There are two main types of data: primary and secondary. Various techniques can be used to collect primary data, including interviews, surveys, focus groups, observation, and projective techniques like mapping and scaling. Performance appraisals formally assess how well an employee is doing their job and are conducted through appraisal interviews between the supervisor and subordinate. The aims of appraisal are to maintain and improve individual performance, realize potential, and increase company effectiveness and efficiency.

In this presentation, we go over the most common qualitative research designs. We go over the main components of Chapter 3, including methodology and rationale, the role of the researcher, the selection of participants, instrumentation, procedure, data analysis plan, and issues of trustworthiness.
A slide presentation used when I was guest lecturer during the 4th year of teaching at the University of Adelaide. The topic was on the nature of assessments with comparisons between one public and one private school. Towards the end, there were two case studies presented on how student teachers could prepare their assessments.
In this presentation, we will discuss various methods for assessing data for normality. We discuss the importance of normality for statistical analyses and outline common inferential, descriptive, and visual methods for assessing normality. Finally, we also discuss methods for addressing non-normal data.

A particularly powerful method that may be appropriate for program evaluation is qualitative field research. Qualitative field research allows the researcher to collect descriptive data about experiences directly from individuals in face-to-face settings. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
