about 160 hours of reading a week.
• AI systems must be able to interpret our data quickly.
• The ability to automatically and dynamically route traffic between
the internet and the private network will ensure that employees
are able to enjoy super-fast access to applications and data to
collaborate securely and seamlessly, wherever in the world they
are.
• With this we will eventually see more profound evolutions of what
networks are capable of, across all industries.
Institute of Southern Punjab
Some more Applications in other field of networks
• An AI-enhanced network can provide, faster, more accurate product
discovery for customers, leading to increased order values and
conversion rates for their company’s shopping portals. In the
healthcare industry, a network built on artificial intelligence can
analyze thousands of documents in minutes to help doctors make
more informed decisions about patient care. Meanwhile, in the call
center business, networks that leverage AI can more accurately and
quickly route and service customer inquiries.
Institute of Southern Punjab
AI in Network Security:
• The application of Artificial Intelligence in network security
management are as follows:
• Intelligent Firewall:
Its recognition technology is intelligent. Compared to the traditional
defense software, intelligent firewall has high efficiency of security
check and efficiently contains the viral transmission and invasion.
Institute of Southern Punjab
• Intrusion Detection:
The function of intrusion detection in the network of computer system
directivity influences the security of system resources. The intrusion
detection is mostly used in the fuzzy recognition system and other
detections.
• Intelligent anti-spam System:
It safeguard’s the users mailbox. This system applies the protective
technique which especially defends the junk software. And its basis is
to safeguard the security of user’s information on which the junk mail
is scanning. And meanwhile, it remind user to deal with these
information and safeguard the mailbox.

Ant Colony Optimization (ACO):
• “Ant Colony Optimization is to by mimic real ants cooperating
behavior with simulating pheromone trail to find out the shortest
path”.
• In the real world ants search aimlessly until they find food, once they
do they return to the colony the fastest way they know how and they
mark their path with a pheromone trail. This trail is updated by
probabilities which are increased whenever a successful path is
achieved.
Institute of Southern Punjab
• If a router suddenly goes down the ants are trained to deal with this
situation and do so quickly. As the reports of ants reaching their
destination stop coming back to the router, the next ants will choose
the second best path and the best route will be altered quickly.
Institute of Southern Punjab
• Strength/Advantages of ACO:
One important advantage from using ACO is that these ants have a
constant size in bits. This size is small enough to be piggybacked on top
of other packets that need to be sent along this path. This means that
these messages cost little to no extra overhead, unlike circuit switching
and packet switching.
• Uses of ACO:
Ant Colony Optimization is not just useful for computer networks. At
the root level, it is used to determining the best way to get a person
from their current location to their destination.
• Hurdle in ACO:
The main reason is the cost of change. It is very difficult to upgrade
routers across the board to handle new routing techniques.
Institute of Southern Punjab
Pros and Cons of AI in Computer Networks:
Advantages
• No Breaks.
• Digital Assistants.
• Error reduction.
• Repetitive Jobs.
• Daily Application.
Disadvantages
• High Cost.
• No Improvement with
Experience.
• No Original Creativity.
• Unemployment.
