The Stereotypes Of Monty Python And The Holy Grail
Chi Kit Peter Wong Stereotypes of The Middle Ages Pervaded in Monty Python and The Holy
Grail From the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I found several funny stereotypes of the
Middle Ages. Firstly about men in the Middle Ages, they were portrayed as foolish and sluggish.
Such as its Salem witch trial scene, men distinguished a witch through weights of wood and duck,
as well as they used animal as weapons. Secondly concerning language, the director presented
characters speaking English in various accents. Yet, it is not a fixed stereotype of the Middle Ages,
as the director may just used an English script for viewers, and decided characters in various accent
which correspond to multiple languages. Meanwhile, he depicted a stereotype

My Father Was a Paradox Essay
I ll miss my father, I already miss him, greatly... I ll miss his stories, his laughter, the fire of his
opinions, and especially the quiet strength of him. Yet, I think it s one of the truths of the world
that the people we miss the most are also the ones that we can t miss, because we carry so much of
them with us.
My father was something of a paradox. On the one hand he stands out in my mind for his stories,
his wit, and the fire of his opinions. Anyone who s argued with him, and that s quite a few of us,
knew that he had strong opinions and argued them with zeal. On the other hand, at the same time,
he was a quiet man, who kept a lot of what he felt on the inside, someone who taught more by
example than by lecture.
Did he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We never discussed it again, but what he said affected me all my life. For questions like that he
didn t teach by giving me the answers, but by getting me to ask the questions and answer them
myself.
I ll never, in this life at least, be able to go to him for any more answers, but as long as I live, I ll
do what he taught me... ask the questions, think, and find my own answers. And in my heart and
in my memory, he ll be there by example, guiding me. And with him will be his stories. He was
full of stories. There was nothing he didn t have a story or a joke for. And he was always such a
wonderful subject for stories.
I cannot forget his tale about sneaking into the doctor s office with his friend so they could
memorize the eye chart and pass the medical exam to join the Navy. Stories that end with a
father looking down at a little boy, dazed, scared and bruised and saying simply, Don t do that.
You could hurt yourself. Stories about the man who unscrewed the table leg that came between
him and the pretty woman sitting next to him at a dinner party. Stories about the fellow, out
sailing, faced with bad weather rolling in who looks up and yells, Knock it off, Lord. only to have
the weather roll away. Stories about anchors thrown overboard before they were tied to the anchor
rode.
I could tell stories about that man

Assyrian Empire Research Paper
The Assyrian Empire was revolutionized as one of the most powerful forces of the ancient
world, lasted about 1,875 years before its downfall began, and went through many heights and
lows in its time. However, why did Assyria really succeed for as long as it did? Why did it reach a
downfall period and essentially fail around 609 BC? Over this essay, it will be explained in more
detail on how the Assyrian Empire started, how it evolved over time, and why eventually this
evolution inevitably led to their failure.
Assyria started around the 3rd millennium BCE, but was really acceptably founded around 1900
BCE, by King Erishum I, who placed the temple of Ashur on the site, reinforcing the land
essentially. (Joshua J. Mark) Ashur was the highest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning, Mitanni came to control Assyria, but the Hittites invaded and took over, and
replaced the court with mainly Hittites. In that court, king Eriba Adad I, gained influence, and
the Assyrians saw opportunity to assert their out autonomy and expand Assyria. They expanded
outward, into areas previously held by Mitanni. The Hittites, seeing this, stuck back, but were
unable to defeat them, and king Ashur Urballit I came to defeat the remaining Mitanni forces
under Hittite commanders. The Assyrians took huge chunks of the land previously owned by
the Mitanni, and later on expanded north and south, driving out the Hittites and conquering
their major strongholds. The general populace of Mitanni were either planned to be deported
safely or assimilated into the growing empire of Assyria. Those who resisted were killed and
sold into slavery. As Assyrians had successfully taken control over former Mitanni, it was a very
prosperous period of the empire. This prosperity increased when Assyrian sacked Babylon and
took control over it. However, about twenty years later in 1200 BC, with the death of Tiglath
Pileser, Assyrians hit a short downfall period, but were revitalized in the reign of Tiglath Pileser I,
who conquered

Command Center Journey
1.Two young boys are officially assumed to be dead by the Coast Guard, and we ve suspended
our search. My pulse slowed, my breathing stabilized and my pace slowly quickened. The music
in my headphones is ambient; words interrupt my concentration and I need to be able to focus
and reflect. There are cars on the bridge backed up for a half mile, filled with people, but I don t
see their faces. Blurring aqua marines and concrete colors fill my vision, but I am not seeing any
of it. As the music and the pounding of my footfalls fall into synchronization, what I see is faces.
Not the faces of the two boys, however, the faces I see are the faces of my people in the Command
Center. We did everything we could, but sometimes, despite the best... Show more content on

Success is not a mountain peak, nor is it the finish line. Success is persevering in the journey. That
s important to remember in a Command Center, because everyday a dozen missions are planned,
many cases worked, a multitude of details attended to and a legion of challenges to be sorted. In
this journey is no finishing, there is no summit. Achieving success in a Command Center is a
marathon without end, a 24 hour a day race against failure, and success is possible only through the
unified belief of those undertaking the effort that their actions matter, that what they are doing is
personally and professionally meaningful. Overtime, the constant flow of cases can erode morale
like a river carving a canyon. Chasms can appear in the confidence and motivation of the
watchstanders, which is a recipe for failure. This is where the third and final pillar of my leadership
philosophy comes into play: Vigilant Inspiration. To combat the grinding down of the most
important element in the Command Center, the will of the watchstander, requires vigilance and
constant recognition to maintain the motivation of my people. Enthusiasm is a delicate flower that
flourishes in a harsh environment only with care and vigilance, encouragement, praise, and the
belief that we have each others success as our priority. To this end, I must be vigilant to praise
whenever it s merited, to document positive performance, and to connect on a personal level with
my people to find out what makes them tick. Only through knowing my people, am I able to
perceive when they are struggling with a deficit of motivation, burnout, or ennui. Only through
showing them that I care about them personally am I able to earn their trust. Only through having
their trust am I able to earn their respect. Only through having their respect am I able to make praise
meaningfully. This is Vigilant

