The Scenario Of Sericulture
Scenario of sericulture industry in Maharashtra State, India
Hiware Chandrashekhar Jalba
Abstract
Sericulture is one of the oldest industries in India and Asia. Sericulture is an agro cottage, forest
based industry, labor intensive and commercially attractive economic activity falling under the
cottage and small scale sector. The silk is the final product of this industry. It particularly suits to
rural population working with agriculture, entrepreneurs and artisans as it requires low investment
with potential for relatively higher returns. It provides income and employment to the rural poor
especially, farmers with small land holding and marginalized and weaker sections of the society.

The bivoltine sericulture development has been one of the priority sectors of Indian silk industry
but its production is yet to meet the targets. Women play a dominant role in this sector, as the
activities are mostly home based. Women have been contributing to all the sectors of Sericulture
starting from on farm activities to fabric production, marketing and consumption. The involvement
of women in different activities of Sericulture is well above 53 per cent
Gangopadhyay, 2008 [1].
This paper mainly focused on socio economic development, employment generation, and sericulture
sector activities in the state. Sericulture industry requires low investment and it helps to earn higher
returns in short gestation period, due to this the farmers are getting attracted to this sector and it is
a best tool to improve the rural economy as well as to improve their living standards. It is a boon to
the rural population associated with agriculture and helping them to avoid suicidal attempts by
earning very good amounts throughout the year.

Essay On Is Golf A Sport
Global Perspectives 2015/2016
IS GOLF REGARDED AS A GAME OR A SPORT?
I was a pitcher, and my dad played in college. The hardest day of my life was telling him I was
going to quit to focus more on golf. But with golf, I felt like the game can t be perfected, and that
motivated me.
Jordan Spieth, Current World No.1 (2015)
What is golf?
Golf is a club and ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls in a 9 or 18 hole course
by playing as few strokes as possible.
What makes golf a unique game?
Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated.
Arnold Palmer, former 7 time major champion.
Though from the introduction golf may seem like an easy sport to learn, but there are its difficulties
to it.

In a website by thesportster.com, it tells 10 reasons why golf should NOT be regarded as a sport.
In a debate created by ProCon.org, which calls itself as a nonpartisan research organization devoted
to critical thinking on controversial issues, it asked that question.
For this, they have presented 12 arguments of both sides of the issue. Within the 12 arguments
there was the argument of whether golf is a game or a sport in dictionary definition. Merriam
Webster defines sport as a physical activity engaged in for pleasure: a particular activity (as an
athletic game). But Merriam Webster defines a game as an activity engaged in for diversion or
amusement, which better suits the definition as a game rather than a sport.
To counter that argument, a British Medical Journal s studies show that the golf swing uses at
least 17 muscle groups in the coordinated movement of the hands, wrists, arms, abdomen, and
legs. But the website also states that if golf can be played while drinking and smoking, then it is
not considered a sport. The website shows a picture of an overweight John Daly playing a shot while

Napoleon Bonaparte The Ruthless Conqueror
Napoleon Bonaparte: The Ruthless Conqueror
Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the most successful and controversial military leaders of all time.
Leading France from the years 1799 to 1815, he would establish the French empire, a superpower
that was very similar to that of the Romans. In only sixteen years, Bonaparte came close to
conquering all of Europe, but paid a steep price for his triumph. During his reign, Napoleon
Bonaparte An exhibit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art should portray Napoleon Bonaparte as a
ruthless conqueror, not an enlightened despot, as he enforced legalist like policies, brought on the
Napoleonic wars, and was driven solely by his desire for power. These three factors revealed some

These wars, while trying to establish the French Empire, would significantly weaken France.
During his reign, Bonaparte s main goal was to conquer all of Europe. In order to do so, he
recognized that he needed to defeat France s main threat, Great Britain. In order to weaken them,
Bonaparte created the Continental system. The Continental system was a set of blockades that
was designed to cut the British off from trade with the rest of Europe... (but,) by 1812, it was
clear that the Continental system was not working. (Source E) Underestimating the power of
Great Britain s superior navy, Bonaparte did not realize that the British would able to make their
own blockades around France. Napoleon Bonaparte would blame Russia for his failure, and invade
the vast country. This would be the biggest failure of his career. In an attempt to defeat his new
enemy, Bonaparte would march 600,000 thousand troops into Russia. Even as the weather
conditions worsened, Bonaparte decided to always push further into Russia, trying to conquer
Moscow before winter, (Source E) which he knew would cost him more lives. Eventually losing
about 500,000 of these men, he return to France with the remains of an army. This means that
Bonaparte did not consider what the cost of these wars could be. This is significant, as this is a
decision that no enlightened monarch would make. Instead of actually thinking about the

