China s Sudden Rise to Power Essay
In the current anarchic world, The United States acts as the global hegemon. However, China s
recent rise to power has lead international relations experts, Ikenberry, Mearsheimer, Subramanian,
and Friedberg, to predict an upcoming power shift in the international system. China s increasing
control over the Asia Pacific region has threatened U.S. power. According to Waltz, the realism
paradigm interprets the anarchic structure of the international community, as a constant power
struggle. Although each country may be different, to survive, they must all strive for power. Under
the liberalism paradigm, the system is still anarchical but cooperation may be achieved by shared
norms, and aligned political and economical interests.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Snyder claims that realism failed to predict the Cold War. Given this, Mearsheimer states China
cannot rise peacefully. Since realists describe the world as a self help system, according to Posen,
every country must look to its own interests relative to those of others and because security is the
preeminent issue in an anarchic world, the distribution of capabilities to attack and defend should
matter. Thus, because China s strive for regional hegemony inevitably threatens the power
dynamic of the global system, the U.S. will, according to Mearsheimer, take an offensive realist
approach that will eventually lead to war. In addition, as seen in post Cold War, economic stability
greatly determines the distribution of power. Friedberg notes, that the projected speed and
magnitude of China s growth in recent decades appears to be unprecedented and as early as 2015,
China s economy could overtake that of the United States. Although the U.S. faces an
unprecedented challenge to economic power, according to Ikenberry, China has signaled
cooperation by redoubling its participation in existing institutions, such as the ASEAN Regional
Forum and the East Asia Summit or working with the other great powers in the region to build new
ones. Nevertheless, following the actions of the U.S. post WWII, China strategically makes itself
more predictable and approachable to reduce the incentives for other

Do not overreact to your mistakes. They are not failures. They are setbacks. Failure happens
when you stop trying. Never stop. Mistakes often cannot be corrected. It is more important to
accept them, learn from them, and move forward. If you miss a meal or a training session, do not
try to make one up. Review how and why you missed the meal or training session to prevent from
repeating the same mistake in the future. Move on by focusing on your next meal or training
session. This keeps you on track and that much closer to achieving your objectives. Do not dwell
on your mistakes, beat yourself up, or punish yourself with guilt, shame, or negativity. Following up
a nutrition or training mistake with an emotional mistake just compounds the problem. You are
human. Mistakes happen. In order to be physically strong, you have to be mentally and
emotionally strong. Fall down. Get back up. Keep moving forward. Never stop. Never quit. Never
fail.

Most likely you have made previous attempts to better your appearance, fitness, or performance

Reimbursement Model
I think that reimbursement system is one of the most important implements to maintain managed
care organization. However, there are various models accessible to manage hospitals or health
care associations to keep track of reimburse payment methods. As of carefully reading through
the book, I believe a basic model of reimbursement includes Fee for services, capitation, and
salary. However, each of these models is states differently and approached it differently. First, I
believe a fee for services model is very easy payment method and remain as very important form of
reimbursement model in the health maintenance organization. Physician or any health care
provider receives payment right after providing services or procedure has been done. However,

The Role Of Harpies In Greek Mythology
In Greek mythology, Harpies are terrifying creatures that can do anything to daunt the people on
Earth. They are interesting in that they have the chest and head of a woman on the body of a
bird. People are always able to see the Harpies once they disobey the gods on Mount Olympus.
Harpies are a symbol of evil forces or bad Karma getting repaid with some sort of punishment for
payment. A story that some people know about the horrifying creatures takes place with Aeneas
and his men. Aeneas and his men beach on a land full of cattle and they decide to ... [slay] as many

My Experience At Erin s Place
My breathing is steady and shallow, the exhales causing slight disturbances in the fog around me,
my shoes making a constant smack, smack on the pavement. The mist acts like a thin blanket,
dampening my senses, making the world just a little quieter, a little calmer. All around me are the
sounds and smells of pure, serene nighttime. To my left is the pond; ducks are huddled along the
shoreline, sometimes ruffling their feathers or making a sleepy murmur. I just passed the campus
daycare, the windows are all dark and the playground is empty; the swing creaks back and forth
slightly... There must be a breeze.
I m on my way back from a long night of studying. It s around 2AM, the cafeteria in the
university hall is open all the time so students can study late for upcoming finals. I m not much of
a cram studier so I m way ahead and I don t have any exams for a few days.
I should have made plans to stay at Erin s place. She lives on campus in the dorms and she gave
me a copy of her key (which is completely against the rules, by the way, but she figured I might
need a place to crash if I ever got too drunk at a campus party), but I m pretty sure she won t
appreciate me storming in at 2AM when she, unlike me, has an exam in the morning. I brought the
key with me in case I was too tired to walk home; but alas, coffee is a brilliant invention, and if
anything I feel wide awake, so I silently review the topics I m finished going over... Riemann

Freedom And African American History Essay
Freedom And African American History 1 XIN LI The United States is a immigrant country,
which faces varieties of problems. The African American problem is one of the most serious one.
Racial segregation is a deep rooted social problem, which reflects in every field in the United
States. For example, education, labor market and criminal justice system. In the aspect of
education, most of black children were not permitted to enter the school, because the white children
studied there. In the aspect of labor market, the black peoples average wages were lower than the
whites. They did the manual work. In the aspect of criminal justice system, the blacks were
easily in jail. Badly, their sentences were also more serious than the whites. In general, the blacks
live in the bottom of the American society. Martin Luther King delivered the famous speech I
Have a Dream, I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they
will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. (1) However, it
was difficult for African Americanto get the freedom. The 1776 Declaration of Independence
announced that everyone are equal and freedom. But black slavery still occurred in the southern
states of America. Then the Civil War broke out, African American kept struggling for land and
political rights.

Informative Essay On Ufos
Reports of an alien UFO being intercepted by jet fighters have circulated the Internet. Residents
of an otherwise quiet English town were awoken to blasting jet engines earlier this month. Jet
fighters from a nearby military base scrambled toward the English coast to intercept what was
said to be a UFO. The UFO was reported by fisherman to have risen from the water. The flight
tracking of the jets showed that they were circling something. But the government reported that
it was not a UFO, but an Air France flight. New footage on YouTube taken by fisherman tell a
different story. UFO Dives Into Sea A recent YouTube video shows footage from a fishing boat
capturing jets and a helicopter circling a UFO. The YouTube channel Christopher Stokes
published the footage on May 25. It shows jets and a helicopter attempting to make contact with
a UFO before it dives into the sea. The fishermen are of course hysterical as the booming engines
of the jets buzz by before the UFO simply disappears into the water. A helicopter than does a
flyby, and the footage ends. Could this be real footage? If so, how did they get it off the boat?
Have those fishermen been assassinated? A Hoax or Possibly Real? The footage of the jets,
helicopter, and UFO is definitely suspicious. It is fuzzy, pixelated, and the UFO isn t to clear. One
odd feature of the footage is that the UFO... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

New Asembling Forms Of The Industrial Revolution
In the eighteenth century, the Industrial Revolution was the progress to new assembling forms
introducing machines for the manufacture of textile goods that were speedier and more productive
than individuals. Logical advances in mechanical development, agriculture, modern creation, and
financial extension sparked the inventions of the spinning jenny (1765) created by James
Hargreaves, allowed more wool to be spun at a time increasing production. In 1775, James Watt
invented the steam enginewhich was used to pump water and air into and out of the coal mines.
As new and improved editions of the steam engine was created, new forms of transportation
became available such as the steamboat and the railroad. The power loom ( also in 1775) created

