Parable Of The Prodigal Son Thesis Statement
INTRODUCTION
My thesis statement is about how the Parable of the Prodigal Son can be used to understand the
mercy of God.
I will show the reader the different ways we can understand the mercy of God in the Parable of
the Prodigal Son through the following sections that describe the process of mercy as a conversion,
from who are the main characters in the parable within the gospel of Luke to how that mercy is
destroyed by the different actions of the human being.
The (1) first section is about who are the human beings in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, their
principal role and actions in the story followed by; (2) section two about the self awareness of the
Prodigal Son, who was truly the prodigal son and what he desired in life; (3) the ... Show more

The Parable of the Prodigal Son is extremely rich in meaning, especially in mercy. Mercy
constitutes the center of Christian spirituality and of our life in Christ; it is a very clear and
profound representation of the reality of the human being when he does not appreciate the
goodness and love of God. The parable of the Prodigal Son presents the moment in which the
youngest son moves away from the father in a selfish way, disregarding the goodness of the
fatherly love, to begin an uncertain journey that he believes will bring him to fuller and more
abundant life, and he departs in search for freedom and happiness.
The parable describes, then, a progress; slow at first, but triumphant at the end when he returns,
with a broken heart and freely abandoned, to his father s house. The God of Mercy in the parable
invites the human being to discover the meaning of life through the experience of the lost son who
begins to discover himself as a human being and reveals himself before his

Dr Moreau Hierarchy
In the Island of Dr. Moreau, the characters are placed in an abstract hierarchy that is stressed
throughout the novel. With Dr. Moreau placed at the top, he has power and control over all of
the other inhabitants of the island. Moreau single handedly created an empire of beast folk who
worship him as if he were a god. Apart from these beasts, Montgomery also aids Moreau in his
quest for creating the perfect being, placing him below Moreau in the hierarchy. Prendick is by far
the least dominant of the group. Therefore, he is placed last for his inability to take control over
certain situations. However, his reckless personality and random moments of dominance proved to
overtake even the most powerful being on the island Moreau. In this

Housing Affordability in Australia Essay
Background
Housing Affordability in Australia has become the focus point for urban planners in recent years.
In particular, South East Queensland (SEQ) has experienced significant pressure as the demand
for property and affordable dwellings increases and population growth in the region continues.
The issue has come to the forefront in discussions for local governments in the region and there
is a real need to address the problem of housing affordability. The subject of affordability is
complex and is contributed to by a number of factors including the impost created by Council
processes, which is the scope of the HAF T5 Project.
The need to reduce these imposts is a key driver for continued improvement in Council processes to

Part 4 Recommendations (To Follow)
Improvement Program including regional and council specific recommendations.
The underlying intention of this document in its current form (Parts 1 and 2) is to establish an As
Is picture, so to speak, of a Council s development assessment processes.
Parts 1 and 2 will be presented to Council for validation and discussion with HAF representatives.
File Survey Overview
HAF T5 programme Objectives
The aim of the Target 5 Days (HAF T5) project is to reduce government s impact on the
development assessment process through reductions in assessment time. This will reduce the
holding costs and infrastructure costs for applicants, contributing greatly to the bottom line
overheads experienced by developers, both professional and non professional (without considering
the greater issue of land supply).
The objectives of HAF T5 project are to deliver process reform such that Councils in SEQ will
deliver:
Reduced assessment timeframe for 95% of residential development applications; and
75% reduction in approval timeframe for residential developments with a five day turn around for
low risk/complying applications.
Residential Application Focus
The typical types of applications that were surveyed are:
Reconfiguration of lots up to 50 lots;
Dual Occupancies (Duplexes);
Multiple Unit Developments (generally 6 or less);
Boundary Realignments; and
Houses in overlays (e.g. character,

Comparing and Contrasting the Movie and Natalie Babbitt s...
Do you know a book called Tuck Everlasting which is written by Natalie Babbitt existed in this
world? It is a very interesting novel with a very sad ending. It s a story about a girl, who
discovered a very dangerous secret about a particular spring water. When you drink the water, it
makes you immortal. A movie on this book was produced later on. Things change when you have to
audition something that is written. And so, the movie Tuck Everlastingwas very different from the
book Tuck Everlasting. Winnie Foster, a ten year old girl, discovered a very dangerous secret about
the springwater in the woods her parents owned. She found out that if the spring water is drunk, it
makes one immortal. Winnie didn t understand what it was like being... Show more content on

Soon, they became deeply in love with each other and they kissed nearby a crackling fire.
Winnie was a little girl in the book so, of course, she didn t kiss Jesse. Even though the two liked
each other, Winnie, unfortunately, didn t want to live forever like Jesse so she chose the right
way for her. Jesse was very sad in both the movie and the book. When Winnie saw Jesse drinking
the spring water (which was the key to immortality) Mae, Miles and Jesse kidnapped her and
took her away on their horse. That was in the book but in the movie; Miles took Winnie away on
his horse and left Jesse behind. That might be because the horse couldn t carry four people and
run at the same time. Sometimes, because of problems like that, some of the parts in the book
are changed in the movie. Miles was very mean in the movie. He s always angry at something and
he s very moody. Miles was a very grumpy person, maybe because he is a married man, when he
turned immortal. His wife sensed something fishy about the Tucks family and moved out of
their household. His wife and children died as time passed by, and he was left behind. He must feel
very sad. So he took a role of a big brother and tried to abandon Jesse from liking Winnie. He didn t
want his brother to feel the way he feels if Winnie died, or maybe it was just plain jealously
because Jesse got to be in love with a girl and he did not. A man in the yellow suit was doing a little

Examples Of Racism In Remember The Titans
Remember the Titans
How does gerry overcome his own racism throughout the film Remember the Titans directed by
Boaz Yakin?
My essay is about the issue of racism, how it is still alive today and that it can be overcome.
Racism is a far reaching issue in almost all countries around the world. It can be found in wealthy
societies, poor societies, sports, politics,in friendship groups, in the workplace, schools in fact
every where. Even though we have had civil wars, world wars and acts of terrorism through history
and today, racism is very much alive. All though this is all sad it can be overcome and in Rember
the Titans it is.
In the beginning of the movie our character Gerry Bertier is a successful footballer and captain for
his team The Titans from TC Williams high school.
Gerry is a white middle class student who is moving through the end of boy hood in t manhood. He
feels he has a lot of responsibilities. Gerry is openly able to talk about his feelings for black people
and coloured people right from the beginning but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gerry is good at football and finishes his sentence with captain . Gerrys face reflects realization
that his leadership has been racist by using the black guys to make the white guys look better. Most
significantly this film shows that it can be overcome in the hospital scene, Gerry raises his left hand

The Day I Go To Jail
Why are you surprised? What would you expect from a person like me. My parents abandoned
me when I was 16. I was of my own and had to fend for myself in the City of Cleveland. I had no
money,no home, and no direction. I had no one to take care of me. One day I decided I had to do
something in order to change my situation, and I didn t care what the consequence would be. While
walkingback to the alley where I slept and kept my belongings, I had passed a dry cleaners. I
decided at that moment this was where my plan was going to happen. Now I know, that if I was to
rob the little, old ladies dry cleaners, I would most likely get sent to jail for five years. However at

watching all the people garden, he was watching like a hawk. He cames up to me and said, Hey
there, haven t ever seen you around here before. My name is Sam. You seem like you are
looking for someone. Yeah, I am. I am looking for a little old lady, she runs the dry cleaners
down the street. Oh you must be talking about Sae Young. Did you hear that she had gotten
robbed a couple years back? She ain t really come out of her house that much because of it. This
just confirmed even though I already knew how my actions changed someone s life so
dramatically. I felt at that moment I had no choice but to admit that to Sam that I was the one
who robbed Sae Young. After I told Sam, I expected him to run just like Sae young or grab me
but he didn t. He said that it was a brave thing for me to admit and that I obviously seemed
remorseful and horrible about what I had done, but that I had changed. He said that it was
important for me to try to talk to her because it could make such a difference in her life. Sam told
me I should go to the dry cleaners tomorrow and talk to her and