The Social Responsibility Of Business
In his paper titled The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Its Profits , Milton
Friedman addresses the key issue of weighing social responsibility against profit maximization for
shareholders. This conflict is the basis for Friedman s whole paper, as he explores the two sides of
the situation. In order to set up his argument, Friedman lays down a framework by explicitly stating
a certain premise. This is that businessman view social responsibilityand profit as not being
mutually exclusive. In other words, the majority of businessman believe that they can operate a
socially responsible operation, while still optimizing profits in the long run. Friedman argues in
favor of this viewpoint by making a claim and providing a solid line of reasoning to support his
claim. Friedman s main claim in this paper is that corporate executives must conduct business
with the aim to satisfy the desires and wishes of shareholders. He says that often the principal
desire of shareholders is to maximize profits for the company, while still conforming to the rules
of society. These rules can be purely legal, but can also be ethical and moral rules that are
imposed by society. Friedman argues that any social responsibilities that go beyond the scope of
maximizing profits is pure and unadulterated socialism (239). To reinforce his main claim,
Friedman uses a logical flow of reasons that is predicated upon the role of executives and
shareholders. To emphasize his main claim that

BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0. The BlackBerry PlayBook offers a seven inch high definition

The company introduced its first BlackBerry device in 1999. For e mail obsessed Wall Streeters
and other corporate users, it was a godsend. BlackBerry pioneered push e mail, meaning that
users simply received their messages when they were sent, instead of having to constantly check
for new e mails. BlackBerry s QWERTY keyboard was like an epiphany: no more pecking at a

a whole generation of dual thumb e mail warriors.
As the BlackBerry exploded in popularity, especially among business customers, the company
became Canada s most valuable firm, leading some to dub Waterloo Canada s Silicon Valley. But
while BlackBerry was resting on its laurels atop the corporate mobile market, Apple and Google

The Black And Black British Diaspora
Critically examine the ways through which the Black British diaspora has been imagined and
represented by the theorisations of Paul Gilroy and others. Why does Gilroy (and others) suggest
his notion of The Black Atlantic as useful for re imagining black identities?
Introduction
This essay will analyse the concept of The Black Atlantic by sociologist Paul Gilroy. Written almost
20 years ago, it is an important concept which has been celebrated as instrumental in the re
imagining of black culture. Its framework will be examined by referencing its history and
exploring some of its influences from other theorists such as Stuart Hall. Following this contextual
background, its impact will be discussed on its significance to the black ... Show more content on

Challenging the taboo between the integration of white and black, it theorised a new modernity of
hybridity in culture over the transatlantic space, shaping a new transnational concept. Gilroys
theory aimed to get rid of the sociological imagination of race and instead appreciate the cultural
heritage and influence of people. This spawned new arguments, theories and research, which helped
to combine areas in a new age of interdisciplinary subjects; influencing the study of sociology,
geography, politics, anthropology, art and many other areas. Gilroy specifically shows a very deep
connection to music and creativity, demonstrating how these traits make a profound transformation
in society. For example, the evolution of music represents how the deep rooted pain of black
culture has mixed with the romanticised white culture in a hybrid form to create something new.
This expressed interest focused on a select few avant garde individuals, who connected to this
African transatlantic blackness and these intellectuals inspired his main concepts such as W.E.B.
De Bois theory of double consciousness , which Gilroy has added as a subtext to his book.