The Abraham Friedman Occupational Center
Throughout the program, my placement was set at the Abraham Friedman Occupational Center.
The students were predominantly Spanish speaking adults who lived in downtown Los Angeles.
The program was ESL Intermediate High B that integrated language skills. Since October last year,
I devoted seventy hours to observation and taught four lessons totaling five hours. The guiding
teacher Mr. Buckley was an inspiring educator who created a variety of classroom activities.
Analysis
I benefited from the observation experience both as a language learner and a potential ESL teacher.
When I started the practicum, I had little teaching experience. I never attended any English learning
program in the United States, and its interactive teaching style surprised me. I thought to myself
that being interactive should mean spontaneous and going with what s happening in the classroom.
I came up with the first lesson in just an hour.
It was when I reviewed my first teaching video that I found how powerful the reflective cycle
was. It helped me slow down thinking so that I can attend to what is rather than what I wished
were so, and then to shift the weight of that thinking from my own teaching to students learning
(Rodgers, 2002, p. 231). It looked like in the first TLE I wasn t teaching at all. Then I started to
reread the Rogers article for help and was able to dig out more information that I overlooked before.
When I select my content, I wanted it to be socially relevant and specific. I

Adam Laroche Case Study
There are just two weeks before opening day and instead of talking about who s going to make
each teams 25 man roster we are talking about what in my opinion is a very stupid controversy
involving former White Sox first baseman Adam Laroche. Laroche retired earlier this week
because White Sox GM Kenny Williams asked him to cut back on the time his son Drake spent in
the clubhouse.
First of all, I commend Laroche for sticking to his beliefs of family first and that is something I
completely agree with, but bringing your kid to work 100% of the time is a bit ridiculous nowhere

Somehow I think if he hit 250 with 25 homers this issue wouldn t even have come about I don t
think.
There are some unwritten rules in baseball and I think one of them includes the clubhouse being a
sanctuary allowing the players to be themselves and create that camaraderie and chemistry
needed to help win baseball games. I think having kids in the clubhouse are great because
baseball is so demanding and players live seven months out of a suitcase but I think there has to
be some sort of line drawn or rules in place so this situation doesn t ever become problematic.
The only good thing for the White Sox is it clears 13.1 million financially for the team to spend
elsewhere. Image wise it s terrible because it s going to be a distraction all year answering
questions about a difference in opinion. The White Sox have been very inconsistent the past few
seasons and now they will have this cloud over them when in reality all they wanted to do is
focus on winning baseball games it s a shame it came to this and they are talking about this but
that s the reality. I hope it will somehow go away and we can focus on the exciting new season on

Fly Fishing Argumentative Essay
Fly Fishing has become more and more popular throughout the years. Many would argue that fly
fishing is their religion of choice. This article goes into detail about how fly fishing is a religion to
certain people. People will travel the world to see in search of the perfect location to fish. So how
did fly fishing get to be considered a re religion? According to Samuel Snyder, scholars began to
examine and focus on topics that were not traditionally considered religious. David Chidester and
Robert Orsi pushed the scholars to investigate the different forms of religion throughout the world.
As a result scholars such as Rebecca Gould combined lived religion and nature religion to form

Amy Cortez Change Analysis
The two parts of the work together are titled Change , created by Amy Cortez. The skull on the
first butterfly is an odd contrast to the overall figure. The work is very colorful and bright. The
second butterfly is monochrome and flat, and hangs on a string from the ceiling.
The first component of the work is a butterfly shape with a raised neon green and orange skull in
the center. It is in a black frame with a black background. Colorful patterns radiate out from the
skull onto the wings, first into leaves, and then to looping, wavy shapes. The leaves and skull are
shades of green, and the other colors are yellow, blue, pink, brown, and red. Small, repeating dark
green semicircles outline the butterfly and extend to the black background. ... Show more content on

They do not attempt to represent these things as they are in nature, but still use recognizable
shapes to signify them. The colorful butterfly is a collage made of fabric paint, ribbon, and
textured paper. On the colorful butterfly, the skull is meant to draw attention, as it is in the center
of the work, slightly raised, and is different colors than the wings. The irregular lines and organic
shapes of the patterns radiate out from the skull, guiding the eye to the butterfly outline. This
butterfly is the plate used to create the second. The second, with an absence of color, gets the viewer
s attention with its unusual placement. It contrasts the first butterfly in both color and material. The
eye is drawn to the darker elements in the center and the border.
The butterfly is often used as a symbol of rebirth, which connects with the title of Change . The
raised skull of the first butterfly evokes death, but its bright, cheerful colors and central position
seem to suggest that death in this work is not to be feared, and is even necessary. The second
butterfly, hanging freely from the ceiling, is noticeably different from the first, again invoking the
idea of change. Change here is then often painful, but it is needed and can even be

Why are personal experiences influence to a person s thoughts and how does it impact on his or

In such, China imported large volumes of sisal from Zambia, orange varieties and plantation
farming techniques from Morocco, and valuable cotton plantation management and techniques

The year 1978, brought an epitome of China s growth and development, it began to implement a
policy of reformation and opening up which emphasized on economic development. This was a
benchmark strategy that spearheaded China s industrial development and modernization processes
that expanded Chinese enterprises and growth opportunities. By this year, most of the African were

Political Marketing
Reconciling Marketing with Political Science: Theories of Political Marketing.
Journal of Marketing Management, 1997, Vol 13, pp.651 663
Dominic Wring
This paper has two broad aims: to trace the theoretical development of political marketing and then
demonstrate how these concepts can be used in the analysis of election campaigns. Electioneering
is not the sole manifestation of marketing in politics but it is the most obvious, a point underlined by
recent work addressing the prominent role now played by political marketing in a parliamentary
democracy like Britain (Franklin 1994; Kavanagh 1995; Scammell 1995). Whilst much of this
material understandably concentrates on the once neglected work of campaign practitioners, the

The British and American definitions are useful in that they counteract the crude and oversimplistic
belief that marketing is simply about firms giving their customers what they want. Such a clichГ©
may convey clarity but it obscures more complex truth. And because some in political science (not
to mention other disciplines) may have misunderstood marketing in this way, it helps explain why
relatively few in the field have sought to use it as a tool of electoral analysis.
Marketing then is a process in which the notion of consumer focus plays a major strategic role but
not to the exclusion of organisational needs. Compared with over simplistic customer centred
understandings of the subject, this theoretical interpretation fits more easily with the world of
realpolitik . In analysing the electoral market Adrian Sackman emphasises this point, arguing that:
Marketing is thus built upon a paradox; it starts with the customer, is directed at the customer, but
is fundamentally concerned with the satisfaction of the producer s own interests (Sackman 1992).
Such sentiments resemble J.K.Galbraith s stricture that marketing and advertising are activities
governed and to some extent created by producer groups (Galbraith 1969). In political science this
view is reflected in theoretical considerations of competition which attempt

Lyme Disease Is An Issue
Ticked Off: Lyme Disease is an Issue
What is Lyme disease, and why is it important? Lyme disease is a tick borne disease created by
bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. The infection is primarily transmitted by Ixodes ticks, also known
as deer ticks, and on the West Coast, black legged ticks (Lymedisease.org). It s hard to identify the
ticks because of their tiny size, similar to a poppy seed. To make that exact the female adult deer tick
is about 2.7 mm in length, and the male is smaller than that (tickencounter.org). The size makes it
even more difficult to feel or find a bite from the tick. However, the consequences can be very
serious, sometimes even fatal (cdc.gov). Lyme disease is a serious public health in the United States
that is overlooked.
Lyme disease got its name from where it was first discovered in Lyme, Connecticut in 1975
(healthychildren.org). Since then there has been thousands of cases reported of the disease. The
ticks live in low and high seasonal temperatures and high humidity (healthychildren.org). Lyme
Disease most common to occur in the Northeast, North central states, or West Coast. On behalf
of the Northeast, I can tell you that ticks are everywhere in this region. They like to live in tall
grasses and woody areas. The small insects more than often latch onto the foot or lower leg and
crawl up the body, and travel up the body with a destination of the head. On their normal hosts,
ticks also usually crawl up; they want to blood feed around the

Comparison Of White Upper Class Male And Female
In early 1800s society, there was an Unequal power relation between male and female . Men were
traditionally seen as being the dominant, physically stronger and socially more powerful in terms of
status: traditional masculinity is a strength, rationality, stoicism and self reliance . Women s
position in society and within their homes was portrayed as subservient, obedient to their fathers,
brothers and malerelatives and their husbands throughout their lives.
Fagin: stereotypical man
Fagin s power lies within him being the elite in a criminal group; his masculine qualities position
in an area of great and dangerous power . White upper class males are seen as being the far more
superior group then the lower social class. Whereas it could be argued that A masculine
gendering is supposed to evoke positive connotation , the men s in Oliver Twist are most
typically linked to violence. The greed of Fagin is shown when he says if you do it well, a
pound my dear this gives a reflection of his character in the story. His portrayed as being
arrogant as he uses children for his own good as they are seen to steal money for him. His
arrogant side is shown through his treatment of the children what s your name you hardened

