• Essential oils are used in this
aromatherapy.
• They are aromatic essence extracted
from PLANT, FLOWERS, SEEDS,

• Essential oils have medicinal
properties. They are extremely fine
substance and can enter in blood
capillaries through the skin.
• Although they are called oils but
actually they are volatile liquid.
HISTORY
• Aromatherapy is 6000 years or more years old. In 1930 Rene Maurice
Gelte fosse, coined the term aromatherapy.
• He was fascinated by the benefits of lavender oil in healing his burned
hand without leaving no scars.
• During IInd World War, French army surgeon Dr. Jean Valnut used
essential oils as antiseptic.
HOW AROMATHEAPRY EFFECTS ON WHOLE
BODY?
• Inhaling oil stimulates our olfactory. Olfactory
system is a part of brain which is connected to
nose.
• We have tiny hair in nose which can recognized
specific aroma.
• Aroma molecules travel to our olfactory through
these tiny hairs.
• Aroma molecules effects are limbic system
commonly referred “emotional brain”.- It can
helps to control our emotions.
• It is directly connected to the post of brain that
control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing,
memories.
• Stress level and hormone balance.
NOTES OF ESSENTIAL OIL (LEVEL)
1. TOP NOTE – Very Strong, Smell. Less use, evaporates quickly, highly volatile, Mixing -
15%.
2. MIDDLE NOTE - Evaporates at normal speed and balance. Mixing 30%.
3. BASE NOTE – Softest to use, evaporates slowly, relaxing and intense fragrance.
Mixing 45%.

NOTE: HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OIL
• Essential oil can’t be used neet. They must be diluted before use. They are soluble in
oil and in alcohol. For beauty treatment, we can dilute in moisturizer, cream, oil and
pack.
• Oil we use for diluting essential oil are used carrier oil.
CARRIER OIL- It is a vegetable oils, derived from fatty portion of plant, usually seeds or
nuts, kernels.
Example of carrier oil- Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Carrot oil, Olive Oil, Grapeseed oil,
Jojoba oil, Sunflower Oil, Hazelnut oil, Peanut oil, Primrose oil.

• PREGNANCY
• EPILEPSY
• HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
• SKIN ALLERGY (SENSITIVE SKIN)
• SUN EXPOSURE
AROMATHERAPY CONTRA-INDICATION
• Never take internally (oral intake).
• Always dilute before application.
• Do not exceed the recommended close upto 3:6.
• Do not use same oil more than 15 days.
• Do not blend more than 3 oil in any treatment.
• Do not use on pregnant women, not even in diffuser.
• In sensitive skin, do patch test.
• Do not store in plastic container. Always store in dark colored glass container.
• Avoid sun exposure after using oil.
• Keep away from the children.
• Do not wash face or shower for few hours after aroma therapy.
• Some clients complaints migraine or nausea, after aroma therapy, then give strong coffee, it will reduce
the efficiency of aroma therapy.
• Migrain, pregnancy, vitiligo, high BP, mensuration cycle.
