Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequently diagnosed cardiac rhythm disorder. It affecting 2.5 million people in the United States, and may be associated with an increased risk for death, congestive heart failure, and stroke. Our cardiac electrophysiologist will review the latest treatment options for patients with AF, including recent advances in pharmacologic therapy to keep patients heart rhythms normal. He also will discuss catheter ablation to eliminate sources of AF and anticoagulation to prevent thromboembolic strokes. Presented by Summit Medical Group cardiologist, Roy Sauberman, MD, FACC
Atrial fibrillation (afib) is a heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia). It increases your risk of having a stroke and can affect your quality of life. There are many treatment options for patients with atrial fibrillation (afib).
In order to decrease the burden of the symptoms from afib, we can use medications or procedures - catheter ablation.
Patients with afib have a 5 fold higher risk of having a stroke. Traditionally blood thinners are used to decrease that risk. A new option available as an alternative to blood thinners is the Watchman left atrial appendage closure device.
All You Need to Know About Atrial FibrillationSummit Health
Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia,
particularly as people age. It can cause stroke,
heart failure, and many symptoms. There are
very effective therapies today, including
anticoagulants and catheter ablation.
Substance Overview: Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid, is a common medication used to reduce pain, fever, and inflammation. However, in high doses, it can lead to toxicity known as salicylate poisoning.
Clinical Findings: Symptoms of aspirin toxicity may include tinnitus (ringing in the ears), hyperventilation, nausea, vomiting, and confusion. In severe cases, it can cause respiratory alkalosis and metabolic acidosis.
Laboratory Tests: Detection of aspirin toxicity involves measuring blood salicylate levels. Other tests may include arterial blood gases, electrolytes, and renal function to assess the severity of poisoning.
Treatment: Management includes activated charcoal if ingestion is recent, intravenous fluids, electrolyte correction, and in severe cases, hemodialysis to remove salicylates from the blood.
Prevention: Preventing aspirin toxicity involves using the medication as directed, keeping it out of reach of children, and being aware of its presence in many over-the-counter products.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
