Arthropods are the most diverse and successful animal phylum, comprising about 80% of all known animal species, with around 6 million estimated species. They have adapted to various habitats, feature a segmented body and exoskeleton, and possess jointed appendages, which allow for survival in extreme conditions. Insects, the largest group within arthropods, exhibit unique characteristics such as three pairs of legs, a tracheal respiratory system, and undergo metamorphosis during development.
