Key takeaways:
- Understand what makes up the DNA of Conversational IVR
- Best Practices to enhance customer experience with Conversational IVR
- Use cases to start your Conversational IVR journey for AI enabled contact centers
- How Kore.ai Platform helps enterprises augment AI to build best-in-class Conversational IVR

Let’s face it, your customer service reps are handling too many repetitive, linear interactions that could be easily automated, but the limitations of your touchtone IVR means you are unable to expand self-service capabilities to automate more. Hear how IVA (intelligent virtual assistants) powered by advanced speech recognition and natural language processing are replacing the traditional IVR with “How can I help you today,” instead of “Press 1” and helping customers self-serve common requests.
This is my Architecture to prevent Cloud Bill ShockDaniel Zivkovic
“Fail Fast and Learn Fast” with Cloud is a bad idea because Cloud overall is like a double-edged sword: when used correctly, it can be of great use, but it can be lethal if misused. In this meetup, Sudeep Chauha - founder of the ToMilkieWay.com shared his “near business death” experience after a GCP experiment ended up with a $72,000 bill shock.
Infinite Recursions are a common problem, so this talk is useful to developers from any public Cloud. Sudeep explained the mistakes he made, and the lessons he learned - so the rest of us can avoid similar near-Bankruptcy incidents. Thank you, Sudeep!

The movie The Matrix made it clear: The Architect is powerful. How to be(come) and IT architect? What do you do, what do you need to know, is it fun and why? Using real world examples, core principles and useful tools, this session introduces the subtle art of designing and realizing flexible IT architectures. Taking a step back to get and create an overview, frequently asking why to get to the real intention, bringing aspects such as cost, scale, time and change and business strategy into the design and bridging the gap between business owners, process managers and technical specialists. One way to define the responsibility of an IT architect. In this session, we will discuss what is expected of the architect and what you need to do for that and what you could use to get it done. How do you get started as an architect, how to grow in that role? We discuss a number of real life architectural challenges and solution design. And discuss a number of architecture principles, patterns, and powers to apply. Never stop programming – but perhaps rise to the architecture challenge too.

Bringing AI to the edge on-premises Azure Cognitive Services using Docker con...Luis Beltran
Azure Cognitive Services allow developers to build powerful AI-based solutions, enabling different capabilities in our software: vision. speech, search, text analytics, language understanding, and much more. Basically, the model is already built by Microsoft, you just need to do an API call to the Azure cloud and the service retrieves a result. For instance, you send a message and the Text Analytics API returns its sentiment score.
However, there might be cases in which our customers need a local, non-cloud AI solution (either because of limited Internet access or data compliance). This is now possible thanks to the latest update of Azure Cognitive Services, which offers containerization support. Using containers, we can still deliver ML-driven solutions while keeping the data in-house.
In this talk, we'll explore what it takes to configure and use containers in Azure Cognitive Services. Demos will be showcased as well for local Face and Text Cognitive Services.

"API Design: From User Need to Finished Spec" by Andrew Jordan, ex-Product @T...TheFamily
Heard of Twilio? It's the $2.4B cloud communications company behind 2016's hottest IPO.
You use it everyday without knowing it. The text message saying your Uber arrived? Twilio sent it. When you lose your Netflix password? They have you covered.
Considered as one of the most innovative & developer-friendly company out there today, if there's something they got right it's the product!
We were glad to have Andrew Jordan, ex-Product Manager and early employee at Twilio share his experience on stage! In this talk, Jordan explains API design and principles, covering how to identify a good opportunity for an API, how to write a well defined API spec and how to gather user feedback and iterate on APIs.
Before quitting his job to travel, spent the last five years designing, building, and selling APIs at Twilio. The last product he shipped was a speech recognition API for the company's voice product. Once he's done traveling, he plans to look into new ideas around speech processing and insurance.
Pragmatic approach to Microservice Architecture: Role of MiddlewareAsanka Abeysinghe
Microservice Architecture (MSA) is emerging as a popular architecture pattern in today’s agile enterprise. Its iterative architecture and development methodologies are particularly attracting the interest of architects who need continuous delivery to fulfil business needs.
But, is every characteristics of MSA new or even pragmatic? Asanka Abeysinghe, vice president of solutions architecture at WSO2, will provide insights into MSA requirements from real-world examples and provide details of an architect friendly pragmatic approach for this architecture pattern.
Middleware plays a key role in successful MSA-based implementations. Using the correct middleware capabilities enable enterprises to fully leverage advantages provided by MSA, and ensures ease of implementation and faster time to market.
Asanka will explain essential middleware capabilities required to resolve the MSA puzzle, where you can also utilize supportive technologies such as Continuous Integration (CI), containerization and Container as a Service (CaaS).