Contextual Theory. The Overall Purpose Of This Brief Paper
Contextual Theory The overall purpose of this brief paper is to characterize the main concepts,
main techniques, and any current research that supports contextual therapy in relation to contextual
theory. While the purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories not
addressed in class sessions, contextual therapy (which has also been referred to as contextual family
therapyin prior literature) is not per se a theory as much as it is a method of therapy based on Ivan
Boszormenyi Nagy s contextual theory. In his determination that there is more to understanding an
individual s challenges in relation to others, Boszormenyi Nagy designed contextual therapy to
draw attention to his empirically based findings from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Excluding such information could lead to misrepresenting the factors by which the client
experiences the world and bankrupt the influence of culture on development. Boszormenyi Nagy
stretches facts to include those details about world views that are a product of our own created
reality that is culminated by choice and agency. While a child certainly does not have a choice into
what family they are born into, the parents do have a choice into how they will interact with each
other around that child, such that, inconsistencies or neglect of that healthy relationship could
create for the child a fact that unhealthy conflict is normal or that they must choose sides of
affection (Goldenthal, 2005). Since there is an underlying foundation of psychotherapy present,
contextual therapy accounts for facts that may be present that the client may not be able to bring to
their conscience or that they may be unwilling to acknowledge that were out of their control, but
nevertheless, still occurred (Ruzgyte, 2011).
Psychology. The functioning of the person within was also heavily regarded by Boszormenyi Nagy,
such that his reflections from psychoanalytical theories would illuminate the need to connect the
parts of the individual psyche: cognitive abilities; emotional functioning; instinctual drives; internal
conflicts; moral and intellectual development; and concepts of object relations theory

Peyton Approved Uses An Accrual Accounting System
Peyton Approved was formed a little over a year ago in the kitchen of the owner of a wonderful
Airedale named Peyton. Peyton has severe allergies and cannot eat dog treats from the store.
Peyton Approved sells homemade dog treats that are all natural and hypoallergenic. The
company s president (also Peyton s owner) started selling these treats out of her home to other
dog owners who wanted all natural dog treats for their dogs. Due to more demand of the all
natural, hypoallergenic dog treats, Peyton Approved needs more room to make the treats and
reach more dog owners. Peyton approved feels moving into a storefront will reach more dog
owners who want their dogs to have all natural dog treats. Financing will provide Peyton Approved

Puppy Mill California Essay
CALIFORNIA BECOMES THE FIRST STATE TO BAN PUPPY
MILLS.
California becomes the first state in the US to put an end to puppy mills.
According to the new laws, pet stores have to work with NGOs, animal shelters or rescue
operations in order to sell a dog, cat or rabbit.
Puppy mills or puppy farms are places where the animals are bred for sale and profit. Every year
thousands of animals are born in unhygienic and filthy conditions in puppy mills which further
causes diseases and death of the animal. Puppy mills have always been criticized as they only work
for profit and do not keep animal welfare in mind. The animals are often excessively bred and kept
in over crowded dog farms. Sometimes the animal has often developed certain diseases or ailments

Matt Bershadker, president and CEO of the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said: This landmark law breaks the puppy mill supply chain that
pushes puppies into California pet stores and has allowed unscrupulous breeders to profit from
abusive practices.
Governor Jerry Brown who passed this considerate law has currently passed no comment on his
verdict.
In February this year, it was also made illegal to sell puppies below eight weeks old as this is a
very crucial time for both the mother and kids and it is for the best of the pups stay with the mother
during this crucial time.
Anyone selling a litter of three or more pups would also have to apply for a formal license to go
ahead for the practice. This ensures proper and humane treatment of the animals. Often breeder
abuse animals for their profit and are bred imprudently even when their bodies can not handle
pregnancy. Most of them are also bred at an early age only for the sole purpose of more than
desired profit and human greed.
Although the decision did not go without any criticism as some of the breeders felt strongly against
it and showed their unhappiness

Drug Trafficking In Afghanistan
Within a few weeks after 9/11, the CIA gave millions of dollars to the Northern Alliance to help with
the fight against the Taliban. Obviously, the intelligence community wasn t concerned with drug
trafficking and in March of 2002 the U.S. State Department reported that the Northern Alliance had
done nothing to curb the production of opium. As a result, in 2002, Afghanistans opium production
had returned to a similar level (3,400 tons) before the ban from the Taliban. Afghanistan quickly
regained its monopoly on the world s opium supply, roughly 90% of the world s opium.
Most American media outlets have blamed the Taliban for the resurgence in Afghan opium
production. In fact, a few post 9/11 public service announcements began to state irrefutably ... Show

President of the Karsia administration. Those suspicions came to fruition in 2009 when WikiLeaks
released a document sent by an ambassador stating that he had traveled to Dubai with $52 million
in cash. Likewise, Massoud s successor as Vice President, Muhammad Qasim Fahim, was another

Basketball Injury
A male basketball player came into the clinic complaining of back pain that sometimes travels
down his leg. This athlete has a long history( 3+ years) of back pain and often uses advil to get
through practice and games. The pain often starts as pinching in the lumbar spine and as it gets
worse, becomes a tight shooting pain into the left leg. The pain is often described as tightness or
pulling with no numbness or tingling. He often has difficulty bending over to pick something up
or tying his shoes while standing. This athlete has no previous injuries besides multiple inversion
ankle sprains and has never observed any SHARDD on his back or down the back of his leg. Upon
observation, sway back and excessive kyphosis of the thoracic spine was noted,... Show more

However, even when the right leg was lifted, the pain was reproduced in the left. He was also
only able to lift his legs approximately 40 degrees off the table. I then tried to explain the slump
test to the athlete. For directions, I explained that you want to be sitting and have bad posture. With
his femur in a dangling position, dorsiflexion and his knee at 60 degrees flexion caused a
reproduction of symptoms. This was exasperated when the athlete attempted to lift his legs at all
or put his head down. From here we checked piriformis using two different tests/checks. First, we
had him prone, knees bent and together. He was instructed to let his feet fall out. His left leg was
close to vertical whereas the right was 30 degrees from 90. I felt comfortable with all of these
special tests as they did not involve therapist hand positioning, just clear instructions. After
explaining the slump test, I thought it would be beneficial to also demonstrate it since the cue of
have bad posture did not seem to work initially. From this experience I have become more cognizant
of how I provide instructions. Although my intention is not to insult the athlete, I need to

The Legacy Of Abraham Cahan
Jews have been lashed out on, time and time again throughout history, but one man who saw this
hatred for Jews first hand and tried turning the tables, was a man by the name of Abraham Cahan.
He is known as being the first prominent writer to emerge from the biggest wave of Jewish
immigration from Russia, but he was much more than just a writer. He was an editor and critic of
several New York newspapers, a sociologists reformer, and a teacher of English to many Jewish
immigrants following in his footsteps. Cahan valued his Jewish religion, but not only that, he
valued language and in particular English and Yiddish which he wrote in. He believed in telling the
story of immigration through fiction which he did in his literature, by taking... Show more content