Introduction
Professional Flooring Supply (PFS) is a wholesale distributor of flooring installation supplies
and sundries. PFS currently has 15 branches located in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma,
Colorado, Utah and Idaho. Each of these locations serves as a distribution point for resale
customers as well as a retail store front for flooring installers. PFS was founded in 1977 with a
location in Houston and in Fort Worth Texas. The company remained fairly small until 2005 when
they began expanding rapidly. PFS in the past has always used a hub and spoke model when it
come to distribution of inventory. The majority of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, another major area of concern is when the inventory counts in the system do not match
what is physically on hand in the warehouse. This can occur for a number of different reasons. The
main cause however is poor cycle counting. PFS has implemented the use of cycle counts to insure
that inventory counts are done regularly to make sure everything matches and is correct. These
counts are being done in the middle of the day when the warehouse workers are trying to pull
inventory for deliveries, receiving in inventory, and picking inventory for customers who are there.
As previously mentioned a lot of times these items are not located properly so this worker is
rushing through the list trying to count the goods while performing all the other tasks and often
times misses items that may be in stock, just improperly located. That worker will then have to
write off that inventory causing the purchasing department to reorder the needed quantities to
satisfy customer orders.
Literature Review
The main focus of the solutions needed for PFS revolve around the management of the supply chain
and how that can be made into a more automated process that will lower the amount of possible
manual errors. Talib, Rahman, and Qureshi discuss the similarities of Total Quality Management
(TQM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) and how they each are used in business processes.
They state The extant review of literature revealed that

Efficient Market Hypothesis
Introduction
The efficient markets hypothesis (EMH) is a dominant financial markets theory developed by
Michael Jensen, a graduate of the University of Chicago and one of the creators of the efficient
markets hypothesis, stated that, there is no other proposition in economics which has more solid
empirical evidence supporting it than the Efficient Markets Hypothesis [Jensen, 1978, 96]. This
paper analyzes whether it is possible to measure if markets are efficient in the strong form of
EMH. A generation ago, the efficient market hypothesis was widely accepted by academic financial
economists; for example, Eugene Fama s (1970) influential survey article, Efficient Capital
Markets. It was generally believed that securities markets were ... Show more content on

This implies that it is impossible to beat the market. Many studies shed light on whether
investment advisers and mutual funds (some of which charge steep sales commissions to people
who purchase them) beat the market. One common test that has been performed is to take buy
and sell recommendations from a group of advisers or mutual funds and compare the
performance of the resulting selection of stocks with the market as a whole. Sometimes the
advisers choices have even been compared to a group of stocks chosen by throwing darts at a
copy of the financial page of the newspaper tacked to a dartboard. The Wall Street Journal, for
example, used to have a regular feature called Investment Dartboard that compared how well stocks
picked by investment advisers did relative to stocks picked by throwing darts. Did the advisers win?
To their embarrassment, the dartboard beat them as often as they beat the dartboard. Furthermore,
even when the comparison included only advisers who had been successful in the past in predicting
the stock market, the advisers still didn t regularly beat the dartboard. Consistent with the efficient
market hypothesis, mutual funds also do not beat the market. Not only do mutual funds not
outperform the market on average, but when they are separated into groups according to whether
they had the highest or lowest profits in a chosen period, the

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of My Weaknesses
000864462 My Strengths and Weaknesses I believe that life is a learning experience. We must
reinforce our weaknesses until there become our strengths. And also we are just human, not
superman, we have our own weaknesses, we make mistakes, and we experience sadness, but we
will learn from all these things to make us be a better person. As we know, success is achieved
by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses. For me, I said that the
weaknesses are not a stumbling block to success, but it is an indispensable factor to the road of
success. Now, I will share my personal strengths and weaknesses and explain how I plan to
overcome my weaknesses in my life. One of my greatest strengths is I am a comparison people.

How Soccer Was Discovered
How Soccer Was Discovered Soccer is said to be the greatest sport to ever be played. Throughout
Europe there is no other sport that is as popular as soccer. As time passed by soccer tended to grasp
more people s attention and eventually the sport flew into the medieval times. Soccer was
originated in Egypt, Ancient China, Rome, and eventually turned into Modern day Football. In
Ancient Egypt balls that were made of real linen were found in Egyptians tombs and were told
that time was around 2,500 B.C. Balls were made of animal intestines or animal skin in order to
improve the bouncing and the texture of the ball. The better the texture was, the better the touch on

It was eventually banned in schools because of the chaos and injuries that came with the sport.
Eventually, in the 19th century they finally came to a resolution to create rules that will make
the play fair. These rules are the main foundation of today s football rules. As they gathered and
made rules, they called it the Football Association. In the United States it became known as
soccer. The rules started to take effect in the 1860 s. the only problem was that every club and
town had their own views on their rules and whne it came time to play they wouldn t be able to
decide on what rules to follow. It was a hard decision because there would obviously be a club that
thinks their rules are way better than the others, that s where the conflict came into play. In 1863,
the FA (Football Association) got all clubs together and established common rules for the game that
everyone would have to follow. The rules started in Englandand easily moved to other countries
across the world. The Football Association increased the popularity of football through the whole
world as we know it today. It was known as football, futbol, futebol, and fussbol in various
countries, but in the United States it was known as soccer. The only reason the name soccer was
created was because there needed be a separation between rugby football and association football.
Soccer did just that because no other sport came close to that name. There was a firm

Risk Factors Scientists have found a number of risk factors that may influence the probability of
someone getting Hodgkin s disease, but it is still not clear how these factors increase the risk (4).
For example, some researchers think that infections with the Epstein Barr virus may sometimes
cause damage to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in the B lymphocytes, which leads to the
creation of Reed Sternberg cells (4). DNA is the set of instructions sent to the genes that dictates
cell functions. Some genes are responsible for controlling when cells grow, divide, and die (4).

The Theory Of The Constructivist Theory
1)Constructivism is a form of learning which is driven by the theory that humans are able to
generate knowledge from the interaction between their experiences and their ideas(1). This makes
the student actively involved in the process of synthesising meaning and knowledge. It is argued
that the constructivist approach inculcates critical thinking from the extrapolation of the student s
prior knowledgeand actively engaging the student in this way is much more effective than passive
learningthrough acquiring knowledge in a lecture(2) Also, this form of learning can be done in a
collaboration of students(3) Below are discussed some of the main types of constructivist theories.
One of the principle theoretical constructs used in medical educationis known as Problem Based
learning (PBL). This form of learning starts with an educator forms and presents a number of
carefully constructed problems to a small group of students(4). The problems presented here are
typically based on events of which the students have some prior knowledge of. This prior
knowledge is discussed within the class and from this, questions are asked related to the problems
presented. Following this, time is granted in which the students go away to conduct individual
research on the new information which they have acquired. The students then return to their class,
in which they spend one to

How Does Shakespeare Create Tension In Act 1 Of Julius Caesar
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me yours ears. Julius Caesar was written by William
Shakespeare. It is believed that it was first published in 1623. The play is mostly historically
accurate despite minor details. Shakespeare took a few liberties while writing this play but not
very many. The story starts out with a battle and ends in the same fashion. In the short 70 page
play, so much happens. Act 1 sets the mood and introduces characters. Act 2 however begins to
show tension in Rome and a conspiracy forming towards Julius Caesar. We will look at many more
things that transpire in this intriguing play. In doing so, we will be comparing the characters of
Julius Caesar and Brutus.
The plot starts to thicken when the conspirators come together. These men, to name a few, were
Brutus, Cassius, Casca, and Cinna. They believed that Caesar was evil and that his pride and ego
would hurt Rome. They toyed with the thought of murdering Caesar s close friend, Marc Antony.
They decided against it. The conspirators agreed that Antony was just simply a limb from the tree
of Julius Caesar. They made the comparison of Caesar to a serpent. If they could crush the egg
before it hatched, it would be for the greater good. According to historical fact, Brutus truly believed