WSO2Con USA 2017: Geospatial Big Data – Location Intelligence in Digital Tran...WSO2
Location plays a huge role in big data analytics which in turn powers new and existing digital businesses. From Uber-like participatory businesses to government-led fleet and transport management, location is a differentiator that is ubiquitous and a core part of digital transformation.
This session looks at how location data can be leveraged for digital transformation – be it for a new disruptive digital business or for an existing business looking to leverage existing data for newer business opportunities. For instance, Internet of Things and mobile devices usually have a location parameter associated with the device which in turn can be used by the analytics engine to figure out the most optimal route. This data has to be overlaid and integrated with external spatial systems and shared with stakeholders via spatial APIs to encourage participatory business models. Even security can have a spatial aspect to it. We will look at some interesting theories, examples and business + technical ideas. This is the importance of WHERE, NOW!

Intro to Vertex AI, unified MLOps platform for Data Scientists & ML EngineersDaniel Zivkovic
#MLOps is a hot buzzword, just like #DevOps before it. It sparked a gold rush for software vendors, so it's hard to choose the best tool for your needs. Vertex AI is a unified MLOps platform for the entire #AI #workflow on #GoogleCloud. It is the 3rd iteration of the Google Cloud #ML platform (since its original launch), and we think they did it right (this time).
That's why #ServerlessTO invited 2 AI/ML gurus from #GCP (Jarek Kazmierczak & Brian Kang) to introduce the #VertexAI you to.

Simpler, faster, cheaper Enterprise Apps using only Spring Boot on GCPDaniel Zivkovic
Enterprises traditionally think of App Platforms as PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) or Red Hat OpenShift. In reality, public Clouds have evolved into Application Platforms - especially when using Managed Services & Serverless.
• If you are an IT Executive under increased pressure to cut costs, see how better Technology Stack choices – not layoffs or pay cuts, can reduce IT costs + increase business agility (while avoiding vendor lock-in):
• If you are a Developer lost in the sea of the Cloud Computing choices, watch Ray Tsang (Java Champion from GCP) live-code, and you will walk away Cloud-Native :)
See how to stop cannibalization of IT by deploying your good ol' Java Spring Boot Apps directly to Google Cloud Platform - no Servers/PCF/OpenShift/Kubernetes to manage, nor to limit your creativity: https://youtu.be/2B0wWagE0dc

Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code AnalysisAftab Hussain
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.

Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.

In 2015, I used to write extensions for Joomla, WordPress, phpBB3, etc and I didn't get rich from it but it did have 63K downloads (powered possible tens of thousands of websites).
We describe the deployment and use of Globus Compute for remote computation. This content is aimed at researchers who wish to compute on remote resources using a unified programming interface, as well as system administrators who will deploy and operate Globus Compute services on their research computing infrastructure.

Need for Speed: Removing speed bumps from your Symfony projects ⚡️Łukasz Chruściel
No one wants their application to drag like a car stuck in the slow lane! Yet it’s all too common to encounter bumpy, pothole-filled solutions that slow the speed of any application. Symfony apps are not an exception.
In this talk, I will take you for a spin around the performance racetrack. We’ll explore common pitfalls - those hidden potholes on your application that can cause unexpected slowdowns. Learn how to spot these performance bumps early, and more importantly, how to navigate around them to keep your application running at top speed.
We will focus in particular on tuning your engine at the application level, making the right adjustments to ensure that your system responds like a well-oiled, high-performance race car.
First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.

#4 Achieve agility NOT
by “sprinting” faster
(like in Scrum), but
working smarter (by
using bigger building
blocks and less Ops)
4. Disconnect between IT & Business needs
4
How to help companies accelerate?
Technology is not the point => We are here to create Value
Adopting Serverless Mindset allowed us to shift the focus from “pimping
up our cars” (infrastructure/code), towards “driving” (the business) forward.

5. Let’s bridge the Businesses & IT Gap by:
5
1. bringing more Business-focused
topics (like one today) to educate,
2. offering free Second Opinions on
Application/Data Architecture
modernization (to Businesses),
3. offering for-fee Consulting service
(regardless of how short they are),
4. connecting Cloud enthusiasts from
the Community with Employers