This is just one battle in a continuous war against maintaining his religion, but he had a
changing world around him tearing him apart from it. In this constant war, he ends up having to
flee Europe in particular Russia, because he gets tangled in a mess involving an assassination
attempt of the Czar. This journey leads him to America, where he is first greeted by the Statue
of Liberty at Ellis Island. When Cahan came to America many things changed for him, he was
forced to leave behind his old life and try his hardest to assimilate himself into American culture.
He left behind many aspects of his culture, but was still able to continue on with many of them.
One piece of his life that was hardest to maintain was his language. Although he held onto
Yiddish, Russian, and Hebrew, he immediately had to learn English which soon became a large
part of his career and what made him so astounding.America is said to be the home of the free, and
this is what so many immigrants desired when coming to America, and Cahan was no exception.
He was a tremendous aid to those immigrants by devoting the first years of his life in America to
teaching English. While doing this, he also lectured and wrote articles on Jewish life in the city for
countless New York magazines. Within these articles he answers many questions on tough
arguments, mostly circled around religion. An example of one

The most intriguing character in The Jade Peony Essay
In the Jade Peony of Wayson Choy, poh poh or the grandmama seems to be the most intriguing
character. Her character is complex for her grandchildren who are the narrators of the novel and
therefore complicated for the reader of the novel; but not so complicated for their neighbour Mrs.
Lim or even Father and stepmother who are from the generation in between. Even though Poh poh s
character is not the narrator, she is present throughout the story even after her death. In each of the
three stories, she is mentioned, described, or quoted by the narrators. She has a huge impact on all
narrators. Poh poh like any other grandparent likes to teach her culture, traditions, and language to
her grandchildren. The only difference is that her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though it seems that Poh poh discriminates between girls and boys, there are factors that can
make this judgment wrong. Beside Kiam whose childhood is not so much mentioned in the book,
there are three children that are raised in the family and between them only Liang had a normal
life. Jung, the second brother, was adopted from a home where the father used to hit him with a
belt and the mother either committed suicide or was murdered. He had enough of hardship in his
first four years of life that could make Pho poh decide not to be anymore harsh on him. And the
other brother, Sekky, was weak and sick from the beginning of his life. Again, this may be another
factor that could stop Poh poh from being tough on him as well. Another reason that makes life for
Liang harder is that she as a girl should spend more time at home while other boys might have
more chance to get more freedom outside the house while helping the father or doing manly jobs.
There is no doubt that Poh poh is a traditional person. She obviously differs and distinguishes
between boys and girls. For example, Liang should help Poh poh in cleaning and taking care of the
new born baby, Sekky, while boys are playing. On the other hand, boys, like Kiam and Jung, should
help their father in collecting the

Greek, India, and China Contributions
Today, our lives are based on technology. We have computers, iPods, phones, televisions, etc... but,
what about the unnoticeable contributions that affect us more than we could imagine. The screw
for example. The screw is everywhere around us. In fact its in your computers, televisions, iPods,
and phones. The screw holds your more significant objects together in place. Like the screw the
contributions of Greece, India, and China all have an impact on us today but it goes unnoticeable.
All of these civilizations were created around the same time and fell around the same time period.
Even though all these civilizations took place in around the same time period they all have very
different impacts on the world we have today. In the times of Ancient Greece, India, and China
there were numerous contributions that influenced us today, but, Greece had more contributions in
math and medicinethat lead them to have the greatest overall impact on us today. Greece has
contributed a lot to society today in the medical field and in mathematics. Starting with medicine,
the modern day medical symbol was derived from Greece. The god Asclepius (the god of health)
thought snakes were holy so he created the medical symbol we know of today of a staff coiled
around a staff with wings (Michael and Woods, Ancient medicine: from sorcery to surgery, 56).

Ancient Civilization
All ancient civilisations were very well developed. Discuss.
It is evident that most aspects of life in ancient civilisations were well developed. Many aspects of
society in Ancient Greece were very advanced. Ancient Egypt was a very advanced civilisation in
many different parts of life. Ancient Chinese culture, entertainment and architecture were all well
developed, as well as numerous other things.
Many aspects of Ancient Greek society were well developed. Ancient Greek religion was very
advanced, with many gods and goddesses. All the gods and goddesses represented, or were god
of something, for example, Poseidon was god of the sea, storms, earthquakes and horses. They had
many myths and legends about gods with morals to teach lessons and some to explain things, and
some are still told. To the Greeks, worshiping the gods was a part of daily life. Huge temples and
structures were built to honour the gods, which remain today. Architecture in ancient Greecewas
very advanced, with many incredibly well built and designed buildings and sculptures, with some
remaining to his day. An aspect of Ancient Greek architecture that has continued to be used today is
columns. Columns were used in many structures, providing strength and stability. An example of a
building from ancient Greece that used columns is the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the goddess
Athena, which still stands today. The ancient Greeks were the first known civilization to have a

Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology
Whether you are a geek, buying the latest smartphone, game console, and latest Apple products
or you are just the minimalist who only has the necessary smart devices like your phone and
maybe a laptop, it is undeniable that technology is making its way into every nook and cranny
of modern society. Owning your own car was treated as a way to be free back in the eighties, but
now owning a car is starting to become a thing of the past as companies such as UBER and Lyft
are replacing taxies but making a new form of public transportation constantly available almost
everywhere around the world. Even though technology has basically taken over every aspect of
our lives does not mean that every person has embraced it with open arms. These days we still
have an ongoing debate about whether smart devices and the internet are helping or hurting
society as a whole or not. Enthusiasts on this topic tend to look at a more optimistic view on this
new technological age expressing how they think that robots and artificial intelligence will
change our world for the better both Kevin Kelly s Better than Human , Clive Thompson s
Smarter than You Think , as well as Brooke Gladstone and Josh Neufeld s The Influencing
Machines explore. On the other hand, skeptics tend to write about how these new technologies
are tainting our own capabilities and making us more dependent rather than relying on our own
skills, says Nicholas Carr in his article Is Google Making Us Stupid? . Although technology has
changed many aspects of our lives we should still pay attention to how it has benefitted many
aspects of our daily lives. One of the main concerns that people have in accordance to new
technological advances is how it affects our brains and how we think. Although I tend to be an
enthusiast when it comes to new cutting edge hardware or software I still agree with Carr on the
fact that technology may not be this great learning tool with no downsides that everyone hypes it
up to be. In fact, Carr had one thing that really struck me when he talked about how the style of
reading promoted by the Net, a style that puts efficiency and immediacy above all else, may be

