The limbic system is a set of brain structures located deep within the cerebral hemispheres that are involved in emotion processing and memory formation. It includes the hippocampus, which is important for learning and memory, the amygdala, which processes emotions and aggression, and the hypothalamus, which regulates basic functions like hunger, thirst and temperature control. The endocrine system is made up of glands that secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream to regulate bodily processes like growth and development, metabolism, stress response, and reproduction. Key glands include the pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, pancreas, ovaries and testes. Genetics also influence these systems and our emotional and physical traits.
