Sword Of Shannara Quotes
WANTED Shea Ohmsford Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks Description Shea Ohmsford is a
half elf, half human crossbreed. He is the adopted son of Curzad Ohmsford, a distant relative and
has a great love for him and his adoptive brother Flick. He has tousled blonde hair and pointed
ears, along with a slim build that favors the elven side of his lineage. He also has close
connections to Menion Leah, or the Prince of Leah, who is also wanted and dangerous. Shea is
against centralized government, despite his close ties to the Prince of Leah. But I did not even
know of the sword! Be brave, and you can achieve anything. This quote ties in with the theme of
the novel because Shea is being told that he needs to leave his home... Show more content on

However, there was one main internal and one main external conflict that Shea sealed with. The
internal conflict appeared early on in Shea s adventure. When Shea started his journey to
destroy the Warlock Lord he felt like he was useless to the party, he felt like they were all risking
their lives to help him, but he was giving them nothing in return. This affects Shea s actions
because it makes him try to contribute more than everyone else . The external conflict that takes
a large role in the book is the distance between Shea s homeland and the Skull Kingdom, where
the Warlock Lord resides. This huge area affects Shea s actions greatly, because it instills a sense
of foreboding about the journey, which makes Shea s decision to go on the journey all the more
important, because it reveals just how brave Shea is. The great journey also affects Shea s actions
because it leads to him having to fight the Warlock Lord. In conclusion, throughout the book, there
are a few large conflicts that affect Shea s actions. The theme of The Sword of Shannara is, Be
brave, and you can achieve anything. Helped to defeat the Warlock

Essay about Omer Fast vs. Gary Hill Video Artist
For my final I have selected Omer Fast CNN Concatenated and Gary Hill Incidence of
Catastrophe from the videos screened in class this semester. The experience from watching both
Fast Hill video was very interesting in the way how memory was mediated. These two videos
used personal, and recollection of memory, but both very far apart in how memory is conceived
in their work. I will give my views on how each video artist applied their problem of memory in the
following.
In CNN Concatenated, Fast creates a monologue into a collage of different news reporters used to
narrate something they normally wouldn t read off a teleprompter. The video is edited precisely
by mixing each reporter word for word to deliver a message. A message... Show more content on

I remember being in the ICU room on morphine to ease the intense pain not knowing that my life
was hanging by a thread. They didn t want to tell me, but it hit me after noticing that my family
members where coming and going in pairs holding back tears. Thinking about that message, I was
scared at that time but didn t want my family to notice. It was hard for me to accept so I prayed
and asked if it s my time, take me, if not, heal me. So, yeah the message sort of hit home in that
manner.
Hill s Incidence of Catastrophe, was very different from what I experienced in Fast video. Hill
made himself the protagonist from the novel Thomas The Obscure by Maurice Blanchot. Hill s idea
on this video derived from what he read and recreated the story himself based on personal memory.
I felt the protagonist in the video was trapped in a bad dream and consumed by the words from the
novel. There where scenes where he found himself running frantically through the woods giving me
the impression he was trying to escape something or someone. He was attached to the novel so
much that his presence at the dinner table felt unwelcomed that everybody stopped talking to each
other. It was complicated understanding how everybody became insane near the end. The video
ends with the protagonist laying down in the fetal position naked in his own excrement and
mumbling unrecognized words.
Both videos where very different

Perseverance In The Film Gladiator
The opening of the film starts out with a fight scene. I immediately understood the movie was
going to be based on sacrifice, battles and a possibility of a war. Throughout the film I got a
message that the director of the movie wanted the audience to perceive. Which was about
courageous and perseverance. Gladiatoris filmthat is going to encourage individuals to persevere
through life obstacles. The film will teach individual the importance in believing in yourself and
one having courage. What was amazing about the main character Maximus courageous and
perseverance is that he was able to instill those characteristics to people around him. That is
wonderful trait to have. Because Maximus was able to instill courageous and will for his people

why they remove 2.4GHz from 802.11ac. We now commonly used Wi Fi basically work in 2.4G

to the 2.4GHz, the channel became very crowded between 2.4 to 2.485GHz, because too many
electronic devices are working in this band (e.g. wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, Bluetooth and

Return on equity is stable throughout the year as well. Both profit margin and basic earnings
power are stable. Regarding earnings per share, there is a slight increase in Q2 and then a
continual decrease in Q3 and Q4. This is a result of a decrease in the average number of
common shares. The following table represents the debt ratios for ExxonMobil for FY 2011:

These changes are not very significant to the success of the business as the company s ratio is

Essay On The Crucible Charlie Chaplin
Arthur miller s play the crucible and the film the king in New York directed by Charlie Chaplin
explores the way politics and people are intertwined. Both these composers, through their texts,
sagaciously convey the notion of how oppressive politics can be. They instil on the responder of
the way in which politicscan ruin and lead both people and societies to destruction when given too
much power. Arthur miller and Charlie Chaplin were profoundly affected by the mass hysteria of
communism led by the politician Joseph McCarthy that happened in America in the 1950 s. They
suffered under the political tyranny of the house of Un American activities (HUAC) when they
were accused of supporting the communist ideology. Amid the political disarray, Chaplin was exiled

This is revealed through the character Abigail. Abigail s control of others is demonstrated when
she smashes betty across the face . Through the stage direction, miller conveys the power and
authority Abigail possesses. Abigail resorts to such actions due to the conformity of theocratic
societies which deemed people who danced as devils. The extent to which she is willing to go to
hide this fact is portrayed when she threatens the girls by stating the she will bring a pointy
reckoning that will shudder you . Through the high modality of her threatening voice, the responder
glimpses the power motivation can bring in a political system that seeks to oppress others.
Moreover, Abigail challenges the theocratic society through the symbolism of her rising up to
Danforth, who is seen as the embodiment of the theocratic society. Through this stage direction,
miller demonstrates the way rebellion can be engendered by political systems that repress its
people. In summary, political systems can engender mass chaos when certain individuals stand up

