Review of Literature
Health promotion is an essential health care issue that should be implemented by all members of the
health care team (Hosseini, Torab, Taghdisi, Vardanjani, 2013). Nurses play a critical role in health
promotion for patients, family, and community because we provide direct patient care and are able to
see the whole picture of the client s situation. The population of people with chronic illness is
increasing and the health care needs of clients is trending in an upward fashion (Jadelhack, 2012). As
members of the health care field, it is critical that nurses take a proactive approach in preventing the
increasing trend of chronic, complex illnesses by promoting health for our patients, family, and the
community. There are three levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses implement health promotion in community setting, hospitals, schools, clinics, and nursing
facility. The health promotion process in a nursing setting includes assessment, nursing diagnosis,
planning, implementation, and evaluation (Edelman, Kudzma, Mandle, 2014). The nursing assessment
includes data collection and analysis to identify the client s situation. Physical, environmental,
cultural, spiritual, emotional, and educational data are collected during the nursing assessment. The
next step is to develop nursing diagnosis(es) and prioritize the identified problems (Edelman, Kudzma,
Mandle, 2014). Once the problems are identified, the planning of care can take place. The plan
includes written goals, problems, expected outcomes from the patient/family/community, and
interventions that will be taken to achieve the goals and improve outcomes (Edelman, Kudzma,
Mandle, 2014). In planning for health promotion, the nurse needs to taylor the plan to suit the learning
needs, environment, and health needs of the client, family, or community (Povlsen, 2011).
Interventions by the nurse are meant to empower and education the person to make changes in health
behavior including screening, education, and crisis intervention. Ongoing evaluation of the health
promotion process is essential in improving methods and health outcomes.

Analysis Of How Do I Love Thee By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Research Essay: How Do I Love Thee
Elizabeth Barrett Browning asks, How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. (439). There are
innumerable ways you are able to love to another individual. Each line of the poem answers her
original question, and then goes on to prove (with evidence) that her love is indeed real. Browning
describes and expresses her distinct feelings very literally about the one she loves in this poem. She
explains love by listing and describing many of the ways that she knows how to love and compares it
to circumstances which the readers can relate to. Browning uses love to show readers that there are
immeasurable ways to have this passion in How Do I Love Thee? In this poem she expresses three
major ideas of love: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She associates her mortal body to the way that her love is unlimited, just like God. Associating her
passion for love to the passion that Jesus Christ has for this followers she says, I love thee with the
passion put to use. (440). She tells that she still has the love as she has always had, I love thee with a
love I seemed to lose with my lost saints, which shows her maturity and evolution into adulthood. No
matter how old she gets, her love will continue to grow with her and thrive dissimilar to young adults
who lose faith as they get older. She desperately wants to stay with her man on Earth and in Heaven,
and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death. (Lines 12 14) shows that even in death she
will have the ability to forever love.
The theme is that love is always present, regardless of if your living or in the after life. This poem
describes a love that is so passionate, true and pure that she will go to any length to show and describe
it. Browning expresses the speakers love by repeating it often and going into great deal comparing it
to other things to make it relatable to the readers. After reading, I believe that this poem can make a
person want to strive for this type of passionate love. She speaks of her soul, which is an abstract
object, then speaks of candles, which are basic real object that is tangible. The candle light can

Chapel Service Psychology
The actually had two chapel services that were my favorite the first was the chapel service where
Ryan Nunez spoke and the second was the chapel service where Deb Wade spoke. When Ryan spoke
it was a surprise to hear that guilt was an unexpected gift that God have us. Also, having Deb who is a
psychologist speak to us was entirely amazing as I am fascinated with psychology. As for Ryan s
message he talked about god unexpected gift of guilt which leads to shame. He also spoke about how
it is your choice to admit your sin to God and obtain repentance. An example that he used was in 2
Samuel 11 and 12 which was when David lusted after Bathsheba. Bathsheba s husband, Uriah was in
David s army and he ended up killing him in a way. He sent Bathsheba s husband, Uriah to the front
lines where he knew that he would be killed and this happened because David lusted after her. David
felt guilt from this and eventually he felt shame. I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two points that I remember were number one, which was to lose some weight inside and number
two, pop pimples. What she meant by point one us that we need to lose the burden of shame which
kind of correlates with what Ryan spoke about. I learned that I need to get rid of those voices that are
hurtful now and anything that was said in the past. Also, I need to remember that I am not a mistake
when I am feeling down, no one is a mistake and no one should ever think that they are! God loves us
because he was the one who created us. Deb also spoke about some spiritual exercise that we should
follow. I will try to remember these spiritual exercises in the past. I really loved this message as it
seemed very relatable to me. There were times that I feel down, but because of I remembered this
message I felt better. I plan remember these points in the future and remember that I am not a mistake
and God loves me for who I

The Importance Of Intercultural Dialogue In Canada
Multi culturalism pervades Canada as a nation, a predominately immigrant driven and sustained
country that seems at times to indicate overtly and in part covert inferences from those who slip
through the cycle of immigration without the opportunity of engaging and by extension impacting the
conversation on intercultural dialogue in Canada. One can cite that majority of Canada s population is
comprised of diverse ethnic and cultural background of immigrants yet the term visible minority has
been harnessed to dichotomize its immigrant community, bit of oxymoron possibly. Luzviminda, an
extremely creative expression of dialogue between Canada and the various ethnicities that seek to
improve or enrich there lives and those of there love ones. Its epitomizes another avenue of
communicative osmosis of cultures that s enhances and penetrates the social, political and cultural
platform from which they initiate and exchange dialogue. I cannot negate the that fact, while Canada
frames the space for such migration to be possible for immigrant population, it goes without say that
the benefit is dual in nature. Canada s socio economic paradigm is by virtue very much at a perpetual
advantage as a result of its expeditious growth from the immigrant community. Luzvinminda, stands
as a representation of this intercultural dialogue. Dr. Patrick Alcedo, Associate Professor of the
Department of Dance at York University states that, A portmanteau , Luzvinminda represents the three

