2. Drug allergy

 Penicillin and related antibiotics
 Antibiotics containing sulfonamides (sulfa
drugs)
 Anticonvulsants
 Aspirin, ibuprofen and other nonsteroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
 Chemotherapy drugs

3. Drug Allergy Symptoms

4. Sinusitis
 Sinusitis, also known as rhinosinusitis,
is inflammation of the paranasal sinuses. It
can be due to infection, allergy, or auto-
immune problems. Most cases are due to a
viral infection and resolve over the course
of 10 days.

5. Clinical types
 Acute sinusitis: A sudden onset of cold-like symptoms
such as runny, stuffy nose and facial pain that does not go
away after 10 to 14 days. Acute sinusitis typically lasts 4
weeks or less.
 Subacute sinusitis: An inflammation lasting 4 to 8 weeks.
 Chronic sinusitis: A condition characterized by sinus
inflammation symptoms lasting 8 weeks or longer.
 Recurrent sinusitis: Several attacks within a year.

8. Diagnosis
 History and examination made by a doctor
 Plain X-ray studies of the sinuses may be
misleading and procedures such as CT and
MRI scans, which are much more sensitive
in their ability to diagnose sinus infection.

9. Treatment
 Recommended treatments for most cases of
sinusitis include rest and drinking enough water to
thin the mucus. Antibiotics are not recommended
for most cases.
 Breathing low-temperature steam such as from a
hot shower, or nasal irrigation can relieve
symptoms.