Research Paper About Kindergartners
Fractions are a concept that many people would not normally associate with kindergartners.
Typically, fractions are not formally introduced and taught to children until around third grade.
However, the question remains; Are kindergartners capable of solving fraction problems even
though they have not been formally introduced to the concept yet? This article explores whether or
not preschool and kindergarten children aged 3 years 8 months to 6 years 6 months can solve
fractional problems using their limited knowledge about partitioning objects. This investigation
took place over the course of two months at a Montessori school in Mississippi where children
could move freely from one content area to the next.
The children in the study were given a problem that was framed socially, using a snack sharing
context that the children would likely find familiar. Such as Chris wanted to share six crackers
with his three friends. How could he do this fairly? The children were then asked to draw and
explain their answers. The younger children who were lacking fine motor skills or presented oral
difficulty were given and activity sheet prompt illustrating the number of people and items to be
shared. The children would then use the prompts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the friends. Some children focused on giving each child the same number of pieces, but they were
not attuned to the size of each piece. This shows that children at this age are often concerned with

The Wright Brothers
We were lucky enough to grow up in an environment where there was always much
encouragement to children to pursue intellectual interests; to investigate whatever aroused
curiosity (Wright). This is exactly what the Wright Brothers had done in 1899, they have
investigated whatever aroused their curiosity. The Wrights Brothers; Wilbur born in 1867 and
Orville born in 1871, they invented the first airplane that is controlled by man. They were
inspired in 1878, when their father gave them a toy helicopter that had a rubber band connected
to make it fly ( Wright Brothers ), something so simplicity sparked their curiosity. Before they
were experimenting with planes they owned their own newspaper; West Side News, also owned
a bike shop in 1892 until 1896 ( Wright Brothers ), they always thought about experimenting with
planes, but didn t really know how to start, in the back of the shop they would write in their
journals about their theories and wrote letters to their parents. The brothers started researching
about airplanes in 1899, learning how they worked by reading books, Wilbur experimented once
with a rectangular box when he squeezed the opposing corners, it made a helicoidal twist and
something so simple triggered the brothers to start experimenting with their first glider in 1900 (
Road to Kitty Hawk, The ). In 1901, was the beginning of big ideas when they changed the
structure of their aircrafts. The first plane they flew that was successful was invented in 1903 called

What Is The Theme Of A Walk In The Woods
A Walk in the Woods is story about how venturing out into the wilderness can be fun and can
reveal an exciting experience when walking or taking hikes. The author of the story, Bill Bryson,
tells the story about his journey while on expedition with his partner, Stephen Katz, and how it is
memorable story to remember when you are hiking or on a similar adventure. In the beginning
paragraphs of the story, Bill Brysonexplains that when hiking, your mind shouldn t be on one
main goal, but to act as a balloon tethered with a string. Your mind shouldn t be set on one main
goal, but to just to act in a kind of Mobile Zen mode. For example, this tells that Bill Bryson is

Summary Of The Hurt Locker
The word hurt locker comes from military slang that means bad and painful place. Right away
the title of this poem catches the reader s attention because people who served in the military can
relate to the message and imagery of the poem. This poem is describing the life of a combat
deployed soldier in Iraq or in war in general. It is trying to get the readers to believe and use their
imagination when the poem states Believe it when a twelve year old rolls a grenade into the room
(Kennedy, 2012, p.532). The vast majority of people cannot imagine a twelve year old carrying a
grenade and using it to harm others. The Hurt Lockerverse is not a rhymepoem. It is a poem that
can make the readers understand the dangers soldiers face in war. The Hurt Locker can be
viewed different by every reader depending on experience. Veterans view of The Hurt Locker is
an imaginary locker where soldiers put their emotions the images that traumatized them things
they do not want to deal with again. The locker is where one must put their feelings and
emotions aside and remember that those people are out to kill you. As a combat soldier, one
must collect souls and let God decide their faith. This poem has elements that the reader can
imagine as they are reading the poem. The Hurt Locker poem stated facts like Or when a sniper
punches a hole deep into someone s skull (Kennedy, 2012, p.532). Soldiers know what a sniper
rifle can do especially when it is shot at one s head. Soldiers can

Free Will Of The Media
Free will of the media carries with it certain responsibilities of truthfulness, equality, accurateness
and liability. I will talk about issues involving to media accountability in the present day. The media
are responsible for the greater part of the explanation and experience from which we construct up
our individual perceptive of the humanity and how it works. Our view of realism is based on media
communication that has been constructed and has attitude, interpretation and conclusion build in.
Lacking mass media, sincerity and liability are unattainable in present day democracy. Freedom
of the media carries with it convinced tasks of openness, justice, truthfulness and responsibility.
The control of the media to form and tear down individual morals comes with enormous duty.
The Oxford English Dictionary define the word responsible as having the commitment to do
something, as part of one s occupation or task: or having power over or concern for someone,
accountable to be called to the description. Responsibility is defined as the condition or reality of
being liable, the capability to act alone and make a decision, the status of being accountable for
one s presentation according to the conditions of reference of the Code of Professional Conduct.
Collectively, peoples tasks are the thing for which they are held responsible, failure to release an

Examples Of Human Errors In The Workplace
In this report the main errors that happen in a workplace are mentioned. The main factors that affect
the performance and the prevention techniques for the errors have been discussed. An example of a
disaster that occurred due to human error have been studied. Humans have a crucial role in
designing, installing, manufacturing and maintenance fields in industries. Humanerrors occur when
a person fails to perform a task that could lead to the stoppage or slowing down of work. It also
happens when there is a damage to equipment or property as a result of a person not doing their
tasks correctly. Human errors can be caused due to numerous factors and some of them are
mentioned below.
Poor lighting on work floor.
Lack of skill and training for the work force.
Problems with the design of the machines.
High levels of noise.
Unplanned layout of work.
Malfunctioning of tools.
Poorly maintained machines and operating procedures.
Generally human errors are divided into six different categories according to the different functions
carried out in an industry and they are:
Errors during operation.
Errors during assembly.
Errors during design.
Errors during inspection.
Errors during installation.
Errors during maintenance.
The errors that can happen in all of the above mentioned fields can again be categorised into:
Errors during action
Errors during checking.
Errors during information receival.
Errors during information transmission.

Capital Punishment Essay
Getting Rid of the Death Penalty
Capital punishment was a corrective measure that was widely used all over the world. It is
difficult to pin point the exact date of it s origin but it is a fact that it was practiced intensely
during medieval times. Crimes have occurred probably since the beginning of time and therefore
there was a need for a counter attack to minimize if not eradicate it completely. Laws were created
for this purpose, but like everything man creates they have proved imperfect and in some cases
entirely unacceptable.
In Britain, as James B Christoph[1] points out, the major cause for this trend was the social and
economic chaos brought about by the Industrial Revolution. The spread of poverty as well as child

Several variations occurred in different countries, for example in Denmark, it was more honorable
to be executed by the sword than by the axe. In Sweden, beheading was carried out by axe, and in
the case of a woman, after the execution, her body was cremated.
The guillotine, is thought to have been created shortly before the French Revolution.2[3] It
consisted of two huge uprights between which a hatchet was placed, and erected on a platform
reached by taking 24 steps up. The doomed was tied to a plank, kneeling down, exposing his head.
A cord attached to the huge hatchet suspended it and when the time came, all the executioner had to
do was cut the cord. Due to its impressive nature, the Constituent Assembly in France decreed that
everyone condemned to death would be executed by this method. Once again, these forms of
punishment prove too severe for any conceivable crime.
In present day society, with the introduction of human right for all, such a form of punishment is
considered disturbing and so it should. This chapter in human history should not be forgotten
though, because many people are still emotionally scarred for life be it friends or family of the
unfortunate sufferers of this act. Instead, it should be known by all and past on to future
generations so that even in the worst of times, such an act should never manifest itself in anyone
who has the power to introduce it back into

What Is The Tone Of In Cold Blood
Most people would consider a novel written to be both, objective and sympathetic, nearly
impossible. However, Capote could prove them wrong. He wrote In Cold Blood using a tone that
successfully portrays both of these attitudes. He writes in an objective way that is more explanatory
rather than judgmental, therefore unbiased. But he also looks deeper into the lives of the characters
and their family histories, making the reader feel sympathy for them throughout the story.
Capote is able to show a more sympathetic side by looking into the lives of the Clutter family,
giving background knowledge to the reader. Sympathy is felt when you realize that they were
killed for an unjustifiable reason and obviously did not deserve to die. Technically,

Identifying the risk, quantitative risk assessment, and qualitative risk assessment are used in
evaluating the risk.
Quantitative risk assessment Measures the risk by relating the probability of the risk occurring to
the possible severity of the outcome and then giving the risk a numerical value. The likelihood
depends on the control measures of the place, while the severity depends on magnitude of hazard.
[4]
Qualitative risk assessment This is based on personal judgement and is normally defined as high,
medium or low. This kind of assessment is usually satisfactory since the definition whether high,
medium or low determines the time frame in which further action is to be taken. High risk
situations need to be addressed in days, medium risk in weeks and low risks in months. [4]
Record Observations A formal reporting procedure needs to be implemented and incorporated into
the current risk assessment reporting procedures. The significant hazards and conclusions need to
be recorded for the assessment to be suitable and sufficient.