Evolution Creationism in Education Essay
Evolution Creationism in Education
The twentieth century has witnessed the escalation of the creation evolution debate through famous
court cases and Supreme Court decisions on the teaching of evolution in public schools, culminating
most recently in a Kansas Board of Education decision. As this highly controversial issue of the
teaching of evolution in American classrooms rages on, it may be difficult for some individuals of
Christian faith to form an alternative belief other than the extremes of creationism and evolutionism.
Before discussing this issue any further, when I refer to strict beliefs in creationism or evolution as
extreme views I am not necessarily implying that they are wrong, but are simply two views on
completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many Christians today would answer no to this question. Accepting the theory of evolution as a
possible explanation of how we came into existence does not deny God as our Creator or that He
remains at work today. Instead, it is entirely possible to believe that God used the process of evolution
to create the human species. In addition, evolution should continue to be taught in public schools, even
if this requires the presentation of dissenting views so that students may formulate their own beliefs.
History of the 20th Century Creation Evolution Debate
The creation evolution debate entered the education realm in the early 1920 s when several states
prohibited the teaching of evolution in the classroom. Stephen Jay Gould (1999) reports that this led to
the famous 1925 Scopes monkey trial in Dayton, Tennessee, and the conviction of high school teacher
John Scopes on the grounds of teaching evolution in a public school. An article on the world wide web
entitled The Scopes monkey trial, says the trial pitted prosecuting attorney William Jennings Bryan
against defense attorney Clarence Darrow on the issue of the constitutionality of a Tennessee law, the
Butler Law, which specifically forbade the teaching of evolution in the state. Oklahoma, Florida,
Mississippi, North Carolina, and Kentucky already had similar laws. David L. Marcus (1999) adds,
however, that the Tennessee Supreme Court later overturned the ruling on a technicality.

Compare And Contrast Waffles And Pancakes
Each morning, human beings are puzzled by one of the toughest decisions that have to be made. This
decision can determine the outcome of one s entire day. If chosen incorrectly, the results could be
disastrous! That decision being: Which is better, waffles or pancakes?
We were dining in at the old Coffee House in Lenoir, North Carolina. We came in hungry and wanted
a good breakfast to start off the first day of school. We got our menus and started to order. Before I go
any further, we usually agree on most things, but for some reason we found each other s weakness. I
wanted waffles while he wanted pancakes.
Waffles and pancakes may look similar in their usual circular shape, but when compared to one
another, their textures are quite different.

The Last Day Of Skiing
As thin air encloses me as I inaugurate the last day of skiing at Breckenridge, Colorado. Three days of
skiing cease rather painlessly; I stumble oftenly but an evening on the couch next to a crackling wood
fire soothes my minor aches. Closing times nudges on the final day of our weekend trip as I prepare
for my ultimate run of the vacation. Fresh off the ski lift, I glide towards the junction of the trials
unoccupied skilled face of the mountain. I detach my boots from my ski s and rest them on my
shoulder, climbing up the rim of the mountain while the wind sways me back and forth, reaching the
top, clicking my skis back on. After a moment of deliberating, I fearlessly select a narrow path so
steep that the only way can be seen from my viewpoint.
All alone, I glance downhill and advance towards a dangerous region on the mountain. Suddenly, my
legs chatter violently, as my skis scrape against the frozen patches that disperse the area.
I already knew that the trail will be empty for quite awhile, I said.
After overcompensating from the fall. I take my left glove off and inspect what damage has this done
to me, the heavy drift blows my glove away from me.
Noooo, no, I said.
I stand up and detach my right ski, then scramble the icy slope that flanks the trail in search for my
missing glove. Upon returning to stance of my missing glove, I re enter the steep slope. I put on my
glove and slowly slide down the slope putting my ski back on. I suddenly hear rumblings followed

Argumentative Essay On Junk Science
In court, before testifying, the speaker is asked to put their hand on a bible and swear to tell the truth
and nothing but the truth. When a forensic specialist is testifying in court, they often say the phrase To
a reasonable degree of scientific certainty when presenting their analysis (Balko par.10). This phrase
sounds convincing and persuasive to both the judge and the jury, but does not have any accepted
meaning in the world of science and it does not give away the percent error of the analysis. If these
experts were to provide the percent error of their analysis in their testimony without saying this
common phrase then maybe the judge and the jury will have a better understanding of the data that is
being presented to them and may not even make a conviction based off the information that of which
was stated. The question that should be asked is how reliable is forensic science and are any advances
being made to prevent junk science from being used in the courtroom?
The opposition may argue that Forensic science is a good way to present evidence to the judge and the
jury to convince them that the defendant is guilty. Although this may be the case in some
circumstances it is not in every case. Forensic science is perceived as a form of science that is
typically being applied to criminal investigations. Most forensic sciences, such as odontology which is
the scientific study of the structure and diseases of teeth, are viewed as junk science because ...it does

The Aesthetics Of The Sublime
The Aesthetics of the Sublime in Abstract Expressionism
In the period between 14 March and 7 June 2015, the institution of the Royal Academy of Arts, based
in the heart of London, takes an artistic importance even more significant than usual thanks to the
organization of the exhibition dedicated to the painter Richard Diebenkorn, who works in America in
the mid twentieth century. The first thing to emphasize about this event is that, to the European
audience, the name of the artist may seem unfamiliar. Indeed, his success has been mainly limited to
the US context. Moreover, it is significant that this three room show is the first opportunity for the UK
audience to approach the art of Diebenkorn in more than twenty years. Thus, the exposition becomes
not only an opportunity to see the works of art but also the instrument by which the visitor can take a
journey through the different artistic phases that have characterized the life of the painter. Hence,
while the first part of the display includes the initial experiments with abstraction, in the second
Diebenkorn tries to find the way to express himself through the figurative art. In the third room, the
viewer might be surprised to see that the development of the artist is actually his return to the
beginning. In fact, even if differently compared to the early stage, in his later works, the creator
returns to the Abstract Expressionism. Therefore, using a more geometric style given by vertical,