Persuasive Speech On Divorce
What s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet. Thanks,
Mr. Shakespeare!
Once you divorce, you have the right to keep your husband s last name, return to your maiden
name or heck, make up a whole new name of your choosing. And in most states, it s relatively
easy to make a change, assuming your attorney included a clause in the divorce decree that gave
you the right to change your name. It s usually standard, but in recent months, we ve heard from
several divorcees that wanted to return to their maiden names but didn t because that little clause
wasn t included in the decree. When checking into the matter, we learned that exclusion of the
clause requires you to make a formal request via an attorney and appear in court. And of course, all
that is going to cost more money. And for that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe your family name was well known and could be beneficial to you now, especially if you
find yourself preparing to re enter the job market. Do you have a sense that returning to your
maiden name will somehow make you feel like the person you were before the wedding? Is there
some level of prestige associated with either name that is meaningful? And remember that perceived
influence can quickly fall to the other side of the fence and become an embarrassment.
Your marital status has changed, and along with it, several other changes are to be expected, and
there isn t any change that will make your past disappear, so accept things for what they are, good
or bad, learn from them if you can and move on under any name.
One attorney reminded us that making the name change to avoid creditors, if your hubby left you
holding a big bag of debt, most courts will want to ensure you are changing your name for a good
reason and not to just avoid your legal

Matt was alone. In a cabin in the woods all by himself, he was keeping house till his parents

gone to the Indian village for these three reasons. They were not familiar people, it was not his
usual trail, and he was not the expected champion. The first reason Matt should not have gone to
the Indian village is that they were not familiar people. He did not understand their ways, their
speech, or their dances. He was totally clueless about the Indian culture, except what he had heard
from his teachers. He would likely say or do something foolish, and offend someone, and who
knows what they might do to him if they got angry. He was not familiar enough

Ever wanted to go south to a Latin American country? Well there is plenty to choose from but my
best pick of where to go would be to this little, beautiful country culturally and physically, called
Costa Rica. You don t believe me, huh? Decide for yourself. Costa Rica s general information
Costa Rica is currently at the population of 4,500,000. The national territory is 31,682 square

Afro Caribbean music like rumba, calypso and reggae are popular. In most of Costa Rica,
ancient instruments like ocarinas are being replaced by international instruments like
accordions and guitars. There are still folk styles, outside of Guanacaste, such as the Talamanca
s Danza de los Huelos and the Boruca s Danza de los Diablitos. Guanacaste is the major regin for
Costa Rican folk music, especially pre Columbian styles like the Danza del Sol and Danza de la
Luna of the Chorotega, who also made popular the ancient quijongo (a single string bow and
gourd resonator) and native oboe, the chirimia. Costa Rica s population never developed a
major rhythm or style that became a major part of popular music, and Costa Rica has not
produced a great literary or other artistic tradition. There have been exceptions, such as the Costa
Rican landscape school of painting in the 1920s. In the late 1980s local artists and bands
became famous for having their own original material, such as JosГ© Capmany, CafГ© con
Leche and Inconsciente Colectivo; some of them had fans from outside of Costa Rica, like
Editus, a Grammy winning contemporary jazz ensemble. At that time a popular Latin genre
developed, chiqui chiqui as it was known, led by bands such as Los Hicsos and La Banda. Chiqui
chiqui was a commercial approach to music and soon disappeared. From the late 90 s to present
time, there has emerged a newer rock style led by bands such as Gandhi, EvoluciГіn, Alma

There has been a discussion of imposing imprisonment for the perpetrators who keeps the old

because, already Indian prisons are overcrowding so, if these people also kept in the prison then,
administration of the prison will suffer; these people may mingle with conventional criminals
which may be resulted in high recidivism. Before passing of this Act, President has promulgated an

Fear Of Public Speaking In Public
According to a Chapman University survey on American fears, more than twenty five percent of
Americans biggest fear is public speaking (Ingraham, 2014). This ranked higher than heights, bugs,
snakes, blood, and even dying. So what is it about speaking in public that is scary? And how can
one get over this fear? It turns out that most people tend to be anxious before doing something
important in public (Lucas, 2015, page 9). Being afraid of speaking in public is very common,
and many people will never be able to completely overcome the fear of public speaking. However,
there are many ways to manage and control this fear.
Also known as glossophobia, speech fright is one of the most popular fears of all people. This
particular phobia is the fear of speaking in public or in some cases simply speaking in general. It
can range anywhere from minor apprehension to panic or even being frozen in fear. A person who
is stage fright might forget what to say, feel unprepared and unsure, or just uncomfortable. Along

If a mistake is made during a speech, the best thing to do is to continue like nothing happened.
Chances are the audience did not even notice the mistake. Most audiences are concentrated on the
information that is being presented, not the presentation. During the speech, the speaker should
focus on their material, and not the audience. As a speaker, the job is not to worry about if the
audience likes them or is paying attention, but to present information to the audience. One of the
best ways to help speech fright, according to Dr. Hall Flavin, with Mayo Clinic, is to give
[oneself] a pat on the back after the speech is over. Look at any mistakes you made as an
opportunity to improve your skills (Hall Flavin, 2014). Everyone, whether experienced or not,

One of the most important decisions an individual can make is the type of occupation they choose.
Instead of being merely an economic necessity, an occupation is a reflection of an individual s
personality. For example, a more artistically inclined individual may choose an occupation that
requires creativity, such as hair dressing. Despite this, the government has a way of making it
difficult for people to follow their passions. Occupational licensing laws are the way the
government does this. These laws are government issued permits given once certain educational
standards are met. Though, having the freedom to choose the occupation that you want is not in the
constitution, it is seen, however, as a substantive right. Barriers to employment... Show more

West Virginia is the constitutionalityof a law requiring those specializing in medicine to attend
medical school (482). The Court upheld the constitutionality of the law, stating that it serves a
legitimate state interest to protect the public from fraud and other deceptive practices (482).
Though, the Court found this specific law constitutional, they emphasize that similar kind of
laws are invalid when [regulations] have no relation to such calling or profession . . . they can
operate to deprive one of his right to pursue a lawful vocation (482). San Francisco, California
had a law that required those who owned a wooden building and used it as a storefront for a
laundry business to obtain a permit from the board of supervisors. The board of supervisors
were given great discretion in how they granted permits under the law (482). The Court, in Yick
Wo v. Hopkins, held that the law was unconstitutional based on its discriminatory nature; Chinese
owners of laundries were the victims of this state sanctioned discriminatory, since they were
usually denied permits when they applied (482). Nebbia v. New York is the case that marks the
beginning of the Court s constitutional deference to state governments in regard to law and
regulations that inhibit employment (482). This difference is otherwise known as the rational
basis test, which gives states great leeway to adopt whatever economic policy [that] may
reasonably be deemed to promote public welfare, in so far as the laws passed are seen to have a
reasonable relation to a proper legislative purpose, and are neither arbitrary nor discriminatory

she had been mad, so after just a very few days of prison, she was taken to an asylum. Francois

went there a couple of times in order to get answers for their questions. She would kindly answer

Comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division Of Labor
In comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division of Labor in Society and readings from the The
Rules of Sociological Method to Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann s The Social Construction of
Reality in addition to Harriet Martineaus Morals and Manners, Morals of Slavery, and The Political
Nonexistence of Women, all of these authors investigate people as beings that are fundamentally
social that create the basis for society. Even though their perspectives have similar components
when it comes to fundamentally key ideas, they still tend to take different stances on viewing the
individuals involved in the process from micro and macro perspectives in order to understand the
correlation between the individual interacting with society s institutions... Show more content on

This author has had a particular focus on women in politics and how slaves were included in this
social structure during this time period making an effort to convey that all men are born equal and
free as her views were very radical during this time. In comparison to Martineau, Emile Durkheim
emphasizes that the division of labor is a key attribute to the social structure of society as the
general population continues to grow, people will naturally become more disciplined in specialized
professions that will ultimately create institutions as all of these specializations will work together
to benefit society. However, Durkheim does agree with Martineau to the extent that power is
diffused throughout society and ultimately belongs to the government. As government holds the
ultimate authority, punishment will be defined as a reaction as to what has violated laws that have
been instituted in order to maintain standards of moral order. Additionally, Berger and Luckmann
make it clear that it is because people are social beings, people create a society the more we interact
with one another as [man s] relationship to the surrounding environment is everywhere...structured
by his own biological constitution that people attach what they know to be the physical world and
build structural concepts that constitute our society. (Berger and Luckmann, 47.) All address to
some degree, that the social structure of society exists because we have instituted some

De Beauvoir s “Woman as Other”
Woman as Other
De Beauvoir s Woman as Other lays out an elaborate argument on gender inequality; using the term
other to establish woman s alternate, lesser important role throughout her work, the author dissects
and examines from its origin the female s secondary position in society in contrast to man. Indeed,
from the beginning of recorded history, the duality of man, by definition, positions woman at the
opposing end of the spectrum in relation to her male counterpart. Even by today s modern and
accepting standards, the female suffers under the brand of being the sub standard half of the
duality equation; compared to her male opponent, women are paid lower wages, have fewer and
limited expression of rights, achieve lower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, this has potential implications for the investment on the next generation; if parents
view daughters as less likely to earn market wages or take paid work, they may be less inclined
to invest in their education, which is woman s fastest route out of poverty. Also, in a job market
dominated by men who monopolize the most important positions, the male faction generally
retains the opportunities for success, for advancement or for higher wages. In fact, a recent class
action lawsuit filed on behalf of 1.6 million women employed by Wal Mart stores alleges the
retailer s sexual discrimination has led to women losing out on pay, promotions and other advances;
women are paid less than men in every department of the store. According to the study named in the
lawsuit, two thirds of Wal Mart s employees are female and less than one third of its managers are
female Until recently, social development, by design has guaranteed women limited growth in the

high school and junior colleges required home economics and other domestic related courses to be

reading and watching fantasy books and movies, I did come across the legends of King Arthur

watched Disney s The Sword in the Stone. Since I saw this movie when I was younger and the
only movies I wanted to watch during that time was Disney s Lady and the Tramp and 101

legends I have heard, Merlin was underappreciated and not recognized like he should have been.
Merlin s only purpose was to help Arthur become king and help him complete the prophecy that
he foretold. Unlike most of the legends I have heard, Merlin was a mystery in those legends.
Nobody knew his backstory, or where he came from. In part one, the book explains Merlin s
early life. (This was something I truly liked about the book because this was the first time I ever
heard of Merlin s life before he met Arthur.) Although King Arthur did not appear in part one of
the book, I am curious to see if he will be a part of the story later on. Although my impressions of
the King Arthur legends have not been consistent with Mary Stewart s book The Crystal Cave so

pool, for a man named Mr. Clemon, Jose` learned a life lesson. Mr. Clemon falls into the pool
and hits his head, knocking him out. Jose` quickly goes to help him but Arnie doesn t want to

How Smart Phones Helps Drivers On The Road
Have you ever been told by a family member or friend to no use your phone when driving,
because you can get into an accident? I know I have. For as long as I can remember, there has
been a stigma placed on phone usage while driving, and because of that stigma, some people view
them as a distraction, and nothing more. As a result, they miss out on the vast repertoire of
features that could actually be of help to them. Since the uprising of distracted driving accidents,
all the good that smart phones can do kind of goes unnoticed. But what a lot of people fail to
realize, is that smart phones have an abundance of features that can assist drivers on the road. Only

Smart phone navigation systems are one of the many ways that they can assist drivers while on
the road. GPS navigation has evolved from simple turn by turn navigation, into something more.
Bartlett and Spinelli also mention a feature in which drivers can choose whether they want to
detour around certain obstructions like car accidents, lane closings, and obstructions of that
nature. Averting these types of obstructions gives the driver a much safer route to their
destination, as well as eliminates the threat of a possible collision, which tends to occur most
frequently in those areas. They state how this simplifies finding those trouble spots, and how it
eliminates flicking through various radio stations while trying to get traffic info, especially since
the radio tends to focus on the major accidents, and sometimes misses the other obstructions.
Bartlett and Spinelli expand upon this, and go into detail on how it works: With a traffic service,
the navigation device will receive periodic updates based on your driving path or (if entered)
programmed destination. It can provide on screen alerts and even indicate the traffic flow rate.
Usually the driver can tap a traffic icon to receive info on how long the delay is, what type of
obstruction (accident, construction, lane closing), and then decide whether or not to detour around
a trouble spot. Also, general traffic in the area can often be displayed by going into the menu of the

