Garment's Sample Making
There are many reasons for making a sample
garment, and although it can be a tiresome
and often boring process, it gives you a
finished pattern that is adapted to you and
can be used for endless amounts of finished
garments. The fabric you make your sample
garment out of will be dependent on what
you want to make your finished garment in.
There is no point making a sample skirt out
of stretch fabric if you intend to have the
finished skirt in nonstretch fabric. It is just a
waste of time.

Costing, Budgeting and Selling price
Costing Format
Since the industrial beginnings, textiles and apparel have been the
leaders in terms of cost awareness as well as product innovations.
Textile Costing includes all the activities like purchase of raw
materials and accessories, knitting fabrics, processing and finishing
of fabrics, sewing and packing of garments, transport and
conveyance, shipping, over heads, banking charges and
commissions, etc.
To do perfect garment costing, one must know about all these
activities thoroughly about their costs, procedures,
advantages and risk factors. Also he must know how to solve
the problems when occurred and to take suitable alternate
decision immediately in time.
Costing, Budgeting and Selling price
Budget fashion shopping tips
If you are not an accountant, you may not be aware of the various
direct and indirect costs that may be involved with a
manufacturing production project. If you are an accountant, you
may still be unaware. Manufacturing is complex, requires
communication among all interested management parties to be
successful and is increasingly cutthroat. This article shows you
how to make the right decisions with proper budgeting.
History
Production managers used to just make their product. A marketing
manager would try to sell the product or service. Engineers
engineered. And accountants buried their noses in numbers and
balance sheets and played with their abacuses. The manufacturing
world has evolved, and it continues to evolve. Manufacturers must
now keep an eye on global competition, increased focus on
individual customer requests (personalization), the use of cross-
functional teams that may span different offices, shorter product life
cycles, time-based competition and information technology
Function
Battle against the evolving elements by monitoring the success of
products and services with appropriate product and process
costing. Product costs can provide the following: 1) a measurement
for the value of your inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS); 2)
facts for production managers to use for cost control and decision
making; and 3) cost data for interested outside organizations, such
as government agencies or insurance companies, that may need to
assess operations.
Size Matters
Yes, it does. As a manufacturer has more sets of products and
product costs, operations become more complex and accounting
systems become more complex. Also, there is the challenge of
delivering accurate costs in a timely manner with the increased
complexity. The secret to accounting with increased growth lies in
applying
Selling Pricing
Selling Price Variance Overview
The selling price variance is the difference between the actual
and expected revenue that is caused by a change in the price of
a product or service.
The formula is:
(Actual price - Budgeted price) x Actual unit sales = Selling price
variance.
How to sell clothes
1. Preparation
Start with a little research
Search eBay for clothes that match or are very similar to yours to give
you a sense of current prices and popularity on eBay. This can help
you set reasonable expectations of how much money you might get
for your items. You might be pleasantly surprised to learn how much
value there is in popular brand-name and designer clothes, even pre-
owned clothes (in good condition, of course).
Find out how other eBay sellers describe and price their clothes to get
ideas and insights into best practices for how to sell clothes online.
Start your research at the Advanced Search page and make sure to
select "Sold listings."
Clean your items
Cleaning your clothes is an important step to selling online. All pre-
owned clothes must be cleaned prior to listing. For most clothes,
this means washing and ironing. For special items—like suede, silk,
and other delicate fabrics—you must bring your garments to the dry
cleaners. Buyers expect to receive like-new garments—clothes that
is ready to wear and free of odors and stains. Note that brand-new
clothes with or without tags does not need to be laundered.
Understanding your target customer
Before you can start your business, you need to identify its target
market by working out who will be using your product or service and
what their habits are. This will allow you to determine how you will
price your offering and work out how much you will spend on
marketing.
Working out who your customers are
If you're starting up, looking at who your customers will be will
help you to work out how you are going to market and brand
your business. Think about how your brand will appeal to
customers: if you're marketing to teenagers, you'll need to
make sure your offering is eye-catching as well as affordable.
What to find out
Begin by looking at your customers' demographics - what their
profiles are. Look at:
Age
Income
Level of education
Gender
Race or nationality
Family status and size
