PIC16C6X MICROCONTROLLER
PIC MICROCONTROLLER:
 All Currently used PIC controllers are Harvard architecture
microcontrollers.
 PIC designed by micro technology.
 It can access 8, 16, 32 bit data for application purpose.
 In past days PIC had ROM, EPROM like erasable memories
only.
 In recent PICs Flash memory used as program memory.
 Some PIC models are designed with internal reprogrammable
memory.

CORE FEATURES:
 RISC instruction CPU with high performance.
 35 single word instructions.
 It has Interrupt capability.
 Direct, indirect, and relative addressing modes
 Used.
 Power-on Reset (POR)
 Power saving SLEEP mode.

ARCHITECTURE OF PIC16C6X
POWER ON RESET AND BROWN OUT RESET:
 Power on and brown out reset make sure that the chip operate only
when the supply within limit.
 In brown out reset mode, when the power supply goes below a
specified voltage it reset the PIC.
WATCH DOG TIMER:
 A watch dog timer reset the processor, if any malfunctions in the
software program and program deviates from normal operation.
INPUT/OUTPUT PORTS:
 Each port has a bidirectional capability, input and output ports are
Multiplexed with alternate functions for peripheral devices on the
microcontroller.

ARCHITECTURE OF PIC16C6X
ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERSION ADC:
 An ADC converts an analog signal into an equivalent digital
values.
INTERRUPT CONTROL :
 PIC microcontroller has one vectored interrupt location ( i.e.
0004H) but has 12 independent interrupt source can control, when
the central processing unit will deal with each source.
 There is no interrupt priority, only one interrupt is served at a time.
However interrupts can be masked.
USART:
 A universal synchronous asynchronous receiver transmission
when the serial data is transmitted asynchronously, data stream is
generated with the transmitter clock.
 The receiver must synchronize the incoming data stream to the
receiver clock.

ARCHITECTURE OF PIC16C6X
EEPROM/OTP/ROM:
 EEPROM/OTP/ROM development is supported by
ultraviolet erasable, programmable EPROM parts.
 Both small and large production runs are supported by lower
cost one time programmable.
 A very large run, microchips also supports customers with
very low cost ROM parts.
PROGRAM MEMORY:
 The PIC16C61 addresses 1K x 14 of program memory.
 The PIC16C62/62A/R62/64/64A/R64 address 2K x 14 of
program memory,
 The PIC16C63/R63/65/65A/R65 devices address 4K x 14 of
program memory.
 The PIC16C66/67 address 8K x 14 program memory.

STATUS REGISTER :
 The status register is a 8 bit register tat stores the status of the
processor. This is also stores carry zero and digit carry bits.
PROGRAM COUNTER STACK:
 An independent 8 level stack is used for the program counter. As
the program counter is 13 bit the stack is organized as 8 X 13 bit
registers. When an interrupt occurs the program counter is pushed
onto the stack.
FSR REGISTER:
 File selection register, is an 8 bit register used as data memory
address pointer. This is used in indirect addressing mode.

PIC16C6X MICROCONTROLLER PIC MICROCONTROLLER:  All Currently used PIC controllers are Harvard architecture microcontrollers.  PIC designed by micro technology.  It can access 8, 16, 32 bit data for application purpose.  In past days PIC had ROM, EPROM like erasable memories only.  In recent PICs Flash memory used as program memory.  Some PIC models are designed with internal reprogrammable memory. ARCHITECTURE OF PIC16C6X POWER ON RESET AND BROWN OUT RESET:  Power on and brown out reset make sure that the chip operate only when the supply within limit.  In brown out reset mode, when the power supply goes below a specified voltage it reset the PIC. WATCH DOG TIMER:  A watch dog timer reset the processor, if any malfunctions in the software program and program deviates from normal operation. INPUT/OUTPUT PORTS:  Each port has a bidirectional capability, input and output ports are Multiplexed with alternate functions for peripheral devices on the microcontroller.   • 10. ARCHITECTURE OF PIC16C6X ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERSION ADC:  An ADC converts an analog signal into an equivalent digital values. INTERRUPT CONTROL :  PIC microcontroller has one vectored interrupt location ( i.e. 0004H) but has 12 independent interrupt source can control, when the central processing unit will deal with each source.  There is no interrupt priority, only one interrupt is served at a time. However interrupts can be masked. USART:  A universal synchronous asynchronous receiver transmission when the serial data is transmitted asynchronously, data stream is generated with the transmitter clock.  The receiver must synchronize the incoming data stream to the receiver clock. ARCHITECTURE OF PIC16C6X EEPROM/OTP/ROM:  EEPROM/OTP/ROM development is supported by ultraviolet erasable, programmable EPROM parts.  Both small and large production runs are supported by lower cost one time programmable.  A very large run, microchips also supports customers with very low cost ROM parts. PROGRAM MEMORY:  The PIC16C61 addresses 1K x 14 of program memory.  The PIC16C62/62A/R62/64/64A/R64 address 2K x 14 of program memory,  The PIC16C63/R63/65/65A/R65 devices address 4K x 14 of program memory.  The PIC16C66/67 address 8K x 14 program memory.   • 12. ARCHITECTURE OF PIC16C6X STATUS REGISTER :  The status register is a 8 bit register tat stores the status of the processor. This is also stores carry zero and digit carry bits. PROGRAM COUNTER STACK:  An independent 8 level stack is used for the program counter. As the program counter is 13 bit the stack is organized as 8 X 13 bit registers. When an interrupt occurs the program counter is pushed onto the stack. FSR REGISTER:  File selection register, is an 8 bit register used as data memory address pointer.