The Pledge Of Allegiance Pros And Cons

Seventy three years ago Congress got the United States out of what had turned into an
unexpectedly embarrassing situation. It concerned the Pledge of Allegiance specifically,
something called the Bellamy Salute Most people today have likely never heard of it, but the
Bellamy Salute was once a constant part of the country s life. Until 1892, there was no such thing

originally composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the

change in language came on Flag Day 1954 when the words under God were added. But since
that day, lots of controversies happened regarding adding the word Under God . This event
made some Americans upset. Pledging our allegiance to a flag that flies over a nation under God

Transforming Data and Information Overload Into A Defensible, Long Term Competitive
Advantage Introduction The proliferation of data, process and system integration technologies,
combined with the rapid advances made in analytics, Big Data, customer management and supply
chain applications are power catalysts of disruptive change in enterprise IT. Given the fact that
many legacy, 3rd party and previously disparate, disconnected systems are for the first time being
integrated together, the amount of data available for analysis and decision making has never been
greater. Add to this the torrent of data being generated daily through an enterprise s sales cycles,
social networks subscribed to, and customer interactions, and the amount of data available can
becoming quickly overwhelming. All of these dynamics taken together form the area of analytics
and enterprise software called Big Data. As tempting it is for the analytically minded to dive into
these terabytes and explore for insights and previously unknown associations in the data, to get the
most value from the investments in BigData, analytics, and enterprise applications, governance
based frameworks need to be defined that align these systems to specific strategic objectives
(McKendrick, 2012). The advent of Hadoop, H Base, MapReduce and other data analysis and
aggregation platforms and applications only become relevant in the context of strategic goals and
their accomplishment (Rogers, 2011). That is why more

The United States Selective Service System Essay
How the United States Selective Service System Reinforces Systems of Inequality The United
States Selective Service System, or the draft as it is more commonly known, is a deeply flawed
institution. While there are many components with which I take issue, the one I chose to contend
with in my creative project is its exclusion of women. Though women have recently gained the
right to serve in all combat positions in the United States military, we are still not expected to
register with the draft as all men in America must do when they turn eighteen. This system may be
flawed, but if it is going to exist it must be equitable. The existence of the draft as a male only
institution sends a message about how our society views men and women as innately different, a
belief which limits and hurt us all. Until we raise our voices in opposition to such essentialist
beliefs and start changing the status quo, the draft will continue to exemplify all the things we
continue to get wrong about gender differences and systems of oppression in society. For my
project, I created a satiric video which touches on several different problems I have noticed with
regards to women and the draft, including essentialist arguments against women in the military, the
poor logic in excluding half the population from something so important, and the use of the draft as
an argument to try and invalidate feminism. I chose this medium because I felt it was an
appropriately accessible form. The images of Uncle

in the image of a gigantic cat. They now have to live in poverty. One night, while in a drunken
stupor, he
3 finds a stray cat and brings it home. The next morning he realizes that the cat resembles Pluto,
the dead cat, in every way except for the large white patch on the new cat s chest. It even has the
same eye missing. The white spot that has once distinguished the new cat from Pluto changes
shape and begins to resemble a noose. He then kills his wife when she stops him from killing the
cat. When the police came, the cat s moan reveals his wife s body that is concealed behind a
brick wall. He then realizes that he has accidentally walled the cat up with his wife, which is the
reason he is unable to find the animal to kill it.

The Grim Graveyard
You won t believe this story but it s true, One year me and my sister Z yang were trick or treating
when we saw this graveyard that connected to a neighborhood we wanted to go through. hey Z
let s go through that graveyard, there is no way that it is haunted! I said J.M. I don t think that s
a very smart idea. Z said I then said look Im Jr. Mira Yang and you are Z Yang. We are descended

saw all the graves sitting there they then heard a loud ear blistering screech it sounded like a
dying duck mixed with a cat screech. The two girls turned their backs and saw something had
closed the gate! The two girls gasped and looked at each other. Then they heard what sounded
like a million moans. look at that over AHHHHHHH!! They both screamed because they saw
zombies! Their rugged, ripped, clothes were horrid and their bloody arms and legs they had

Haber Process One World Essay
The Haber Process, also known as the Haber Bosch Process, was discovered in the first half of the
20th Century, by a man named Fritz Haber. The Haber could be considered to be a very high on
technological advance/discovery in the past 100 years. The world has had many mixed opinions
on Fritz Haber and his development of the Haber Process. The manufacture of Ammonia has a lot of
history and science behind it, it has impacted our history as well as our present day, mainly in our
environment. Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, two German Chemists, developed the Haber Process, in
the early 1900s, as ammonia was very difficult to produce on a high ... Show more content on

Though, 80% of ammonia produced is used in agriculture for fertilizers (Ammonia, Wikipedia), it is
also used for refrigerant gas, to purify water supplies, and in the manufacturing of explosives,
fabrics, pesticides and many other chemicals (health.ny.gov). Ammonia is a in house hold cleaning
supplies. The cleaning solution for bigger projects, industrial use contains larger amounts of
ammonia and will cause irritation. There also have been some negative uses, thoughts, and effects
of the Haber Process. With the Haber Process, the nitrogen cycle is thrown off track, and it creates
an imbalance, due to that large amount of extraction from our atmosphere. To complete the
process, there is a high fossil fuel input, as you require 400 550oC and that uses a lot of energy.
When ammonia enters the body, due to breathing, it sometimes reacts with water to produce
ammonium hydroxide. This is very corrosive chemical and has been known to damage cells in
the body that it comes in contact with. During World War 1, the Germans took the research used
by the German Chemists, to kill troops that were stuck in trenches, with Ammonia poisoning.
Every good thing comes with a side of bad effects, and Haber and Bosch s discovery had almost
a full serving of bad. Though we still use ammonia in our day to day lives, as well has for
industrial purposes, there are many ways that it has impacted us negatively.

There are two groups emerging in the successor states from russia politically. There are countries
that are trying to move away from russian influence, while others are being put back into russian
sphere of influence. Russia uses it power over these countries because they rely on energy from
Russia. For example, Ukraine and Georgia are two countries who don t want russian interference
and their political leaders use this to run for president. However, countries in the stans are closely
allied with Russia.
First, Ukraine is the biggest populated country in the former soviet countries. The population of

In the beginning of the election it was viewed as Kuchma staging an handover of power to his
deputy Yanukovich much like how Putin did Medvedev. The reaction in the country was that he
gave guarantees to Kuchma that he would be protected once he gets into power. This mirror s how
Putin came into power in Russia with the handover of power from Yeltsin. During the election Putin
would campaign for Yanukovich making seem like Ukraine was back in the influence of Russia.
However, Yushchenko wanted no part of Russia and he promoted more of an alignment with the
West.
This is where Ukraine adopted the anti Russia political identity known today. The candidate
Yushchenko did not want russia interfering in ukraine and its politics. Leading the political party
Our Ukraine Yushchenko became seeing as a reformer with pro west attitude. However, this would
cost him as he was poison during the election. The country became divided on the issue of russian
interference. Thus, the country was split politically with the western part being pro russia. This is
due to when Ukraine was urbanized and many ethnic russian migrated to this region. Furthermore,
this area is where Crimea is were russian backed militia are currently fighting the Ukrainian

Socrates Untimely Death
In the great dialogues of Plato Plato presents the account of Socrates untimely death. Crito had
arranged for Socrates to escape from prison but after he and Crito discuss what the outcome of
that action would be he refuses, and eventually dies as a result of that decision. Socrates made
the right choice in his decision to not resist his fate, because those who would have helped him
would have rendered themselves liable to a similar fate, he would have had to live as a fugitive
and would have had his same problem with the authorities wherever he went, and he also would
have removed any power the Athenian courts ever had. The first reason why he made the right
decision was that his friends

