Wearable Technologies And Mobile Ehealth Applications
Wearable technologies and mobile eHealth applications have becomes very popular in the recent
years. From Fitbit to My eHealth, these technologies are making it easier for people to monitor
their lifestyles and health. These technologies are making is easier for people to control their
health by having more access to information and the ability to look up their record without having
to go into the doctor s office. With the advancement in these technology, there is also barriers to the
deployment of them. I believe the biggest barriers to deployment of wearable technologies and
mobile eHealth applications are design, data collection, and lack of interoperability.

Design is a huge factor when deploying wearable technologies and eHealth systems. Unless there
is a good design that is not bulky and is easy to use, users will not want to adopt the new product.
The second barrier is data collection, with the rise of wearable technology and eHealth
applications the collection of data has been increasing. Data collection is the center of all
applications and wearables. How is data being used or what is the company storing? This is a
huge barrier due to the fact that more people are becoming aware of their personal privacy. With
phones your GPS is tracked unless specifically turned off and you are able to get a workout at a
click of a button. But with all of this data being collected, are companies only using it for your
personal use or are they using it for another matter (Hooge, 2015)? Data collection is a barrier
due to the fact that people do not know what the companies are using the data for. Most users of
the wearables or eHealth applications do not own their data, the data is instead stored and
collected by the companies. Users only get provided with a summary of the data collected while
the company has free reign to do whatever they please with it. With the increase of people
understanding their privacy and rights, it provides a barrier with wearables and eHealth
applications as people want to understand how their data is being used (Piwek, Ellis,

DRESS Syndrome Research Paper
DД°SCUSSД°ON Dress syndrome was diagnosed because after Trimebutin maleate use was seen

DRESS syndrome is an acute, severe and life threatening disease with a mortality rate of about 10%,
which is frequently associated with systemic organ involvement involving liver dysfunction, renal
impairment and interstitial pneumonitis. It is not clear incidence of DRESS syndrome known as
hypersensitivity reactions. More than 50 drugs that caused the notification is made DRESS

Elijah McCoy
Elijah McCoy was an African American who had may inventions that changed the world of train
travel, but faced many hardships along the way. Elijah McCoy was born in Colchester, Ontario,
Canada, and was later sent to Edinburgh, Scotland by his parents to study mechanical engineering,
he then moved to Detroit, Michigan. Due to racism he could only get a job as a fireman or oilman
on a steam engine train. McCoy s first invention the automatic lubricator was a revolutionary way
of lubricating steam engines without having to shut them down for long periods of time which
saved an enormous amount of time and effort in transportation.

With the train industry growing the need for bigger trains and freight cars were a must and James
J. Hill builder of the Great Northern Railroad he made this happen building trains 4 times the size
of the old ones. They used a super heated steam system that made Elijah McCoy s first patent of the
lubricating system not compatible with these newer trains. These trains were lubricated with a
mix of oil and powdered graphite so that the trains parts could be lubricated properly. The
problem with Elijah s first patent is that with the new mix of graphite the lubricator would clog
up. This all changed in April of 1915 when he received a patent for a new and improved
lubricator in which he called Locomotive Lubricator with this patent he stated that it permitted the
use of graphite without clogging. Hayden Cites a railroad superintendent states We have found
the McCoy Graphite Lubricator to be of considerable assistance in lubrication of locomotives
equipped with superheaters. There is a decided advantage in better lubrication and reduction of
wear in valves and piston rings, and as a well lubricated engine is more economical in the use of
fuel, there is unquestionably a saving in fuel. When Elijah McCoy was younger his parents ran
away from the United States using the underground railroad due to racism and them being slaves.

Ophelia Character Analysis
In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair
maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father
Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good
daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life
and death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius
eavesdrops to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and
Ophelia s docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia
begins her dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death.
Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only
fair and trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death
with its dark and apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet
realizes his beloved is approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia
does not hear what he is saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86).
His mood perks up and the tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph
(III.i.87). Shakespeare s diction here further builds upon how the audience sees their relationship.
The positive connotation of this word puts Ophelia on a pedestal while

Meditation Write-Up
Meditation Write Up Initially, I was nervous to begin daily meditations because I had tried to
meditate before and I could never truly calm my mind from the thousands of thoughts that would
swirl around. However, after meditating for fifteen minutes daily for a week, I can now say that I
have become more comfortable with meditation, but it was a challenging week. At many times, I felt
uncomfortable sitting in silence because my thoughts would constantly distract me from trying to
focus on my breathing. Yet, as the week progressed, I noticed that I became more comfortable with
the practice. Surprisingly, time passed very quickly when I meditated, it felt as though it was
roughly five minutes, when it was really fifteen minutes. As well, the

The Controversy Over Stem Cell Research
In recent years, stem cell research has become a prominent way of treating: heart disease, cancer,
HIV/AIDS, spinal problems, and much more ; moreover, in recent years as Stem cell research
became more popular, it has sparked controversy over the religion aspect of stem cell research.
Stem cell research begins with culturing an embryonic celland then injecting the stem cellinto the
area of concern(Robertson). Pluripotent stem cells are gathered and used to treat the areas,
pluripotent stem cells are those that are in the earliest stages of development ; in addition, at this
stage, cells can learn the jobs and take shape of cells that did the job once before (Robertson).

Although to some scientist, human embryos are not considered to be a human at that point because
they cannot feel pain ; on the contrary, religious groups believe that a human embryo should have
the same human rights as a live human.
The picture above helps show the controversy between the two sides. Scientist believe that stem
cell research should be allowed if the stem cells are cultured within the first trimester (Lazar).
They believe this because during the first trimester, the embryo is just a small cluster of cells. It
is not affected by the outside environment, it does not react to pain; in addition, it also does not
react to pleasure. The pros of Stem Cell Research and Treatment are never ending. There is an
account of two women being completely blind, but due to stem cell research, their sight was
repaired. Another case is that of a ninety five year old woman who was taken off medication and
her health somewhat restored due to the use of stem cells. Doctors were able to inject stem cells
into her heart and they took the shape of heart neurons. In past years, some states have completely
banned stem cell research and stem cell treatment; none the less, a recent court case ruled that
fetuses are not considered to be human until after the first trimester because that is when they begin
to react to pain and pleasure (Robertson). Although some view stem cell research as immoral and
wrong, others

Peer Led Groups Research Paper
Peer led groups focus on connecting people with a shared experience or goal. Individuals work
together to provide support and knowledge through their own experiences. Like any group, peer
led support groups can be personal and stressful so my question is this; how do peer led support
groups function when emotions become high and raw? Group setting can be stressful when
working with different personalities and opinions, so what steps can be taken to see to an effective
outcome? Every group has a different purpose. Some groups are put together to create a final
outcome whereas peer led groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, where the group purpose is sobriety
and higher power, are put together to create an ongoing support system.

