Asthma is a disease characterized by inflammation of the bronchioles and airways that causes recurring symptoms like wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. It is caused by infections like colds or allergies that provoke inflammation in the bronchioles. Asthma is classified based on symptom frequency and severity and can be treated with medications like inhaled corticosteroids, oral steroids, and bronchodilators or therapies like chest physiotherapy.