All systems also have inputs, processor, outputs and management (Hamilton 1997).
Input is something put into a system to achieve the results, such as human resources, material,
money (Hamilton 1997).
Output is the result which is produced by a system from a specific input (intended and unintended)
(Hamilton 1997). For instance, an electrical utility takes on input from the environment in form of
raw material, such as coal, oil, water power; and provides output in form of electricity (Yuvienco
2008).
The transformation to convert a system s inputs to the outputs is called process .
People influence the conversion process through management with standards, feedback and initiator
or functions for planning, organizing, directing and controlling (Hamilton 1997) 3.6.2. Sub system
Sub system is the part of system, is the group of elements and provides a picture of the structure of
the system (Hamilton 1997). Each sub system affects the other sub system and the system as a
whole (Vyas 2010). 3.6.3. Boundary
A boundary could be thought of as an imaginary line which determines what is inside and what is
outside of a system (Tamas 1987), and which components should be treated as the parts of system
(Hamilton 1997). 3.6.4. Feedback
Feedback is the reaction of the environment to the output (Vyas 2010). The information

In 1859, when Manhattan still had many farms, near the Battery on the island s southern tip The
Great American Tea Company was launched. It grew, and outgrew its name, becoming in 1870 The
Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Company, which in 1912 begat the first A P Economy Store, a semi

By 1920, there were 4,500 such stores; by 1930, 15,000. In 1936, in Braddock, Pennsylvania, A P

Neil Irwin of The New York Times writes of Amazon: The online retailer is on a collision course
with Walmart to try to be the predominant seller of pretty much everything you buy. Each one is
trying to become more like the other Walmart by investing heavily in technology, Amazon by
opening physical bookstores and now buying physical supermarkets. Something similar, says Irwin,
is happening in nearly every major industry, benefiting the biggest and best run organizations, to the
detriment of upstarts and second fiddle players.
In the accelerated churning of today s capitalism, changing tastes and expanding choices destroy
some jobs and create others, with net gains in price and quality. But disruption is never restful,
and America now faces a decision unique in its history: Is it tired tired of the turmoil of creative
destruction? If so, it had better be ready to do without creativity. And ready to stop being what it

The Hammer of Thor The Norse Gods are real and the monsters are real too! Magnus Chase is
dead, but is now one of Odin s warriors. The story takes place six weeks after rebinding the wolf
god Fenris and postponing Ragnarok, the end of the world. The Hammer of Thor, written by
Rick Riordan, is a great book and well worth reading because it is funny and full of fights. In this
book, readers continue to follow Magnus Chase s adventures after the events of the first book,
Sword of Summer. Magnus is an Einherjar, a warrior of Odin, who has a magical talking sword
named Jack that cannot sing the top forty hits. There is also a new character, a hall mate on floor
nineteen, Alex a child of Loki. Sam is a Valkyrie who is Arabic and the one who brought Magnus

They travel to realms including Alfheim, where Hearth has to pay a debt to his father. When
they leave Hearth s dad is alone with a cursed ring. They also go to Jotunheim to search for a

about his hammer. While at thor s house Sif make the girls wedding dresses and Magnus a
tuxedo so they can get into the place where the hammer is hidden in the realm of Midgard. The
reader will enjoy the realms because there is a different type of danger in each one. What is also
great about the Hammer of Thor is the humor that the author includes in the story through Jack,
Magnus talking sword. It is funny how Jack has a crush on all sorts of magical weapons. It is
also funny how he acts like a real person because he is a sword that talks even though he does not
have a mouth. Jack is so funny because he thinks he can sing the top forty songs, but he can not
sing at all. Jack also says things that would direct people to look at his face but he does not have a

Social And Economic Changes In America Essay
In the 35 years between 1865 and 1900, more social and economic change took place in American
then in all of its history prior. The Civil War brought about a huge amount of change in politics and
ushered in the Industrial Age. With this boom in industry also came the socioeconomic
transfiguration in America from rural dwelling to city living. Population boomed and residency in
cities like Chicago increased fifty fold. This city boom came with the invention of the elevator and
new building techniques for building taller buildings. Also, expanding public transportation and
super stores like Macy s and Marshall Field s provided the means for inhabitants to function.
Everything was not sunshine and roses during this social revolution though. Waste removal couldn t
keep up the increase in refuse and it inevitably filled the streets. Economic success and the promise

Brooks Target Audience
I like this ad. I can see myself being in the model s shoes with ease. I find the tone of the headline
(i.e. thank you conveniently located porta potty ) and delivery of the ad quite witty and cleverly
executed. I sometimes feel intimidated and alienated by the hardcore athletes ridden in Nike
ads as a dancer. I don t fall into the typical sports categories Nike targets so their models and
athletes don t appeal to me. I am serious about dance, however, so I find that Brooks messaging
and quality is a suitable middle ground for me. This leads to my discussion of the target

This light hearted ad is consistent with their overall brand image, brand personality, and other ads
as their website features a running banana and what s been dubbed as the Brooks VIP Porta Potty
which you can also find available at a number of races. They also emphasize the importance of the
tech inside a shoe and their community is encouraged to share tips and advice to other runners.
Impact Magazine, where this ad is found, is a serious fitness, performance, and sport magazine, is a
little inconsistent with their overall image. Flipping through the magazine, all the other ads are
much more serious and/or information intensive. As a result, however, Brooks ad stands out and
grabs your attention. Although the ad overall is humorous and light hearted, they also include some
jargon about their shoes tech (i.e. mid foot crash pad) that only serious runners would understand,
including the reader. I believe it is an effective ad that grabs the reader s attention but still delivers
professionalism and credibility to its stance on high performance

Oppression In Toni Morrison s Short Story Sweetness By...
Oppression is at the root of many of the most serious, enduring conflicts in the world today. Toni
Morrison s short story Sweetness articulated her view on oppression more effectively than the song
Alright by Kendrick Lamar because she used anecdote and metaphor to justify her position. This
made the readers aware of the personal issues she went through. Sweetness elaborates on her view
regarding racebecause of the personal stories about a mother and the issues she had with her
daughter. Morrison s parents moved to Ohio from the South, hoping to raise their children in an
environment friendlier to blacks. This wasn t the case when she grew up, married her white
husband and got a child. In his eyes seeing his daughter was like seeing a lie that was cursed upon
him which made it impossible to except her. As a result, Morrison undoubtedly touches on how

Morrison wrote, Oh, yeah, I feel bad sometimes about how I treated Lula Ann when she was
little. She uses an anecdote to articulate her view on oppression by introducing the effect she had
on her child. While it might be true that Morrison uses deep and sensitive languages my overall
position does not change because her writing resonates with how profound the topic of
oppression is when she uses a metaphor. Morrison stated, She was so black she scared me.
Morrison used metaphor to further emphasize the fear she had for her daughter.Lula Ann(the
daughter) was born to a high yellow mother that rejected the infant just as she changes right in