Boundaries enable your self worth and carry a level of emotional protection. Personal boundaries
help you decide what you believe to be true and empower you to act.
Over time some group role come to light. We notice than one person may seem to direct the room
flow more than others, one person never seems to speak or never agrees. Expression of emotions
is encouraged in peer led support groups, often leading to anger and arguments. Group settings
such as these are places were individuals feel safe to disclose their deepest woes leading to high
and raw emotions. While every group can experience challenging members, the main types of
people encountered are the quiet members, the monopolizer, the joker, the angry member and the
fixer. The quiet member seems to usually keep to themselves while the monopolizer is the
opposite and tends to take over the conversation. The joker enjoys the spotlight and being the life
of the party. The angry member never seems to find comfort or happiness in discussion while the
fixer always tries to help

Importance of Technical Assistance and Back-Up Plan in...
In event planning, problems can and often will arise at the worst possible moment. Technical
difficulties such as those involving AV equipment, internet connectivity and sound systems may
occur. Causes include people tripping over wires, faulty equipment, faulty electrical connections,
or missing components. In the event of a limited site team and the lack of additional equipment,
it becomes necessary to move to Plan B. Check immediately to see if the venue offers any
technical assistance, support, or back up equipment. It is important to consider this, even if it
means incurring expenses. If necessary, accept the financial loss if it means continuation of the
event and preserving customer satisfaction. It is important to do a quick troubleshoot to
determine that the problem truly is what you are assuming it is. Test equipment in other power
outlets, for example, to rule out the possibility that the outlet is the problem instead of the
equipment. If in fact the power source is the problem, equipment can quickly be moved to
another location with adequate power. If a wire or cord is dysfunctional or damaged, seek other
equipment for a possible quick swap. If that equipment is also in use, determine which event
process is most critical and utilize the power cord there first. Once a root problem has been
determined and if no other alternatives are available on site, consider sending a team member
assigned to a non essential task to retrieve the additional equipment. You

Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Christian Counseling

Summary The author of this book Mark McMinn explains how psychology, theology, and
spirituality can all be integrated into Christian counseling. He discusses the difference between the
three overlapping principles. He wrote this book especially for Christian counselors, pastors, as
well as students so that they may clearly understand the meaning of the three principles, allowing
them to apply it to everyday problems. The main question this book poses to answer is, How does a
Christian counselor integrate their faith into a counseling session in a way that can be beneficial to

McMinn 2011, lets us know that spirituality and psychology have to be used together in order for
us to have a accurate sense of self, accurate awareness of need, and healing relationships.
Concrete Responses
After reading this book , I mostly thought about how I first integrated my faith with my personal
relationships. I have been Christian for a couple of years now, but every person I get close to or
friend I have are not all Christian. Therefore, I had to learn how to not let their habits influence
me with what I do and say. I have friends that smoke, get drunk, curse, and many other things that
I find not to be Christian behavior. These were once things that I also had taken part in, so
continuing our friendship and letting go of bad habits was a struggle for me. Integrating my
new life with my old life was changeling because I was always told that your are the company
that you keep. I had to make sure I didn t get myself into situations that could hurt me in the long
run. I was set on continuing the friendship I had and remaining a Christian as well. I can
remember the first time my faith was tested. It was around five months after I changed my life
around. I was invited to go out to the movies and out to eat with a big group of friends. Being
that it was only a dinner and a movie, I assumed it would be okay. The night started off really well,

Pennsylvania Dutch Word Hex
The word hex can be used as either a verb or noun. The verb hex means to bewitch or to practice
witchcraft on . As a noun, the word can refer to a spell, a charm or a witch. Etymologically, the
word hex began as an American English concept in 1830. It originated with the Pennsylvania
Dutch, who immigrated to this country from Germany in the 18th century. The word is from
Pennsylvania German hexe, which means to practice witchcraft . Hexe comes from the German
word hexen to hex and the word Hexe which means witch . It is related to the Old High German

witches. The Pennsylvania Dutch emigrated from Germany and Switzerland in several waves and

It is whatever the practitioner puts into the hex. By insinuating that a hex is evil, as is
commonly believed, we are perpetuating misinformation. It s important to understand how this
form of manipulative magick works so a practitioner will understand the need for prudence when
working with hexes. For my definition of hex in the assignment Off the Top of Your Head , I
defined a hex as a spell cast that intends either positive or negative outcome????? I don t know on
this one? . Obviously I had much learning to do of this term. While it s true that it could have
either a positive or negative outcome, one should strive for positive, always weighing possible
outcomes. I did not realize that it was a form of manipulative magick, nor had I ever heard of
that, but it makes sense. I had always seen hexes portrayed, especially by Hollywood, as
something evil or bad. To summarize, hexes are not by nature something evil. They have been
given a bad reputation by the uninformed. They are a form of manipulative magick that can be
used in a beneficial way, especially to prevent someone from causing harm to themselves or others.
The word hex originated with the Pennsylvania Dutch who use their own form of magick both
symbolically in their hex signs and as part of Pow wow

The New Outlook on Vampires
The idea of an undead night stalker that feeds on human blood has been around for centuries and
endures to this day. Numerous countries and cultures across the globe have personal deviations of a
similar folkloric entity. No matter the variation, all vampire tales have a key commonality the lust
for human blood. It was not until the late 19th century that an Irish author compiled a breadth of
knowledge on such folkloric tales and concocted the character that now acts as the template for the
vampire myth. Bram Stoker s Dracula was first published in 1897 and from that point forward the
novelist s title character set the precedent for all fictional vampires. The Evolution of the Vampire

How Has Social Class Made In My Life
The difference that social class has made in my life is that it leaves no aspect of life untouched.
If I had to rank my families social class, I would consider us as the lower middle class. My husband

Plus, she is only a child and realizes that she is relatively powerless against him. As a result, Ellen
does the only thing she can: She goes to sleep beside her dying mother. She may not say it herself,
but Ellen loves her mother. By sleeping beside her dead mother, the heartbreaking picture of
childhood innocence, Ellen is attempting to hold on in the only way she can.
When she stays for a short time with her Aunt Betsy, she assumes she is staying with her forever;
the same holds true when she is in the temporary care of her art teacher. Eventually, Ellen s desire
for a family becomes so strong that she petitions a foster mother herself, journeying to the woman s
house and even offering her money. Ellen s past living situations all included a house in which she
lived, but now she has truly found the family she needs and cherishes.
Chris McCandless is a wolf without a pack. According to his family, he had always been prone to
straying from his family and friends, even going as far as to take a solo road trip across the
country the summer after his high school graduation. During his last year in college, he lived
without a telephone and had not attempted to contact his family very often. In Into the Wild
Krakauer reports that after Chris graduates from college, he was unencumbered, emancipated from
the stifling world of his parents and peers. . . a world in which he felt grievously cut off from the
raw throb of existence (22).

Menstrual Taboos On Children s Mental And Physical Health
Menstrual Taboos
In general, menstruation is not seen as an appropriate topic of conversation. People are often
uncomfortable with the very idea of it, and some are even ignorant of its function. Numerous
religions and cultures regard a woman s monthly period as impure, unclean, or even dangerous.
The practices and views resulting from these widespread beliefs can be harmful to women s mental
and physical health, as well as their livelihood and relationships with others. The purpose of this
paper is to examine menstrual taboos in various cultures and throughout history, compare the views
of believers of these ideas with those skeptic of them, and apply this issue to psychology.

