Big data and social media can provide libraries insights into their users and communities. Analyzing trends on platforms like Google Trends, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat can help answer questions like who the users are, what they are reading or interested in, and what issues they are passionate about. By measuring social media and other online data, libraries can gain a rich understanding of patrons and identify patterns to inform future strategies and ensure they remain relevant.
The document summarizes a presentation given by Hugh Davis on how the web has changed teaching and learning. Some key points made include:
- The web has evolved from a read-only platform to a read-write platform with user-generated content and social aspects.
- Teaching has moved from traditional lectures to incorporating more online content and active learning approaches. Learning has become more self-directed with personal learning networks and environments.
- MOOCs are discussed as a current development that could impact higher education through increasing access but also generating data to improve adaptive learning. However, their effect on traditional universities is debated.
- Overall, the web and digital technologies are argued to be changing what and how students learn to prepare

Learning and Education in the Networked SocietyEricsson
It took 100 years to connect 1 billion places and 25 years to connect 5 billion people. Today, 85 percent of the world’s population has access to mobile communications, and by 2020 we expect there to be 50 billion connected devices.
Mobile phones, tablets and laptops are making the school desk as we know it obsolete. Today’s progressive schools are having their classrooms rebuilt to turn them into multifunctional spaces to enable new ways of learning. A new Ericsson Networked Society report, "Learning and Educations in the Networked Society" , shows that introducing ICT in schools affects six principal areas.