Artificial Sweeteners And Low Calorie Sweeteners
In the face of an expanding epidemic of overweight and obesity, individuals have increasingly
turned to artificially sweetened (AS) foods and beverages... in an attempt to lose weight, or control
it (Fowler et al. 2008). Because many artificial sweeteners have less calories in them than regular
sweeteners (such as sugarand honey) do, people have turned to these products in order to help
decrease their caloric intake. One of the most effective ways to lose weight is to decrease the
caloric intake. Artificial sweetenerscan be found in a variety of products, these days, and are very
accessible to consumers. While many believe that these products can help control and reduce
weight, there is evidence suggesting that artificial sweeteners not only have no effect on weight
gain, but may cause weight gain in certain individuals. This is a highly debated topic in the field of
nutrition.
Many researchers believe that artificial sweeteners and low calorie sweeteners can aid in weight
management, however not all researchers agree. Some researchers believe that these sweeteners not
only have no effect on weight management, but can also cause weight gain. There is a tremendous
amount of evidence suggesting that artificial sweeteners aid in weight management. For example,
the study conducted by Blackburn et al. (1997) determined that the addition of the high intensity
artificial sweetener aspartame to a multidisciplinary weight control program would improve weight

Information Security And Network Security
In information security, computer security and network security an Asset is any data, device, or
other component of the environment that supports information related activities. Assets generally
include hardware (servers and switches), software (e.g. mission critical applications and support
systems) and confidential information. Assets should be protected from illicit access, use,
disclosure, alteration, destruction, and/or theft, resulting in loss to the organization. Securityassets
are quite helpful for large or small companies and have many different ways of protecting one s
information.
It is quite common to find many individuals involved in compromising a company s intellectual
property. Suspects would most likely be a current/former employee, trusted customers, or
competitors. Therefore security assets are major in protecting and securing a company s
information. The first step to securing intellectual Property is management structure. This will
guarantee that your Intellectual Property will run with a few protection measures implemented.
The second step is Operational Security. This will enable a background check on vendors and
third parties. Also, this will go over existing hiring and departure policies for employees. The third
and final step to securing intellectual property is Cyber security. This will put a stop to network
intrusion, safeguard mobile device security, and remote access security. Protecting a company s

Speech On Academic Success
Good morning,
Today I would like to extol the crucial importance of academic success, and the fine qualities it
entails. Today on this stage, I would like to not only show my story of academic success, but also
how it has inherently moulded my personality and my perception of myself.
Academic success is something that has caused me great rumination something that has ultimately
became a laborious task. And while it has made me reclusive at times, the pursuit of it will
integrally help me in undertaking future career paths. Indeed, with its profound impact on my
education, I now find myself in a world free from restraint a world granting me the opportunity to
take on any career path imaginable.
To truly praise this notion, I now cast my mind back to Grade 4, when I was truly a scrawny,
clueless student who scurried around in the playground but never really perceived the world in a
truly personal way. Every day, I would always accompanied by my best friend, Sam Harding
trudge up the school s bumpy road, to reach the tuckshop where I stuff Zooper Dooper after
Zooper Dooper down my oesophagus. Whilst doing this, I would enter the classroom absent
mindedly, narrowly avoiding teacher eye contact. I therefore felt reticent, shy, and socially
awkward, and yet I never realised one gift I had: the ability to use my contemplative mind to
inspire, empower and entertain people through my work. I never once thought that beaming rays of
joy would emanate from me; I just

Argumentative Essay On Drinking Water
The laws regulating the tap water is 35 years old and is out of date. 35 years ago the country was a
completely different place. The Safe Drinking Water Act only regulates 91 contaminants in the
water that we drink, but there are more than 60,000 chemicals within the water that the people drink
within the United States of America based on the information taken from the Environmental
Protection Agency. According to an analysis taking by government records, both scientist and
government have inspected thousands of cancer causing chemicals within the last decade, and the
identified chemicals are affiliated with cancer and other harmful diseases within the drinking water.
As bad as it sounds, not one of the chemicals has been added to the list of those regulated by the
Safe Drinking Water Actsince 2000. Other studies of shown that some of the law regulated
chemicals are not as toxic as previously known. The problem is, that the standards for those toxic
chemicals have not been updated since the 1980s and there still some unchanged laws that were
passed in 1974. In 2004, more than 62 Million Americans have been exposed to drinking water that
was below standard. An observation from the Times says that over nineteen million test results from
the District of Columbia and the 45 states that made data available.

Reservations agents should convey the desirability, features, and benefits of staying at the hotel,

fact, most guests requesting a reservation will not book a room without receiving a confirmed rate.

TQM is a management philosophy that seeks to integrate all organizational functions, it starts with
identifying who are our customers and what are their requirements.
Every function within an organization has a group of customers who have needs and requirements.
The focus on the relationship between customers and suppliers plays an important role when
attempting to improve quality. TQM starts by forming a link between the external customers needs,

Nike Of Samothrace Greek Goddess Comparison
Nike of Samothrace is a sculpture from 190 BCE, first found on Samothrace, a Greek island, in
1863. This statue is a female figure with wings, wearing a flowing gown. It s said to represent
Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory, and her winning in battle. It shows various elements of the
Hellenistic period, such as the use of space and dimension. The Snake Goddess is a 1600 BCE

Her complex clothing calls attention to her exposed breast, very slim waist and wide hips,

memories from their earlier lives make the idea of reincarnationreal. Studying of reincarnation may
help scientists to discover still unviewed corners of human soul. Nevertheless, it is very difficult to
apply rules of science to the mystery of reincarnation, scientists continue to research this topic and
make new conclusions about reincarnation.
The phenomenon of reincarnation is not a recent problem. The origins of the idea of reincarnation
seemingly date to the Iron Age, about 1200 years BC. Discussion of the topic appears in
philosophical traditions of ancient Greece and India starting from 6th century BC. In addition,
ancient Egypt culture and Celtic Druids have thoughts about reincarnation in their works (
Reincarnation: Ancient Beliefs ).
In western religions and traditions, classical Greek philosophy took important place and had
interesting facts about reincarnation. Among the ancient Greeks, phenomenon of reincarnation was
integral part of teaching. However, for the ancient Greeks, their beliefs were based on different
sources of myths that passed down through decades and generations, and had adjusted individual
preferences. In addition, different thoughts about