When impregnation does not occur, the endometrium, along with blood and vaginal discharge,
leaves the uterus through the vagina, and the cycle repeats itself (Hyde DeLamater, 2014).
Nothing of this process indicates any toxicity in women, or any effect on them outside of the
physical. It is a monthly biological cycle that occurs in fertile women to prepare for the possibility
of conception, and any negative view towards it or the women experiencing it has its source in
ignorance, fear, or in the words of books written thousands of years before anyone even had an
inkling of how menstruation works.
History
Without knowing the reason why menstruation occurs, it is a scary idea; a woman, uninjured,
begins to bleed for days from the area of childbirth and intercourse every month. It would be easy
to relate this occurrence, to something mystical and powerful. The vagina itself has been a thing
of mystery, with some cultures considering it to be a channel to the beyond; babies are born
through it, and without knowledge of how they develop, some believed that newborns simply
came from another plane of existence (Magli, 2009, p. 91). The belief that a woman s body holds
a portal to some other world makes it frightening and possibly dangerous, and many traditions have
manifested in an attempt to control this supposed power, such as infibulation (cutting the labia so
when the tissue heals, it creates a barrier over the vaginal opening) and separation of women

Barry Meer s Claims
In this passage I do not think Barry Meier, the author supports his claim made in the title. The
author gives all the opposite reasons to support his claim like rats injected with an energy drink

Summary Of My Name Is Joey Tribbiani And I
My name is Joey Tribbiani and I live in an apartment with my friend Chandler Geller. I am a very
talented actor. My friends live right next to us. We visit them daily and meet up at the coffee
house next to us in Manhattan,New York City my home. And the big thing about me is that I
have a superpower. My superpower is Telekinesis and nobody will ever know. I found out I had this
ability when I was 10 years old. I was lying in my home just outside of Queens and everything just
started to fly everywhere when I was frustrated because I was not allowed to go to my friends
birthday party because it was snowing and my mom thought I would catch a cold. I have learned
to control superpower and I use it alot when nobody is around including my best friends Chandler
Geller, Rachel Smith, Monica Green and Ross Bing. But my life has changed now.
When Chandler said he would go shopping for some food in our apartment he never came back.
There Is now a criminal in my life. He kidnapped my Chandler and left a note at our apartment. It
said if I wanted to see Chandler again meet on in Central Park at 12:00 AM! He also said if I
notify the police he will murder Chandler. If you bring any one with me he will still kill
Chandler. I raced across the hall to tell Monica and rachel. Right after after I told them they cried
a little but I had no time to comfort them because I had to save Chandler. I have to go save him at

Amadeus, the Movie Essay
Amadeus begins with an attempted suicide by composer Antonio Salieri, who is overcome with
guilt about supposedly killing Mozart. His life is saved by his aids and he is sent to what looks
like a mental hospital, where a priest is sent to council him. The whole story is told through the
eyes of Salieri on his death bed, confessing to his priest. The whole movie takes place in Vienna,
Austria. Besides the first few scenes where Mozart is seen as a child, the story begins in 1782 when
Mozart is the age of 26; the story being told by Salieri takes place around 1825, near his death.
Amadeusis primarily set in the noble class, and doesn t do the best job portraying the poor side of

However Mozart never sees through his deception and thinks of his as a loyal friend and
colleague to the end. Constanze Mozart, played by Elizabeth Berridge, is the wife of Mozart.
She is by far the most sensible in the relationship. Throughout the whole movie she is concerned
of Mozart s frivolous spending and at some points, refusal to do work that really pays. She is
also extremely concerned of Mozart s physical and mental well being. She is also the only one
who can stand up to Mozart s father for him, calling him lazy and unappreciative. I was much more
fond of the symphony music played by Mozart, although there was not much featured in the movie.
I am not a big fan of Opera s to begin with, so I am a little biased when judging them. I found Don
Giovanni and the Opera written alongside Salieri more preferential; there was more substance
and feeling in those. The opera Figaro to be extremely boring; apparently so did Joseph II. It
was extremely slow with the same dark melody the whole piece. I most enjoyed the first Opera
commissioned by Emperor Joseph II. The whole piece was brilliantly put together, I can t imagine
how someone could put all those notes together and make is sound like it did. It reminds me of
listening to Jimi Hendrix on the guitar, or Bach on the Harpsichord. Mozart was an extremely
childish, immature person; yet one of the most talented musicians of all time.

Essay On Descartes Mind And Body Dualism
In what sense (if any) is it true that the mind is better known than the body? Discuss the
implications of your answer.
INTRODUCTION
Descartes Meditations on First Philosophy (1641) is generally considered to be the starting point
of Western Philosophy. SUMMARY OF THE MEDIATIONS
On of the most lasting and notable legacies of Descartes philosophy is mind body dualism, which
may interpreted simply as distinction of mind and body. Descartes argues that the nature of mind
that may be understood as thinking, doubting, willing ( thinking thing ) is totally distinguished
from the body nature ( non thinking thing ). It is necessary to identify that Descartes uses the
concept of mind to refer to the consciousness, thinking self.
The Second Mediations is subtitled by The nature of human mind and how its better known than the
body proves that thinking thing , ability of thinking and arguing is the only true faculty. This
argument derives from the end of the First Mediation, where he turns all knowledge into questions
and it s impossible to be certain of anything. Descartes, in exploring the relationship between the
mind and body, suggests that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, if it is false, the wax argument is based on the perception of mind, and this prove that the
Mediator is thinking, therefore there is evidence of existence and being thinking thing . Descartes
states that the [notion or] perception of wax has seemed to me clearer and more distinct, not only
after the sight or the touch, but also after many other causes have rendered it quite manifest to me
(Descartes, 1991:12). This illustrates that the mediator can use senses to help to perceive the world.
Evidently, that the only way of not being deceived is only doubting everything. Hence, the doubts
and concerning that are beyond the senses may help to achieve the understanding that wax is still
there after all that

Poe s The Man of the Crowd As a Satire of the Penny Press
In the mid nineteenth century , the penny newspaper could be found on almost every American
urban street corner. These penny papers, as they were popularly called, provided the American
people for the first time in history with informative articles about local city events, incidents, and,
more importantly, inner city crime. These penny rags revealed an entirely new world to the
American citizens; they were informed for the first time of the many heinous crimes and murders
that occurred right in the vicinity of their own houses. At a time when America was first being
introduced to such local injustices, it is quite understandable that penny papers claiming to ... Show

In hopes of spotting such profitable incidents, penny press journalists were always on the look out
for anything suspicious and anything worthy of being sensationalized. Interestingly, in his short
story, The Man of the Crowd, Edgar Allan Poe includes a first person narrator who also seems to
be on the look out for anything out of the ordinary.
While he may not reveal himself as a penny journalist, this narrator certainly plays the part of one
as he singles out an old man making a devious gesture in the crowd and begins to speculate about
his possible criminal intentions. Like a nosy penny tabloid reporter hungry for a juicy lead, the
narrator follows the old man into the night, hoping, if not to catch him in an act of crime, then to fit
his behaviors into the mold of criminality. Interestingly, while the old man does in fact turn out to
be nothing more than an innocent wanderer of the streets, the narrator still proceeds to formulate
his own exaggerated conclusions about the old man s supposed criminal intentions. By setting the
first person narrator up as the stereotypical penny journalist and then making the very target of his
exaggeration nothing more than an innocent, commonplace man of the crowd, it can be argued that
Poe is in fact mocking the penny press for their tendency to inflate the actions of innocent people