Progression, Enlightenment, and a sophisticated culture refinement are all factors that can portray the
ideal civilized society. With all these factors in collaboration, we have a civilization, the highest form
of human organization. In an organization, the living biotic creatures are given the ability to sustain
and eventually assemble what they consider to be modern life. In ancient culture, prehistoric
Mesopotamian and Egyptian cultures created what they believed to be a civilization. Through
extensive use of resource and desire to evolve in humanity, both civilizations succeeded in leaving

to provide a benefit to western civilization. Considering their advanced writing system, lunar calendar
recordation, and revolutionary use of the wheel, Mesopotamia truly stood as a promising foundation
for a lasting civilization.
One of the primary Mesopotamian inventions was in form of writing; this was called Cuneiform. The
Mesopotamian word Cuneiform translates to wedge shaped. The Sumerian writing system used
several thousand characters and some for sounds (Kagan 8). Using writing initially for recording the

The Affect of Political Instability and Inflation on Pakistan
This paper issued by the State Bank of Pakistan talks about the affect of Political Instability and
Inflation on our country. Pakistan since independence has been a victim of political instability ranging
from political dismissals, cabinet changes or assassinations. This instability has had an adverse affect
on our policy formulation, implementation and effectiveness in terms of economic stabilization. Due
to an unstable political environment we are unable to implement a set of consistent and coherent
policies. This greatly affects the working of a government and reduces its ability to bear shocks which
ultimately cause a macroeconomic disequilibrium such as inflation.
The conventional view of political instability similar to the weak form Fiscal Theory Price Level is
that it leads to high inflation due to governments reliance on seigneiorage. However, this relationship
does not hold true for countries like Pakistan which are low or moderately inflated countries. In this
circumstance the predictions of strong form FTPL are more relevant in which price level is determined
irrespective of money growth. This is more pertinent when it is analyzed with the predictions of
Political Economy of Macroeconomic policy which contextualizes the price level determination
without money growth. However political instability is not considered to be a determinant for the
calculation of inflation. Inflation is rather considered as a monetary phenomenon.

The Meaning of A White Heron Essay
The Meaning of A White Heron Through life experiences we learn that some things in life are more
important than money. By using the Archetypal Cycle of Human experience I will be able to explain
the importance of each stage in the story A white Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett. The story A white
Heron is about a nine year old girl named Sylvia. The author starts the cycle/framework by implying
through the character s age that Sylvia has a certain innocence that only a young child early in life can
possess. This is the first stage in the cycle of human experiences, the innocence stage. Sylvia had
moved from the city to the country in order to live with her grandmother when she was eight years
old. Sylvia used to live in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This sparked an interest in the man, and he talked about his bird collection and that he was out there to
get a white heron. The man asked if Sylvia had seen a white heron, but she did not reply. The man said
that he would pay ten dollars to anyone who could show him the location of the white heron s nest.
Sylvia thought of all the treasures that she could buy with that wealth. This paragraph contains the
third step in the cycle because of the range of emotions that she experienced and the choices she made.
The third step is all about experiences, trial an error and temptations. Sylvia was no longer
thinking/acting with a good heart; she had been taken control of by greed. The next day the man goes
out in search for the white heron and Sylvia accompanied him. While they were looking for the heron
the man gives Sylvia a jack knife. Sylvia starts to like the man because he is kind and sympathetic.
Sylvia could not understand why he killed the birds that he liked so much. Sylvia has now started to
develop certain feelings for the man. The man stayed the night again at the house and all that Sylvia
could think about was climbing the pine tree to find the white heron so she could gain the man s
approval of her. This paragraph is the fourth step in the cycle because of the internal emotions that she
had created. The fourth step is death, psychologically or internally (what you believed about your
standards). The author has Sylvia develop feeling for the man

Oxford Summer Program Analysis
William Duquette Oxford Advanced Studies Program Application
Attending the Oxford summer program would reconnect me with the country of my birth, England.
When I was a baby, my family moved from England to the United States, where I live now. Since I
moved to Illinois, my family and I have traveled to many locations around the globe including Peru,
Australia, Japan, India, the Galapagos Islands, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Botswana. My most
memorable trips were Japan and India, but for different reasons. When I traveled to Japan I learned
about an entirely new culture and taste many new foods. Our visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial
Museum was both disturbing and moving. My trip to India was memorable because it allowed me to
experience international healthcare. In India, I was diagnosed with viral meningitis and spent eight
days in an Indian hospital, which gave me a rare opportunity to experience first hand what less
advanced healthcare was like. I have gained an expansive view of the international community
through my travels. International travel has introduced me to multiple perspectives on life outside the

Stephen T. Asma s Book On Monsters
There is such kind of monsters, remain their appearance as a human, yet the things they do can only

desires. People were, or still are facing actual brutal violence or psychological terror from those

this kind of monster, unfortunately, is still relevant to the world, even till this day.
In just three years of its power in control, Pol Pot and Khmer Rouge turned the country of Cambodia
into a living hell. By 1976 approximately twenty five hundred prisoners had passed through the
bloody corridors of S21, and each year that followed saw increased numbers of tortured prisoners,
until they totaled around seventeen thousand by 1979, when the Vietnamese Army liberated Phnom

The Unity of the Mind and Body
The Unity of the Mind and Body Both Michel De Montaigne and John Donne argue that the
cultivation of the mind is linked to the well being of the body. Both argue that a mind void of proper
enrichment and education will lead to an unhealthy body. However, Montaigne argues that the
appropriate means of #8220;education and enrichment #8221; are studying and following the works of
other great thinkers of history. Additionally, Montaigne declares imagination to be the impetus for the
downfall of the body. Conversely, Donne argues that a mind groomed in imagination is the proper