Art Criticism Of The Baroque Era
The Musicians In art criticism, the word Baroque came to be used to describe anything irregular,
bizarre, or otherwise departing from established rules and proportions, (Britannica, 2016).
Caravaggio, born Michelangelo Merisi (1571), an Italian painter, can be said almost single
handedly to have created the Baroquestyle during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
None other can be more appropriately defined as Baroque than Caravaggio; his character, like his
art, was confrontational and uncompromising, and both loved and hated. He introduced a
powerfully frank realism and dramatic, theatrical lighting and gesture into Italian Baroque art.
Caravaggio s unvarnished realism and tenebrism influenced nearly every important European artist
of the seventeenth century. (Stokstad, Cothren). By the end of the 16th century, art began to break
away from the refined and disciplined style of mannerism, heavily influenced by the Counter
Reformation of the Church, and emergence of powerful monarchies. This movement comes to be
known as the Baroque Era. Baroque artists were particularly focused on natural forms, spaces, color,
and the use of light in order to create a strong emotional experience; almost theatrically, inviting the
viewer to participate in the story. The Catholic Church found itself needing to influence and rebuild
its following; turned its attention to the arts. The Counter Reformation used the arts to appeal as
much to the emotions and knowledge

Explain The Spanish Conquest Of The Aztec
Disease Conquest The Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire was both quick and easy. There are
many factors that may have contributed to the Spanish Conquistadors ability to defeat and conquer
a city of more than 200,000 people (LoМЃpez LujaМЃn Levin, 2005). Two of these factors were
the introduction of small pox to the Mesoamerican people and the alliances that Henan CortГ©s
forged with enemies of the AztecEmpire.
The Aztecs gained economically through warfare and did not care to control territorially. They
were more concerned with tribute to bring in and support TenochtitlГЎn, than the land itself (Paine,
The Aztecs, 2015). They implied a threat of 40,000 warriors being unleashed if compliance to their
tributary system was not met. The fear of consequences of military strength kept control, but also
created a burden on the people and caused resentment of the forced tribute. ... Show more content

Essay On Augustus The Aeneid
In the age of Augustus myth played a large role in Roman identity, with myths being used to justify
alliances and political activities. The search for a common mythological ancestor amongst cities or
countries offered a sense of legitimacy to the alliances that were struck because of these links. On a
smaller scale, Romans sought to find familial links that meant that they were more qualified to
make a decision, and Augustuswas no exception to this. Augustus family were an old and
distinguished family, however were not patrician, and he was ashamed of the fact that his great
grandfather was an ex slave, the lowest on the social chain in Rome. In order to justify his
leadership, and offer a more glamourous family background Augustus worked hard to establish his
and Julius Caesar s link to the Prince of Troy, Aeneas. Not only that, but Augustus was focused on
establishing divine familial ties,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Augustus wanted not only to be linked to the god Venus, the goddess of love, but also to the go
Mars, the god of war, and to the two founders of Rome itself. Romulus and Remus, the sons of the
god Mars, were related to Aeneas through their grandfather, Numitor. Numitor was the king of Alba
Longa, an ancient city which Romulus and Remus were prophesised to destroy, leading to their
exposure as children. Augustus perpetuated the myth that the city of Alba Longa was founded by
Iulus Ascanius, the son of Aeneas. Through this link in family lines, Augustus solidifies his claim
that he is related to both the gods Venus and Mars, and to two heroes of Roman mythology,
Romulus the founder of Rome, and Aeneas the founder of Latium. The significance of Augustus
wanting to be linked with both the god of war and the goddess of love presents him as a balanced

Pros And Cons Of Concealed Weapons
Christopher Ingraham brings up a very valid point: how would you feel if you couldn t carry a
concealed weapon? Fifty six percent of Americans would feel safer if more people carried
concealed weapons (Ingraham). Now that s not an overwhelming number, but anything over fifty
percent is still a number that gets your attention. The reason for this is there have been a rise in
shootings. People are starting to realize that if they are allowed to carry concealed weapons, they
will have a chance to protect themselves. Ten years ago, only 27 percent of Americans prefered to
be allowed to carry concealed weapons (Ingraham). Now that s an overwhelming difference.
Gun concealment is an ongoing conflict and for a valid reason. Both sides bring up very good
points. Those sides being, we should be allowed to carry concealed weapons and we should not
be able to carry concealed weapons. This is where things get tricky. People carried concealed
weapons anyway. Illegally. With this happening, the people who are not carrying a concealed
weapon are obviously at a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number of shootings today is absolutely horrendous. The number of shootings that are done to
a fire armless person is even more devastating. The number one way to stop all of these deaths is
to fight fire with fire . People want this to stop. If more states do allow gun concealment, the
amount of gun violence would decline and show an overwhelming difference.

Paramedic Personal Statement
A paramedic is one of the first healthcare professionals on the scene of an emergency. Using a
variety of lifesaving techniques, their job is to stabilise the patient for hospital transfer and
definitive treatment. This selfless way of life sparked my interest in front line emergency medicine
and I have sought out every opportunity to help me achieve my goal of becoming a paramedic.
Wishing to obtain a practical insight into administering first aid, I have studied towards and
achieved the St John s Youth First Aid and St John s Activity First Aid qualifications. To push
myself further, I have taught the St John s Youth First Aid course and the St John s Heart Start
course for the last 3 years, alongside a paramedic. In order to gain a more practical experience, I
joined a local First Aid group, and achieved my First Aid at Work qualification. I have since

Lipoma
Abstract:
Lipomas represent about 1 to 4% of all neoplasms of the oral cavity. They mostly present as slow
growing, asymptomatic lesions with a characteristic yellowish colour soft and doughy feel. 0ral
lipomas affect predominantly the buccal mucosa, floor of mouth, tongue and lips. Although
relatively common, intraoral lipomas and its variants are seen in the literature. In the present case,
lesion was excised surgically with the intra oral approach and it did not showed any recurrence.