Chapter 2 2.0 Literature Review 2.1 Overview of concentration problem Concentrators is devices
which join the traffic on low speed lines into a single stream which can use a higher speed line. For
example, switching equipment. (Kershenbaum, 1993). The concentrator location problem is used
to determine the number and location of concentrators and to allocate the non concentrators that
assigned to these concentrators at minimum cost in a computer network. Figure 1 Network

Formulation of concentrator problem As mentioned in the previous, the main problem addressed in
this study is the concentrator location problem where all non concentrators are connected directly
to concentrators. The problem is to minimize the total cost Z given by Z=

The instability created in Europe by World War I set the stage for another international conflict
World War II, which broke out two decades later and proved to be even more devastating. Rising
to power in an unstable country, Germany, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party had ambitions of
world domination. Hitler s invasion of Poland in September 1939 drove Great Britain and
France to declare war on Germany, and World War II had begun. Over the next six years, the
conflict would take more lives and destroy more land and property around the globe than any
previous war with estimated 45 60 million casualties (Stevenson). During World War II various

The use of the Navajo language to create a code during World War II was the idea of Philip
Johnston, the son of William and Margaret Johnston who were Protestant missionaries to the
Navajo (Holm 71). Johnston was born and raised in the reservation; he was also the one of very
few Americans who could speak the Navajo language precisely (Aaseng 17). In February of 1942,
Johnston was able to present the language to the commanders of the Marine Corps and the idea
impressed them, so that they allowed Johnston to start a Navajo Code Talker Test Program. Later in
April, Johnston and the Marine Corps commanders went to the reservation and recruited thirty
men (Aaseng 23). The men that were recruited marked the start of the pilot program. Of the first
thirty men who joined the program, only twenty nine completed it and went to help the war
effort. The two men that had dropped out were not qualified for service as code talkers for the
Marine Corps (Paul 75). This group of the twenty nine Navajo men came to be called the original
twenty nine. The Navajo men that were recruited often lacked birth certificates so it was
impossible for the Marine Corps to verify ages, but after the war it was discovered that some
recruits were as young as fifteen and some were as old as thirty five (Paul 14). Once the Navajo
men were given the task to create the code it was not an easy task. Each military word had to be

The Safety Of A Car Vehicle
Most of the automotive companies believe that the next generation of cars are going to be
autonomous vehicles, but not all of them have the same opinion about it. Some companies want
to bring a fully autonomous car to reality, which wouldn t need any human interaction to drive
the car, while other ones are interested in driverless cars, which need humans to drive them.
Both autonomous and driverless concepts give cars more control over themselves, and both
aim to give more comfort for mankind, thus providing an easier life for drivers and passengers,
but the idea of an autonomous car on the roads raises some questions about the safety of it and
the responsibility over a car like this. A driverless car can have most of the autonomous features,
it just needs someone to drive it, and then the control would also be from a person that would be
more watchful and take responsibilities over the car. Ford is going to launch an autonomous car.
The company already has a semi autonomous one in market, the Fusion hybrid, and they say that
the car is automated, but by automated they mean that it is capable of automated operation under
the supervision of a human driver. Ford already have one step in automated driving, and in five
years they are going to bring two new innovative features that are going to be essential for self
driving cars; one is the fully automated parking that allows the vehicle to park itself with no help
from the driver, the driver just have to press a button, then

Absurdity In The Stranger By Albert Camus
In the book The Stranger, by Albert Camus, the use of absurdity is at a great extent. Throughout
the book, Camus gives plenty of absurd scenarios that are carried out by the characters. This
essay will point out many of the parts from the book which are great examples of this topic. In
the beginning of the book, the main character and narrator, Meursault, is notified that his mother
has passed away. She lived in an old people s home because she was sick and Meursault could not
afford to take care of her. The absurdpart about this event, is the fact that Meursault did not even
shed a tear at his own mother s funeral. Another ridiculous part is that he did not even know her
age! He was asked by one of the undertakers, Was she old? And Meursault replied, Fairly, then
after stating, because I didn t know the exact number, (p.16). It is completely absurd to not know
your own mother s age. Meursault also didn t want to look at his mother in the casket. Instead, he
drank coffee and smoked during the funeral. That is purely absurd to do at one s own mother s
funeral. Another example of absurdity in the book, The Stranger, would be Meursault s feelings
towards his girlfriend, Marie. They have a very intimate relationship and Marie even tells
Meursault that she loves him. However, when Marie asked if he loved her back, he replied that he
did not. As strong and intimate their relationship is, it is almost absurd for Meursault to say that he
doesn t love her. He even fantasizes

mammoth horseshoe formed rock, are 30 caves overlooking a gorge, `each forming a room in the

A first group of caves was created in the 2nd century BC: the chaitya grihas open into the rock wall
by doorways surmounted by a horse shoe shaped bay. The ground plan is a basilical one: piers
separate the principal nave from the side aisles which join in the apsis to permit the ritual
circumambulation behind the (commemorative monument). This rupestral architecture
scrupulously reproduces the forms and elements visible in wooden constructions.
According to Spink (2006), the first phase was the construction of sanctuaries (known as chaytia
grihas) built during the period 100 BCE to 100 CE, probably under the patronage of the
Satavahana dynasty (230 BCE c. 220 CE) in the canyons of the Waghora River. The caves 9, 10,

Andrew Jackson Versus The Cherokee Nation, And Native...
The U.S. Government used treaties as a way to displace Native Americans from their tribal lands, a
mechanism that was strengthened with the Removal Act of 1830. In cases where this strategy
failed, the government sometimes violated both treaties and Supreme Court rulings to ensure the
spread of Americans westward across the continent. As the 19th century began, many Americans
poured into the backcountry of the South and began moving toward and into what would later
become the states of Alabama and Mississippi. Since Indian tribes living there appeared to be the
main obstacle to westward expansion, white settlers motioned for the federal government to
displace them. This phenomenon was described by authors Robert V. Remini, in his article Andrew
JacksonVersus the CherokeeNation , and Chief John Ross, in his letter To the Senate and House of
Representatives . They express the views of Andrew Jackson and the Cherokee Indians respectively.
Author Chief John Ross wrote a letter to the senate in protest of the treaty of New Echota. A group
of Cherokee claimed to be representatives of their people, agreeing to relocate past the Mississippi,
even though 15,000 citizens opposed moving. This occurred at the Red Clay Council Ground,
Cherokee Nation in 1836 and the Cherokee people didn t want to relocate, angry that the decision
was made without their input.