Increasing Data Center Efficiency By Reallocation Of...
Increasing Data Center Efficiency By Reallocation of Virtual Machines Dynamically Abstract
Present operating system virtualization skill allows the live migration of virtual servers between
physical hosts after the primary consolidation. This provides latest avenue for performance
optimization. The paper aims on improving the data centers efficiency by dynamic reallocation
ie.in response to demand changes of virtual machines between physical servers. It allows to
estimate the reduction in the number of physical servers required to host the workload. Keywords:
Live Migration, Operating system virtualization, dynamic reallocation. Introduction Traditional
data centers consist of a large number of physical machines, each executing a single instance of
an operating system. For example, a certain group of servers supports email function and executes
Linux with an appropriate set of programs for email handling. Another group of servers may run
Windows providing access for remote users to office applications. Installing new application
usually means purchasing a new physical server and installing a new instance of an operating
system and the application. Capacity of the servers needs to be planned to handle peak loads of
applications resulting in a relatively low utilization leading to wasteful power consumption and
maintenance costs. A popular way of addressing this problem is server consolidation. It is an
optimization approach that leverages technique called operating

Bomb Calorimeter Lab Report
In order to determine whether a hydrocarbon produced heat upon altering its chemical state, a
bomb calorimeter was used to find the value of the heat of combustion for sucrose and an altoid
mint. Using benzoic acid to calibrate the bomb calorimeter, the two samples were individually
placed in a combustion cup within a stainless steel cylinder enveloped in water, sealed shut by a
shield containing a thermometer. After igniting the bomb, a change in temperature(В°C) versus time
(s) was recorded. Using the following equation, ∆T=T_c T_A r_1 (b a) r_2 (c b), the ∆T of
benzoic acid was 3.71В°K. Which lead to the determination of the effective heatcapacity, using
C_(v,cal)=((∆cH_b ∆nRT/m_b ) m_b+C_Fe+C_N)/∆T, to be 9,666.27J/g (percent error of

Considering the effective heat capacity is separate from the bomb calorimeters measurements of
standard heat of combustion, the value of the ∆rCv,cal can be identified through calibrating the
instrument with benzoic acid. However, the temperature change of the benzoic acid must be
measured first. In order to measure this temperature change, the following equation can be used.
∆T=T_c T_A r_1 (b a) r_2 (c b) (2)
Where Tc is the final temperature, TA is the initial temperature, r1 is the slope of the pre ignition,
r2 slope of the post rise period, a is the firing time, b is the temperature at 60% of total rise, and c
is the time when rise ends. Once the change in temperature is determined, the Cv equation for
benzoic acid can be utilized.
C_(v,cal)=((∆cH_b ∆nRT/m_b ) m_b+C_Fe+C_N)/∆T (3)
Where ∆cHb is the benzoic acid heat of combustion, CFe is the iron fuse wire correction for
combustion, T is the initial temperature, ∆n is the change in moles of the gas in combustion, and
Cn is the nitric acid formation correction factor. After the calibration of the bomb calorimeter, the

professional and federal standards for performing research with human and animal participants,

Within six days, riots broke out, psychological distresses were showcased by certain prisoners, and

There are a multitude of constituents that could be modified to make these unprincipled studies

There are several different types of data collection methods. It is up to the researcher to decide if
one type of data collection will be used or if several types of data collection will be used. Data can
be collected through observation, reanalysis of existing data, questionnaires, or interviews (Hagan,
2010).
It should be mentioned that data collection is in fact the research step. This step can be very
involved and time consuming. A person will be required to gather any and all information
available on their chosen subject. If the desired information is lacking, then he or she will need to
create the data. This data will then need to be compiled into one place for the researcher to analyze
it. After analyzing the data, any and all findings should be presented. This can be a rather lengthy
step because summarizing, reporting, statistically analyzing, and presenting the findings can
consume more time than all the other steps combined (Hagan, 2010).
Finally, conclusions, interpretations, and limitations should be drawn from the research. This is
the step in which the researcher will explain what he or she believes the study has to say.
Throughout the research process and especially at this juncture, the researcher must take care to
keep his or her personal beliefs and feelings out of their work (Hagan, 2010).
As previously mentioned, it is important that someone wanting to be involved in research in

The Diary of Anne Frank vs. The Hiding Place
Although there are similarities between The Diary of Anne Frank and The Hiding Place , there
are also differences, especially in the importance of the role Christian faith plays in The Hiding
Place . The Diary of Anne Frank and The Hiding Place are both very similar because the time
period took place during World War 2 and it had to do with the Nazis. The setting of the stories
both took place in the Netherlands. In The Diary of Anne Frank they are Jewish, but in The Hiding

Daan says he does not want a religion. He still follows all the Jewish laws, like when it was
Hanukkah, he did what he was supposed to do. Mr. Dussel was a very religious man and was
very devoted to his religion. Every night Mr. Dussel would do his Jewish practices before he went
to bed. There are some people in the annex that practice their religion more and some that don t
practice that often anymore. During Hanukkah, everybody in the annex came together to practice
their religion, even if they were unsure of what level they were on with their religion. ... Show more

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nootropics
Attention Deficit Disorder is diagnosed two ways: with or without hyperactivity. The inclusion
of hyperactivity is what makes the difference between a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. With
children between the ages of 6 and 12 being the most commonly diagnosed ages, it has also been
known to continue as they get older. With school aged children being affected the most, it can
become severely difficult for the student and teacher to work out a solution. Sure, the children can
be given the commonly prescribed medications, but they don t get excluded from possible
dependency or addiction. When it comes to prescribing medications for ADHD, physicians are
more apt to stick to the type that they know will work and these are Adderall and Ritalin.
Although these two drugs work for ADHD, many people today are starting to explore options that
involve the use of alternatives that pose no adverse reactions or long term effects. To help assist the
many people affected by this disorder who want a safer alternative, we will explore the many
benefits that can be obtained by using nootropics. Among the many alternatives, the best types

Examples Of Learned Helplessness

King Arthur Purple Symbolism In Medieval Literature
Heraldry is a type of visual language that was used as a means to distinguish between knights in
armor. This ancient language was unique to each knight or family due to the independent creation
of each blazon. King Arthur, son of King Uther Pendragon, is a transcendent mythological figure
that rules the over the kingdom of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table. However, despite
Arthur s significance in medieval literature the heraldic symbols present on his flag are debatable.
Firstly, Purple symbolizes royalty or sovereignty. Due to Arthur s sovereign status as king of
Camelot one may conclude that the color of his flag would be purple. Finally, the hawk signifies
an individual s inability to rest until a particular objective is achieved.