This document summarizes Fred Garnett's presentation about WikiQuals, an open accreditation model for self-directed learning. Some key points:
- WikiQuals allows learners to pursue projects in the real world and document their learning to gain accreditation in a transparent, post-hoc manner without traditional institutions.
- It is based on emergent and heutagogical learning principles rather than pedagogical models, and sees learning as a social, content creation process not defined by classrooms or textbooks.
- WikiQuals operates through affinity groups rather than traditional supervision, and aims to support entrepreneurial learners in building their own personal learning networks.
- It
Learning and Education in the Networked SocietyEricsson Slides
This document discusses how learning and education are being transformed as society moves towards a networked world. Key points discussed include:
- Students and teachers empowered by technology are disrupting traditional classroom models through practices like lifelong learning, knowledge sharing, and peer-to-peer learning.
- The rise of connected devices, online content, and digital skills are breaking down barriers between formal education and informal learning.
- New skills like critical thinking and understanding multimedia will be important as students have access to unlimited online information.
- Schools, universities, teachers, and governments will need to adapt education models to compete in this new ecosystem and focus on personalized, flexible, and skills-based learning.
The document discusses the need for schools to shift from traditional models of teaching and learning to models suited for the 21st century. It notes that learning is becoming more collaborative, participatory and networked as the world becomes more connected through technology. Half of what students learn in their first year may be outdated by their third year, so schools must focus on lifelong learning and preparing students for an uncertain future.
The document discusses designing education around the concept of "Sustainable Innovation" to prepare students for emerging technological changes predicted by the "Technological Singularity". It defines the Singularity as the outcome of converging technologies producing "Trans-Humans" and potentially "Post-Humans". It advocates a "Leapfrog" approach to education using advanced technologies to move from memorization to creative knowledge production, blending formal and informal learning to support Sustainable Innovation.
The document discusses the shift to 21st century learning, including a move from linear to networked learning, an emphasis on community and collaboration over individual achievement, and the need for schools and teachers to adapt to these changes. It notes that skills like creativity, innovation, and pattern recognition will be increasingly important for the future workforce. Statistics are provided on the growth of information and how quickly knowledge becomes outdated, emphasizing the need for lifelong learning. Effective technology integration depends on pedagogical approaches rather than the technology alone.
A view of the changing digitally mediated teaching and learning landscape cze...Laura Czerniewicz
A modularised, disaggregated teaching and learning landscape is emerging due to new digital technologies and online platforms. This allows the separation of content from teaching and assessment, as well as more varied models of content delivery and monetization. However, it also enables greater commercialization and private sector influence in higher education globally. While new opportunities are created, questions remain around issues like coherence of learning and the variety of player motivations and impacts.
This document discusses the history and development of open and emergent learning approaches. It outlines key developments including:
- The need for more open and participatory education models like Summerhill School in the 1920s.
- The convergence of digital technologies in the 1970s and their potential to disrupt existing education models.
- The creation of the World Wide Web in the 1990s and how it enabled open sharing of knowledge and participatory learning.
- Developments in open educational resources and open courseware in the 2000s that helped make learning more open and accessible.
- The proposal of "WikiQuals" in 2012 as a model of open and post-hoc accreditation of learning based on
The document discusses the need for education to focus on sustainable innovation in order to prepare students for the impacts of emerging technologies. It defines sustainable innovation as continuous innovation that allows humans to adapt to rapid changes. It also defines the technological singularity as the outcome of converging technologies like robotics and biotechnology that will lead to the emergence of transhumans and eventually posthumans. It argues that education must "leapfrog" by using new technologies to move beyond memorization and allow students to be more creative and innovative. Schools need to balance tradition with preparing students to develop global solutions and contribute to the singularity through sustainable innovation.
As children we learn how to share with others and in the words of Darwin "In the long history of humankind (and animal kind too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed". Through the ubiquitous adoption of the internet there has been an exponential growth of information shared. The use of digital technologies such as social networking tools and smart devices have enabled individuals to connect, communicate, curate, collaborate and create. An array of user-generated multimedia artefacts are now shared that can be discussed, debated and critiqued. As educators it is through knowledge sharing and socially mediated interactions that we can make a difference. However it is not simply the giving or receiving of information, but about the new co-learning opportunities we can make (Rheingold); the ability to develop new capacities for action and change (Grey); and how we create knowledge and leverage it (Wenger). My keynote presentation will consider the concept of shareology and connectedness through social media and the value of working out loud.
The document summarizes the key discussions and presentations from a workshop called "The Boise Charrette" aimed at shaping 21st century learners. The workshop focused on how K-12 school libraries can better support student needs in the digital age. It covered topics like emerging technologies, redesigning library spaces, developing virtual learning portals, and cultivating relationships to advocate for library programs. The goal was to help libraries establish 12 elements of effective practice, including supporting student creativity, digital citizenship, and equitable access to information resources. Participants worked on challenges to design prototypes for an effective website, physical space, and use of emerging technologies to better prepare students for the future.
The document discusses emerging trends in 21st century education including the rise of social media, the increasing pace of knowledge creation, and the need for schools to shift from standardized learning to personalized education. It argues that schools must change their focus from teaching to learning and collaboration in order to prepare students for a world where knowledge and jobs are constantly evolving.

The document discusses preparing for the future of education through mobile and networked learning. It outlines challenges like an aging population, changing work environments, and emerging technologies. Example projects are mentioned like mobile learning apps, virtual reality simulators, and new models of schools. Questions are posed about challenges, interests, and potential partners to help inform strategies moving forward.
The document discusses the need for schools to adapt to the 21st century by embracing new technologies, collaborative learning models, and focusing on developing students' creative and innovative skills. It provides statistics about the growth of information and changing job market. It also outlines characteristics of communities, professional learning communities, and the benefits teachers experienced from participating in a professional learning program focused on 21st century skills.
The document discusses the need for schools to shift their focus from individual expression to community involvement and sharing knowledge in order to prepare students for the 21st century. It outlines trends like social and intellectual capital becoming more important and knowledge doubling every few years. Schools need to move from isolated teaching and learning to collaboration both within and outside the classroom using digital tools and networks.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

These models could be explained by looking at the roles of teacher and student:
On one hand there is the idea that students should be encouraged to repeat and reproduce models from teachers and experts, until they master a particular domain or metier…
Another model encourages students’ initiatives in order to promote creative solutions to new contexts and emergent needs. This particular paradigm usually emerges in periods of deep cultural change.
What Learning mètaphors do we need today, in The Digital Age?
- We know the old idea of filling an empty glass…

Now we are developing the metaphor of connectivity.
How do we connect with science and truth?...