Cultural Syncretism In Greek Art
Greco Buddhist art is the artistic form of Greco Buddhism, a cultural syncretism between the
Classical Greek culture and Buddhism. Greco Buddhist art is characterized by the apparent
idealistic realism and in depth portrayal of Hellenistic art. Representations of the Buddha alongside
traditional Greek deities have helped outline the artistic canon for Buddhist art throughout Asia up
to the present. Additionally, it is also a strong example of cultural syncretism between eastern and
western civilizations and how the combination of the two cultures can redefine ideas of divinity.
Gods from the Greek mythological pantheon are incorporated in Buddhist representations,
displaying a strong combination of the two belief systems. A prominent depiction... Show more

Although both Herakles and Vajrapani are independent in tradition, blending them together creates a
new understanding of the ties between Greco Buddhism and how symbolism can be carried
throughout different cultures. As a syncretic combination of Western borrowing in concept and
iconography, the protector function of Vajrapani rendered the character distinctively qualified to
the personification of Herakles. Interpretations seen throughout currency and sculpture made an
undeniable impact and served as the forefront of Greco Guddhism as a canon of art. Additionally,
the knowledge of Herakles as a military valor and as a symbol of strength was apparent across
cultures; making it nearly impossible to deny how the Heraklean interpretation of Vajrapani served
as a cohesive force in forming Greco Buddhism as an artistic movement. Nontheless, the analogous
function of the two deities had much impact on Vajrapani being distinctively remembered as
Heraklean in nature, a form derided by western classical art. Surely this can be considered a fault of
the idolization of western culture in opposition to other cultures and how society perpetuates others

Annie Dillard s An Exploration Into The Way Human Beings
At some point in each of our lives we will take a step back and look at the way we are living our
lives and wonder if we are living them correctly. This is exactly what annie dilliard does in this
essay.
Annie Dillard s essay is just an exploration into the way human beings might live. When she sees a
weasel, she looks into the life of that weasel. Studying how it lives its life. Then she compares it to
humans. Human beings are creatures of caution and fear. We never fully live our lives because
we are too caught up with avoiding risks. We think, debate, and calculate each and every move
while weasels just simply act. A weasel is a creature of action and instinct. A weasel lives its life
the way it was created to, not questioning his motives, simply striking when the time is right. I agree
with Dillard s idea that we might learn something of mindlessness, something of the purity of living
in the physical senses and the dignity of living without bias or motive (Dillard 210).
The thing that keeps human beings from living the purest life possible, like the weasel is our
minds. To live freely we need to live our lives with less hesitation and fear. Dillard says we should
forget our ability of thought and choice all together. But the way we live should not be simply
thrown away for a chance to live completely free of bias or motive (Dillard 210). We have our
morals, conscience, emotions, and values. We have the ability to think and feel at the same time.
We can chose how

Advantage And Disadvantages Of Depreciation
4. Discuss about depreciation.
Depreciation is a method of allocating the cost of a tangible asset over the period in which the
assets are used. Most types of tangible assets such as machinery, vehicles, furniture, equipment and
buildings are depreciable. The only exception of tangible asset which is not depreciated is land
because land is not depleted over time. Depreciation also is a monetary value of an asset decreases
over time due to use, wear and tear, unfavourable market conditions or obsolescence of the property.
Besides, businesses depreciate long term assets for both tax and accounting purposes. For
accounting purpose, depreciation indicates how much of an asset s value has been used up. For
tax purposes, businesses can deduct the cost of the tangible assets they purchase as business
expenses. Depreciation is a non cash expense. In addition, depreciation is used in accounting to try
to match the expense of an asset to the income that the asset helps the company earn. For example,

The one of advantages of straight line method is easy to understand and simple to calculate. The
next advantage of straight line method is it may be suitable where an asset such as plant,
machinery and vehicles utilization is the same in each year. Straight line method is useful where
the pattern of economic benefits is hard to determine with precision. Another advantage of straight
line method is it is most appropriate for assets that are depleted as a result of the passage of time,
such as buildings, leases and patents.
The disadvantage of straight line method is it assumes the benefits contributed by an asset are the
same over the period in which the assets are used. Besides, straight line method may not give an
accurate measure of the loss in value or reduction in useful life. The other disadvantage is it may
not reflect the true pattern of asset s economic benefits.

Carl Jung; Theories of Personality
Final Paper Jung
Theories of Personality
In this paper I will show some of Jung s back ground, his theory, and speak of his contribution to
the world of psychology. His contribution was a great one, and it was said that many of his
theories were more complicated than many of the other psychologists of his time. As I read about
him, I began to appreciate his passion for this subject.
There were a few reasons that I chose him. First, I think it s amazing his contribution to figuring
out, personality types. Second, I find it interesting that he was spiritual, and incorporated some of
that spirituality to his theories. He was one of the theorists that took an approach to the ... Show

Personality Psychology helps an individual to define their human nature, and how that nature is
different from other people, but in various similar situations. For example, based on
Jung s theory of personality, an introvert may be shy, compared to an extrovert, when placed in a
social setting. Personality Psychology also might help a person to have a strong sense of oneself,
may assist them in understanding why they cope certain ways, or react to particular things that
happen. A therapist knowing this psychology can also shed light to their clients when helping
them to cope with life. According to Jung s theory, we all have some introversion, and some
extroversion, but are primarily one or the other. This is where people are similar. Human beings are
like each other because of our ability to have set backs, fears, failure, and have emotions that come
from within, when we experience hardship in life. Whether we react in an introverted way (inward
thought), versus extroverted (outward thought), is imperative and shows our similarity as well.
That we must all go through some form of process mentally, as a coping mechanism, when things
happen to us, or around us. Jung s theory on the Persona, anima, animus, shadow, and the
self(Ashford, 2011), can differentiate us as human beings.
Upon reading about the Shadow, it reminded me of the darker side of us. The part of people that is

In the year of 1492, most people instantly think of the Columbus discovery of the New World.
But in the joy of the discovery of the New World also comes the tragedy of the Old World. The
Spanish Inquisition was one of the darkest periods of time in Jewish history. Christianity s view
of other religions as inferior is portrayed in many well known pieces of literature, including one of
William Shakespeare s most famous plays, The Merchant of Venice. Towering over Shakespeare s
romantic comedy The Merchant of Venice is the tragic figure of Shylock, a man who represents the

A decision was eventually made and the Venetian Republic decided to allow them to remain and
ordered the segregation of the Jews of the city in a special quarter, formerly known as Ghetto Nuova,
a small, dirty island which became the world s first ghetto. A little later, the Ghetto Vecchio, was
added to the district. Hence the term Ghetto spread throughout Italy, where the Jewish quarters,
compulsorily established in subsequent years, became known officially by this name, (Roth. 273.)
Jews of Italian and German origin both moved into this ghetto. The Germans came to Venice to
seek refuge from of persecution in their former communities, while the Italians came from Rome
and from the South, where they faced anti Semitism.
Jews from the Levant, who practiced Sephardic traditions, moved into Ghetto Vecchio in 1541. The
Spanish and Portuguese Jews also came to Venice in the late 16th century and were the strongest
and wealthiest community in the ghetto. Many of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews were Marranos
and became Jewish again once moving to Venice. The Spanish/Portuguese and Levantines lived in
the Ghetto Vecchio.
The German, Italian and Levantine communities were independent, yet lived side by side to one
another. A hierarchy existed among them, in which the Sephardic/Levantine Jews were at the top
of the scale, Germans in the middle and Italians at the lowest rung on the hierarchal ladder.