How and to What Extent Did War and Violence Contribute to...
How and to what extent did war and violence contribute to the definition of chivalry as both an
historical and social phenomenon?
It is largely acknowledged by historians that, while it is difficult to be definitive in the meaning
of chivalry with Maurice Keen believing it to be a word elusive of definition it came to denote
the culture of a martial estate which regarded war as its hereditary profession . Thus, it could be
considered that the violence of war had large implications on what people began to perceive to be
chivalry. Additionally, the focus on violence such as the participating in tournaments and jousts
further emphasises the close link between carrying out violent acts and the idea that a knight was
being chivalrous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The historian Richard Kaeuper notes that prowess being crucial to honor may have contributed
as much to the problem of violence as it provided a solution . Therefore, this appears to convey
why the concept of chivalry began to be associated with violence and warfare as knights, in the
pursuit of honor, became reliant on violence and battle to prove their aptitude. This idea is
supported by a medieval knight Sir John Chandos, who stated that men brought up for martial
calling cannot live without war and do not know how to . Maurice Keen argues that chivalry was
quintessentially bellicose as it presented those who fought has having a pinnacle of honor . As a
result, the use of force by knights as a way of denoting their gallantry led to the belief that violence
was intrinsic to the notion of chivalry.
Furthermore, within the medieval period there was the development of certain traditions and
rewards associated with the concept of chivalry. The partaking in tournaments and jousting is
argued by Keen to have been a step on the scale of chivalrous perfection . In these activities acts
of violence were glorified and those who were successful were rewarded, thus endorsing and
entrenching the belief that violence and success in war were the main premises on which chivalry
was based. The extent to which violence contributed to what came to define chivalry is

Characteristics Of Bilbo In The Hobbit
Bilbo Baggins is the last being in The Hobbit to be considered a monster. J.R.R. Tolkien made
sure to depict Bilbo as an innocent, loving, and merciful being. However the reader cannot deny
the fact that he possesses some characteristics of a monster. Dating back to the 1300s, monsters
have been defined as people whom are of abnormal form and structure. It can be argued that every
species, besides the humans, are monsters, including Hobbits like Bilbo. Furthermore Bilbo is
unlike a typical Hobbitthanks to his Tookish lineage; therefore he is even more abnormal. Their
neighbors, in part because of their wealth, have always respected the Bagginses but also because
they never bother anyone (pg 3). Bilbo eventually loses all respect of... Show more content on

As seen in many monster stories throughout history, such as Bisclavret and Beowulf, monsters
also live in isolation. Bilbo is no different. Hobbits are inherently known to remain in the
confines of their homes at all costs, as it provides a sense of comfort and security, similar to the
role the woods play for Bisclavret. Tolkien describes, on page 4, how Bilbo s parents settled in
their hobbit hole and remained there until their deaths, which is also where Bilbo continues to
live (pg 4 5). Even after begins his journey alongside the dwarves, he longs to sit in his home by
the fire. In addition to being isolated homebodies, Hobbit s are very fond of food. It is said that
Hobbits are inclined to be fat in the stomach (pg 4). Their gluttonous tendencies plague Bilbo
through his travels as he constantly dreams of food. The outward appearance of Bilbo and his need
to live and eat separate from the world provides for a surface level analysis of Bilbo Baggins as one
of the monsters of The Hobbit.
It is important to remember that not all monsters are evil or act on malicious intent. Likewise,
even though a character isn t demonic doesn t mean he isn t still a monster. Bilbo never behaves
in an inappropriate manner, and is in fact the protagonist of The Hobbit. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen
provides two theses from his article Monster Culture that satisfies Bilbo s character. Thesis #2: The
Monster Always Escapes is perhaps the most obvious

The Growth of George Eliot s Silas Marner Essay
The Growth of Silas Marner
Silas Marner is introduced as a pallid young man, with prominent, short sighted brown eyes who
led a quiet life in the small country community, Lantern Yard. He is a skilled hand loom weaver
of exemplary life and ardent faith ; His work, friends and faith have a huge part in his life, making
him an open and honest person. Silas certainly possesses a flawed character, which we see quite
clearly in his dealings with others. From the money he made as a weaver, he only kept a small part
for himself, giving the rest to the church and to the poorer people who needed it in the evangelical
sect he belonged to.

Silas comes to the rural village community of Raveloe after his being mistreated by the people he
trusted in Lantern Yard and expelled from his church. He arouses the villagers suspicions and
fears by inviting no comer to step across his door sill . The villagers old fashioned, superstitious
beliefs have not yet been changed by new ideas and inventions. They treat him as an outsider
because they do not know anything about where he came from or about his past. Their unfriendly,
indifferent behaviour is also due to Silas own misunderstood behaviour towards them.
After helping Sally Oates, a woman who had the same illness that Silas own mother had, by
making a potion from herbs that cured her, he refused to help all the other people who turned to
him and believed he was a medicine man. Silas did not act like that out of selfishness. He could
have easily pretended to have more knowledge than he actually had and taken their money but he
truthfully told them that he did not know much about herbs and did not want to hurt them by
making a mistake or giving them the wrong herb which could be just as deadly as it could be
helpful. This caused the villagers to shut Silas out of their life and for Silas to spend fifteen years in
isolation and utter loneliness, not communicating with any

Carol, and Elana all found there could never be too many people in a profession and that growth
was essential to their industry. Kade and Nikki took the opposing view, finding there to be too
many people joining the field, and found this was particularly because, there isn t educational
requirement and as long as you have management skills your qualified. They were then asked if
there were any new developments on the horizon that could affect future opportunities. Nikki
said online shopping has made a huge impact in the way shoppers like to shop, and because
online shopping is so popular stores are not as busy anymore. Carol says the changes in the
economy affect the future opportunities. Erica said there were not really any new
developments. Kade said the rate of human travel and changes in the economy. Elana thinks the
only thing that can affect future opportunities are not continuing to learn new techniques or
tricks . the beauty industry is constantly changing and you need to know how to keep up with the
latest trends and be willing to learn them. When asked why people leave these fields: Erica and
Carol said it was because of the physicality involved. Nikki believes it is because people mostly

Why Does Rosalind s Use Of Disguise
Role playing in Shakespeare s As You Like It and Measure for Measure is an important aspect
that extends from actors playing a character to that character playing another character as the same
initial character being played. Rosalind, in As You Like It, is a heroin that disguises herself as the
male Ganymede. Duke Vincentio disguises himself as Friar Peter in Measure for Measure. The use
of these main characters in disguise drives the plot forward in ways that keep the audience
entranced and engaged in the element of disguise. Rosalind and Duke Vincentio, in disguise,
create suspense when they are nearly discovered by the wit of other characters or by being foolish
and abusing their disguise. In each play, their main use of disguise is to test... Show more content on

Lucio is the character that came the closest to knowing that the Friar was the Duke in disguise
but the text never tells if he really knew or not. Lucio provoked the Duke without mercy. In act

the Duke has used vices such as prostitutes and drink. He claims that he knows and loves and is

disguise were being tested, they both felt trapped in their disguise due to their inability to show

The Three Strikes Laws For Repeat Criminal Offenders
On an everyday basis, how is the three strikes law affecting people in New Mexico? The three

where it has been created in the efforts to reduce and prevent crimes in the states especially for
required sentencing laws for repeat criminal offenders. In 2003, more than half of the United
States had adopted the three strikes law; in addition, the law is raised when criminals have
committed their third felonies. Therefore, these laws execute a harsher penalty of a minimum of
25 years of a life sentence for criminals who have committed a crimefor the third time even though
their crimes that are not evil. There were many arguments raised when many of the criminals
were sent to prison for 25 years for a very small crime such as petty theft. Many of the people in
the United States argued that a 25 year prison is very similar to the punishment for committing
murder. In 2013, according to The Washington Times Newspaper by associated press, Santa Fe,
N.M. (AP) house majority leader Nate Gentry argues that New Mexico is the second most
dangerous state in the nation as far as violent crime goes (press). This is the result based on the

