In the fall, as I entered my first semester of college I had an overwhelming rush of
emotions; I was nervous and uneasy. I had left not only my home, but also my city
of Dubai as a whole. For the first few weeks I knew, minimal people, it was not
until I attended my first English class that I had done an exercise that allowed me
to get to know people in my class. From that time forward, I began to feel satisfied
that I started to get to know people, and felt comfortable enough to allow my writing
journey to take its coarse. Considering I had come from a country where English
was not the first language I would say my speaking and writing skills were not the
best. Despite that, when I registered for this class I had a goal for myself, which I
intended on reaching by the end of the semester so I could improve my English.
Looking back on my work throughout this English 1020 course, more specifically
project 3 and blogs, I have learned how to strongly develop ideas and analyzing
information which is useful in building a strong argument. To start reflecting on my
journey, I would like to say that blogs played a key role in my developing process
throughout the class, and the reasoning behind this is because it was a time that
gave us freedom of style when writing. In our blogs, we were allowed to express our

fist, and he kept on PUNCHING and PUNCHING the classroom s back wall!

classroom, near the main exit, and watched his horrifying behavior.
In the beginning, I started to run and get help because I thought he was having a
seizure. Couldn t he feel the pain of his hard punches? I asked myself. He wanted
an A, but he earned a D, and that s what I wrote (as a grade) on his paper.
My nail biting moment took place when I taught a long term summer school
assignment. The name of the course I taught was social studies, and I only had five

Molds
Molds are fungi that can be found both indoors and outdoors. No one knows how
many species of fungi exist but estimates range from tens of thousands to perhaps
three hundred thousand or more. Molds grow best in warm, damp, and humid
conditions, and spread and reproduce by making spores. Mold spores can survive
harsh environmental conditions, such as dry conditions, that do not support normal
mold growth. Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, exposure to
molds can cause symptoms such as nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, or skin
irritation. Some people, such as those with serious allergies to molds, may have
more severe reactions. Severe reactions may occur among workers exposed to large
amounts of molds in occupational settings, such as farmers working around moldy
hay. Severe reactions may include fever and shortness of breath. Some people with
chronic lung illnesses, such as obstructive lung disease, may develop

The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic
journey through the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in
terms of an allegory. Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in
darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up in these dark woods.
Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the Nine
Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life
and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject:
man s journey through life to salvation.
The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he
has lost his way. In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I
went astray From the straight road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood.
Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight road. In Dante s allegory,
the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God. Mankind
must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this
righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on
the right path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins.
Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in
an eerie, dark wood. In Dante s Inferno, this dark wood allegorically resembles the
people of mankind who are not consciously aware of