Prosthetic Hands Research Paper
When my engineering teacher told my class we d be making prosthetic hands, many emotions ran
through my mind. I was excited, anxious, and most of all intrigued. I looked at the box laid in
front of me and my group everything we needed was in this LEGO Mindstorms NXT kit. We
opened it, studying the motors, sensors, and seven hundred LEGO pieces neatly organized inside.
These materials were paired with simple instructions: create a prosthesisthat could replace a human
hand. Our grade depended on it s ability to pick up objects: it had to be strong enough to grab full
water bottles, but sensitive enough to pick up a potato chip without damaging it. Faced with this
daunting task, my team and I immediately got to work. We attached pieces and... Show more

Advertising Campaign Is Not An Easy Task
Firms spend large amounts on advertising, estimated to reach $600b in 2015 , this spending
represents sunk costs . Increases in spending will not necessarily prove successful; moreover an
effective campaign will engage consumers and provide positive brand attitudes. For this reason this
area of research is important and should be noted. Increasing the effectiveness of one s advertising
campaign is not an easy task; there are many issues that have to be acknowledged and, more
importantly, understood. A plethora of research has been undertaken regarding consumer
behaviour; one only needs to look at the sheer volume of academic articles and books on the topic.
There are however several categories within consumer behaviour that a firm can target dependant
on their product offering. Exposure, memory and attitude pose these issues. Foremost exposure
refers to the process by which the consumer comes in to physical contact with a marketing stimulus
and they can be exposed to this stimulus during any stage of their decision making process.
Exposure is mostly affected by three factors; the position of the advert in mediums (e.g. TV or
print); product distribution; and shelf placement. Furthermore consumer memory refers to the
persistence of learning over time ; information is retrieved both consciously and unconsciously.
Such memories can be retained for any given period of time and stem from experiences and
evaluations. Finally attitude is an evaluation a consumer expresses

Alfred Hitchcock Vertigo Themes
Alfred Hitchcock might be history s most respected director among both the critics and the public. I
think He made Vertigo to celebrate the entertainment we love about the movies, yet ones that, upon
closer inspection, reveal a deeper understanding of how techniques work wonders on the
subconscious. Vertigo might be one of his greatest movies of all time and should credit more often

entire film. The themes I recognized throughout the movie are love, guilt, and illusion. There can

healthy relationship? Scottie can t ever love Judy for who she is; he has to turn her into
Madeleine to feel anything at all but I don t think we can ever call that love. Also, Hitchcock
manifests love in the acting by showing it in the beginning, middle, and end of the movie. He
shows much Madeline cares about Scottie and vice versa. The next theme I discovered in
Vertigo was guilt. When Scottie sees his fellow policeman fall to his death, he s disabled not
only from acrophobia, but also by a crushing sense of guilt. Even if he doesn t say so explicitly,
we sense that Hitchcock is zooming the camera on Scottie because he believes that he caused the
officer s death and the officer was trying to save Scottie s life. Also, I think getting involved with
saving Madeleine may have been a way to get rid of some of that guilt. When he thinks his fear of

Sonnet CXVI, written by William Shakespeare, is an epic attempt to describe what true love is
and what true love is not. Shakespeare utilizes numerous rhetorical devices, vivid imagery, and in
depth expression to show that if love is true, it is constant and does not waver in the face of
challenges or obstacles (Line 3). SonnetCXVI is still read today due to the fact that it gives a
beautiful representation of what real love should be like. Therefore, due to its meaning and
expression, Shakespeare s Sonnet CXVI should still be read today.

Electromagnetic Tracking Research Paper
The implementation of electromagnetic tracking (EM) to verify nasogastric tube placement is a
new concept that can provide better and safer patient care. Many people die of improper
placement of nasogastric tube each year. The misplacement of these tubes, if not verified correctly,
can cause severe injury to the patient or even death. Fundamentals of Nursing, believe that X ray
is the best way to verify placement (Potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall, 2013). In the Journal of Human
Nutrition and Dietetics and the British Journal of Nursing they both find that Electromagnetic
tracking is the safest way. It is important to check for verification because this type of harm is
preventable. New evidence based practice states that the use of electromagnetic tracking is safer
versus the use of pH, X ray, and CT scanning (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Another benefit to using this
method is that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is so crucial to confirm the tube placement because of possible harm that can be done to the
patient. About 1.9% of feeding tubes are misplaced every year. This can lead to pneumothorax
in 1 in every 5 patients and dead in 1 in 39 patients (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Using X ray to
confirm placement would be too late to prevent lung trauma. PH is done also but is not always
accurate and should not be used solely as proof to confirm placement. Waiting on the confirmation
of placement can delay the administration of treatment or nutrition. Using the EM tracking system
the patient is less likely to have the tube enter the lungs. While a patient is unconscious their gag
reflex is often impaired (Potter et al., 2013). This increases the patient s risk for aspiration. When
inserting the tube in an unconscious patient there is a greater risk for harm. Potter suggests that X
ray is the better option for confirmation of placement but X ray exposure can also be harmful to the
patient (Windle E. et al.,

The Matrix Movie Analysis

Final Essay: Question 1
In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary
place where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and
Avatar, 2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different
aspects of perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and
outcomes of each film.
The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or
not. The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The
Matrix is a computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume
they are just living a regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by
machines that are trying to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in
this movie. Either they are being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to
save Zion, the world they live in. According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian
usually consist of people in which they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact
words I would use to describe the humans that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even
given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives
of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of bondage, so they can see their reality and work
towards making life better in the real word.
The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are
human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped
when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious
stone that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of
the natives living there. The setting Pandora is a very mystical place and has many animals, or
monsters, from a human s perspective. It is such a foreign place that humans are slowly adjusting to
better understand it. The Matrix deals with the human setting of the dystopia, and

Federal Budget And The Budget
It is no secret, the federal budget is in a major deficit. The federal government continues to borrow
money to finance obligations that include Medicare, Social Security, military defense, federal
salaries and other programs. The more the government borrows; the deeper the country sinks into
debt (Krulick, 2015). As federal debt grows, the congress raises the allowable debt ceiling. The
Congressional Budget Office estimated the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was $17.3 trillion in
2014 and that the federal budget deficitwas $506 billion ( Congressional Budget Office, ).
I believe the sources I have used to research this date are credible. The Congressional Budget
Office claims to be a nonpartisan agency which makes no recommendations on policy. The agency
simply analyses budgets at the congressional level. Throughout my research, all sources reported
similar information regarding the budget. It is possible the information related to the federal
budget could be a skewed statistic or propaganda from one or another political party.
I determined the data related to the federal budget to be supportive of the Republican Party. The
Republican Party potentially may have constructed inaccurate information to help solicit votes for
an upcoming election or general support of their political party. It would be in the Republican
Party s favor to suggest a higher debt than the actual debt; for the reason that politicians may
emphasize the costs of domestic welfare programs that liberals

The Importance Of A Comfort Zone As A Resident Assistant...
Introduction
A comfort zone is a relaxing safe space in which people are familiar with because it causes no
anxiety or stress. In life, each of us will be in uncomfortable situations that are outside of our
comfort zone. However, we have to be become accustomed in environments that are normally
perceived as uncomfortable to experience what others may have to deal with on a daily basis.
Additionally, this applies to social workers. We may deal with clients or different situations that
are out of our comfort zone. However, we must overcome it to be more aware, as well as
completing the job to the best of our abilities. For instance, a strongly devoted Baptist African
American male may be uncomfortable attending a LGBT Pride parade due to his beliefs.
Nonetheless, this experience may change his perspective on individuals from the LGBT
community and cause him to not be as biased or judgmental. This paper will entail my personal
experience of being outside of my comfort zone as a Resident Assistant for the University of Texas
at Arlington.