Plant Pollinators
Plants and Pollinators To begin, let me ask you something, what would it feel like not to have
flowers or colorful fruits surrounding you or if they were never there in the first place. Well we
should thank our amazing pollinators as such as the bee, hummingbird, e.t.c. We sometimes don
t realize how important they are to us and that we take them for granted. Pollinators play a hard
working role in the ecosystem and are extremely important. The reason they are such an
important factor to this world is because pollinators are the ones that create and maintain new
habitats for our ecosystems. These pollinators are also held responsible for helping the plants
grow our amazing fruits that we have today. Since from this help from pollinators, fruits and
other flowers that are pollinated can turn into world needs and help out the world in many ways.
It is said that more than 1,200 types of plants are grown around the world for food,, medicines,
spices, or even condiments. Of these, about 75% are pollinated by animals. More than one of
every three bites of food we eat or beverages we drink are directly because of pollinators.
Indirectly, pollinators ultimately play a role in the majority of what we eat and consume. You can
also make a positive difference near or around your household. So next you think of bees or
hummingbirds just know that those animals are the ones that make this world better. Plant
pollinators are amazing to this world and help every plant out there.. But

7 Wastes
Elimination of muda
Muda is a traditional general Japanese term for activity that is wasteful and doesn t add value or
is unproductive or not useful in practice or others. It is also a key concept in the Toyota
Production System (TPS) and is one of the three types of waste (Muda, Mura, Muri) that it
identifies. Mura signifies wastes due to unevenness and muri signifies wastes due to overburden.
Waste as defined by Toyota s president, Fujio Cho, is anything other than the minimum amount of
equipment, materials, parts and workers which are absolutely essential to production . The seven
types of wastes identified are
1.Overproduction Waste due to producing before customer requires or more than needed which

Over refining adds no value to the customer. Good designs should reduce analyzing, testing,
inspecting and validating. Designs should be kept as simple as possible.
Excess inventory leads to additional costs. Designs should favor just in time production. There
should be no stockpiling of raw materials and parts.
Designs have bearing on the number of defects in production. If designs can be assembled
incorrectly, chances of defects increase. Missing, unclear or incorrect designs lead to defects. High
precision designs lead to lower yields and higher defects. Design should also meet the customer
requirements. Review
People often start using lean production tools without understanding their impacts on the waste
reduction. Value stream mapping can be used to recognize the wastes in the system. Value stream
is a network of steps from beginning to end that provides the result for the customer. Some
activities add value while others do not. All non value adding activities are wastes. Tools like value
stream mapping and 5S need to be linked with waste reduction.
There is a growing trend to increase the number of wastes. The original muda concept had 7 wastes
overproduction, waiting time, transportation, inventory, over processing, motion, product defect
wastes. Because of its inherent simplicity people feed the need to improve it and add various other
wastes like complexity and unused people skills.

Abstract
This report presents an alternative energy is any energy source that from fossil fuel. We need to turn
to alternative energy in general. Firstly, we were in danger of ruining the planet s climate through
fossil fuel emissions. Furthermore, we cannot keep using fossil fuels forever that will run out
someday [1]. In addition, the problem of the current energy that we can focus was energy security
and independence viewpoint because our nation has increased its dependence on foreign oil
supplies instead of decreasing it especially from nations under the rule of a dictator or unstable
countries where human rights violations are common [2].
1.0Introduction
Nowadays, many power stations across the world burn fossil fuels to generate energy. When fossil
fuels are burned to generate energy, they lead to increased concentrations of carbon dioxide and
Sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere which contributes to global warming. However, stocks of
fossil fuels are limited and alternatives need to be found. Alternative energy sources are a popular
topic of conversion these days, as many of them believe that they can hold a promising solution to

The Economic Policies Of Supply Side Economics
Ever wondered why you have to pay those extra couple of cents at the grocery store? Or why gas
prices seem to be constantly fluctuating? The answer lies within a nation s economic policy.
Economic policy is the actions taken by a government to influence its economy. Types of economic
policy actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of
government expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. Economic policy
hopes to accomplish economic growth and a stable economy. More specifically, the federal
government hopes to accomplish stable prices, economic growth, and full employment by its
economic policy. Economists debate over three economic policies: supply side... Show more content

The methods that supply side economics uses to improve economic growth are to lower marginal
taxes and less government regulation. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan
that would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great
advocate for supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply
side economics is based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not
always work. For example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax
revenues did not rise. This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order
for the economy to be successful.
Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic
activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services.
Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great
Depression when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by
John Maynard Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. Aggregate demand is the total level of
demand for desired goods and services, which is made up of the sum of consumption expenditure,
investment expenditure, government expenditure, and net exports. Demand side economics utilizes
methods such as increasing the buying power of the lower and middle classes, which increases the
demand for more goods

Comparing and Contrasting Low-Carbohydrate and Low-Fat Diets
Comparing and Contrasting Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat Diets
The low carbohydrate diet and the low fat diet take two different approaches to achieve the same
goal of weight loss. The fundamental difference between the two diets is found in the comparison
of their nutritional recommendations. Nutritional recommendations are the foundation of both
diets, although their views on the role carbohydrates, proteins, and fats should play differs greatly.
Dieters are told that following these nutritional recommendations will promote weight loss. The
amount of weight loss achieved with either diet fluctuates over time and in the end, the results for
the two diets are similar.
Low carbohydrate diets recommend eating foods high in fat ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Low fat diets achieve weight loss by requiring dieters to eat lots of carbohydrate rich foods while
restricting fat and protein intake. Low fat diets make a distinction between simple
carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates; foods made up mostly of simple carbohydrates such
as sweets and white bread are discouraged. Complex carbohydrates, such as fruits, vegetables, and
whole grains, make up 60% of the food required for weight loss on a low fat diet. In contrast to
the Atkins diet, the low fat diet restricts fat intake to no more that 25% of total calories. The
theory is that diets low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates help to promote weight loss by
not contributing to existing fat stores and by encouraging the body to utilize those fat stores
through calorie restrictions, based on the amount of calories you burn each day. To figure out ideal
calorie consumption dieters can use a formula provided by the American Heart Association (AHA);
this formula uses the dieter s current weight to determine the ideal calorie intake for weight loss. In
contrast to the Atkins diet, the low fat diet dictates what kinds of fat and protein are best. The low
fat diet recommends that fat, when eaten, be unsaturated and preferably healthful, such as fish or
flax oil. It also limits protein intake to legumes and lean meat, such as chicken and fish. Although

Analysis Of The Play Murder At The Mic
When an arrogant musician is killed on stage everyone becomes a suspect.
STORY COMMENTS
MURDER AT THE MIC presents as a classic murder mystery with the ultimate question: who did
it? Everyone loves a good mystery. The goal is clear and the stakes are fairly high. The play
offers a cast of offbeat characters, betrayal, secrets, a twist, and a very ironic and delightful ending.
There s definitely a lot to like about the play, but with that said, there s room for additional
development.
The opening introduces most of the core characters. Greg is clearly the main character that the play
centers on. Greg s first words shitty nicely conveys his personality. Essentially, Greg is supposed to
be a shitty guy. He seems to have little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of the video camera works well too. There s a nice cat and mouse exchange between the
detective and the usual suspects.
The reveal that the detective is really the video guy makes for a good twist that the audience
doesn t see coming. However, consider the idea that once his wig falls off and they realize who
the detective really he, that they try to turn the tables on Hickman and accuse him of being the
person sabotaging the switch and killing Greg. Thus, it s at this point that he makes the reveal that
Greg is still alive.
When Greg is revealed to be alive make sure he s condensing to each of the other characters to
make the delightful ending twist work even more effectively when they all conspire to kill him.
The ending is a lot of fun, but with that said, the overall humor could be elevated. It s not the type
of play that has laugh out loud moments. The tone is a bit ambiguous. Prior to the death, the tone
feels dramatic. However, as the play progresses, it feels more like a dark comedy, which is very
fitting for this type of mystery. While humor is subjective, stronger dark comedy with wittier lines
of dialogue would really make this play shine.
Greg feels cocky and entitled. As mentioned, there s room to enhance this. His motivation for the
ruse feels a bit unclear. He says it s for a music video.
This doesn t feel like a strong enough motivation. One wonders if he should tell the