Intelligence can have many meanings depending on how you use it, but it is a common mistake to
mix up intelligence as synonymous with information. This is wrong as, information is not

that influence decision‐making when used with prevention, disruption and enforcement. These
benefits help prevent crime by creating a police force that is more efficient with its resources.
There is also a growing recognition within policing that external agencies may hold the key to
long term crime reduction. These agencies, such as local councils, housing authorities, and health

causal factors. (Ericson Haggerty, 2001) As agencies share information amongst each other, a

Unions and Political Economy
Union Articles Are union locals independent of employers or are they incorporated into the
management of the workplace? Union locals are not incorporated into the management of the
workplace. The most important objective of unions is to protect workers interests against
management s interests. This is because, in most cases, the interests of managers and those of
workers are very much different. Workers are interested in increasing their salaries, in reducing
their volume of work, and in improving workplace conditions. Managers are interested in increasing
profits while reducing investments. Therefore, negotiations must be made between the two parties.
Workers must unite and select certain people that can represent their interests in these negotiations.
This is how unions were developed. However, union locals are not independent of employers. This
is because union members and their leaders are employees of the company in case. The quality of
union members and leaders is added to the quality of employees, but this does not mean that union
locals are independent of employers. The power of employees against their employers can
significantly increase when they are union members. In addition to this, union leaders influence
their members. The politics within unions can take the form of democracies or oligarchies. In most
cases, oligarchies are formed within union members. This is usually the case when a small group of
union members takes control of other members, and

Similarities And Differences Of The Egyptian, Zhou...
Midterm I INTRODUCTION In historic times, multiple Societies of people living and collaborating
together in a community is what led to the formation of many Empires. Empires were comprised of
similar groups of people that were most often geographically located within close proximities. It is
interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou
Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement
that has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and
explain why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing
the primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating
things in the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the
differences that existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a
need from their respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated
the areas they excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most
successful Empire to be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire
world, and that are still in use today. Also, I determined the most important determining factor of an
Empire being successful was if it had an acceptable democratic and equal societal philosophy. Thus,
I found all these successful

started to become smartphones, TVs to smart TVs and on that chain, by now we have smart
watches and smart homes too. The topic Is smartphone only a phone? was chosen to critically
analyze how phones have changed the world and the people living on it after it became
smartphones. The lifestyle of people has changed extensively after the extent of smartphones,
which transformed the society to a new generation. Transformation of a society does not bring
only changes in people s behavior, it also brought new laws and regulations, range of code of
conduct and various ethical issues. From many issues only few will be discussed here to match the
given word limitation and the scope. All the issues mentioned under four different categories are
critically analyzed using evidences from authentic sources and opinions and arguments of different
writers have been discussed using the ethical framework. 1. Issues in Smartphones Whenever a new
technology that can be claimed as a game changer is introduced, one thing that leads most people to
adopt that technology is the curiosity inside them. Especially when

Assignment 3 Personality Traits
My first personality trait that I found will help me for a career is logical. For those don t know
what logical is, it s where you think things through, trying to find a reason or logical solution to
the problem. Some people even try to play it out. Playing checkers are a great example of how
logic is used. Chess is also a great example of how logic being used. The reason that this
characteristic fits me is i like to see how electronics are made, how they are designed and
processed, and want to know how to fix them. The second personality that I found useful and that
will help me for a career is articulate. Articulate is showing the ability to speak fluently and
coherently or speaking with ease. Teachers are a great example. Teachers can help students that
need help to understand a subject like math. Teachers can also help the students learn how to do a
math problem. Another example is when giving a speech to a crowd or a audience. You have to
talk smoothly and consistent when talking to people. This characteristic fit with my career because
when you fix a electronic problem, you talk to the person about what happened articulately instead
of just yelling at them. You tell the person what happened, how you fixed it, and how to take care
of it properly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Intuitive is having the ability to understand or know something without any direct evidence or
reasoning process. Fixing cars are a great example. People will say there s something wrong with
there vehicle and they want you to find and fix the problem. Computers are also a great example.
They can break at anytime and you have to see what went out. This characteristic fit with my career
because you can find and fix the problem without using a manual or

Similarities And Differences In Sylvia Plath s Forgiving...
When comparing any two types of writing, one must begin with finding the differences and
similarities between the two. A variety of differences and similarities can be found throughout any
types of writing. The poems Forgiving my Father, and Daddy, have some differences but they also
have numerous similarities that stick out to their readers. Lucille Clifton s, Forgiving my Father,
and SylviaPlath s Daddy, are two unique poems, both based on different scenarios, however, both
share an assortment of noteworthy similarities.
One similarity between Forgiving my Father, and Daddy, is the obvious hatred towards a father
figure, shared between both authors. In the poem Forgiving my Father, Clifton describes her
father as an old lecher old liar, (9 10). Then in Sylvia Plath s Daddy she says this statement about
her father But no less a devil for that, no not, / Any less the black man who, / Bit my pretty red
heart in two. (54 56). Both these quotes illustrate the hatred surrounding the authors fathers.
Clifton also says this statement about her father daddy old pauper old prisoner, old dead man
(20). By using these harsh words, she reveals to the reader the strong hatred that she feels toward
her father. Throughout Plath s poem Daddy, she calls her dad brute multiple times also revealing
how, like Clifton, she felt hatred toward her father. In both the poems the reader is referring to
their dead fathers; revealing to the audience that even after these men have passed away the
authors are still unable to forgive their fathers for the pain they caused in the lives. These are just a
few examples of how both Clifton and Plath shows the audience the hatred they feel toward their
fathers.
Hatred toward a father figure is one similarity shared between both Forgiving my Father, and
Daddy. However, the tone both the authors use in their poems are particularly similar. Anger is a
strong feeling and can take over someone s mind if they do not take control of it. Throughout both
poems the authors tone seems to be strongly surrounded around anger, which is shown to toward
their father figurers. Plath says, I have always been scared of you, / With your Luftwaffe, your
gobbledygook. (45 46). In