In accounting, the accounts that record the values of individual items and phenomenons can be

construct my policy for sharing information with students by FERPA guidelines. While I would
allow the release of information in following FERPA regulations, I would strongly advise for
counselors to still be mindful when releasing information. I would suggest that they only release
information with their upmost discretion and for circumstances where not only FERPA permits,
but that it also seems to be of benefit for the student. As many of the guidelines state, the schools
may release information in certain circumstances, but they do not have to. This is what I would
relay to my counselors.
Directly Releasing Information Directory information. The first policy rule would be that
counselors may release directory information if the student has been informed of the school s
ability to release that information and has not submitted a written objection. If the student has been
made aware of the type of information that the school determines to be directory and did not notify
the school that he or she did not agree to the release, then this directory information may be
released. However, I would still advise counselors to use their discretion and note if releasing this
information to parents would actually benefit the student. If it will not, then I would advise against
releasing the information. I would also encourage my counselors to always consult with FERPA
when they are

The Procurement Structure Of An Organization Essay
The Procurement Structure Figure 1 Organization Flow Chart The delivery method chosen here
is the Construction Manager at Risk. The explanation for selection of this method is given
below: A strict time frame: The time frame alloted is an overall period of 2 years in which only
14 months is alloted for the construction processes. So CM at risk would be a better option since
a construction manager can be appointed early on in the design phase and he can work closely
with the client s professional team and even offer advice on the project. A stringent Budget: The
budget given is a very strict one of $60 million. A proposal of using a GMP contract would be
beneficial to the client as the client can t allow more that the alloted $60 million. Flexibility: This
method offers good flexibility to the client throughout the project. He can make changes and look
for feasibility to make the changes with the Construction manager added in the team. Complexity
The project taken under consideration is considerably complex enough and of higher value and
might very well require sophosticated management techniques and hence this delivery method
seems to be a viable option. Love, Skitmore, Earl (1998) put forth the results obtained from
consultants in the form of a table which help us in the selection of a procurement method according
to the priorities of the client. Table 1 below shows the same. Table 1 Mean Utility factors of criteria
for procurement method The Structure: The

Psychological Analysis and History of Richard Trenton Chase
Psychological Analysis and History of Richard Trenton Chase The Killer Introduction Richard
Trenton Chase, known as the Vampire of Sacramento and the Dracula Killer, was easily one of
the most brutal serial killers in American history. His disturbingchildhood lead to even more
disturbing behavior during his childhood and adolescence, eventually becoming a sadistic and
psychotic adult. As serial killers go, he is a trifecta of nightmarish behavior from cannibalism and
mutilation, rape and necrophilia, to attacking people in their homes out of the blue, he is the kind
of killer that one think s of as a monster. The type that makes one lock their doors and indeed, he
once claimed that he entered homeswhere door were unlocked because he viewed it as an
invitation.Below, his background and psyche will be picked apart so that his erratic and senseless
behavior can be better understood. To do this, one must start at the very beginning, and
followthrough until the end his apprehension and time in incarceration. His methods and MO are
veryuncommon, and thus require a more detailed and personalized analysis. Childhood and Family
History Richard Trenton Chase was born to a mentally ill mother on May 23d of 1950, in
SantaCruz, California (Storey, Strieter, Tarr, Thornton, 2005). His father was alcoholic and
strictlyauthoritarian in him parenting methods, and was confrontational with his wife. The two

Descriptive Essay On Genji
I DID IT! I nearly hollered across my home. I BESTED you game, I am BETTER than you! That
night (A fairly alluring night) was not a night to stargaze, that night was the night to play video
games until the legendary 2 minute game was won. I would would triumph even if it had meant
staying up until 3 AM. I was placed in another game in the fictional city of Hanamura, Japan. It
was about time to get the 2 minute game in the books, and it seemed like the game wanted me to
achieve it aswell. The first thing that the game had done for me was put me on the attacking
team, which makes it so that I could actually set the speed by if we were good enough that we
could capture both points in 2 minutes (explanation later). Another thing that was prepared for
by the game is that the character that I play as the most, Genji, is from Hanamura. That does
nothing for me, but it is pretty cool that the character that I normally play as was possibly going
to get the 2 minute game in his home town. The good thing about Hanamura is that it is attacker
friendly and is the best map for getting the 2 minute game. Genji is a character that shoots ninja
stars from his arm and looks like a 100% ninja robot, but is part human and has a human shape. He
can climb walls and double jump as passive abilities. Is 2 special moves are a dash move and being
able to deflect bullets for a few seconds. He has a gargantuan katana as his ultimate. Now all that I
have to do is select Genji before anyone

The pleasant suburb is recommended for families, young couples, professionals, singles,
retirees, hipsters, country lovers, and tourists because of its pleasant and peaceful
neighbourhood. The population density is not high so it s not crowded like the residential areas
in the city proper. Its cost of living is also moderately affordable. Anyone can easily feel at home
here because the locals speak languages other than English such as German, Greek, Italian,
Macedonian, and Cantonese. All the houses are separate from each other which give you a
bigger space of your own to customise your surroundings and backyard. The clean air and the
natural sceneries in the suburb are perfect if you re into hiking, jogging, and cycling. It s also
very accessible to Adelaide because it will only take you more or less than 45 minutes to get
there. Talunga Scaffidi Winery and Restaurant is a great place to go if you want to dine leisurely
and drink good wine. You can also send your kids to Kersbrook Primary School, Gumercha Primary
School, or Birdwood High School. Mortgage brokers in Kersbrook can look for the financial aid

Tournament is a kind of reward system where fixed rewards are used for a fixed group of people
and the distribution of rewards is based on the order of the participants performance (Lazear amp;
Oyer, 2009, p. 9). In this particular situation, four agents in one of Mitch amp; Murray s offices are
given a strong incentive to succeed in a sales tournament. Mitch amp; Murray uses a set of prizes
that diminish in value as a person s relative performance gets lower. The top seller will win himself
a Cadillac, the second will win himself a set of steak knives, and the others will be out of job
(Glengarry Glen Ross, n.d.). In response to the given prizes, four agents react in different ways.

The good leads are locked in the office manager s room and they will not be distributed until the
end of the contest. (Glengarry Glen Ross, n.d.). After he realizes that no matter how hard he work,
his sales performance will barely improve, he becomes desperate. At that point, the cost of effort
for him is too high which makes the prize unachievable, and thus provides no incentive for him
to exert effort anymore. With those old leads, luck becomes relatively more important to the
final success and effort relatively less important. In such case, workers will try less hard to win
because effort has a smaller effect on whether or not they win (Lazear amp; Oyer, 2009, p. 10).
This is why he soon gives up working on the old leads but to flatter, threaten, and bribe the office
manager to get good leads which can reduce the cost of his effort and diminish the importance of
luck. However, the result is quite unexpected His attempt to get good leads does not work out so
he finally helps Dave to steal and sell the good leads to another company. This result may not be
explained by tournament theory but can be explained by economic theories Homo economicus all
want to maximize their own profit or utility at the lowest cost (Homo economicus, n.d.). Stealing
and selling the leads may be a risky move but the profit it brings to Shelly exceeds the risk plus the
profit he may gain from working on the old leads, and that

The Importance Of A Common National Language
Common national language has consistently been a fundamental driving force to uphold national
bonding all over the globe. This can be recognized by historical examples ranging from those
found in Western countries to Asian countries, such as how French was adopted as a means to
reunify France as a whole country after the French Revolution and how Korea has made use of a
common Korean languageto unite the Three Kingdoms and to secure statehood. In this context,
common national language refers to a language, both written and spoken that has connections, de
facto or de jure with users and the territory they occupy and exists originally but is then forged to be
the first language to shape a politically desired national identity. To strengthen the national
solidarity, it has sometimes been proposed that a typical national language is indispensable for
accelerating the formation of an appropriate national identity. This essay will argue that common
national language is the key to sustain nationhood because users can gain a greater sense of
belongings and togetherness towards the nation. This will be asserted by demonstrating how a
particular concept can be stressed with a language while speaking and by showing how a common
national language could reduce the communication gap between nationals with different mother
tongues.
A key argument for adopting a universal national language is that speakers of a language can
incline to certain types of information while speaking (Mooney