These trains were lubricated with a mix of oil and powdered graphite so that the trains parts could be lubricated properly. The problem with Elijah s first patent is that with the new mix of graphite the lubricator would clog up. This all changed in April of 1915 when he received a patent for a new and improved lubricator in which he called Locomotive Lubricator with this patent he stated that it permitted the use of graphite without clogging. Hayden Cites a railroad superintendent states We have found the McCoy Graphite Lubricator to be of considerable assistance in lubrication of locomotives equipped with superheaters. There is a decided advantage in better lubrication and reduction of wear in valves and piston rings, and as a well lubricated engine is more economical in the use of fuel, there is unquestionably a saving in fuel. • 5. Ophelia Character Analysis In the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius, is seen as a fair maiden who wants her love with Hamlet to be eternal. Due to the many warnings from her father Polonius and her brother Laertes, she succumbs to her father s wishes and plays the role of a good daughter, thus betraying Hamlet. Previously in the play where Hamlet gives his soliloquy on life and death, Ophelia has been ordered to break off her relationship with Hamlet while Polonius eavesdrops to prove that Hamlet has truly gone mad. As a result of Hamlet s supposed madness and Ophelia s docile character during the confrontation, both of their fragile hearts shatter and Ophelia begins her dark descent into madness, leading to her eventual death. Throughout acts one and two of the play, Ophelia in Hamlet s eyes is seen as one of the only fair and trustworthy outliers in the array of deception. After his soliloquy about life and death with its dark and apathetic tone, there is a shift when Ophelia is in his presence. As Hamlet realizes his beloved is approaching, he commands himself, Soft you now! to make sure Ophelia does not hear what he is saying as if not to corrupt this beauty from heaven (Shakespeare III.i.86). His mood perks up and the tone of his words become more endearing when he calls her a Nymph (III.i.87). Shakespeare s diction here further builds upon how the audience sees their relationship. Although to some scientist, human embryos are not considered to be a human at that point because they cannot feel pain ; on the contrary, religious groups believe that a human embryo should have the same human rights as a live human. The picture above helps show the controversy between the two sides. Scientist believe that stem cell research should be allowed if the stem cells are cultured within the first trimester (Lazar). They believe this because during the first trimester, the embryo is just a small cluster of cells. It is not affected by the outside environment, it does not react to pain; in addition, it also does not react to pleasure. The pros of Stem Cell Research and Treatment are never ending. There is an account of two women being completely blind, but due to stem cell research, their sight was repaired. Another case is that of a ninety five year old woman who was taken off medication and her health somewhat restored due to the use of stem cells. Doctors were able to inject stem cells into her heart and they took the shape of heart neurons. Technical difficulties such as those involving AV equipment, internet connectivity and sound systems may occur. Causes include people tripping over wires, faulty equipment, faulty electrical connections, or missing components. In the event of a limited site team and the lack of additional equipment, it becomes necessary to move to Plan B. Check immediately to see if the venue offers any technical assistance, support, or back up equipment. It is important to consider this, even if it means incurring expenses. If necessary, accept the financial loss if it means continuation of the event and preserving customer satisfaction. It is important to do a quick troubleshoot to determine that the problem truly is what you are assuming it is. Test equipment in other power outlets, for example, to rule out the possibility that the outlet is the problem instead of the equipment. If in fact the power source is the problem, equipment can quickly be moved to another location with adequate power. If a wire or cord is dysfunctional or damaged, seek other equipment for a possible quick swap. If that equipment is also in use, determine which event process is most critical and utilize the power cord there first. Once a root problem has been determined and if no other alternatives are available on site, consider sending a team member assigned to a non essential task to retrieve the additional equipment. Nothing of this process indicates any toxicity in women, or any effect on them outside of the physical. It is a monthly biological cycle that occurs in fertile women to prepare for the possibility of conception, and any negative view towards it or the women experiencing it has its source in ignorance, fear, or in the words of books written thousands of years before anyone even had an inkling of how menstruation works. • 25. Amadeus, the Movie Essay Amadeus begins with an attempted suicide by composer Antonio Salieri, who is overcome with guilt about supposedly killing Mozart. His life is saved by his aids and he is sent to what looks like a mental hospital, where a priest is sent to council him. The whole story is told through the eyes of Salieri on his death bed, confessing to his priest. The whole movie takes place in Vienna, Austria. Besides the first few scenes where Mozart is seen as a child, the story begins in 1782 when Mozart is the age of 26; the story being told by Salieri takes place around 1825, near his death. Constanze Mozart, played by Elizabeth Berridge, is the wife of Mozart. She is by far the most sensible in the relationship. Throughout the whole movie she is concerned of Mozart s frivolous spending and at some points, refusal to do work that really pays. She is also extremely concerned of Mozart s physical and mental well being. She is also the only one who can stand up to Mozart s father for him, calling him lazy and unappreciative. I was much more fond of the symphony music played by Mozart, although there was not much featured in the movie. I am not a big fan of Opera s to begin with, so I am a little biased when judging them. I found Don Giovanni and the Opera written alongside Salieri more preferential; there was more substance and feeling in those. The opera Figaro to be extremely boring; apparently so did Joseph II. It was extremely slow with the same dark melody the whole piece. I most enjoyed the first Opera commissioned by Emperor Joseph II. The whole piece was brilliantly put together, I can t imagine how someone could put all those notes together and make is sound like it did. It reminds me of listening to Jimi Hendrix on the guitar, or Bach on the Harpsichord. Mozart was an extremely childish, immature person; yet one of the most talented musicians of all time. ... • 26. Essay On Descartes Mind And Body Dualism In what sense (if any) is it true that the mind is better known than the body? Discuss the implications of your answer. INTRODUCTION Descartes Meditations on First Philosophy (1641) is generally considered to be the starting point of Western Philosophy. SUMMARY OF THE MEDIATIONS On of the most lasting and notable legacies of Descartes philosophy is mind body dualism, which may interpreted simply as distinction of mind and body. Descartes argues that the nature of mind that may be understood as thinking, doubting, willing ( thinking thing ) is totally distinguished from the body nature ( non thinking thing ). It is necessary to identify that Descartes uses the concept of mind to refer to the consciousness, thinking self. The Second Mediations is subtitled by The nature of human mind and how its better known than the body proves that thinking thing , ability of thinking and arguing is the only true faculty. This argument derives from the end of the First Mediation, where he turns all knowledge into questions and it s impossible to be certain of anything. Poe s The Man of the Crowd As a Satire of the Penny Press In the mid nineteenth century , the penny newspaper could be found on almost every American urban street corner. These penny papers, as they were popularly called, provided the American people for the first time in history with informative articles about local city events, incidents, and, more importantly, inner city crime. These penny rags revealed an entirely new world to the American citizens; they were informed for the first time of the many heinous crimes and murders that occurred right in the vicinity of their own houses. At a time when America was first being introduced to such local injustices, it is quite understandable that penny papers claiming to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In hopes of spotting such profitable incidents, penny press journalists were always on the look out for anything suspicious and anything worthy of being sensationalized. Interestingly, in his short story, The Man of the Crowd, Edgar Allan Poe includes a first person narrator who also seems to be on the look out for anything out of the ordinary. While he may not reveal himself as a penny journalist, this narrator certainly plays the part of one as he singles out an old man making a devious gesture