Assure- Monday
A- 4th grade classroom. 20 students: 14 girls, 6 boys. 7 African-Americans, 5
Caucasians, 4 Japanese, 4 Hispanics. Each student is in an enrichment-based
classroom for higher learning.
S- My students will describe and understand the affects of September 11, 2001
after watching a short video, conversing with their classmates, looking at a facts
poster, and completing a web quest with 90% accuracy.
S- The video I will show is a kid friendly video showing how different reporters
were acting on September 11.
U- Students will use the Smartboard to watch the short video, and have a
prepared facts poster. The webquest deals with different perspectives on
September 11, 2001 and what the students would do if they were in that
situation.
R- Each student will converse with their classmates about what they would do if
they were in that position on September 11, 2001. The students will complete
the Webquest individually so I can understand their full opinion and decide what
they previously know. This will be my way of a formative assessment so I can
decipher where to head in the upcoming days for this lesson.
E- Before starting my lesson, I will ask the students to make their own KWL
chart to show what they previously know, what they want to know, and what
they learned. This will give me a way to know if this lesson was useful and
whether or not to use it in my upcoming classes. At then end of the class period I
will ask each student to name a specific fact that they have learned today from
either conversing with their classmates, looking at the facts poster, or even
reading the assigned readings on the webquest.
