Introduction
Instrumentation is a collective term for
measuring instruments used for
indicating, measuring and recording
physical quantities, and has its origins in
the art and science of scientific
instrument-making.
Nowadays, as technology develops,
instrumentation is often used in various
fields of our life. So, in our project, we
make “Automatic Gate with Photocell
Sensor and Safety Ultrasonic Sensor”
with using arduino as a controller.

A photocell is any of a wide range of
sensors that react based on the presence of
light or electromagnetic energy. They can be
found in many different forms, from solar
panels that use light to generate electricity, to
photoresistors, which shift in resistance based
on how much light is present. This device is
one of the most important modern
advancements, allowing for a whole range of
new technologies to be created.
Ultrasonic sensor

As the name indicates, ultrasonic
sensors measure distance by using
ultrasonic waves.
The sensor head emits an ultrasonic wave
and receives the wave reflected back from
the target. Ultrasonic Sensors measure
the distance to the target by measuring
the time between the emission and
reception.
SERVO MOTOR

A servo motor is a rotary actuator or linear
actuator that allows for precise control of angular or
linear position, velocity and acceleration. It consists
of a suitable motor coupled to a sensor for position
feedback. It also requires a relatively sophisticated
controller, often a dedicated module designed
specifically for use with servomotors
BUZZER

A buzzer or beeper is
an audio signalling device, which may
be mechanical, electromechanical,
or piezoelectric (piezo for short). Typical
uses of buzzers and beepers include alarm
devices, timers, and confirmation of user
input such as a mouse click or keystroke.
LED

A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light
source that emits light when current flows through it.

PROJECT
▫ Prepare tools and materials
needed, there are: Ice
cream sticks, wood, acrylic
paint, and brush.
▫ Cut and stack the ice cream
sticks into the shape of the
house, fence, and gate.
▫ Used wood as a base.
▫ Color it with acrylic paint.

WORK?
The LDR sensor will be
stored under the road, so that if the
LDR sensor is covered by a missed
car, the gate will automatically
open.

Introduction Instrumentation is a collective term for measuring instruments used for indicating, measuring and recording physical quantities, and has its origins in the art and science of scientific instrument-making. Nowadays, as technology develops, instrumentation is often used in various fields of our life. So, in our project, we make “Automatic Gate with Photocell Sensor and Safety Ultrasonic Sensor” with using arduino as a controller. 3
  • 5. ARDUINO UNO 5 ARDUINO UNO IS USED AS A MICROCONTROLLER. THERE ARE THE SPECIFICATION OF ARDUINO UNO: Microcontroller ATmega328P – 8 bit AVR family microcontroller Operating Voltage 5V Recommended Input Voltage 7-12V Input Voltage Limits 6-20V Analog Input Pins 6 (A0 – A5) Digital I/O Pins 14 (Out of which 6 provide PWM output) DC Current on I/O Pins 40 mA DC Current on 3.3V Pin 50 mA Flash Memory 32 KB (0.5 KB is used for Bootloader) SRAM 2 KB EEPROM 1 KB Frequency (Clock Speed) 16 MHz
  • 6. PHOTOCELL SENSOR 6 A photocell is any of a wide range of sensors that react based on the presence of light or electromagnetic energy. They can be found in many different forms, from solar panels that use light to generate electricity, to photoresistors, which shift in resistance based on how much light is present. This device is one of the most important modern advancements, allowing for a whole range of new technologies to be created.
  • 7. Ultrasonic sensor 7 As the name indicates, ultrasonic sensors measure distance by using ultrasonic waves. The sensor head emits an ultrasonic wave and receives the wave reflected back from the target. Ultrasonic Sensors measure the distance to the target by measuring the time between the emission and reception.
  • 8. SERVO MOTOR 8 A servo motor is a rotary actuator or linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity and acceleration. It consists of a suitable motor coupled to a sensor for position feedback. It also requires a relatively sophisticated controller, often a dedicated module designed specifically for use with servomotors
  • 9. BUZZER 9 A buzzer or beeper is an audio signalling device, which may be mechanical, electromechanical, or piezoelectric (piezo for short). Typical uses of buzzers and beepers include alarm devices, timers, and confirmation of user input such as a mouse click or keystroke.
  • 10. LED 10 A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source that emits light when current flows through it.

  • 12. 12 HOW TO MAKE THE PROJECT
  • 13. DESIGN PROJECT ▫ Prepare tools and materials needed, there are: Ice cream sticks, wood, acrylic paint, and brush. ▫ Cut and stack the ice cream sticks into the shape of the house, fence, and gate. ▫ Used wood as a base. ▫ Color it with acrylic paint. 13
  • 15. HOW TO WORK? The LDR sensor will be stored under the road, so that if the LDR sensor is covered by a missed car, the gate will automatically open. 15