He declares that the #8220; #8230;comical impediments which so embarrass our society that they talk
of nothing else are most likely caused by apprehensions and fears #8221;(pg.39). These apprehensions
and fears are brought on, Montaigne argues, by an imagination that controls the mind and body.
Montaigne even goes as far as to call imagination the culprit for many people falling ill, as he says
that the reason some people become sick is that their imaginations concoct how bad they could feel,
and their bodies simple follow suit. He states that #8220; #8230;the mind must generally be prepared
in advance. #8221;(pg.41) in order for the body to feel a certain way. Montaigne #8217;s whole
argument in the essay reflects his distaste for the cultivation of a mind through imagination and his
idea that imagination leads to an unhealthy mind and consequently, an unhealthy body. John Donne
#8217;s general viewpoint on the relationship between the mind and the health of the body differs
greatly from Montaigne #8217;s. Donne #8217;s theory is simply that the path to a healthy body is an
imagination. He claims that the imagination is the machine responsible for creating the ideas that
make the body feel good. As for education, he argues that the highest forms of education are not from
history books or philosophers, but

Tar Baby by Toni Morrison 7. What is the symbolic function of the African woman who spits at
Jadine? Tar Baby Toni Morrison s novel might for some be a novel of cultural awakening. One also
might at their first reading and perhaps also by reading the different studies made on Tar Baby,
restricted to an interpretation that sees Jadine, Morrison s protagonist, as woman who has, consciously
or unconsciously, lost her ancient properties (305) and internalized the values of a white culture.
Jadine has totally disconnected herself from her racial identity and cultural heritage. This reading is
supported by the fact that Jadine has got her education in Europe with the financial assistance of

Jadine refute Ondine s views of black womanhood when she tells her some of the things that are
expected of her from society Jadine tells Ondine that: I don t want to learn how to be the kind of
woman you re talking about because I don t want to be that kind of woman (282). This, according to
Rayson (1998), might be interpreted as Jadine s rejecting the roles of mother, daughter, and woman to
stay the tar baby (Rayson, 95), however it marks her becoming aware of what kind of woman she is by
the end of the novel. Jadine s inclination toward upward social mobility leads to her separation from
the Afro American roots and the tar quality that Morrison advocates. This kind of flaw in Jadine
effectively disqualifies her as a black woman capable of nurturing a family and by large the
community. Jadine s perception of an ancestral relationship from which she is estranged occurs when
she sees an African woman in a Parisian bakery. When she is celebrating her success as model
evidenced in her appearance on the cover of Elle, Jadine becomes nervous or perhaps uncomfortable
by the African woman in yellow attire. She triggers an identity crisis in Jadine at the moment when
she should have felt more secure with her professional achievement assured by beauty and education.
In his African woman, Jadine catches a glimpse of beauty, a womanliness, an innate elegance, a

Comparing A Midsummer Night s Dream and Romeo and Juliet...
Although many Shakespearean plays are very similar to one another, two stand out from the rest as
sharing a great deal in common. Specific, solid parallels can be drawn between Shakespeare s plays A
Midsummer Night s Dream and Romeo and Juliet. The themes and characters are remarkably similar
in many aspects. Firstly, both plays highlight the stereotypical young lovers Hermia and Lysander in A
Midsummer Night s Dream and Romeo and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. Secondly, both plays are very
ambiguously categorized. By this I mean that each could have been a tragedy just as easily as a drama
(with a few minor modifications). By definition, a tragic play is a play in which the main character has

Comparing The Pit And The Pendulum By Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe is known for his deep and dark short stories. He is also known for being the greatest
literary author of all time. Poe was a mysterious man that combined all his traits into one story. All of
Poe s stories had some sort of darkness to them, some used a little bit of love and romance, but all lead
to the same result usually.
In Poe s story The Pit and the Pendulum, it expresses torture and despair, almost to the point of where
all hope is gone. In this story, an unnamed narrator is taken for prisoner and is placed in a dark and
deep dungeon in Spain. The narrator wakes up in the dungeon thinking it is a tomb and starts to
feeling around the dungeon not knowing where he is at. There were judges watching him and the
narrator almost falls to his death in the middle of the dungeon. The narrator tripped and his chin was ...

Poe always tries to catch your attention in the first sentence or few. True! nervous very, very
dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why will you say that I am mad ?(Poe). The author
attempts to grab the reader s attention to question why the story begins with that and makes the reader
keep on reading. Poe also writes like he is talking to the reader directly, Poe questions the reader and
points stuff out and uses foreshadowing. Now this is the point. You fancy me mad. Madmen know
nothing. But you should have seen me. You should have seen how wisely I proceeded (Poe). This is
only in the third paragraph in the story and Poe has already grabbed the reader s attention and has
hinted on what he is about to do. This use of this technique Poe uses the best along with suspense and
horror. The Tell Tale Heart expresses and goes into the mind of the narrator from planning out his
killing, to when he hears the old man s heart in the floor when it is actually his own. This is one of Poe
s best work of literature from it s unique type of

Shepard Fairey, the artist behind the Barack Obama presidential election Hope poster, chose a
photograph as an aid to achieving an ideal pose, that was taken by an Associated Press, AP,
photographer, Mannie Garcia. This led to a controversy as Fairey used an image he did not own for his
personal artwork. This leads to the question of whether illustrators and artists should be allowed to use
photographs under the copyright Fair Use clause without having to ask permission or pay royalties to
the original artist or copyright holder.
Shepard Fairey is an American contemporary graphic designer, street artist, illustrator and founder of
the OBEY Clothing company. In 1988 he graduated from Idyllwild Arts Academy in Palm Springs,
California. Fairey realized his interest in art while working at a skateboard shop where he proceeded
to post his homemade stickers. From there, he moved into the street art culture and graffiti movement
where he became interested in stencils. While receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Rhode Island
School of Design (RISDI), Fairey became known for his Andre the Giant Has a Posse sticker
campaign for OBEY. However, his fame sprouted during the 2008 U.S. presidential election when he
created Barack Obama s Hope poster, which sparked controversy. Some of his other works which
combine elements of graffiti, pop art, business art, and Marxist Theory have been shown at The