The Most Narcissistic Generation
It is obvious in this self centred society that we have created in this world, that this current
generation is the most narcissistic generation this earth has ever seen. Teens think they can do
whatever they want, and one of these things is that they can ease through life without having to put
any effort in what so ever. Children these days also think that they can wear whatever want from
making them look like a thug with tatts or piercings, another option is not wearing the proper
school uniform with socks down or ties and top buttons not done up properly. The biggest evidence
of narcissismin teenagers in on their phones with social media, because they want the most
followers and likes on their profile. These three reasons make a child feel accepted and social.
Children think life is as easy as walking down the yellow brick road. You cannot let this continue
with your child.
The first reason this is the most narcissistic generation we have ever seen is that these kids think
life is a breeze and they can just stroll through it. This is because they are not taught early on
enough that this is not ok and they should wake up now before it is too late. Some evidence for
this is in an article written by Wendy Squires, titled Is this the most narcissistic generation we ve
ever seen? , said, They re the work experience kids expecting to go straight to the corner office.

The currency exchange rate has to be considered when the decision is based on cost figures of from
two countries with different currencies. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) used to calculate inflation
rate in a country has to be used in forecasting the future minimum wages as minimum wages are in
proportion with the inflation rate.
Discussion and Analysis
Structure of Payroll in Cornwall, Ontario
1.Minimum Wage
The minimum wage rate in Ontario is $11.60 per hour for 2017 and the minimum wage rates are
subject to annual indexation based on the inflation rate as per the Government of Ontario website.
Since, Inflation rate is measured through Consumer price index so, by taking the CPI data of 10
years we have forecasted the CPI of 2022. As per the CPI the forecasted minimum wage of 2022 is
estimated at $12.51 per hour.
2.Health care costs
The employer health tax (EHT) is a payroll tax on remuneration paid to former employees and
employees.
The EHT rate varies from 0.98% to 1.95% of the wages depending upon the total payroll of the
Ontario employer.
3.Employment Insurance
The federal government directs the employer to deduct the employment insurance (EI) premium out
of the employee s insurable earnings on a condition that the employee must be in insurable
employment.
The employer also has to make the contribution of 1.4 times the amount deducted from

Difference Between Jacobean And Elizabethan Play
In general, Elizabethan as well as Jacobean plays, not only those of Shakespeare, were more or
less influenced by the tradition from which they had arisen, by the sources of information on
which they were based, and also by the current political situation in which they were written.
While scholars have disagreed about the direct influence of Seneca on Elizabethan drama. The
Elizabethan era was a time of relative hope and confidence. In the early seventeenth century,
however, the national mood seems to have become tense and anxious, partially because James
was not as skillful a ruler as Elizabeth. This period, called Jacobean from the Latin form of James
s name, also is known as the early Stuart era after James s family name. William Shakespeare...

Every fresh addition to the knowledge of the history and thought of ancient Greece and Rome was
eagerly welcomed. Sir Thomas North s translation of Plutarch s Lives, which was first published in
1579, provided the framework, and sometimes, even the wording, of the Roman plays of
Shakespeare, Beaumont and Fletcher, Ben Jonson and Massinger. These plays and their leading
figures undoubtedly made a special appeal to the Elizabethan playgoer, who perhaps drew a
parallel between the history of those days and the stirring times in which he himself was living. We
may, indeed, note here that it was easy for the English to identify themselves with the Romans,
whose occupation of Britain had left so firm an impression on their life, laws, and language, and
whose feeling for order, justice, and personal integrity in administration they had inherited. In later
times, when the English, like Romans, became great Empire builders, their writers and orators
often expressed their pride in this similarity of ideals and achievements.Shakespeare himself must
have been keenly conscious of this affinity between his countrymen and their ancient

`` Delusion Of Grandeur `` By Terry Ann Thaxton
Humans are social creatures. We identify ourselves through our community, loved ones, and those
who genuinely appreciate our presence. Our identity defines our personality traits, highlight social
roles. Those with disabilities are often confused about their identity because they are misunderstood
and stigmatized. Through the use of literature, one can empathize better with other people
especially those who are misunderstood by society. Disabled people are more likely to be
neglected and subjected to prejudice or discrimination. In Delusionof Grandeur , Terry Ann Thaxton,
talks about the struggle between Adam and his mother because of his disability. Adam struggles to
cope with his environment and finds himself isolated and misunderstood. Families ultimately suffer
but through their experience, they can learn some amazing lessons.
Adam in Delusion of Grandeur is terribly misunderstood. His mother tries everything in her
power to fix him. Taking care of someone like Adam can be strenuous and tiring. The day to day
strain of providing assistance can lead to exhaustion and fatigue. This can create a whole set of
issues that create emotional stress, guilt, anxiety, anger , and uncertainty about the future. At the
same time, caretaking responsibilities may lead to changed or abandoned career plans. Adam s
mother went as far as signing up for school so that she can monitor her son s behavior. Thaxton
writes, He agreed to take an art class, but only if I took it with him.

Physics Of Hot Air Balloon Experiment
Physics
The following report explains the results of a model hot air balloon experiment that replicates a
previous incident in which the temperature in the envelope was heated to a point until it was
burned. After assessing the researched and calculated data, the assertion of the air in the balloon
becoming too hot to lift the mass will be validated.
The physics related to the operation of hot air balloons is essentially the use of hot air to create a
buoyant force and generate lift. A hot air balloon is made of a large bag called the envelope, a
wicker basket or gondola hung underneath and a burner located beneath the hole in the envelope to
heat the air in the envelope. This heated air causes a buoyant force to occur (Edmonds, 2008).
When an object is submerged in a fluid, it appears to weigh less than when it is outside of the
fluid. The weight of the mass acts downwards, but when it is immersed in fluid, an upthrust or
buoyant force is exerted by the fluid upwards (Edmonds, 2008). The buoyant force occurs because
the pressure in a liquid or gas increases with increasing depth. Therefore, the pressure at the lower
surface of a submerged object is greater than the pressure at its upper surface.
Diagram 1 shows an object that has the same density as water. It is found that the object is in static
equilibrium, tending neither to rise nor sink (Nave, 2014). For this to happen, the downward
gravitational force must be balanced by a net upward force from the surrounding