Fix Auto is an auto body repair company based in Montreal that is looking for rapid worldwide
expansion. The external task environment in which Fix Auto operates in is one which has many
opportunities for Fix Auto, but also many threats.
Policial
Politically, governments are changing how Infrastructure spending is allocated. More taxpayer
dollars are being spent on mass transit initiatives such as the City of Calgary s green line project
which aims to create a new train corridor with the municipal and federal governments guaranteeing
a cumulative $3.08 Billion towards the project ( Green Line , 2016). The implications for the auto
industry, including fix auto is that the transit projects aim to reduce emissions by having less cars on

It is mentioned earlier that there are no locations in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and much of their
target market in the United States. Fix Auto needs to focus on their primary objective of
becoming the North American auto body repair chain. Fix Auto is experiencing overexpansion.
Overexpansion often occurs when business owners confuse success with how fast they can
expand their business (Schaefer, 2006, Overexpansion.). In a 2005 study done by the Law School
at the University of Chicago, It was found that of the chapter 11 small business Bankruptcies issued
in the United States, overexpansion contributed to a non trivial (Baird Morrison, 2005, Pg. 7, Para.
1) number of cases. The best method for expansion is steadily and to move to new countries one at
a time. (Schaefer, 2006, Overexpansion). Fix Auto should capitalize on their existing regions such
as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom before moving into new markets such as
Australia, South Africa and Turkey.
If Fix Auto desires to maximize corporate efficiency, they need to begin operating the differing
regions as separate companies with unique management and hubs. This way, each region is able to
have expertise in local legislation and cultural standards. They need to implement regional
strategies, offices, and management before opening branches in new countries and

The Theme Of Death In Three Poems
In what way has the theme of death been depicted in any three poems that you have studied in the
anthology, and in another three of your choosing. Comment on weather or not.
Death is a part of life. It has many aspects. Death is shown in different ways in the three chosen
poems. Everyone will face death at one point, whether it is a family member or a friend or even
themselves. Death is one of the main turning points in life. Death is where we understand the truth
of our lives. Firstly by showing the effect of war through the eyes of a war photographer. The
poem War photographer by Carol Ann Duffy . While the poem Mother In A Refugee Camp by

In the first tercet, Dylan Thomas tells his father to defy death. After the first line, however, he
generalizes about senescence, declaring that it should burn and rave against dying. In the second
tercet, the poet commences a series of characterizations of the types of men who rage against death.
The third tercet deals with good men who cry that their minute accomplishments might have shown
brilliantly in a more dynamic setting. The poet asserts that they too should rage against death. The
fourth tercet advises those who perceived and gloried in the light of inspiration and the
development of genius in others and in themselves, but whose actions impeded its progress, to defy
death.
Mid Term Break explores the theme of death. As in stanzaone its talks about isolation and funeral