Greasy Lake
Prompt #1
Characters do what they do because of their various motivations and desires. Often, their desires
conflict with their ethical or moral responsibilities. For example, personal belief, love, a thirst for
vengeance, a resolve to rectify a wrong, or some other ambition may cause a character to conflict with
a moral obligation. Write about a literary work in which a character s motivations/desire conflict with
his/her ethical responsibilities. Working thesis
Watch out who you hang out with because the others can lead you into trouble and down the wrong

Greasy Lake does not reveal any revelation in the characters. The story is told by a narrator that
describes himself as a privileged teen that considers himself friends with evil traits. The narrative
technique is deemed to be modernist. Greasy Lake is set in a small town with adolescents who are in
search of a good time. Boyle s writing style is face paced. He uses a lot of metaphors and usually uses
more than one metaphor. Boyle like s to establish mood and purpose by figurative language and
fluidity. Boyle was born in 1948 and was a Vietnam vet.
Boyle likes to write about the moral of a problem and has received national attention for this. Moral
blindness is often common in revelation stories. When the two women come up to the lake, the boys
do not tell them about the fate of their friend Al because they believe that silence is essential. Boyle s
fiction show s that the post modernist fiction is capable of mastering the contemporary world. Boyle s
work illustrates the world as one without an ethical dimension.

Anne Of Green Gables Fandom Culture
It was in the year 1908 when the world first effortlessly fell in love with the tale of Anne of Green
Gables by L.M. Montgomery. Since then, the story has been re discovered, imitated, and adapted
hundreds of times. In doing so, not only is the story of Anne Shirley kept alive but also generations of
fandoms are connected through ever evolving forms of media representation and relevant
interpretations of the story. Although the fandom has no official name or recognition in the eyes of
scholars, it is undoubtedly a presence that continues to grow and influence the way readers perceive
Montgomery s timeless tale. The story has been adapted as a Japanese anime, musical, radio drama,
and feature film. With each adaptation of the story, one can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The endeavour to break free from such limitations is one of the reasons the fandom continues to
evolve in their interpretations of who and what Anne represents, with the most recent adaptation from
Netflix promising to illustrate the gritty and realistic aspects of life. Montgomery demonstrates the
belief that the expectations one adopts from reading, or any form of media, may never be attained in
real life; such as when Anne describes how she read about and tried to imagine what [diamonds]
would be like, however when she saw a real diamond in a lady s ring one day [,] [she] was so

imaginations in transforming the mundane adventures of Anne Shirley into a story of heart and a voice
of courage. As Anne of Green Gables has influenced and inspired generations of readers to live with
optimism and hope, the fandom has kept the story of Anne Shirley alive, pertinent and relevant in the

The Influence Of Neo Confucianism On China
In china there has been no central rule in China for 70 years until the Song Dynasty created in 960.
Things started to change in China, for example, the government started to aid the poor a lot more than
what they have in the past. They were getting this money from the newly introduced income tax. This
made a lot of people happy and everyone started to have more patriotism and pride. This pride gave
the government a feel of legitimacy. Some of the major things the government is paying for is the
roads, food, and education. Pottery at this time helps out the economy in China, because the pottery is
so advanced that it was being exported for good money and it also led more people to come to China.
Even though China was number one in the world for many things like technology and a sophisticated
culture they were weak military wise (Holcombe p.127). Neo Confucianism was also created in the
Song Dynasty. Neo Confucianism was Confucianism put together with Taoism, which was the ying
and the yang, which was also put with Buddhism. This new patriotism also led to xenophobia in the
country which leads to irrational decisions in the future. As time when on the Song Dynasty would
lose some land to smaller dynasties who took over smaller parts to China in the south. Despite this the
economy amazingly boomed during this time where the Chinese call the medieval economic
revolution (Holcombe p. 130). Trading had a big role in this economic revolution. Archeologists have

Why Did Baroque Concerto Changed During The Baroque Era
The baroque concerto has proved to be a very formative aspect of classical music. Without the
emergence of the concerto, music would not be as it is today. Concerto composers changed the way
music was perceived and defied musical norms, introducing new and exciting patterns, sequences, and
combinations.
Concertos have changed drastically throughout the years. What were deemed concertos during the
baroque era, will not always qualify as a concerto by modern definition. A concerto was originally
defined as multiple instruments or voices performing together, typically a piece combining voices and
instruments often in larger numbers. The definition has since changed as the concerto has become a
more distinguishable work. Today, concertos involve a soloist pitted against an orchestra or ensemble
contrasting in movement. Contrast and unity were, ironically, both basic elements of the baroque
concerto. The principal of the concerto was to unite two differing bodies of sound. The term Concerto
is a derivative of the latin term concertare which translates as to contend with. The first composer to
write a work designated as a concerto was Giuseppe Torelli.. Before they were appointed the term
concerto, his early works were known as sonatas and sinfonias. From Torelli s works of early
concerto, inspiration arose. Composers such as J.S. Bach, Corelli, and Vivaldi adopted this new style
and created their own masterpieces out of it.
There are two types of concerti that were popular during the baroque Era: Solo Concerto and Concerto
Grosso. The solo concerto includes one solo instrument set against an orchestra. An excellent example
of the solo concerto is Vivaldi s Four Seasons, a set of Violin Concertos. Sonority and virtuoso
instrumentalists experimented a lot with the solo concerto. The violin was featured in the solo
concerto more than any other instrument. A violin soloist would play something as the orchestra
played against it. The common movement for the solo concerto is allegro, adagio, allegro (fast, then
slow, then fast again.) Concerto grosso involves a small group of soloists and an orchestra. J.S. Bach s
six Brandenburg concertos fall under this category. This type of concerto is based on opposition