  • 2. Sword Of Shannara Quotes WANTED Shea Ohmsford Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks Description Shea Ohmsford is a half elf, half human crossbreed. He is the adopted son of Curzad Ohmsford, a distant relative and has a great love for him and his adoptive brother Flick. He has tousled blonde hair and pointed ears, along with a slim build that favors the elven side of his lineage. He also has close connections to Menion Leah, or the Prince of Leah, who is also wanted and dangerous. Shea is against centralized government, despite his close ties to the Prince of Leah. But I did not even know of the sword! Be brave, and you can achieve anything. This quote ties in with the theme of the novel because Shea is being told that he needs to leave his home... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there was one main internal and one main external conflict that Shea sealed with. The internal conflict appeared early on in Shea s adventure. When Shea started his journey to destroy the Warlock Lord he felt like he was useless to the party, he felt like they were all risking their lives to help him, but he was giving them nothing in return. This affects Shea s actions because it makes him try to contribute more than everyone else . The external conflict that takes a large role in the book is the distance between Shea s homeland and the Skull Kingdom, where the Warlock Lord resides. This huge area affects Shea s actions greatly, because it instills a sense of foreboding about the journey, which makes Shea s decision to go on the journey all the more important, because it reveals just how brave Shea is. The great journey also affects Shea s actions because it leads to him having to fight the Warlock Lord. In conclusion, throughout the book, there are a few large conflicts that affect Shea s actions. The theme of The Sword of Shannara is, Be brave, and you can achieve anything. Helped to defeat the Warlock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Omer Fast vs. Gary Hill Video Artist For my final I have selected Omer Fast CNN Concatenated and Gary Hill Incidence of Catastrophe from the videos screened in class this semester. The experience from watching both Fast Hill video was very interesting in the way how memory was mediated. These two videos used personal, and recollection of memory, but both very far apart in how memory is conceived in their work. I will give my views on how each video artist applied their problem of memory in the following. In CNN Concatenated, Fast creates a monologue into a collage of different news reporters used to narrate something they normally wouldn t read off a teleprompter. The video is edited precisely by mixing each reporter word for word to deliver a message. A message... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I remember being in the ICU room on morphine to ease the intense pain not knowing that my life was hanging by a thread. They didn t want to tell me, but it hit me after noticing that my family members where coming and going in pairs holding back tears. Thinking about that message, I was scared at that time but didn t want my family to notice. It was hard for me to accept so I prayed and asked if it s my time, take me, if not, heal me. So, yeah the message sort of hit home in that manner. Hill s Incidence of Catastrophe, was very different from what I experienced in Fast video. Hill made himself the protagonist from the novel Thomas The Obscure by Maurice Blanchot. Hill s idea on this video derived from what he read and recreated the story himself based on personal memory. I felt the protagonist in the video was trapped in a bad dream and consumed by the words from the novel. There where scenes where he found himself running frantically through the woods giving me the impression he was trying to escape something or someone. He was attached to the novel so much that his presence at the dinner table felt unwelcomed that everybody stopped talking to each other. It was complicated understanding how everybody became insane near the end. The video ends with the protagonist laying down in the fetal position naked in his own excrement and mumbling unrecognized words. Both videos where very different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the film I got a message that the director of the movie wanted the audience to perceive. Which was about courageous and perseverance. Gladiatoris filmthat is going to encourage individuals to persevere through life obstacles. The film will teach individual the importance in believing in yourself and one having courage. What was amazing about the main character Maximus courageous and perseverance is that he was able to instill those characteristics to people around him. That is wonderful trait to have. Furthermore, 802.11ac s chipset also supports 2.4GHz band, to supports 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN and other previous standard, to provide backward compatibility. 4.1.1 Why 802.11ac is 5 GHz only? As we all know 5GHz frequency are poor performance on long distance transmission and through, we may want to ask why they remove 2.4GHz from 802.11ac. We now commonly used Wi Fi basically work in 2.4G wireless frequency band, using 802.11b / g protocol. But as more and more equipment is added to the 2.4GHz, the channel became very crowded between 2.4 to 2.485GHz, because too many electronic devices are working in this band (e.g. wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, Bluetooth and other). The crowded channel will make the equipment to seize resources. For example, we are all connected to same wireless router, everyone s computers and routers must communicate, if only one computer, it is very simple, it can take dialogue with router, because there ... • 7. Essay On The Crucible Charlie Chaplin Arthur miller s play the crucible and the film the king in New York directed by Charlie Chaplin explores the way politics and people are intertwined. Both these composers, through their texts, sagaciously convey the notion of how oppressive politics can be. They instil on the responder of the way in which politicscan ruin and lead both people and societies to destruction when given too much power. Arthur miller and Charlie Chaplin were profoundly affected by the mass hysteria of communism led by the politician Joseph McCarthy that happened in America in the 1950 s. They suffered under the political tyranny of the house of Un American activities (HUAC) when they were accused of supporting the communist ideology. Amid the political disarray, Chaplin was exiled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is revealed through the character Abigail. Abigail s control of others is demonstrated when she smashes betty across the face . Through the stage direction, miller conveys the power and authority Abigail possesses. Abigail resorts to such actions due to the conformity of theocratic societies which deemed people who danced as devils. The extent to which she is willing to go to hide this fact is portrayed when she threatens the girls by stating the she will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you . Through the high modality of her threatening voice, the responder glimpses the power motivation can bring in a political system that seeks to oppress others. Moreover, Abigail challenges the theocratic society through the symbolism of her rising up to Danforth, who is seen as the embodiment of the theocratic society. Through this stage direction, miller demonstrates the way rebellion can be engendered by political systems that repress its people. Once you divorce, you have the right to keep your husband s last name, return to your maiden name or heck, make up a whole new name of your choosing. And in most states, it s relatively easy to make a change, assuming your attorney included a clause in the divorce decree that gave you the right to change your name. It s usually standard, but in recent months, we ve heard from several divorcees that wanted to return to their maiden names but didn t because that little clause wasn t included in the decree. When checking into the matter, we learned that exclusion of the clause requires you to make a formal request via an attorney and appear in court. And of course, all that is going to