Contiki Speech
Katrine Ornejas
Good morning everyone today I am going to talk to you about how Contiki was created and how
the company became a success. Contiki began from John s own desire to see Europe cheaply. He
is the man who was behind all the successes of Contiki and came up with the idea of this tour
company. To make this happen, there were guides that he went through to help establish this
tourism business. I will also talk to you about how he grows the business and make it a success and
of course the traps to watch out when running a business.
First of all, John Anderson was a 23 year old man who was born in New Zealand. He grew up with
his mum while his dad was in Europe. One day he went to Europe for a couple days and he just fell

One of the very important techniques that I learned on this book was the power of word of mouth.
Basically when a group young adults went for a trip, they makes sure that everyone will have an
awesome trip and when they came back they will tell their friends and relatives about their
experience. They will spread the word on how amazing the experience they had on the trip. They
will talk about what attractions they ve seen or where they went in Europe or what activities
they did. At this point, when other people heard about their great feedback for the trip, it will
give a huge interest to other people. For me personally, if my friend went to that trip and told me
that she had a really great time on the trip, I would definitely book on that trip too if I want to
travel. It will give me an interest and it shows that I can trust the company because they had a
really great customer feedback. Another thing is to treat the passenger s complaints seriously
no matter how big or small it is because you ll never know what could happen and it could
possibly affect the whole company. Make sure you identify and diffuse any issue before it
becomes a major. Because if you didn t solve the problem, it doesn t only affect the company but
also the customer s loyalty and trust which is very important for a business. When you make sure
that you satisfied their needs even though you made a mistake, you can solve it earlier or later
before it gets

Fidel Lopez Research Paper
The most meaningful insight I was able to take from the inspiring story of Fidel Lopez was his
compassionate perspective toward life and people. He did not lose focus of his main goal in life
and saw people in the same way even after his traumatizing experience. I admire his way of life
and feel that more of us today should keep the words of Fidel Lopez in mind and that is, that
good and bad people come in all colors. It would make a big difference if people today would
keep that in mind with the same problem we had twenty years ago still affecting us today. For
instance, the problem of judging people based on the color of their skin or race has gotten many
police officers into trouble. The treatment toward an African American or Hispanic

Comparison Of Moral Arguments And Ethical Theories
How I Approach Moral Arguments and Ethical Theories The controversial moral argument that
is going to be discussed in this paper is homosexuality in relation to religious beliefs and gay
marriage. My beliefs are that this practice is morally wrong, but who am I to be the judge? The
approach used to base this reasoning on is a simple question. Does this issue affect me? If a
homosexual couple has the desire to wed, I do not see any possible reason that this would affect
my livelihood. I will let God decide if this practice is acceptable or should be punished. Logically,
there is no way to determine who is right or wrong in the argument, but it is useful to determine if
the argument is good or bad (Mosser, 2011). A few premises that are

My viewpoint follows the principle of deontology. There is no excuse for lying. Lying is a
hurtful act of disrespect and thus should not be done (Mosser, 2011, Ch. 5, p. 15). Once again,
this belief is due to religious beliefs that lying is wrong. The utilitarian viewpoint of lying is
acceptable if it benefits the greatest good for the greatest number of people is a weak argument.
What about those people that do not benefit? Do they not matter? I believe that everyone can
contribute. Thomas Plante, Ph. D. a professor with Santa Clara University has this to say on the
subject, When it comes to making ethical decisions we need to balance the pros and cons of
using multiple approaches to ethics in order to figure out what the right thing to do really is.
Sometimes different ethical approaches conflict. When they do, certain values or approaches
must trump others. So, compassion might trump honesty on occasion (Plante, 2011). While this
viewpoint is utilitarian, there are many valid points. However, I always believe that honesty is
the best policy to save any future repercussions such as a lost friendship, or a legal dispute. I also
believe there are ways to get around lying to keep someone s feelings from being hurt. Using such
phrases as it s in God s hands, we ll see, and simply I can t tell you are good ways to avoid the
question, or to answer without 100%

Scolopocryptops Sexspinosus Essay
Does this species of centipede, Scolopocryptops sexspinous, extract water primarily from prey
items or do they get their water intake from a source of groundwater? We hypothesis that
Scolopocryptops sexspinosus absorbs much of its water content through direct contact with a
source of ground or rain water, therefore there will be similarities between the delta values of
O18 and H2 (Deuterium) of the centipede and the nearby body of water (creek). Methods On
October 31, a Bark Centipede (Scolopocryptops sexspinosus), two prey items (Oniscus asellus

OPERATION ANACONDA: JOINT OPERATION PLANNING ERRORS
Joint Operations After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, the United
States (US) declared a global war on terrorism. Afghanistan was the first battleground with
Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; US forces engaged enemy combatants in effort to deter,
isolate and destroy, terrorist networks. In the early stages, unified land operations consisted
mostly of special operation forces (SOF) with support of the US Airforce, US Navy, allies and
Afghan Security Forces (ASF). This early collation was a joint effort that proved successful during
the early phases of the operation. Engagement of enemy forces successfully deterred their
operational capabilities and efforts that pushed enemy forces into Shahi Kot Valley. This
concentration of enemy forces in Shahi Kot Valley fostered the development of Operation
ANACONDA, a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, multinational (JIIM) operation. The joint
operations planning process (JOPP), employed during the operational design failed to achieve the
desired combat power necessary for successful shaping operations and decisive action.
Challenges Gathering Accurate Intelligence The Combined Joint Task Force(CJTF) Mountain (10th
Mountain Division), was assigned command and control (C2) of Operation Anaconda. In early
2002, CJTF Mountain initiated the joint

Essay On Copernicus
Nicolaus Copernicus started out as just an ordinary person. In fact, according to today s standards
of intelligence, he was below average. Who knew that Copernicus would later become one of the
most intelligent people in the world. Copernicus changed the way that people during the
Renaissance viewed astronomy. Copernicus changed history as we know it today and if it wasn t
for him, today s astronomers may still be theorizing about the basic facts of our solar system.
Nicolaus Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473 in Poland. His parents, Nicolaus and Barbara,
were leading merchants and parented four children, Copernicus being the youngest. Then, when
Copernicus was around 10 to 12 years old, his father died and his brother, Lucas, took his nephew
under protection and was soon to become bishop of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two books taught Copernicus everything he needed to know about astronomy and
astrology. These books also led Copernicus to most of his discoveries and the making of a few
books himself such as De revolutionibus . In this book, Copernicus described viewing the Moon
Eclipse stating it was, the brightest star in the eye of the Bull .
Copernicus had only 27 recorded observations in his lifetime though he most likely had more than
that. He viewed eclipses, planets, stars, and much more. That may not seem very impressive today
but, for Copernicus time period, it was quite a discovery.
Copernicus wrote his book, De revolutionibus , it was only published the year of his death in
1543. The reason for his book with priceless information about our solar system to be published so
late was that it was controversial and many other theorists disagreed with Copernicus claims. It was
only at the year of his death that people realized that Copernicus was

Marie Curie s On The Discovery Of Radium
This source I decided to choose to write about is Marie Curie s On the Discovery of Radium .
This was a firsthand account by Madame Marie Curie herself when she addressed Vasser
College on May 14th 1921. Madame Curie, while discussing her past with the discovery of
radium, could have talked about the whole history of her experimentation, but broke it down to
a very brief account. I will have to say, that even though it was a short and brief writing, it took
longer to read due to the lack of my ability for me to understand what was being explained.
However, Madame Curie was able to briefly give a description of what the process was for her and
her husband to discover radium. This particular source would be considered a primary source
because it is words from Madame Curie and provides a detail of her work with radioactivity.
Madame Curie stated at the beginning of her address that she could talk for a while about
radioactivity, but since there was little time she made a brief explanation about her early work
with radium. From there you get the satisfaction that Madame Curie has from her work with
radium. She almost, in her introduction, gives radium somewhat of an identity by talking about
how the mineral is no longer a baby and is more than twenty years old. With that said it provides
feelings from Madame Curie. She begins her description of the events 24 years earlier back to 1897
while working with her husband, who she refers to as Prof Curie. To provide the