The Extent to which You Think the Gothic Novel Represents...
To what extent do you think that the Gothic novel represents recognisably modern anxieties?
Since the 1800 s, vampires have often found their way into literature, legends, and popular culture.
The vampire s first appearance in Gothic fiction came from John Polidori s publication, The Vampyre
in 1819, and from then the fascination of the vampire and gothic literature as a whole grew and can be
viewed as a commentary on the period of time in which it was written. The strong image of the
vampire is a strong metaphor for communicating the zeitgeist of the time. By analysing Bram Stoker
s, Dracula (1897) and Sheridan Le Fanu s, Carmilla (1872), as both novels are very important as they
both helped mainstream vampire literature and created characters that have remained popular for over
a century. An examination into these texts and the significance of the vampire on modern anxieties and
anxieties of the time can be understood. In order to do this an analysis will be placed upon the main
themes within both texts, such as degeneration, patriarchy, gender and class.
The use of vampires within Carmilla and Dracula can be seen as significant in representing
colonialism and the worries of degeneration that were established towards the Fin de siècle of the
nineteenth century. Both texts present the hierarchy of civilisations through binary opposites such as
the West being presented as good and light, and the unknown and mysterious East being described as
negative, mysterious and

The Village, by M. Night Shyamalen Essay
Matthew Lesko once said, A degree of lying seems to be inherent in all languages and all forms of
communication. Quite often lies are integrated into society in order to manipulate the minds of the
receiver(s) and ultimately shape the community in a particular way. The Village a 2004 by M. Night
Shyamalen is indicative of this fact. A culture (even one based on fear) can flourish through use of
ritual communication. First off to fully grasp the significance of ritual communication behind the
movie, The Village one must first understand what exactly it is. Ritual communication is defined as, A
symbolic process whereby reality is produced, maintained, repaired, and transformed. (Carey, 1989)
The method is dependent on mass forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the dawning of Covington Woods creation, stories were told of terrifying creatures that lived in
the forests. Beasts that were attracted to the color red and repelled by yellow and so traditions began
of avoiding red even to the point of burying crimson flowers that blossomed. Stakes with yellow flags
marked the perimeter of the village and those who kept watch wore cloaks of yellow. Overall the
affect was very convincing and the villagers fear of these beasts kept them content with their way of
life, overall maintaining it. But as is the way of life there was bound to be a hitch that if not repair
could ultimately lead to the town s demise. Lucius Hunt was a man that had no fear of these beasts
that kept the society running. His lack of fear even led him to ask permission to leave the village to
retrieve medicines that would improve the life of the townsfolk. Unsurprisingly the Elders were
stirred; Lucius open mind and lack of fear for his own safety could prove dangerous to the
conservation of their world. With the best of intentions they struck even more terror into the villagers
hearts. Finally Lucius breaks but not because he fears for his own safety but for the welfare of his
beloved Ivy Walker. Unbeknownst to him, his bravery has given courage to Ivy and when Lucius falls
close to death it is Ivy who seeks help to save him. It is at this point in the movie where the audience
sees the power that ritual communication has to shape people. The Elders

