The document summarizes the results of a survey conducted to determine the target audience and preferences for a magazine about electronic music. The survey found that the audience would mainly be male and in the survey creator's age group. It also found that drum and bass, dubstep, and donk were the most popular genres of electronic music. Most respondents said they would buy a monthly issue of the magazine and wanted to learn more about electronic music.

Target audience gender, age and music preferences for electronic music magazine
1. My first question was to find out the gender split of my target
audience. As you can see, this type of magazine would attract a
mainly male audience.
2. Next up was to find out the age range of my target audience.
Although it came out as a massive majority in my age group,
as I predicted, there were some older fans.
3. Now that I had an idea of the people taking the
survey, I went on to find out about there preferred
kind of electronic music. As predicted, drum and bass
and dubstep came out as the shared favourite along
with surprise outsider; Donk. The other responses
consisted of sub-genres.
4. Because the survey is to find out about peoples opinions of a
music magazine, I had to find out how often they were willing
they were to buy a specialist magazine. Half of the people who
took the survey said they would buy a monthly.
5. To get a deeper understanding of peoples
knowledge I asked them how much they thought
they knew so I could plan how much info the
magazine needed. 14/17 said they would like to
learn more.
6. I asked for their location as a lot of electronic music stemmed from the
UK and I was interested to see how it had spread. The other answers
were telling me counties and states they were from.
7. I asked about the amount of live music they did or didn't see so I
knew how much live music to feature. Most people didn’t see live
shows but said they wanted to.
8. This was an interesting one. In electronic music there are a lot of
free production programmes that means lots of people can get
involved at all levels. This would let me know how many people
made this kind of music for fun or hobby. Predictably, most
didn’t but there was still a fair few who did.
9. I also asked how people listen to their music as the internet is
playing a huge part in the modern music industry. Surprisingly, the
majority of people paid for their music, followed closely by those
who downloaded it for free.
10. Finally, I wanted to know how long people had been into this
kind of music so I knew what kind of content to include. I
didn’t know whether people would be clued in with old school
DJs or more into modern producers.
