The document summarizes a lesson plan for a 3rd grade class that focuses on literary elements. The lesson plan includes reviewing literary elements with a poster, reading aloud books related to plot and setting, and having students listen to and participate in podcast activities about setting. The lesson plan will use a combination of audio, visual, text-based, and interactive materials and methods. It aims to have students describe literary elements like character and setting with accuracy and engage students through class discussions. The teacher will evaluate the lesson based on what students liked, how much they learned about characters, and ways to improve the flow and implementation of technologies in the lesson.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Shelby Bollner Day Three 6/4/13
A
The students in my class will be completing a week long unit plan about the five literary
elements which are character, plot, setting, style, and theme. It is a 3rd
grade class and is about
even in the ratio of boys to girls at 12 boys and 10 girls. Culture wise, the students are similar as
the school is not located in a very culturally diverse area though some have Hispanic roots. All of
the class speaks English, though for some it was not their first language, which makes the mode
of communication much easier. The class doesn’t vary in age, so each should be taught on the
same level, with the exception of a few that lag behind.
S
Students will describe what the literary elements are with a focus on the literary element of
setting and why they are significant by having a review of the class literary element poster and a
review of plot by student read-alouds of a book pertaining to the literary element of plot. The
students will listen to a read-aloud of a book pertaining to setting and then will complete a post
reading activity involving Podcasts. The students will Students will be able to describe the
literary element of character with 100% accuracy by the end of the unit.
S
There will be a couple different methods being used. First, the short review will be going on as
students sit at their desks and simply listen and can participate in review of the class element
poster. The second method will be the class listening to each studentread-aloud the book of their
choice to review plot. Activities following this will be students listening to a read-aloud of “Ox-
Cart Man” and then students will participate in a class discussion about the hints of setting from
the read-aloud. Lastly, the students will be asked to return to their seats where they will receive
the classroom set of computers and they will go to the class FaceBook page where they will
listen to the literary element Podcast that has been uploaded. They will complete the activity that
is described in the Podcast. The media used for this class will be a combination of audio, visual
(as in computers and multimedia), still images (the poster), text, and Elmo use because of the
2. class poster review, the read-aloud, the Podcast containing the class activity, and class computer
use of the class FaceBook page. The materials used will be the poster made by the teacher, the
podcast made by the teacher, the text purchased by the teacher, and the class computer set rented
out from the school’s media center.
U
The audio and visual media used will be the review of the class literary element poster and
thePodcast with the individual student activity while the students are at their desks with each
student having a computer from the class computer set.So there will need to have the class
computer set already rented and tested and made sure it works with the internet connection and
that it will come up with FaceBook and the podcast smoothly and play without glitches. There
will also be will be a need to make sure that the class literary poster is in a visible place in the
classroom where all students can see it. For the read-aloud, I will need to make sure that the
Elmo is set up so that the book can be viewed from the front of the classroom so no students will
have to strain to see. I will have already practiced this read-aloud many times to assure that I will
go through it smoothly and that I already know what I want to say and mention about the literary
element of setting.
R
The learner participation in this class will have to be great. The students will often be in class
discussions like when going over the literary element class poster when there will be opportunity
to discuss each element and have students ask questions and when students will be discussing
elements of setting for a post-reading activity after the read-aloud.The Podcast will be the least
interactive part of class but even so the students will have many opportunities to discuss what
they think about the activities, what they felt about the activities, if they liked them.
E
For evaluating my lesson plan, I will take what the students liked best and what they didn’t enjoy
about the lesson. I will evaluate how much the students knew about the literary element of
character after the lesson and see how much they retained. I will consider what went smoothly
and what parts of the lesson need to be practiced and worked on to make sure there are less
3. interruptions and to make sure each activity flows from one to the other. I will also consider what
other technologies I implement into this lesson plan.