  • 2. Review of Literature Health promotion is an essential health care issue that should be implemented by all members of the health care team (Hosseini, Torab, Taghdisi, Vardanjani, 2013). Nurses play a critical role in health promotion for patients, family, and community because we provide direct patient care and are able to see the whole picture of the client s situation. The population of people with chronic illness is increasing and the health care needs of clients is trending in an upward fashion (Jadelhack, 2012). As members of the health care field, it is critical that nurses take a proactive approach in preventing the increasing trend of chronic, complex illnesses by promoting health for our patients, family, and the community. There are three levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nurses implement health promotion in community setting, hospitals, schools, clinics, and nursing facility. The health promotion process in a nursing setting includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation (Edelman, Kudzma, Mandle, 2014). The nursing assessment includes data collection and analysis to identify the client s situation. Physical, environmental, cultural, spiritual, emotional, and educational data are collected during the nursing assessment. The next step is to develop nursing diagnosis(es) and prioritize the identified problems (Edelman, Kudzma, Mandle, 2014). Once the problems are identified, the planning of care can take place. The plan includes written goals, problems, expected outcomes from the patient/family/community, and interventions that will be taken to achieve the goals and improve outcomes (Edelman, Kudzma, Mandle, 2014). In planning for health promotion, the nurse needs to taylor the plan to suit the learning needs, environment, and health needs of the client, family, or community (Povlsen, 2011). Interventions by the nurse are meant to empower and education the person to make changes in health behavior including screening, education, and crisis intervention. Ongoing evaluation of the health promotion process is essential in improving methods and health outcomes. Review of Literature: Health Promotion 5 There are three levels in health promotion ... • 3. Analysis Of How Do I Love Thee By Elizabeth Barrett Browning Research Essay: How Do I Love Thee Elizabeth Barrett Browning asks, How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. (439). There are innumerable ways you are able to love to another individual. Each line of the poem answers her original question, and then goes on to prove (with evidence) that her love is indeed real. Browning describes and expresses her distinct feelings very literally about the one she loves in this poem. She explains love by listing and describing many of the ways that she knows how to love and compares it to circumstances which the readers can relate to. Browning uses love to show readers that there are immeasurable ways to have this passion in How Do I Love Thee? In this poem she expresses three major ideas of love: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She associates her mortal body to the way that her love is unlimited, just like God. Associating her passion for love to the passion that Jesus Christ has for this followers she says, I love thee with the passion put to use. (440). She tells that she still has the love as she has always had, I love thee with a love I seemed to lose with my lost saints, which shows her maturity and evolution into adulthood. No matter how old she gets, her love will continue to grow with her and thrive dissimilar to young adults who lose faith as they get older. She desperately wants to stay with her man on Earth and in Heaven, and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death. (Lines 12 14) shows that even in death she will have the ability to forever love. The theme is that love is always present, regardless of if your living or in the after life. This poem describes a love that is so passionate, true and pure that she will go to any length to show and describe it. Browning expresses the speakers love by repeating it often and going into great deal comparing it to other things to make it relatable to the readers. After reading, I believe that this poem can make a person want to strive for this type of passionate love. She speaks of her soul, which is an abstract object, then speaks of candles, which are basic real object that is tangible. The candle light can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Chapel Service Psychology The actually had two chapel services that were my favorite the first was the chapel service where Ryan Nunez spoke and the second was the chapel service where Deb Wade spoke. When Ryan spoke it was a surprise to hear that guilt was an unexpected gift that God have us. Also, having Deb who is a psychologist speak to us was entirely amazing as I am fascinated with psychology. As for Ryan s message he talked about god unexpected gift of guilt which leads to shame. He also spoke about how it is your choice to admit your sin to God and obtain repentance. An example that he used was in 2 Samuel 11 and 12 which was when David lusted after Bathsheba. Bathsheba s husband, Uriah was in David s army and he ended up killing him in a way. He sent Bathsheba s husband, Uriah to the front lines where he knew that he would be killed and this happened because David lusted after her. David felt guilt from this and eventually he felt shame. I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two points that I remember were number one, which was to lose some weight inside and number two, pop pimples. What she meant by point one us that we need to lose the burden of shame which kind of correlates with what Ryan spoke about. I learned that I need to get rid of those voices that are hurtful now and anything that was said in the past. Also, I need to remember that I am not a mistake when I am feeling down, no one is a mistake and no one should ever think that they are! God loves us because he was the one who created us. Deb also spoke about some spiritual exercise that we should follow. I will try to remember these spiritual exercises in the past. I really loved this message as it seemed very relatable to me. There were times that I feel down, but because of I remembered this message I felt better. I plan remember these points in the future and remember that I am not a mistake and God loves me for who I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Intercultural Dialogue In Canada Multi culturalism pervades Canada as a nation, a predominately immigrant driven and sustained country that seems at times to indicate overtly and in part covert inferences from those who slip through the cycle of immigration without the opportunity of engaging and by extension impacting the conversation on intercultural dialogue in Canada. One can cite that majority of Canada s population is comprised of diverse ethnic and cultural background of immigrants yet the term visible minority has been harnessed to dichotomize its immigrant community, bit of oxymoron possibly. Luzviminda, an extremely creative expression of dialogue between Canada and the various ethnicities that seek to improve or enrich there lives and those of there love ones. Its epitomizes another avenue of communicative osmosis of cultures that s enhances and penetrates the social, political and cultural platform from which they initiate and exchange dialogue. I cannot negate the that fact, while Canada frames the space for such migration to be possible for immigrant population, it goes without say that the benefit is dual in nature. Canada s socio economic paradigm is by virtue very much at a perpetual advantage as a result of its expeditious growth from the immigrant community. Luzvinminda, stands as a representation of this intercultural dialogue. Dr. Patrick Alcedo, Associate Professor of the Department of Dance at York University states that, A portmanteau , Luzvinminda represents the three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Evolution Creationism in Education Essay Evolution Creationism in Education The twentieth century has witnessed the escalation of the creation evolution debate through famous court cases and Supreme Court decisions on the teaching of evolution in public schools, culminating most recently in a Kansas Board of Education decision. As this highly controversial issue of the teaching of evolution in American classrooms rages on, it may be difficult for some individuals of Christian faith to form an alternative belief other than the extremes of creationism and evolutionism. Before discussing this issue any further, when I refer to strict beliefs in creationism or evolution as extreme views I am not necessarily implying that they are wrong, but are simply two views on completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many Christians today would answer no to this question. Accepting the theory of evolution as a possible explanation of how we came into existence does not deny God as our Creator or that He remains at work today. Instead, it is entirely possible to believe that God used the process of evolution to create the human species. In addition, evolution should continue to be taught in public schools, even if this requires the presentation of dissenting views so that students may formulate their own beliefs. History of the 20th Century Creation Evolution Debate The creation evolution debate entered the education realm in the early 1920 s when several states prohibited the teaching of evolution in the classroom. Stephen Jay Gould (1999) reports that this led to the famous 1925 Scopes monkey trial in Dayton, Tennessee, and the conviction of high school teacher John Scopes on the grounds of teaching evolution in a public school. An article on the world wide web entitled The Scopes monkey trial, says the trial pitted prosecuting attorney William Jennings Bryan against defense attorney Clarence Darrow on the issue of the constitutionality of a Tennessee law, the Butler Law, which specifically forbade the teaching of evolution in the state. Oklahoma, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Kentucky already had similar laws. David L. Marcus (1999) adds, however, that the Tennessee Supreme Court later overturned the ruling on a technicality. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Argumentative Essay On Junk Science In court, before testifying, the speaker is asked to put their hand on a bible and swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. When a forensic specialist is testifying in court, they often say the phrase To a reasonable degree of scientific certainty when presenting their analysis (Balko par.10). This phrase sounds convincing and persuasive to both the judge and the jury, but does not have any accepted meaning in the world of science and it does not give away the percent error of the analysis. If these experts were to provide the percent error of their analysis in their testimony without saying this common phrase then maybe the judge and the jury will have a better understanding of the data that is being presented to them and may not even make a conviction based off the information that of which was stated. The question that should be asked is how reliable is forensic science and are any advances being made to prevent junk science from being used in the courtroom? The opposition may argue that Forensic science is a good way to present evidence to the judge and the jury to convince them that the defendant is guilty. Although this may be the case in some circumstances it is not in every case. Forensic science is perceived as a form of science that is typically being applied to criminal investigations. • 13. The Aesthetics Of The Sublime The Aesthetics of the Sublime in Abstract Expressionism In the period between 14 March and 7 June 2015, the institution of the Royal Academy of Arts, based in the heart of London, takes an artistic importance even more significant than usual thanks to the organization of the exhibition dedicated to the painter Richard Diebenkorn, who works in America in the mid twentieth century. The first thing to emphasize about this event is that, to the European audience, the name of the artist may seem unfamiliar. Indeed, his success has been mainly limited to the US context. Moreover, it is significant that this three room show is the first opportunity for the UK audience to approach the art of Diebenkorn in more than twenty years. Thus, the exposition becomes not only an opportunity to see the works of art but also the instrument by which the visitor can take a journey through the different artistic phases that have characterized the life of the painter. Hence, while the first part of the display includes the initial experiments with abstraction, in the second Diebenkorn tries to find the way to express himself through the figurative art. In the third room, the viewer might be surprised to see that the development of the artist is actually his return to the beginning. In fact, even if differently compared to the early stage, in his later works, the creator returns to the Abstract Expressionism. Therefore, using a more geometric style given by vertical, ... • 14. History And Evolution Of The Modern World Greg Marinos Western History to 1660 Dr. Smith 2/12/15 Advancement in Western Europe Progression, Enlightenment, and a sophisticated culture refinement are all factors that can portray the ideal civilized society. With all these factors in collaboration, we have a civilization, the highest form of human organization. In an organization, the living biotic creatures are given the ability to sustain and eventually assemble what they consider to be modern life. In ancient culture, prehistoric Mesopotamian and Egyptian cultures created what they believed to be a civilization. Through extensive use of resource and desire to evolve in humanity, both civilizations succeeded in leaving impact. However, Within Mesopotamian society, the long lasting impact of their inventions continues to provide a benefit to western civilization. Considering their advanced writing system, lunar calendar recordation, and revolutionary use of the wheel, Mesopotamia truly stood as a promising foundation for a lasting civilization. • 15. The Affect of Political Instability and Inflation on Pakistan This paper issued by the State Bank of Pakistan talks about the affect of Political Instability and Inflation on our country. Pakistan since independence has been a victim of political instability ranging from political dismissals, cabinet changes or assassinations. This instability has had an adverse affect on our policy formulation, implementation and effectiveness in terms of economic stabilization. Due to an unstable political environment we are unable to implement a set of consistent and coherent policies. This greatly affects the working of a government and reduces its ability to bear shocks which ultimately cause a macroeconomic disequilibrium such as inflation. The conventional view of political instability similar to the weak form Fiscal Theory Price Level is that it leads to high inflation due to governments reliance on seigneiorage. However, this relationship does not hold true for countries like Pakistan which are low or moderately inflated countries. In this circumstance the predictions of strong form FTPL are more relevant in which price level is determined irrespective of money growth. This is more pertinent when it is analyzed with the predictions of Political Economy of Macroeconomic policy which contextualizes the price level determination without money growth. However political instability is not considered to be a determinant for the calculation of inflation. Inflation is rather considered as a monetary phenomenon. In this paper, we study the effects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sylvia thought of all the treasures that she could buy with that wealth. This paragraph contains the third step in the cycle because of the range of emotions that she experienced and the choices she made. The third step is all about experiences, trial an error and temptations. Sylvia was no longer thinking/acting with a good heart; she had been taken control of by greed. The next day the man goes out in search for the white heron and Sylvia accompanied him. While they were looking for the heron the man gives Sylvia a jack knife. Sylvia starts to like the man because he is kind and sympathetic. Sylvia could not understand why he killed the birds that he liked so much. Sylvia has now started to develop certain feelings for the man. The man stayed the night again at the house and all that Sylvia could think about was climbing the pine tree to find the white heron so she could gain the man s approval of her. Things started to change in China, for example, the government started to aid the poor a lot more than what they have in the past. They were getting this money from the newly introduced income tax. • 31. Why Did Baroque Concerto Changed During The Baroque Era The baroque concerto has proved to be a very formative aspect of classical music. Without the emergence of the concerto, music would not be as it is today. Concerto composers changed the way music was perceived and defied musical norms, introducing new and exciting patterns, sequences, and combinations. Concertos have changed drastically throughout the years. What were deemed concertos during the baroque era, will not always qualify as a concerto by modern definition. A concerto was originally defined as multiple instruments or voices performing together, typically a piece combining voices and instruments often in larger numbers. The definition has since changed as the concerto has become a more distinguishable work. Today, concertos involve a soloist pitted against an orchestra or ensemble contrasting in movement. Contrast and unity were, ironically, both basic elements of the baroque concerto. The principal of the concerto was to unite two differing bodies of sound. The term Concerto is a derivative of the latin term concertare which translates as to contend with. The first composer to write a work designated as a concerto was Giuseppe Torelli.. Before they were appointed the term concerto, his early works were known as sonatas and sinfonias. From Torelli s works of early concerto, inspiration arose. Composers such as J.S. Bach, Corelli, and Vivaldi adopted this new style and created their own masterpieces out of it. There are two types of concerti that were popular during the baroque Era: Solo Concerto and Concerto Grosso. The solo concerto includes one solo instrument set against an orchestra. An excellent example of the solo concerto is Vivaldi s Four Seasons, a set of Violin Concertos. Sonority and virtuoso instrumentalists experimented a lot with the solo concerto. The violin was featured in the solo concerto more than any other instrument. A violin soloist would play something as the orchestra played against it. The common movement for the solo concerto is allegro, adagio, allegro (fast, then slow, then fast again.) Concerto grosso involves a small group of soloists and an orchestra. J.S. Bach s six Brandenburg concertos fall under this category. This type of concerto is based on opposition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the 1800 s, vampires have often found their way into literature, legends, and popular culture. The vampire s first appearance in Gothic fiction came from John Polidori s publication, The Vampyre in 1819, and from then the fascination of the vampire and gothic literature as a whole grew and can be viewed as a commentary on the period of time in which it was written. The strong image of the vampire is a strong metaphor for communicating the zeitgeist of the time.