  • 2. Parable Of The Prodigal Son Thesis Statement INTRODUCTION My thesis statement is about how the Parable of the Prodigal Son can be used to understand the mercy of God. I will show the reader the different ways we can understand the mercy of God in the Parable of the Prodigal Son through the following sections that describe the process of mercy as a conversion, from who are the main characters in the parable within the gospel of Luke to how that mercy is destroyed by the different actions of the human being. The (1) first section is about who are the human beings in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, their principal role and actions in the story followed by; (2) section two about the self awareness of the Prodigal Son, who was truly the prodigal son and what he desired in life; (3) the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Parable of the Prodigal Son is extremely rich in meaning, especially in mercy. Mercy constitutes the center of Christian spirituality and of our life in Christ; it is a very clear and profound representation of the reality of the human being when he does not appreciate the goodness and love of God. The parable of the Prodigal Son presents the moment in which the youngest son moves away from the father in a selfish way, disregarding the goodness of the fatherly love, to begin an uncertain journey that he believes will bring him to fuller and more abundant life, and he departs in search for freedom and happiness. The parable describes, then, a progress; slow at first, but triumphant at the end when he returns, with a broken heart and freely abandoned, to his father s house. The God of Mercy in the parable invites the human being to discover the meaning of life through the experience of the lost son who begins to discover himself as a human being and reveals himself before his ... With Dr. Moreau placed at the top, he has power and control over all of the other inhabitants of the island. Moreau single handedly created an empire of beast folk who worship him as if he were a god. Apart from these beasts, Montgomery also aids Moreau in his quest for creating the perfect being, placing him below Moreau in the hierarchy. Prendick is by far the least dominant of the group. Therefore, he is placed last for his inability to take control over certain situations. However, his reckless personality and random moments of dominance proved to overtake even the most powerful being on the island Moreau. In this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In particular, South East Queensland (SEQ) has experienced significant pressure as the demand for property and affordable dwellings increases and population growth in the region continues. The issue has come to the forefront in discussions for local governments in the region and there is a real need to address the problem of housing affordability. The subject of affordability is complex and is contributed to by a number of factors including the impost created by Council processes, which is the scope of the HAF T5 Project. Part 4 Recommendations (To Follow) Improvement Program including regional and council specific recommendations. The underlying intention of this document in its current form (Parts 1 and 2) is to establish an As Is picture, so to speak, of a Council s development assessment processes. Parts 1 and 2 will be presented to Council for validation and discussion with HAF representatives. File Survey Overview HAF T5 programme Objectives The aim of the Target 5 Days (HAF T5) project is to reduce government s impact on the development assessment process through reductions in assessment time. This will reduce the holding costs and infrastructure costs for applicants, contributing greatly to the bottom line overheads experienced by developers, both professional and non professional (without considering the greater issue of land supply). The objectives of HAF T5 project are to deliver process reform such that Councils in SEQ will deliver: Reduced assessment timeframe for 95% of residential development applications; and 75% reduction in approval timeframe for residential developments with a five day turn around for low risk/complying applications. Residential Application Focus The typical types of applications that were surveyed are: Reconfiguration of lots up to 50 lots; Dual Occupancies (Duplexes); Multiple Unit Developments (generally 6 or less); Boundary Realignments; and Houses in overlays (e.g. character, ... When Winnie saw Jesse drinking the spring water (which was the key to immortality) Mae, Miles and Jesse kidnapped her and took her away on their horse. That was in the book but in the movie; Miles took Winnie away on his horse and left Jesse behind. That might be because the horse couldn t carry four people and run at the same time. Sometimes, because of problems like that, some of the parts in the book are changed in the movie. Miles was very mean in the movie. He s always angry at something and he s very moody. Miles was a very grumpy person, maybe because he is a married man, when he turned immortal. His wife sensed something fishy about the Tucks family and moved out of their household. His wife and children died as time passed by, and he was left behind. He must feel very sad. So he took a role of a big brother and tried to abandon Jesse from liking Winnie. He didn t want his brother to feel the way he feels if Winnie died, or maybe it was just plain jealously because Jesse got to be in love with a girl and he did not. My essay is about the issue of racism, how it is still alive today and that it can be overcome. Racism is a far reaching issue in almost all countries around the world. It can be found in wealthy societies, poor societies, sports, politics,in friendship groups, in the workplace, schools in fact every where. Even though we have had civil wars, world wars and acts of terrorism through history and today, racism is very much alive. All though this is all sad it can be overcome and in Rember the Titans it is. In the beginning of the movie our character Gerry Bertier is a successful footballer and captain for his team The Titans from TC Williams high school. The Wright Brothers We were lucky enough to grow up in an environment where there was always much encouragement to children to pursue intellectual interests; to investigate whatever aroused curiosity (Wright). This is exactly what the Wright Brothers had done in 1899, they have investigated whatever aroused their curiosity. The Wrights Brothers; Wilbur born in 1867 and Orville born in 1871, they invented the first airplane that is controlled by man. They were inspired in 1878, when their father gave them a toy helicopter that had a rubber band connected to make it fly ( Wright Brothers ), something so simplicity sparked their curiosity. Before they were experimenting with planes they owned their own newspaper; West Side News, also owned a bike shop in 1892 until 1896 ( Wright Brothers ), they always thought about experimenting with planes, but didn t really know how to start, in the back of the shop they would write in their journals about their theories and wrote letters to their parents. The brothers started researching about airplanes in 1899, learning how they worked by reading books, Wilbur experimented once with a rectangular box when he squeezed the opposing corners, it made a helicoidal twist and something so simple triggered the brothers to start experimenting with their first glider in 1900 ( Road to Kitty Hawk, The ). Right away the title of this poem catches the reader s attention because people who served in the military can relate to the message and imagery of the poem. This poem is describing the life of a combat deployed soldier in Iraq or in war in general. It is trying to get the readers to believe and use their imagination when the poem states Believe it when a twelve year old rolls a grenade into the room (Kennedy, 2012, p.532). The vast majority of people cannot imagine a twelve year old carrying a grenade and using it to harm others. The Hurt Lockerverse is not a rhymepoem. It is a poem that can make the readers understand the dangers soldiers face in war. The Hurt Locker can be viewed different by every reader depending on experience. The locker is where one must put their feelings and emotions aside and remember that those people are out to kill you. As a combat soldier, one must collect souls and let God decide their faith. This poem has elements that the reader can imagine as they are reading the poem. • 12. Free Will Of The Media Free will of the media carries with it certain responsibilities of truthfulness, equality, accurateness and liability. I will talk about issues involving to media accountability in the present day. The media are responsible for the greater part of the explanation and experience from which we construct up our individual perceptive of the humanity and how it works. Our view of realism is based on media communication that has been constructed and has attitude, interpretation and conclusion build in. Lacking mass media, sincerity and liability are unattainable in present day democracy. Freedom of the media carries with it convinced tasks of openness, justice, truthfulness and responsibility. The control of the media to form and tear down individual morals comes with enormous duty. The Oxford English Dictionary define the word responsible as having the commitment to do something, as part of one s occupation or task: or having power over or concern for someone, accountable to be called to the description. Responsibility is defined as the condition or reality of being liable, the capability to act alone and make a decision, the status of being accountable for one s presentation according to the conditions of reference of the Code of Professional Conduct. • 14. Capital Punishment Essay Getting Rid of the Death Penalty Capital punishment was a corrective measure that was widely used all over the world. It is difficult to pin point the exact date of it s origin but it is a fact that it was practiced intensely during medieval times. Crimes have occurred probably since the beginning of time and therefore there was a need for a counter attack to minimize if not eradicate it completely. Laws were created for this purpose, but like everything man creates they have proved imperfect and in some cases entirely unacceptable. In Britain, as James B Christoph[1] points out, the major cause for this trend was the social and economic chaos brought about by the Industrial Revolution. The spread of poverty as well as child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several variations occurred in different countries, for example in Denmark, it was more honorable to be executed by the sword than by the axe. In Sweden, beheading was carried out by axe, and in the case of a woman, after the execution, her body was cremated. The guillotine, is thought to have been created shortly before the French Revolution.2[3] It consisted of two huge uprights between which a hatchet was placed, and erected on a platform reached by taking 24 steps up. The doomed was tied to a plank, kneeling down, exposing his head. A cord attached to the huge hatchet suspended it and when the time came, all the executioner had to do was cut the cord. Due to its impressive nature, the Constituent Assembly in France decreed that everyone condemned to death would be executed by this method. Once again, these forms of punishment prove too severe for any conceivable crime. In present day society, with the introduction of human right for all, such a form of punishment is considered disturbing and so it should. This chapter in human history should not be forgotten though, because many people are still emotionally scarred for life be it friends or family of the unfortunate sufferers of this act. Instead, it should be known by all and past on to future generations so that even in the worst of times, such an act should never manifest itself in anyone who has the power to introduce it back into ... He wrote In Cold Blood using a tone that successfully portrays both of these attitudes. He writes in an objective way that is more explanatory rather than judgmental, therefore unbiased. But he also looks deeper into the lives of the characters and their family histories, making the reader feel sympathy for them throughout the story. Capote is able to show a more sympathetic side by looking into the lives of the Clutter family, giving background knowledge to the reader. Greco Buddhist art is characterized by the apparent idealistic realism and in depth portrayal of Hellenistic art. Representations of the Buddha alongside traditional Greek deities have helped outline the artistic canon for Buddhist art throughout Asia up to the present. Additionally, it is also a strong example of cultural syncretism between eastern and western civilizations and how the combination of the two cultures can redefine ideas of divinity. Although both Herakles and Vajrapani are independent in tradition, blending them together creates a new understanding of the ties between Greco Buddhism and how symbolism can be carried throughout different cultures. As a syncretic combination of Western borrowing in concept and iconography, the protector function of Vajrapani rendered the character distinctively qualified to the personification of Herakles. Interpretations seen throughout currency and sculpture made an undeniable impact and served as the forefront of Greco Guddhism as a canon of art. Additionally, the knowledge of Herakles as a military valor and as a symbol of strength was apparent across cultures; making it nearly impossible to deny how the Heraklean interpretation of Vajrapani served as a cohesive force in forming Greco Buddhism as an artistic movement. Nontheless, the analogous function of the two deities had much impact on Vajrapani being distinctively remembered as Heraklean in nature, a form derided by western classical art. • 19. Annie Dillard s An Exploration Into The Way Human Beings At some point in each of our lives we will take a step back and look at the way we are living our lives and wonder if we are living them correctly. This is exactly what annie dilliard does in this essay. Annie Dillard s essay is just an exploration into the way human beings might live. When she sees a weasel, she looks into the life of that weasel. Studying how it lives its life. Then she compares it to humans. Human beings are creatures of caution and fear. We never fully live our lives because we are too caught up with avoiding risks. We think, debate, and calculate each and every move while weasels just simply act. A weasel is a creature of action and instinct. A weasel lives its life the way it was created to, not questioning his motives, simply striking when the time is right. I agree with Dillard s idea that we might learn something of mindlessness, something of the purity of living in the physical senses and the dignity of living without bias or motive (Dillard 210). The thing that keeps human beings from living the purest life possible, like the weasel is our minds. To live freely we need to live our lives with less hesitation and fear. Dillard says we should forget our ability of thought and choice all together. But the way we live should not be simply thrown away for a chance to live completely free of bias or motive (Dillard 210). We have our morals, conscience, emotions, and values. We have the ability to think and feel at the same time. We can chose how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Depreciation also is a monetary value of an asset decreases over time due to use, wear and tear, unfavourable market conditions or obsolescence of the property. Besides, businesses depreciate long term assets for both tax and accounting purposes. For accounting purpose, depreciation indicates how much of an asset s value has been used up. For tax purposes, businesses can deduct the cost of the tangible assets they purchase as business expenses. Depreciation is a non cash expense. In addition, depreciation is used in accounting to try to match the expense of an asset to the income that the asset helps the company earn. For example, if a ... Another advantage of straight line method is it is most appropriate for assets that are depleted as a result of the passage of time, such as buildings, leases and patents. The disadvantage of straight line method is it assumes the benefits contributed by an asset are the same over the period in which the assets are used. As I read about him, I began to appreciate his passion for this subject. There were a few reasons that I chose him. First, I think it s amazing his contribution to figuring out, personality types. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Personality Psychology helps an individual to define their human nature, and how that nature is different from other people, but in various similar situations. For example, based on Jung s theory of personality, an introvert may be shy, compared to an extrovert, when placed in a social setting. Personality Psychology also might help a person to have a strong sense of oneself, may assist them in understanding why they cope certain ways, or react to particular things that happen. A therapist knowing this psychology can also shed light to their clients when helping them to cope with life. According to Jung s theory, we all have some introversion, and some extroversion, but are primarily one or the other. This is where people are similar. Human beings are like each other because of our ability to have set backs, fears, failure, and have emotions that come from within, when we experience hardship in life. Whether we react in an introverted way (inward thought), versus extroverted (outward thought), is imperative and shows our similarity as well. That we must all go through some form of process mentally, as a coping mechanism, when things happen to us, or around us. Jung s theory on the Persona, anima, animus, shadow, and the self(Ashford, 2011), can differentiate us as human beings. Upon reading about the Shadow, it reminded me of the darker side of us. Hence the term Ghetto spread throughout Italy, where the Jewish quarters, compulsorily established in subsequent years, became known officially by this name, (Roth. 273.) Increases in spending will not necessarily prove successful; moreover an effective campaign will engage consumers and provide positive brand attitudes. For this reason this area of research is important and should be noted. Increasing the effectiveness of one s advertising campaign is not an easy task; there are many issues that have to be acknowledged and, more importantly, understood. A plethora of research has been undertaken regarding consumer behaviour; one only needs to look at the sheer volume of academic articles and books on the topic. There are however several categories within consumer behaviour that a firm can target dependant on their product offering. Exposure, memory and attitude pose these issues. Foremost exposure refers to the process by which the consumer comes in to physical contact with a marketing stimulus and they can be exposed to this stimulus during any stage of their decision making process. Exposure is mostly affected by three factors; the position of the advert in mediums (e.g. TV or print); product distribution; and shelf placement. Furthermore consumer memory refers to the persistence of learning over time ; information is retrieved both consciously and unconsciously. The next theme I discovered in Vertigo was guilt. When Scottie sees his fellow policeman fall to his death, he s disabled not only from acrophobia, but also by a crushing sense of guilt. Even if he doesn t say so explicitly, we sense that Hitchcock is zooming the camera on Scottie because he believes that he caused the officer s death and the officer was trying to save Scottie s life. Electromagnetic Tracking Research Paper The implementation of electromagnetic tracking (EM) to verify nasogastric tube placement is a new concept that can provide better and safer patient care. Many people die of improper placement of nasogastric tube each year. The misplacement of these tubes, if not verified correctly, can cause severe injury to the patient or even death. Fundamentals of Nursing, believe that X ray is the best way to verify placement (Potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall, 2013). In the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics and the British Journal of Nursing they both find that Electromagnetic tracking is the safest way. It is important to check for verification because this type of harm is preventable. New evidence based practice states that the use of electromagnetic tracking is safer versus the use of pH, X ray, and CT scanning (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Another benefit to using this method is that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is so crucial to confirm the tube placement because of possible harm that can be done to the patient. The Matrix Movie Analysis Danny Warren ANTH 2306 R11362526 Final Essay: Question 1 In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary place where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and Avatar, 2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different aspects of perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and outcomes of each film. The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or not. The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The Matrix is a computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume they are just living a regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by machines that are trying to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in this movie. Either they are being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to save Zion, the world they live in. According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian usually consist of people in which they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact words I would use to describe the humans that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of bondage, so they can see their reality and work towards making life better in the real word. The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious stone that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of the natives living there. The federal government continues to borrow money to finance obligations that include Medicare, Social Security, military defense, federal salaries and other programs. The agency simply analyses budgets at the congressional level. Throughout my research, all sources reported similar information regarding the budget. He believed in hard work and a tough mental state of mind from his men. He expected them to be physically fit and be able to handle themselves through the most rigorous conditions. Patton got his first tastes of action in pursuit of Mexico s legendary Pancho Villa in 1916 with the U.S. Cavalry. He was later transferred to the new Armored branch as the first U.S. Commander of Armor. • 42. Guidelines Of Guidelines On Policy Rules Policy Rules For the purposes of being in line with my legal and ethical responsibilities, I would construct my policy for sharing information with students by FERPA guidelines. While I would allow the release of information in following FERPA regulations, I would strongly advise for counselors to still be mindful when releasing information. I would suggest that they only release information with their upmost discretion and for circumstances where not only FERPA permits, but that it also seems to be of benefit for the student. As many of the guidelines state, the schools may release information in certain circumstances, but they do not have to. This is what I would relay to my counselors. Directly Releasing Information Directory information. The first policy rule would be that counselors may release directory information if the student has been informed of the school s ability to release that information and has not submitted a written objection. If the student has been made aware of the type of information that the school determines to be directory and did not notify the school that he or she did not agree to the release, then this directory information may be released. However, I would still advise counselors to use their discretion and note if releasing this information to parents would actually benefit the student. If it will not, then I would advise against releasing the information. I would also encourage my counselors to always consult with FERPA when they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Procurement Structure Of An Organization Essay The Procurement Structure Figure 1 Organization Flow Chart The delivery method chosen here is the Construction Manager at Risk. The explanation for selection of this method is given below: A strict time frame: The time frame alloted is an overall period of 2 years in which only 14 months is alloted for the construction processes. So CM at risk would be a better option since a construction manager can be appointed early on in the design phase and he can work closely with the client s professional team and even offer advice on the project. A stringent Budget: The budget given is a very strict one of $60 million. A proposal of using a GMP contract would be beneficial to the client as the client can t allow more that the alloted $60 million. Flexibility: This method offers good flexibility to the client throughout the project. He can make changes and look for feasibility to make the changes with the Construction manager added in the team. Complexity The project taken under consideration is considerably complex enough and of higher value and might very well require sophosticated management techniques and hence this delivery method seems to be a viable option. Love, Skitmore, Earl (1998) put forth the results obtained from consultants in the form of a table which help us in the selection of a procurement method according to the priorities of the client. That night (A fairly alluring night) was not a night to stargaze, that night was the night to play video games until the legendary 2 minute game was won. I would would triumph even if it had meant staying up until 3 AM. I was placed in another game in the fictional city of Hanamura, Japan. It was about time to get the 2 minute game in the books, and it seemed like the game wanted me to achieve it aswell. The first thing that the game had done for me was put me on the attacking team, which makes it so that I could actually set the speed by if we were good enough that we could capture both points in 2 minutes (explanation later). Another thing that was prepared for by the game is that the character that I play as the most, Genji, is from Hanamura. That does nothing for me, but it is pretty cool that the character that I normally play as was possibly going to get the 2 minute game in his home town. The good thing about Hanamura is that it is attacker friendly and is the best map for getting the 2 minute game. Personnel Economics Application Paper Personnel Economics Application Paper Tournament is a kind of reward system where fixed rewards are used for a fixed group of people and the distribution of rewards is based on the order of the participants performance (Lazear amp; Oyer, 2009, p. 9). In this particular situation, four agents in one of Mitch amp; Murray s offices are given a strong incentive to succeed in a sales tournament. Mitch amp; Murray uses a set of prizes that diminish in value as a person s relative performance gets lower. The good leads are locked in the office manager s room and they will not be distributed until the end of the contest. (Glengarry Glen Ross, n.d.). After he realizes that no matter how hard he work, his sales performance will barely improve, he becomes desperate. At that point, the cost of effort for him is too high which makes the prize unachievable, and thus provides no incentive for him to exert effort anymore. With those old leads, luck becomes relatively more important to the final success and effort relatively less important. In such case, workers will try less hard to win because effort has a smaller effect on whether or not they win (Lazear amp; Oyer, 2009, p. 10). This is why he soon gives up working on the old leads but to flatter, threaten, and bribe the office manager to get good leads which can reduce the cost of his effort and diminish the importance of luck. However, the result is quite unexpected His attempt to get good leads does not work out so he finally helps Dave to steal and sell the good leads to another company. • 50. The Importance Of A Common National Language Common national language has consistently been a fundamental driving force to uphold national bonding all over the globe. This can be recognized by historical examples ranging from those found in Western countries to Asian countries, such as how French was adopted as a means to reunify France as a whole country after the French Revolution and how Korea has made use of a common Korean languageto unite the Three Kingdoms and to secure statehood. In this context, common national language refers to a language, both written and spoken that has connections, de facto or de jure with users and the territory they occupy and exists originally but is then forged to be the first language to shape a politically desired national identity. To strengthen the national solidarity, it has sometimes been proposed that a typical national language is indispensable for accelerating the formation of an appropriate national identity. This essay will argue that common national language is the key to sustain nationhood because users can gain a greater sense of belongings and togetherness towards the nation. This will be asserted by demonstrating how a particular concept can be stressed with a language while speaking and by showing how a common national language could reduce the communication gap between nationals with different mother tongues. A key argument for adopting a universal national language is that speakers of a language can incline to certain types of information while speaking (Mooney ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