cost more money. Guanacaste is the major regin for Costa Rican folk music, especially pre Columbian styles like the Danza del Sol and Danza de la Luna of the Chorotega, who also made popular the ancient quijongo (a single string bow and gourd resonator) and native oboe, the chirimia. Costa Rica s population never developed a major rhythm or style that became a major part of popular music, and Costa Rica has not produced a great literary or other artistic tradition. There have been exceptions, such as the Costa Rican landscape school of painting in the 1920s. In the late 1980s local artists and bands became famous for having their own original material, such as JosГ© Capmany, CafГ© con Leche and Inconsciente Colectivo; some of them had fans from outside of Costa Rica, like Editus, a Grammy winning contemporary jazz ensemble. At that time a popular Latin genre developed, chiqui chiqui as it was known, led by bands such as Los Hicsos and La Banda. Chiqui chiqui was a commercial approach to music and soon disappeared. Instead of being merely an economic necessity, an occupation is a reflection of an individual s personality. For example, a more artistically inclined individual may choose an occupation that requires creativity, such as hair dressing. The Court upheld the constitutionality of the law, stating that it serves a legitimate state interest to protect the public from fraud and other deceptive practices (482). Though, the Court found this specific law constitutional, they emphasize that similar kind of laws are invalid when [regulations] have no relation to such calling or profession . . . they can operate to deprive one of his right to pursue a lawful vocation (482). San Francisco, California had a law that required those who owned a wooden building and used it as a storefront for a laundry business to obtain a permit from the board of supervisors. The board of supervisors were given great discretion in how they granted permits under the law (482). The Court, in Yick Wo v. Hopkins, held that the law was unconstitutional based on its discriminatory nature; Chinese owners of laundries were the victims of this state sanctioned discriminatory, since they were usually denied permits when they applied (482). Nebbia v. New York is the case that marks the beginning of the Court s constitutional deference to state governments in regard to law and regulations that inhibit employment (482). Smart phone navigation systems are one of the many ways that they can assist drivers while on the road. GPS navigation has evolved from simple turn by turn navigation, into something more. Bartlett and Spinelli also mention a feature in which drivers can choose whether they want to detour around certain obstructions like car accidents, lane closings, and obstructions of that nature. Averting these types of obstructions gives the driver a much safer route to their destination, as well as eliminates the threat of a possible collision, which tends to occur most frequently in those areas. They state how this simplifies finding those trouble spots, and how it eliminates flicking through various radio stations while trying to get traffic info, especially since the radio tends to focus on the major accidents, and sometimes misses the other obstructions. Bartlett and Spinelli expand upon this, and go into detail on how it works: With a traffic service, the navigation device will receive periodic updates based on your driving path or (if entered) programmed destination. It can provide on screen alerts and even indicate the traffic flow rate. Usually the driver can tap a traffic icon to receive info on how long the delay is, what type of obstruction (accident, construction, lane closing), and then decide whether or not to detour around a trouble spot. Reservations agents should confirm the rate over the telephone at the time the guest makes the reservation. In fact, most guests requesting a reservation will not book a room without receiving a confirmed rate. The agent should reinforce the guest s decision to stay at the property and thank the guest for his or her business. It is essential for reservations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This statue is a female figure with wings, wearing a flowing gown. It s said to represent Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory, and her winning in battle. It shows various elements of the Hellenistic period, such as the use of space and dimension. The Snake Goddess is a 1600 BCE figurine found in 1903, in Knossos, Crete by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans. • 41. Art Criticism Of The Baroque Era The Musicians In art criticism, the word Baroque came to be used to describe anything irregular, bizarre, or otherwise departing from established rules and proportions, (Britannica, 2016). Caravaggio, born Michelangelo Merisi (1571), an Italian painter, can be said almost single handedly to have created the Baroquestyle during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. None other can be more appropriately defined as Baroque than Caravaggio; his character, like his art, was confrontational and uncompromising, and both loved and hated. He introduced a powerfully frank realism and dramatic, theatrical lighting and gesture into Italian Baroque art. Caravaggio s unvarnished realism and tenebrism influenced nearly every important European artist of the seventeenth century. (Stokstad, Cothren). By the end of the 16th century, art began to break away from the refined and disciplined style of mannerism, heavily influenced by the Counter Reformation of the Church, and emergence of powerful monarchies. This movement comes to be known as the Baroque Era. Baroque artists were particularly focused on natural forms, spaces, color, and the use of light in order to create a strong emotional experience; almost theatrically, inviting the viewer to participate in the story. The Catholic Church found itself needing to influence and rebuild its following; turned its attention to the arts. There are many factors that may have contributed to the Spanish Conquistadors ability to defeat and conquer a city of more than 200,000 people (LoМЃpez LujaМЃn Levin, 2005). Two of these factors were the introduction of small pox to the Mesoamerican people and the alliances that Henan CortГ©s forged with enemies of the AztecEmpire. The Aztecs gained economically through warfare and did not care to control territorially. They were more concerned with tribute to bring in and support TenochtitlГЎn, than the land itself (Paine, The Aztecs, 2015). While scholars have disagreed about the direct influence of Seneca on Elizabethan drama. The Elizabethan era was a time of relative hope and confidence. In the early seventeenth century, however, the national mood seems to have become tense and anxious, partially because James was not as skillful a ruler as Elizabeth. • 56. Physics Of Hot Air Balloon Experiment Physics The following report explains the results of a model hot air balloon experiment that replicates a previous incident in which the temperature in the envelope was heated to a point until it was burned. After assessing the researched and calculated data, the assertion of the air in the balloon becoming too hot to lift the mass will be validated. The physics related to the operation of hot air balloons is essentially the use of hot air to create a buoyant force and generate lift. A hot air balloon is made of a large bag called the envelope, a wicker basket or gondola hung underneath and a burner located beneath the hole in the envelope to heat the air in the envelope. This heated air causes a buoyant force to occur (Edmonds, 2008). When an object is submerged in a fluid, it appears to weigh less than when it is outside of the fluid. The weight of the mass acts downwards, but when it is immersed in fluid, an upthrust or buoyant force is exerted by the fluid upwards (Edmonds, 2008). The buoyant force occurs because the pressure in a liquid or gas increases with increasing depth. Therefore, the pressure at the lower surface of a submerged object is greater than the pressure at its upper surface. Diagram 1 shows an object that has the same density as water. It is found that the object is in static equilibrium, tending neither to rise nor sink (Nave, 2014).