Empty Hands Summary
Empty Hands is the memoir of Sister Abegail Ntleko, and it is a great story of how hard work
and determination can help anyone make their dreams come true no matter the difficulty.
Ntleko had a rather humble beginning. She grew up without much money in a community
where education for young girls was not common or deemed necessary. Young girls were raised
caring for the household and were expected to be married off at a young age to do the exact
same thing for the rest of their lives. Her father had the same mindset, and it took years and a
meeting with the community chief for him to allow her to enter the first grade at age 14.
Because Ntleko s mother was no longer with her, members of the village would often visit her and
help her with things she needed. Mrs. Mckechnie was one of them who made a lasting impact on
Abegail. She encouraged her to get education, and that is what she went on to do. After elementary
school, she could no longer afford the requirements, so she ran away to work for a family, and it
wasn t until she had enough money saved up to afford schooling that she returned home. With the
helpof Mrs. Mckechnie, she was able to complete high school and even nursing school. After
becoming a certified nurse, Ntleko was bringing in steady income and began adopting children in
need. She also began acquiring different certifications such as psychology and ophthalmology that
would later help her be of service to various different communities. Her first community

What Were The Causes Of The Red River Rebellion In Canada
During the past years, The events known as the Red River rebellion occurred. The Red River
rebellion was caused when Canada gained a lot of land in Rupert s Land, this scared a lot of us as
we feared for our culture, and land rights under the control of the Canadiens. Because of this, we
banded together to create a provisional government to make terms for entering their colony. This
created the province of Manitoba, a new name for the same home.
In, 1812 Scottish settlers created our colony at the junction of two rivers. In, 1836 the population
was mostly French and English MГ©tis and HBC owned our land.
The rebellion started in 1850 when the rule of the Hudson s bay company was threatened (under
attack) by the British, the Canadians, and the Americans. In 1860 they were readying to sell Rupert
s land and the Northwest to Canada, this included us. While Canada and the Hudson s Bay
Company were making a deal, the protestant s from the east (Canada) and their anger and violent
ways caused our roman catholic population to fear for their land rights, religion, and culture.

