Only daughter is a Memoir written by SANDRA CISNEROS. In only
daughter the author speaks about how as a girl child, she was ignored by her
family.

The learner,

‫٭‬ Learns to read the passage correctly.
‫٭‬ Learns and understand the theme of the
memoir.
‫٭‬ Creates awareness for the importance of
women.

The Learner,
• Know about the difference between memoir and
autobiography.
• Study the issue of marginalized people.
• Study the problems of women in the society.

Informal talk:
Good morning
How are you all
Have you had your breakfast?
Link talk:
Teacher introduces the writer to the students
with the help of pictures and explained about
the writer. Then write the title and name of the
writer on the black board and also using power
point. Teacher introduced main characters of
this story to the students.
Micro processing of the input
Model reading by the teacher
The teacher now reads the five
paragraphs of the story with proper
pronunciation, Stress and intonation.
Individual reading
Teacher asks the learner to read it
individually. Corrections are maid when ever
necessary.
Track reading by the pupil.
Students are asked to read the first time
paragraphs individually and silently and they are
asked to make accordingly . That is they have to
put tick( ) what they haven’t and an exclamatory
mark(!) for what they found interesting or
surprising.

  • 3. Issue Issue related to the marginalized. Content Analysis Only daughter is a Memoir written by SANDRA CISNEROS. In only daughter the author speaks about how as a girl child, she was ignored by her family. Curricular objective The learner, ‫٭‬ Develops the ability to write memoir. ‫٭‬ Learns to read the passage correctly. ‫٭‬ Learns and understand the theme of the memoir. ‫٭‬ Creates awareness for the importance of women.
  • 4. Pre-requisites The Learner, • Know about the difference between memoir and autobiography. • Study the issue of marginalized people. • Study the problems of women in the society. Teaching Learning Resources • Slide presentation, pictures, chart. Reference Source book, course book, dictionary.
  • 5. Class room interaction Expected pupil response procedure Informal talk: Good morning How are you all Have you had your breakfast? Link talk: Teacher introduces the writer to the students with the help of pictures and explained about the writer. Then write the title and name of the writer on the black board and also using power point. Teacher introduced main characters of this story to the students. Micro processing of the input Model reading by the teacher The teacher now reads the five paragraphs of the story with proper pronunciation, Stress and intonation.
  • 6. Individual reading Teacher asks the learner to read it individually. Corrections are maid when ever necessary. Track reading by the pupil. Students are asked to read the first time paragraphs individually and silently and they are asked to make accordingly . That is they have to put tick( ) what they haven’t and an exclamatory mark(!) for what they found interesting or surprising. Scaffolding Questions •What is the title of this memoir? • Who is the author of this memoir? • Can you tell me what is the main theme of this story? • Who are the main character of this story? Follow up activity • What is the most wonderful thing that happened in your life? Write a small paragraph In your own words.
