AtlasCamp 2015: Damn you Facebook - Raising the bar in SaaSAtlassian
Greg Warden, Atlassian
Facebook (and others) have raised the bar on what people expect in SaaS – performance, availability, dev-speed. Unfortunately a lot of what we learned as on-premises server developers needs to be un-learned to get to this level. In this talk we'll explore some of the learnings Atlassian has had on its journey from World Class server software to proper SaaS.
AtlasCamp 2015: Getting your Connect add-on over the finish lineAtlassian
Ralph Whitbeck
Moving from a server side plugin to a cloud add-on requires a different level of skills. Developer Evangelist for the Atlassian Ecosystem, Ralph Whitbeck, will share the common challenges developers face when shifting to the cloud, and show how you can successfully get your connect add-on over the finish line.

The Big Migration: How Cerner Moved From Confluence 3.5 to 5.8Atlassian
Cerner uses Confluence for just about everything. To support all of these use cases they created loads of custom features and plugins. With a focus on customization, upgrades fell behind. By the time Confluence 5.8 was released they had a lot of work to do to upgrade.
With the help of a Technical Account Manager, and partnering with Comalatech they were able to upgrade with no downtime. This helped them create a disaster recovery instance, which is a key component for controlled documentation. With their upgrade, they added the ability to go through a certified approval process with reporting capability.
Learn how they made the great leap with minimal impact on users.

Expecto Performa! The Magic and Reality of Performance TuningAtlassian
In the enterprise there are rarely simple solutions to highly nuanced problems that satisfy all needs. Several customers might each ask "How do I make Jira/Confluence faster?" and each require a different answer. Using this example, this talk will pick apart the inputs, outputs, concerns, and realities of answering a short question with a long answer. We'll then discuss real-world examples from our own internal instances, to give you a taste of the process we've gone through to solve our own performance problems, and to show why there is no simple playbook; "it depends" on a lot! The key takeaways are:
* The importance of having a shared definition of performance
* The importance of having agreed-upon priorities, including what isn't important
* The importance of measuring (allthethings) and understanding them
* The thing you think is the problem might not be the problem, and vice versa.
* The real world and the ideal world tend to look nothing alike!
Managing Application Lifecycle using Jira and Bitbucket Cloud and AWS ToolingAtlassian
Managing the lifecycle of an application can seem like a challenging process. However, things aren't always as challenging as they can seem. With the right combination of tools and services, you can streamline the entire process, allowing you to increase productivity, identify issues quickly and reduce manual processes. All of which can increase the frequency of releases and ensure you're able to deliver on customer needs more quickly. In this session we'll show you how to leverage Atlassian tools, like Jira and Bitbucket Cloud, to manage the full SDLC for applications built and hosted in AWS cloud. You'll learn how to go from new feature request through to release, tracking issues the entire way.
Inside Atlassian: Focusing on Customer Outcomes in Spite of ComplexityAtlassian
How familiar does this scenario sound?
Despite their best efforts, product managers are micro-managing too many features in development, meanwhile developers are waiting on designers. Support engineers aren't sure what shipped this week, and new features can't be released because tech writers weren't aware of them until they were nearly completed. The exec team is eager to learn how the last features are affecting new user uptake, but it's not up to expectations because marketing never understood who it was for, or why it was built.
Join us for a peek behind-the-scenes at Atlassian. And learn how we juggle all of these efforts across the DevOps cycle, and validate features early and often—all while focusing on delivering real customer value.
Focus, Governance, and Innovation: How LinkedIn Scaled to 3M Jira Issues and ...Atlassian
LinkedIn runs the world's largest professional community with 500M worldwide members, 10M active jobs, 9M companies and 100k articles published weekly. A stable and scalable Jira deployment was essential in the journey to meeting these milestones. Accommodating 2.5 million hits a day on a Jira instance with 3 million issues demands focus, governance, and innovation. The Jira team at LinkedIn operationalized a single deployment of Jira to support a multitude of use cases across LinkedIn. Join Arnie and Dan to hear how they grew Jira to meet the aggressive demands of a hyper growth company.
Saving Money by Optimizing Your Cloud Add-On InfrastructureAtlassian
People love the freedom and control that comes with hosting an add-on in the cloud, but financially speaking, that freedom doesn't come for free. You'll end up paying for your servers whether they serve requests or not, and of course, someone is needed to monitor and upgrade these servers.
In this talk, we will cover best practices on how to get a simple and inexpensive cloud add-on going for Hipchat, Bitbucket, Confluence and JIRA without all the overhead of running your own servers. We'll cover serverless technologies like AWS Lambda, static frontends, and how you can use JIRA and Confluence to host your add-on data.

This initiative prompted Tempo to take the next step in its evolution to become a more customizable and flexible solution that not only integrates seamlessly with JIRA, but also establishes its own independent identity. The migration from Atlassian's cloud to their own cloud forced Tempo to completely review and greatly improve the process of their software delivery.
This talk will cover the process of moving Tempo’s technology out of a tightly coupled design into a more portable and scalable architecture while delivering feature parity with their server customers. You'll hear the story from the very beginning: from researching the best way to implement their products in the cloud, to architectural decisions, to scaling and operations. You'll walk away understanding what such a move can mean for products, company culture, and future growth.

Platform Requirements for CI/CD Success—and the Enterprises Leading the WayVMware Tanzu
All enterprises want to increase the speed of software delivery to get new products to market faster. The means for achieving this is often through the practice of continuous integration/continuous delivery. But speed alone isn’t enough—teams also require the ability to pivot when conditions change. They must ensure their software is stable and reliable, and be able to roll out patches and other security measures quickly and at scale.
A cloud-native platform coupled with test-driven development and CI/CD practices can help make this a reality. In this webinar, 451 Research’s Jay Lyman presents the results of his research into cloud-native platform requirements for enterprise CI/CD and DevOps success. Pivotal’s James Ma joins Lyman to discuss best practices from DevOps teams charged with running and managing cloud-native platforms, including applying CI/CD to the platform itself.

Creating Inclusive Experiences: Balancing Personality and Accessibility in UX...Atlassian
The words we choose have the power to include or alienate our users. The reality is that for many, English is spoken as a second language. And unless you're going to localize your product for those major non-English speaking markets, you'll need to thoughtfully create content that is accessible to a larger audience.
But how do we create products that maintain a sense of personality without isolating a wide audience of non-native speakers?
Join Atlassian Content Designer, Roana Bilia, as she walks you through why thoughtful, inclusive content, is key to creating well-designed user experiences. You'll walk away with foundational principles for good UX copy when optimizing your product UI, a few quick wins that you as creators and developers can incorporate into your next products, as well as a set of mistakes to avoid that companies—including Atlassian—have made, which prioritized native speakers but isolated non-native speakers.
Beyond Diversity: A Guide to Building Balanced TeamsAtlassian
We hear it all the time, and we get it. Diversity and inclusion are important! But isn't it an HR problem? HR may be able to help with diversity but inclusion or creating an inclusive environment is everyone's responsibility. So how do we create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and engages and supports everyone? Isabel Nyo will be sharing best practices and lessons she has learned along the way. She will also be sharing her experience as a minority, a female technical leader, in the technology industry.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