  • 2. China s Sudden Rise to Power Essay In the current anarchic world, The United States acts as the global hegemon. However, China s recent rise to power has lead international relations experts, Ikenberry, Mearsheimer, Subramanian, and Friedberg, to predict an upcoming power shift in the international system. China s increasing control over the Asia Pacific region has threatened U.S. power. According to Waltz, the realism paradigm interprets the anarchic structure of the international community, as a constant power struggle. Although each country may be different, to survive, they must all strive for power. Under the liberalism paradigm, the system is still anarchical but cooperation may be achieved by shared norms, and aligned political and economical interests.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Snyder claims that realism failed to predict the Cold War. Given this, Mearsheimer states China cannot rise peacefully. Since realists describe the world as a self help system, according to Posen, every country must look to its own interests relative to those of others and because security is the preeminent issue in an anarchic world, the distribution of capabilities to attack and defend should matter. Thus, because China s strive for regional hegemony inevitably threatens the power dynamic of the global system, the U.S. will, according to Mearsheimer, take an offensive realist approach that will eventually lead to war. In addition, as seen in post Cold War, economic stability greatly determines the distribution of power. Friedberg notes, that the projected speed and magnitude of China s growth in recent decades appears to be unprecedented and as early as 2015, China s economy could overtake that of the United States. Although the U.S. faces an unprecedented challenge to economic power, according to Ikenberry, China has signaled cooperation by redoubling its participation in existing institutions, such as the ASEAN Regional Forum and the East Asia Summit or working with the other great powers in the region to build new ones. Nevertheless, following the actions of the U.S. post WWII, China strategically makes itself more predictable and approachable to reduce the incentives for other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mist acts like a thin blanket, dampening my senses, making the world just a little quieter, a little calmer. All around me are the sounds and smells of pure, serene nighttime. To my left is the pond; ducks are huddled along the shoreline, sometimes ruffling their feathers or making a sleepy murmur. • 7. Freedom And African American History Essay Freedom And African American History 1 XIN LI The United States is a immigrant country, which faces varieties of problems. The African American problem is one of the most serious one. Racial segregation is a deep rooted social problem, which reflects in every field in the United States. For example, education, labor market and criminal justice system. In the aspect of education, most of black children were not permitted to enter the school, because the white children studied there. In the aspect of labor market, the black peoples average wages were lower than the whites. They did the manual work. In the aspect of criminal justice system, the blacks were easily in jail. Badly, their sentences were also more serious than the whites. In general, the blacks live in the bottom of the American society. Martin Luther King delivered the famous speech I Have a Dream, I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. (1) However, it was difficult for African Americanto get the freedom. The 1776 Declaration of Independence announced that everyone are equal and freedom. But black slavery still occurred in the southern states of America. • 8. Informative Essay On Ufos Reports of an alien UFO being intercepted by jet fighters have circulated the Internet. Residents of an otherwise quiet English town were awoken to blasting jet engines earlier this month. Jet fighters from a nearby military base scrambled toward the English coast to intercept what was said to be a UFO. The UFO was reported by fisherman to have risen from the water. The flight tracking of the jets showed that they were circling something. But the government reported that it was not a UFO, but an Air France flight. New footage on YouTube taken by fisherman tell a different story. UFO Dives Into Sea A recent YouTube video shows footage from a fishing boat capturing jets and a helicopter circling a UFO. The YouTube channel Christopher Stokes published the footage on May 25. It shows jets and a helicopter attempting to make contact with a UFO before it dives into the sea. The fishermen are of course hysterical as the booming engines of the jets buzz by before the UFO simply disappears into the water. A helicopter than does a flyby, and the footage ends. Could this be real footage? If so, how did they get it off the boat? Have those fishermen been assassinated? A Hoax or Possibly Real? The footage of the jets, helicopter, and UFO is definitely suspicious. It is fuzzy, pixelated, and the UFO isn t to clear. One odd feature of the footage is that the UFO... The students were predominantly Spanish speaking adults who lived in downtown Los Angeles. The program was ESL Intermediate High B that integrated language skills. The guiding teacher Mr. Buckley was an inspiring educator who created a variety of classroom activities. Analysis I benefited from the observation experience both as a language learner and a potential ESL teacher. When I started the practicum, I had little teaching experience. I never attended any English learning program in the United States, and its interactive teaching style surprised me. I thought to myself that being interactive should mean spontaneous and going with what s happening in the classroom. I came up with the first lesson in just an hour. It was when I reviewed my first teaching video that I found how powerful the reflective cycle was. It helped me slow down thinking so that I can attend to what is rather than what I wished were so, and then to shift the weight of that thinking from my own teaching to students learning (Rodgers, 2002, p. 231). Laroche retired earlier this week because White Sox GM Kenny Williams asked him to cut back on the time his son Drake spent in the clubhouse. First of all, I commend Laroche for sticking to his beliefs of family first and that is something I completely agree with, but bringing your kid to work 100% of the time is a bit ridiculous nowhere in the world does that happen so I completely agree with the White Sox organization in that aspect it s not like he said stop bringing him forever just reduce the amount ... I think having kids in the clubhouse are great because baseball is so demanding and players live seven months out of a suitcase but I think there has to be some sort of line drawn or rules in place so this situation doesn t ever become problematic. The only good thing for the White Sox is it clears 13.1 million financially for the team to spend elsewhere. Image wise it s terrible because it s going to be a distraction all year answering questions about a difference in opinion. The White Sox have been very inconsistent the past few seasons and now they will have this cloud over them when in reality all they wanted to do is focus on winning baseball games it s a shame it came to this and they are talking about this but that s the reality. The work is very colorful and bright. The second butterfly is monochrome and flat, and hangs on a string from the ceiling. The first component of the work is a butterfly shape with a raised neon green and orange skull in the center. It is in a black frame with a black background. Colorful patterns radiate out from the skull onto the wings, first into leaves, and then to looping, wavy shapes. The colorful butterfly is a collage made of fabric paint, ribbon, and textured paper. On the colorful butterfly, the skull is meant to draw attention, as it is in the center of the work, slightly raised, and is different colors than the wings. The irregular lines and organic shapes of the patterns radiate out from the skull, guiding the eye to the butterfly outline. This butterfly is the plate used to create the second. The second, with an absence of color, gets the viewer s attention with its unusual placement. It contrasts the first butterfly in both color and material. The eye is drawn to the darker elements in the center and the border. The butterfly is often used as a symbol of rebirth, which connects with the title of Change . The raised skull of the first butterfly evokes death, but its bright, cheerful colors and central position seem to suggest that death in this work is not to be feared, and is even necessary. The second butterfly, hanging freely from the ceiling, is noticeably different from the first, again invoking the idea of change. Journal of Marketing Management, 1997, Vol 13, pp.651 663 Dominic Wring This paper has two broad aims: to trace the theoretical development of political marketing and then demonstrate how these concepts can be used in the analysis of election campaigns. Electioneering is not the sole manifestation of marketing in politics but it is the most obvious, a point underlined by recent work addressing the prominent role now played by political marketing in a parliamentary democracy like Britain (Franklin 1994; Kavanagh 1995; Scammell 1995). The British and American definitions are useful in that they counteract the crude and oversimplistic belief that marketing is simply about firms giving their customers what they want. Such a clichГ© may convey clarity but it obscures more complex truth. And because some in political science (not to mention other disciplines) may have misunderstood marketing in this way, it helps explain why relatively few in the field have sought to use it as a tool of electoral analysis. Marketing then is a process in which the notion of consumer focus plays a major strategic role but not to the exclusion of organisational needs. Compared with over simplistic customer centred understandings of the subject, this theoretical interpretation fits more easily with the world of realpolitik . In analysing the electoral market Adrian Sackman emphasises this point, arguing that: Marketing is thus built upon a paradox; it starts with the customer, is directed at the customer, but is fundamentally concerned with the satisfaction of the producer s own interests (Sackman 1992). Such sentiments resemble J.K.Galbraith s stricture that marketing and advertising are activities governed and to some extent created by producer groups (Galbraith 1969). • 22. Lyme Disease Is An Issue Ticked Off: Lyme Disease is an Issue What is Lyme disease, and why is it important? Lyme disease is a tick borne disease created by bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. The infection is primarily transmitted by Ixodes ticks, also known as deer ticks, and on the West Coast, black legged ticks (Lymedisease.org). It s hard to identify the ticks because of their tiny size, similar to a poppy seed. To make that exact the female adult deer tick is about 2.7 mm in length, and the male is smaller than that (tickencounter.org). The size makes it even more difficult to feel or find a bite from the tick. However, the consequences can be very serious, sometimes even fatal (cdc.gov). Lyme disease is a serious public health in the United States that is overlooked. Lyme disease got its name from where it was first discovered in Lyme, Connecticut in 1975 (healthychildren.org). Since then there has been thousands of cases reported of the disease. The ticks live in low and high seasonal temperatures and high humidity (healthychildren.org). Lyme Disease most common to occur in the Northeast, North central states, or West Coast. On behalf of the Northeast, I can tell you that ticks are everywhere in this region. They like to live in tall grasses and woody areas. The small insects more than often latch onto the foot or lower leg and crawl up the body, and travel up the body with a destination of the head. Finally, another major area of concern is when the inventory counts in the system do not match what is physically on hand in the warehouse. This can occur for a number of different reasons. The main cause however is poor cycle counting. PFS has implemented the use of cycle counts to insure that inventory counts are done regularly to make sure everything matches and is correct. These counts are being done in the middle of the day when the warehouse workers are trying to pull inventory for deliveries, receiving in inventory, and picking inventory for customers who are there. As previously mentioned a lot of times these items are not located properly so this worker is rushing through the list trying to count the goods while performing all the other tasks and often times misses items that may be in stock, just improperly located. That worker will then have to write off that inventory causing the purchasing department to reorder the needed quantities to satisfy customer orders. Literature Review The main focus of the solutions needed for PFS revolve around the management of the supply chain and how that can be made into a more automated process that will lower the amount of possible manual errors. Many studies shed light on whether investment advisers and mutual funds (some of which charge steep sales commissions to people who purchase them) beat the market. One common test that has been performed is to take buy and sell recommendations from a group of advisers or mutual funds and compare the performance of the resulting selection of stocks with the market as a whole. Sometimes the advisers choices have even been compared to a group of stocks chosen by throwing darts at a copy of the financial page of the newspaper tacked to a dartboard. The Wall Street Journal, for example, used to have a regular feature called Investment Dartboard that compared how well stocks picked by investment advisers did relative to stocks picked by throwing darts. Did the advisers win? To their embarrassment, the dartboard beat them as often as they beat the dartboard. Furthermore, even when the comparison included only advisers who had been successful in the past in predicting the stock market, the advisers still didn t regularly beat the dartboard. Consistent with the efficient market hypothesis, mutual funds also do not beat the market. Transforming Data and Information Overload Into A Defensible, Long Term Competitive Advantage Introduction The proliferation of data, process and system integration technologies, combined with the rapid advances made in analytics, Big Data, customer management and supply chain applications are power catalysts of disruptive change in enterprise IT. Given the fact that many legacy, 3rd party and previously disparate, disconnected systems are for the first time being integrated together, the amount of data available for