2. Question 1-Which way do you listen to music?
• From the survey results I conducted, I
discovered that people listen to music
on streaming websites the most with
the radio coming in a close second.
This may be because people always
have access toYouTube and so find it
easier and cheaper to listen to music
off the internet rather than buying a
CD or buying a digital copy on iTunes.
I asked this question so I could have an
idea of what “free extra” I would giveaway
on my cover page

3. Question 2- Do you read music magazines?
• 65% of the people who participated in the poll do not read music magazines
however, out of the 35% who do, rock is the most popular (70%).
• Music is considered a big part of a 19-30 year olds life however they are not
interested in music magazines due to them being expensive and also due
to technology and the internet. I have taken this into consideration and
decided that I will price my magazine cheaper than competitors like
Kerrang to target that specific age group

4. Question 3- How many hours a day do you
spend listening to music?
• 50% of people listen to music 1-2 hours a day
• 50%% of people listen to music 3-6 hours a day

5. Question 4-Which music magazine are you
likely to read?
• Using secondary research from back in
2010 which I found on the internet.This
may not be accurate for this year
however it gives me an idea of what has
changed and what is popular. I have
found out through research that the
rock genre is becoming more and more
popular each year with rock album unit
sales being 32.3% with pop being the
only genre ahead with 34.9%.

6. Question 5-What Genre of music do you listen
to?
• Another piece of secondary research which I found
online was research showing that the rock genre
has the highest popularity out of all the genres
researched. By having this chart, it allows me to
see what other genres the audience listen to and
so I can add references into my magazine while
not breaking the rock genre convention by
including other genres but instead looking at
what those genres do to gain an audience and try
to incorporate it into my magazine.

7. Evaluation
• Overall, what I have discovered from my research is that my target audience
are less focused on physical copies of albums and songs and are more
focused on streaming them from the internet where its cheaper and easily
accessible.
