Augmented reality (AR) enhances the real world by superimposing computer-generated images over it. There are several types of AR: marker-based AR uses visual markers to link content; location-based AR provides data based on location detected by GPS and compass; outlining AR detects objects in poor visibility and outlines them; projection-based AR projects light onto surfaces for interaction; and superimposition-based AR recognizes objects and replaces or augments the original view. AR has applications in games, maps, object recognition, and education.