analysis and decision making has never been greater. Add to this the torrent of data being generated daily through an enterprise s sales cycles, social networks subscribed to, and customer interactions, and the amount of data available can becoming quickly overwhelming. As tempting it is for the analytically minded to dive into these terabytes and explore for insights and previously unknown associations in the data, to get the most value from the investments in BigData, analytics, and enterprise applications, governance based frameworks need to be defined that align these systems to specific strategic objectives (McKendrick, 2012). The United States Selective Service System Essay How the United States Selective Service System Reinforces Systems of Inequality The United States Selective Service System, or the draft as it is more commonly known, is a deeply flawed institution. While there are many components with which I take issue, the one I chose to contend with in my creative project is its exclusion of women. Though women have recently gained the right to serve in all combat positions in the United States military, we are still not expected to register with the draft as all men in America must do when they turn eighteen. This system may be flawed, but if it is going to exist it must be equitable. The existence of the draft as a male only institution sends a message about how our society views men and women as innately different, a belief which limits and hurt us all. Until we raise our voices in opposition to such essentialist beliefs and start changing the status quo, the draft will continue to exemplify all the things we continue to get wrong about gender differences and systems of oppression in society. For my project, I created a satiric video which touches on several different problems I have noticed with regards to women and the draft, including essentialist arguments against women in the military, the poor logic in excluding half the population from something so important, and the use of the draft as an argument to try and invalidate feminism. What goes around comes around is a saying that would most effectively convey the message of this story because Poe implies that people will inevitably suffer the consequences of their actions. Through the careful construction of plot, the ongoing use of irony, and the rapid development of character, Poe captures the reader s undivided attention and evokes a wide variety of emotions through this short story This story is a confession of an atrocious sin told by an old man on his deathbed. They now have to live in poverty. One night, while in a drunken stupor, he 3 finds a stray cat and brings it home. The next morning he realizes that the cat resembles Pluto, the dead cat, in every way except for the large white patch on the new cat s chest. It even has the same eye missing. The white spot that has once distinguished the new cat from Pluto changes shape and begins to resemble a noose. He then kills his wife when she stops him from killing the cat. When the police came, the cat s moan reveals his wife s body that is concealed behind a brick wall. He then realizes that he has accidentally walled the cat up with his wife, which is the reason he is unable to find the animal to kill it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Haber Process Essay Tejas Gandesha Ms. Rajeev Science 10 Tuesday, October 24, 2017 Haber Process One World Essay The Haber Process, also known as the Haber Bosch Process, was discovered in the first half of the 20th Century, by a man named Fritz Haber. The Haber could be considered to be a very high on technological advance/discovery in the past 100 years. The world has had many mixed opinions on Fritz Haber and his development of the Haber Process. The manufacture of Ammonia has a lot of history and science behind it, it has impacted our history as well as our present day, mainly in our environment. Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch, two German Chemists, developed the Haber Process, in the early 1900s, as ammonia was very difficult to produce on a high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though, 80% of ammonia produced is used in agriculture for fertilizers (Ammonia, Wikipedia), it is also used for refrigerant gas, to purify water supplies, and in the manufacturing of explosives, fabrics, pesticides and many other chemicals (health.ny.gov). Ammonia is a in house hold cleaning supplies. The cleaning solution for bigger projects, industrial use contains larger amounts of ammonia and will cause irritation. There also have been some negative uses, thoughts, and effects of the Haber Process. With the Haber Process, the nitrogen cycle is thrown off track, and it creates an imbalance, due to that large amount of extraction from our atmosphere. To complete the process, there is a high fossil fuel input, as you require 400 550oC and that uses a lot of energy. When ammonia enters the body, due to breathing, it sometimes reacts with water to produce ammonium hydroxide. This is very corrosive chemical and has been known to damage cells in the body that it comes in contact with. During World War 1, the Germans took the research used by the German Chemists, to kill troops that were stuck in trenches, with Ammonia poisoning. Every good thing comes with a side of bad effects, and Haber and Bosch s discovery had almost a full serving of bad. Though we still use ammonia in our day to day lives, as well has for industrial purposes, there are many ways that it has impacted us negatively. One of the biggest subject that has ... Socrates made the right choice in his decision to not resist his fate, because those who would have helped him would have rendered themselves liable to a similar fate, he would have had to live as a fugitive and would have had his same problem with the authorities wherever he went, and he also would have removed any power the Athenian courts ever had. One of the very important techniques that I learned on this book was the power of word of mouth. Basically when a group young adults went for a trip, they makes sure that everyone will have an awesome trip and when they came back they will tell their friends and relatives about their experience. They will spread the word on how amazing the experience they had on the trip. They will talk about what attractions they ve seen or where they went in Europe or what activities they did. At this point, when other people heard about their great feedback for the trip, it will give a huge interest to other people. For me personally, if my friend went to that trip and told me that she had a really great time on the trip, I would definitely book on that trip too if I want to travel. It will give me an interest and it shows that I can trust the company because they had a really great customer feedback. Another thing is to treat the passenger s complaints seriously no matter how big or small it is because you ll never know what could happen and it could possibly affect the whole company. Make sure you identify and diffuse any issue before it becomes a major. Because if you didn t solve the problem, it doesn t only affect the company but also the customer s loyalty and trust which is very important for a business. When you make sure that you satisfied their needs even though you made a mistake, you can solve it earlier or later before it gets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He did not lose focus of his main goal in life and saw people in the same way even after his traumatizing experience. Comparison Of Moral Arguments And Ethical Theories How I Approach Moral Arguments and Ethical Theories The controversial moral argument that is going to be discussed in this paper is homosexuality in relation to religious beliefs and gay marriage. My beliefs are that this practice is morally wrong, but who am I to be the judge? The approach used to base this reasoning on is a simple question. Does this issue affect me? If a homosexual couple has the desire to wed, I do not see any possible reason that this would affect my livelihood. I will let God decide if this practice is acceptable or should be punished. Logically, there is no way to determine who is right or wrong in the argument, but it is useful to determine if the argument is good or bad (Mosser, 2011). A few premises that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My viewpoint follows the principle of deontology. There is no excuse for lying. Lying is a hurtful act of disrespect and thus should not be done (Mosser, 2011, Ch. 5, p. 15). Once again, this belief is due to religious beliefs that lying is wrong. The utilitarian viewpoint of lying is acceptable if it benefits the greatest good for the greatest number of people is a weak argument. What about those people that do not benefit? Do they not matter? I believe that everyone can contribute. Thomas Plante, Ph. D. a professor with Santa Clara University has this to say on the subject, When it comes to making ethical decisions we need to balance the pros and cons of using multiple approaches to ethics in order to figure out what the right thing to do really is. Sometimes different ethical approaches conflict. When they do, certain values or approaches must trump others. So, compassion might trump honesty on occasion (Plante, 2011). While this viewpoint is utilitarian, there are many valid points. However, I always believe that honesty is the best policy to save any future repercussions such as a lost friendship, or a legal dispute. I also believe there are ways to get around lying to keep someone s feelings from being hurt. Aceves OPERATION ANACONDA: JOINT OPERATION PLANNING ERRORS Joint Operations After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, the United States (US) declared a global war on terrorism. Afghanistan was the first battleground with Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; US forces engaged enemy combatants in effort to deter, isolate and destroy, terrorist networks. In the early stages, unified land operations consisted mostly of special operation forces (SOF) with support of the US Airforce, US Navy, allies and Afghan Security Forces (ASF). This early collation was a joint effort that proved successful during the early phases of the operation. Engagement of enemy forces successfully deterred their operational capabilities and efforts that pushed enemy forces into Shahi Kot Valley. This concentration of enemy forces in Shahi Kot Valley fostered the development of Operation ANACONDA, a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, multinational (JIIM) operation. The joint operations planning process (JOPP), employed during the operational design failed to achieve the desired combat power necessary for successful shaping operations and decisive action. Copernicus changed history as we know it today and if it wasn t for him, today s astronomers may still be theorizing about the basic facts of our solar system. Nicolaus Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473 in Poland. His parents, Nicolaus and Barbara, were leading merchants and parented four children, Copernicus being the youngest. Copernicus had only 27 recorded observations in his lifetime though he most likely had more than that. He viewed eclipses, planets, stars, and much more. This was a firsthand account by Madame Marie Curie herself when she addressed Vasser College on May 14th 1921. Madame Curie, while discussing her past with the discovery of radium, could have talked about the whole history of her experimentation, but broke it down to a very brief account. I will have to say, that even though it was a short and brief writing, it took longer to read due to the lack of my ability for me to understand what was being explained. However, Madame Curie was able to briefly give a description of what the process was for her and her husband to discover radium. This particular source would be considered a primary source because it is words from Madame Curie and provides a detail of her work with radioactivity. Madame Curie stated at the beginning of her address that she could talk for a while about radioactivity, but since there was little time she made a brief explanation about her early work with radium. From there you get the satisfaction that Madame Curie has from her work with radium. She almost, in her introduction, gives radium somewhat of an identity by talking about how the mineral is no longer a baby and is more than twenty years old. With that said it provides feelings from Madame Curie. She begins her description of the events 24 years earlier back to 1897 while working with her husband, who she refers to as Prof Curie. Empty Hands Summary Empty Hands is the memoir of Sister Abegail Ntleko, and it is a great story of how hard work and determination can help anyone make their dreams come true no matter the difficulty. Ntleko had a rather humble beginning. She grew up without much money in a community where education for young girls was not common or deemed necessary. Young girls were raised caring for the household and were expected to be married off at a young age to do the exact same thing for the rest of their lives. Her father had the same mindset, and it took years and a meeting with the community chief for him to allow her to enter the first grade at age 14. Because Ntleko s mother was no longer with her, members of the village would often visit her and help her with things she needed. Mrs. Mckechnie was one of them who made a lasting impact on Abegail. She encouraged her to get education, and that is what she went on to do. After elementary school, she could no longer afford the requirements, so she ran away to work for a family, and it wasn t until she had enough money saved up to afford schooling that she returned home. With the helpof Mrs. Mckechnie, she was able to complete high school and even nursing school. After becoming a certified nurse, Ntleko was bringing in steady income and began adopting children in need. She also began acquiring different certifications such as psychology and ophthalmology that would later help her be of service to various different communities. Her first community ... The Red River rebellion was caused when Canada gained a lot of land in Rupert s Land, this scared a lot of us as we feared for our culture, and land rights under the control of the Canadiens. Because of this, we banded together to create a provisional government to make terms for entering their colony. This created the province of Manitoba, a new name for the same home. In, 1812 Scottish settlers created our colony at the junction of two rivers. In, 1836 the population was mostly French and English MГ©tis and HBC owned our land. The rebellion started in 1850 when the rule of the Hudson s bay company was threatened (under attack) by the British, the Canadians, and the Americans. In 1860 they were readying to sell Rupert s land and the Northwest to Canada, this included us.