  • 2. The Stereotypes Of Monty Python And The Holy Grail Chi Kit Peter Wong Stereotypes of The Middle Ages Pervaded in Monty Python and The Holy Grail From the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I found several funny stereotypes of the Middle Ages. Firstly about men in the Middle Ages, they were portrayed as foolish and sluggish. Such as its Salem witch trial scene, men distinguished a witch through weights of wood and duck, as well as they used animal as weapons. Secondly concerning language, the director presented characters speaking English in various accents. Yet, it is not a fixed stereotype of the Middle Ages, as the director may just used an English script for viewers, and decided characters in various accent which correspond to multiple languages. Meanwhile, he depicted a stereotype ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Father Was a Paradox Essay I ll miss my father, I already miss him, greatly... I ll miss his stories, his laughter, the fire of his opinions, and especially the quiet strength of him. Yet, I think it s one of the truths of the world that the people we miss the most are also the ones that we can t miss, because we carry so much of them with us. My father was something of a paradox. On the one hand he stands out in my mind for his stories, his wit, and the fire of his opinions. Anyone who s argued with him, and that s quite a few of us, knew that he had strong opinions and argued them with zeal. On the other hand, at the same time, he was a quiet man, who kept a lot of what he felt on the inside, someone who taught more by example than by lecture. Did he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We never discussed it again, but what he said affected me all my life. For questions like that he didn t teach by giving me the answers, but by getting me to ask the questions and answer them myself. I ll never, in this life at least, be able to go to him for any more answers, but as long as I live, I ll do what he taught me... ask the questions, think, and find my own answers. And in my heart and in my memory, he ll be there by example, guiding me. And with him will be his stories. He was full of stories. There was nothing he didn t have a story or a joke for. And he was always such a wonderful subject for stories. I cannot forget his tale about sneaking into the doctor s office with his friend so they could memorize the eye chart and pass the medical exam to join the Navy. Stories that end with a father looking down at a little boy, dazed, scared and bruised and saying simply, Don t do that. You could hurt yourself. Stories about the man who unscrewed the table leg that came between him and the pretty woman sitting next to him at a dinner party. Stories about the fellow, out sailing, faced with bad weather rolling in who looks up and yells, Knock it off, Lord. only to have the weather roll away. • 4. Assyrian Empire Research Paper The Assyrian Empire was revolutionized as one of the most powerful forces of the ancient world, lasted about 1,875 years before its downfall began, and went through many heights and lows in its time. However, why did Assyria really succeed for as long as it did? Why did it reach a downfall period and essentially fail around 609 BC? Over this essay, it will be explained in more detail on how the Assyrian Empire started, how it evolved over time, and why eventually this evolution inevitably led to their failure. Assyria started around the 3rd millennium BCE, but was really acceptably founded around 1900 BCE, by King Erishum I, who placed the temple of Ashur on the site, reinforcing the land essentially. (Joshua J. Mark) Ashur was the highest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning, Mitanni came to control Assyria, but the Hittites invaded and took over, and replaced the court with mainly Hittites. In that court, king Eriba Adad I, gained influence, and the Assyrians saw opportunity to assert their out autonomy and expand Assyria. They expanded outward, into areas previously held by Mitanni. The Hittites, seeing this, stuck back, but were unable to defeat them, and king Ashur Urballit I came to defeat the remaining Mitanni forces under Hittite commanders. The Assyrians took huge chunks of the land previously owned by the Mitanni, and later on expanded north and south, driving out the Hittites and conquering their major strongholds. The general populace of Mitanni were either planned to be deported safely or assimilated into the growing empire of Assyria. Those who resisted were killed and sold into slavery. As Assyrians had successfully taken control over former Mitanni, it was a very prosperous period of the empire. This prosperity increased when Assyrian sacked Babylon and took control over it. However, about twenty years later in 1200 BC, with the death of Tiglath Pileser, Assyrians hit a short downfall period, but were revitalized in the reign of Tiglath Pileser I, who conquered ... • 5. Command Center Journey 1.Two young boys are officially assumed to be dead by the Coast Guard, and we ve suspended our search. My pulse slowed, my breathing stabilized and my pace slowly quickened. The music in my headphones is ambient; words interrupt my concentration and I need to be able to focus and reflect. There are cars on the bridge backed up for a half mile, filled with people, but I don t see their faces. Blurring aqua marines and concrete colors fill my vision, but I am not seeing any of it. As the music and the pounding of my footfalls fall into synchronization, what I see is faces. Not the faces of the two boys, however, the faces I see are the faces of my people in the Command Center. We did everything we could, but sometimes, despite the best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Success is not a mountain peak, nor is it the finish line. Success is persevering in the journey. That s important to remember in a Command Center, because everyday a dozen missions are planned, many cases worked, a multitude of details attended to and a legion of challenges to be sorted. In this journey is no finishing, there is no summit. Achieving success in a Command Center is a marathon without end, a 24 hour a day race against failure, and success is possible only through the unified belief of those undertaking the effort that their actions matter, that what they are doing is personally and professionally meaningful. Overtime, the constant flow of cases can erode morale like a river carving a canyon. Chasms can appear in the confidence and motivation of the watchstanders, which is a recipe for failure. This is where the third and final pillar of my leadership philosophy comes into play: Vigilant Inspiration. To combat the grinding down of the most important element in the Command Center, the will of the watchstander, requires vigilance and constant recognition to maintain the motivation of my people. Enthusiasm is a delicate flower that flourishes in a harsh environment only with care and vigilance, encouragement, praise, and the belief that we have each others success as our priority. To this end, I must be vigilant to praise whenever it s merited, to document positive performance, and to connect on a personal level with my people to find out what makes them tick. Only through knowing my people, am I able to perceive when they are struggling with a deficit of motivation, burnout, or ennui. Only through showing them that I care about them personally am I able to earn their trust. Only through having their trust am I able to earn their respect. Only through having their respect am I able to make praise meaningfully. This is Vigilant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Overall Purpose Of This Brief Paper Contextual Theory The overall purpose of this brief paper is to characterize the main concepts, main techniques, and any current research that supports contextual therapy in relation to contextual theory. While the purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate knowledge of counseling theories not addressed in class sessions, contextual therapy (which has also been referred to as contextual family therapyin prior literature) is not per se a theory as much as it is a method of therapy based on Ivan Boszormenyi Nagy s contextual theory. In his determination that there is more to understanding an individual s challenges in relation to others, Boszormenyi Nagy designed contextual therapy to draw attention to his empirically based findings from... Excluding such information could lead to misrepresenting the factors by which the client experiences the world and bankrupt the influence of culture on development. Boszormenyi Nagy stretches facts to include those details about world views that are a product of our own created reality that is culminated by choice and agency. While a child certainly does not have a choice into what family they are born into, the parents do have a choice into how they will interact with each other around that child, such that, inconsistencies or neglect of that healthy relationship could create for the child a fact that unhealthy conflict is normal or that they must choose sides of affection (Goldenthal, 2005). Since there is an underlying foundation of psychotherapy present, contextual therapy accounts for facts that may be present that the client may not be able to bring to their conscience or that they may be unwilling to acknowledge that were out of their control, but nevertheless, still occurred (Ruzgyte, 2011). Another reason that makes life for Liang harder is that she as a girl should spend more time at home while other boys might have more chance to get more freedom outside the house while helping the father or doing manly jobs. • 16. Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology Whether you are a geek, buying the latest smartphone, game console, and latest Apple products or you are just the minimalist who only has the necessary smart devices like your phone and maybe a laptop, it is undeniable that technology is making its way into every nook and cranny of modern society. Owning your own car was treated as a way to be free back in the eighties, but now owning a car is starting to become a thing of the past as companies such as UBER and Lyft are replacing taxies but making a new form of public transportation constantly available almost everywhere around the world. Even though technology has basically taken over every aspect of our lives does not mean that every person has embraced it with open arms. These days we still have an ongoing debate about whether smart devices and the internet are helping or hurting society as a whole or not. Enthusiasts on this topic tend to look at a more optimistic view on this new technological age expressing how they think that robots and artificial intelligence will change our world for the better both Kevin Kelly s Better than Human , Clive Thompson s Smarter than You Think , as well as Brooke Gladstone and Josh Neufeld s The Influencing Machines explore. On the other hand, skeptics tend to write about how these new technologies are tainting our own capabilities and making us more dependent rather than relying on our own skills, says Nicholas Carr in his article Is Google Making Us Stupid? . Although technology has changed many aspects of our lives we should still pay attention to how it has benefitted many aspects of our daily lives. One of the main concerns that people have in accordance to new technological advances is how it affects our brains and how we think. Although I tend to be an enthusiast when it comes to new cutting edge hardware or software I still agree with Carr on the fact that technology may not be this great learning tool with no downsides that everyone hypes it up to be. Increasing Data Center Efficiency By Reallocation of Virtual Machines Dynamically Abstract Present operating system virtualization skill allows the live migration of virtual servers between physical hosts after the primary consolidation. This provides latest avenue for performance optimization. The paper aims on improving the data centers efficiency by dynamic reallocation ie.in response to demand changes of virtual machines between physical servers. It allows to estimate the reduction in the number of physical servers required to host the workload. Keywords: Live Migration, Operating system virtualization, dynamic reallocation. Introduction Traditional data centers consist of a large number of physical machines, each executing a single instance of an operating system. For example, a certain group of servers supports email function and executes Linux with an appropriate set of programs for email handling. Another group of servers may run Windows providing access for remote users to office applications. Installing new application usually means purchasing a new physical server and installing a new instance of an operating system and the application. Capacity of the servers needs to be planned to handle peak loads of applications resulting in a relatively low utilization leading to wasteful power consumption and maintenance costs. A popular way of addressing this problem is server consolidation. It is an optimization approach that leverages technique called operating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After igniting the bomb, a change in temperature(В°C) versus time (s) was recorded. Using the following equation, ∆T=T_c T_A r_1 (b a) r_2 (c b), the ∆T of benzoic acid was 3.71В°K. Which lead to the determination of the effective heatcapacity, using C_(v,cal)=((∆cH_b ∆nRT/m_b ) m_b+C_Fe+C_N)/∆T, to be 9,666.27J/g (percent error of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering the effective heat capacity is separate from the bomb calorimeters measurements of standard heat of combustion, the value of the ∆rCv,cal can be identified through calibrating the instrument with benzoic acid. However, the temperature change of the benzoic acid must be measured first. In order to measure this temperature change, the following equation can be used. ∆T=T_c T_A r_1 (b a) r_2 (c b) (2) Where Tc is the final temperature, TA is the initial temperature, r1 is the slope of the pre ignition, r2 slope of the post rise period, a is the firing time, b is the temperature at 60% of total rise, and c is the time when rise ends. Once the change in temperature is determined, the Cv equation for benzoic acid can be utilized. C_(v,cal)=((∆cH_b ∆nRT/m_b ) m_b+C_Fe+C_N)/∆T (3) Where ∆cHb is the benzoic acid heat of combustion, CFe is the iron fuse wire correction for combustion, T is the initial temperature, ∆n is the change in moles of the gas in combustion, and Cn is the nitric acid formation correction factor. Data can be collected through observation, reanalysis of existing data, questionnaires, or interviews (Hagan, 2010). It should be mentioned that data collection is in fact the research step. This step can be very involved and time consuming. A person will be required to gather any and all information available on their chosen subject. If the desired information is lacking, then he or she will need to create the data. This data will then need to be compiled into one place for the researcher to analyze it. After analyzing the data, any and all findings should be presented. This can be a rather lengthy step because summarizing, reporting, statistically analyzing, and presenting the findings can consume more time than all the other steps combined (Hagan, 2010). Finally, conclusions, interpretations, and limitations should be drawn from the research. This is the step in which the researcher will explain what he or she believes the study has to say. Union locals are not incorporated into the management of the workplace. The most important objective of unions is to protect workers interests against management s interests. Workers are interested in increasing their salaries, in reducing their volume of work, and in improving workplace conditions. Managers are interested in increasing profits while reducing investments. Therefore, negotiations must be made between the two parties. Workers must unite and select certain people that can represent their interests in these negotiations. This is how unions were developed. Empires were comprised of similar groups of people that were most often geographically located within close proximities. It is interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement that has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and explain why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing the primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating things in the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the differences that existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a need from their respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated the areas they excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most successful Empire to be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire world, and that are still in use today. A variety of differences and similarities can be found throughout any types of writing. The poems Forgiving my Father, and Daddy, have some differences but they also have numerous similarities that stick out to their readers. Lucille Clifton s, Forgiving my Father, and SylviaPlath s Daddy, are two unique poems, both based on different scenarios, however, both share an assortment of noteworthy similarities. One similarity between Forgiving my Father, and Daddy, is the obvious hatred towards a father figure, shared between both authors. In the poem Forgiving my Father, Clifton describes her father as an old lecher old liar, (9 10). Then in Sylvia Plath s Daddy she says this statement about her father But no less a devil for that, no not, / Any less the black man who, / Bit my pretty red heart in two. (54 56). Both these quotes illustrate the hatred surrounding the authors fathers. Clifton also says this statement about her father daddy old pauper old prisoner, old dead man (20). By using these harsh words, she reveals to the reader the strong hatred that she feels toward her father. Throughout Plath s poem Daddy, she calls her dad brute multiple times also revealing how, like Clifton, she felt hatred toward her father. In both the poems the reader is referring to their dead fathers; revealing to the audience that even after these men have passed away the authors are still unable to forgive their fathers for the pain they caused in the lives. These are just a few examples of how both Clifton and Plath shows the audience the hatred they feel toward their fathers. Hatred toward a father figure is one similarity shared between both Forgiving my Father, and Daddy. However, the tone both the authors use in their poems are particularly similar. Anger is a strong feeling and can take over someone s mind if they do not take control of it.