in the crowd and begins to speculate about his possible criminal intentions. Like a nosy penny tabloid reporter hungry for a juicy lead, the narrator follows the old man into the night, hoping, if not to catch him in an act of crime, then to fit his behaviors into the mold of criminality. Interestingly, while the old man does in fact turn out to be nothing more than an innocent wanderer of the streets, the narrator still proceeds to formulate his own exaggerated conclusions about the old man s supposed criminal intentions. By setting the first person narrator up as the stereotypical penny journalist and then making the very target of his exaggeration nothing more than an innocent, commonplace man of the crowd, it can be argued that Poe is in fact mocking the penny press for their tendency to inflate the actions of innocent people into ... The instability created in Europe by World War I set the stage for another international conflict World War II, which broke out two decades later and proved to be even more devastating. In February of 1942, Johnston was able to present the language to the commanders of the Marine Corps and the idea impressed them, so that they allowed Johnston to start a Navajo Code Talker Test Program. Later in April, Johnston and the Marine Corps commanders went to the reservation and recruited thirty men (Aaseng 23). The men that were recruited marked the start of the pilot program. Of the first thirty men who joined the program, only twenty nine completed it and went to help the war effort. The two men that had dropped out were not qualified for service as code talkers for the Marine Corps (Paul 75). This group of the twenty nine Navajo men came to be called the original twenty nine. The Navajo men that were recruited often lacked birth certificates so it was impossible for the Marine Corps to verify ages, but after the war it was discovered that some recruits were as young as fifteen and some were as old as thirty five (Paul 14). Some companies want to bring a fully autonomous car to reality, which wouldn t need any human interaction to drive the car, while other ones are interested in driverless cars, which need humans to drive them. Both autonomous and driverless concepts give cars more control over themselves, and both aim to give more comfort for mankind, thus providing an easier life for drivers and passengers, but the idea of an autonomous car on the roads raises some questions about the safety of it and the responsibility over a car like this. A driverless car can have most of the autonomous features, it just needs someone to drive it, and then the control would also be from a person that would be more watchful and take responsibilities over the car. Ford is going to launch an autonomous car. The company already has a semi autonomous one in market, the Fusion hybrid, and they say that the car is automated, but by automated they mean that it is capable of automated operation under the supervision of a human driver. • 33. Absurdity In The Stranger By Albert Camus In the book The Stranger, by Albert Camus, the use of absurdity is at a great extent. Throughout the book, Camus gives plenty of absurd scenarios that are carried out by the characters. This essay will point out many of the parts from the book which are great examples of this topic. In the beginning of the book, the main character and narrator, Meursault, is notified that his mother has passed away. She lived in an old people s home because she was sick and Meursault could not afford to take care of her. The absurdpart about this event, is the fact that Meursault did not even shed a tear at his own mother s funeral. Another ridiculous part is that he did not even know her age! He was asked by one of the undertakers, Was she old? And Meursault replied, Fairly, then after stating, because I didn t know the exact number, (p.16). It is completely absurd to not know your own mother s age. Meursault also didn t want to look at his mother in the casket. Instead, he drank coffee and smoked during the funeral. That is purely absurd to do at one s own mother s funeral. Another example of absurdity in the book, The Stranger, would be Meursault s feelings towards his girlfriend, Marie. They have a very intimate relationship and Marie even tells Meursault that she loves him. However, when Marie asked if he loved her back, he replied that he did not. As strong and intimate their relationship is, it is almost absurd for Meursault to say that he doesn t love her. He even fantasizes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The U.S. Government used treaties as a way to displace Native Americans from their tribal lands, a mechanism that was strengthened with the Removal Act of 1830. In cases where this strategy failed, the government sometimes violated both treaties and Supreme Court rulings to ensure the spread of Americans westward across the continent. As the 19th century began, many Americans poured into the backcountry of the South and began moving toward and into what would later become the states of Alabama and Mississippi. Since Indian tribes living there appeared to be the main obstacle to westward expansion, white settlers motioned for the federal government to displace them. This phenomenon was described by authors Robert V. Remini, in his article Andrew JacksonVersus the CherokeeNation , and Chief John Ross, in his letter To the Senate and House of Representatives . They express the views of Andrew Jackson and the Cherokee Indians respectively. Author Chief John Ross wrote a letter to the senate in protest of the treaty of New Echota. It is largely acknowledged by historians that, while it is difficult to be definitive in the meaning of chivalry with Maurice Keen believing it to be a word elusive of definition it came to denote the culture of a martial estate which regarded war as its hereditary profession . Thus, it could be considered that the violence of war had large implications on what people began to perceive to be chivalry. Additionally, the focus on violence such as the participating in tournaments and jousts further emphasises the close link between carrying out violent acts and the idea that a knight was being chivalrous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The historian Richard Kaeuper notes that prowess being crucial to honor may have contributed as much to the problem of violence as it provided a solution . Therefore, this appears to convey why the concept of chivalry began to be associated with violence and warfare as knights, in the pursuit of honor, became reliant on violence and battle to prove their aptitude. This idea is supported by a medieval knight Sir John Chandos, who stated that men brought up for martial calling cannot live without war and do not know how to . Maurice Keen argues that chivalry was quintessentially bellicose as it presented those who fought has having a pinnacle of honor . As a result, the use of force by knights as a way of denoting their gallantry led to the belief that violence was intrinsic to the notion of chivalry. Furthermore, within the medieval period there was the development of certain traditions and rewards associated with the concept of chivalry. The partaking in tournaments and jousting is argued by Keen to have been a step on the scale of chivalrous perfection . In these activities acts of violence were glorified and those who were successful were rewarded, thus endorsing and entrenching the belief that violence and success in war were the main premises on which chivalry was based. Types of economic policy actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of government expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. The methods that supply side economics uses to improve economic growth are to lower marginal taxes and less government regulation. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan that would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great advocate for supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply side economics is based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not always work. For example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax revenues did not rise. This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order for the economy to be successful. Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services. Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great Depression when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by John Maynard Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Low fat diets achieve weight loss by requiring dieters to eat lots of carbohydrate rich foods while restricting fat and protein intake. Low fat diets make a distinction between simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates; foods made up mostly of simple carbohydrates such as sweets and white bread are discouraged. Complex carbohydrates, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, make up 60% of the food required for weight loss on a low fat diet. In contrast to the Atkins diet, the low fat diet restricts fat intake to no more that 25% of total calories. The theory is that diets low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates help to promote weight loss by not contributing to existing fat stores and by encouraging the body to utilize those fat stores through calorie restrictions, based on the amount of calories you burn each day.