How Technology Has Changed Today s Society
Ever wondered how many steps you took after hiking up a mountain? Ever question your heart
rate after a great workout? Have you ever known someone who couldn t hear well until they got
a hearing aid or cochlear implant? Wonder why you are being asked these questions? Well, all of
these questions include something that can be used to count the amount of steps, check your
heart rate, and help people hear better called wearable technology. According to Dictionary.com
wearable technology is a noun that is a small computer or advanced electronic device that is
worn or carried on the body. If you take a look at the world around you, you are bound to count
an endless variety of these types of devices being wore in today s society where technology has
seemed to take over. Wearable technology isn t just used for extracurricular things like number
of steps and how fast a mile was ran. They are also used for work, school and wearable technology
even has very beneficial medical uses. Wearable technologies have gained both a great deal of
approval by many, as well as some doubt of their usefulness and privacy, all of which are
dependent of the device and its user. There are a wide range of wearable technology that is being
used in the workforce today. There is wearable technology used for jobs in military purposes,
space interaction, firefighters and police officers. I recently read a very interesting article by,
Courtney Howard titled, Widespread use of wearable technology. It is

Veneers On Teeth Research Paper
The teenage years are tough, even for the most self confident of children. School grades,
popularity, and appearance are all pressure issues for your teen right now. One area of their life
where a dentist can be of assistance is appearance. Braces can be used to straighten teeth and
whitening systems can be used for yellow teeth. But, what do you use for chipped or uneven teeth?
Porcelain veneers are an option to correct the way your teen s teeth look, but they are not the
solution for everyone. Before your child heads down the road of veneers, it is wise to know
whether these are going to make your adolescent smile again.
Existing Teeth Sensitivity
In order for the veneers to be correctly bonded onto the teeth, a slim layer of enamel needs to be

Some people only grind their teeth when they are asleep. The problem with putting veneers onto
teeth that are being regularly ground is that while porcelain veneers are strong, they are not strong
enough to be put under this type of pressure on a daily basis.
If grinding porcelain veneers occurs regularly, the veneers will chip or crack and you will be back
at stage one of damaged teeth. Before proceeding with the implementation of veneers, discuss
treatment options for bruxism with your dentist first. Mouthguards while sleeping and stress
management therapies while awake are two treatment options open to your teenager.
The good news for your teenager is that even if veneers are not an option at this moment in time,
there are other options open to them to make their teeth look wonderful. Crowns and dental bonds
are other choices that may suit their mouth better. Making an appointment with their dentist to
discuss cosmetic changes is the first step to giving your child back the oral confidence they need to

Gaining High School Driver s License
The state legislature should not pass a bill that would require a person to earn a high school
diploma before he or she could receive a driver s license due to the fact that it is an inconvenience.
Parents would have to drive kids more places and the kids would take longer to grow up.
In high school, kids have a few options of getting to school: having their parents drive them, taking
the bus, or driving themselves. The most easy option is for them to drive themselves to school.
Being a licensed driver is a huge responsibility and is needed to teach young students how to handle
responsibility.
Along with making it easy to get to school, high schoolers that have their license are more
responsible and mature. Not every kid, but some, have to pay for their own gas. It also makes
kids more responsible because they will now have curfews and things that they need to meet on
their own. No more having mom and dad picking them up. If they leave and they re parents say
they need to be back by twelve, they are the ones responsible for getting themselves home at that
time. Having a license makes teens more mature too because they can start doing things for
themselves like getting food or going to a doctor s appointment. ... Show more content on

Quantum Cumputers By the strange laws of quantum mechanics, Folger, a senior editor at
Discover, notes, an electron, proton, or other subatomic particle is in more than one place at a
time, because individual particles behave like waves, these different places are different states that
an atom can exist in simultaneously. Ten years ago, Folger writes, David Deutsch, a physicist at
OxfordUniversity, argued that it may be possible to build an extremely powerful computer based on
this peculiar reality. In 1994, Peter Shor, a mathematician at AT T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey,

In our computers, circuit boards are designed so that a 1 or a 0 is represented by differing
amounts of electricity, the outcome of one possibility has no effect on the other. However, a
problem arises when quantum theories are introduced, the outcomes come from a single piece of
hardware existing in two separate realities and these realties overlap one another affecting both
outcomes at once. These problems can become one of the greatest strengths of the new computer
however, if it is possible to program the outcomes in such a way so that undesirable effects cancel
themselves out while the positive ones reinforce each other. This quantum system must be able to
program the equation into it, verify its computation, and extract the results.
Several possible systems have been looked at by researchers, one of which involves using
electrons, atoms, or ions trapped inside of magnetic fields, intersecting lasers would then be used
to excite the confined particles to the right wavelength and a second time to restore the particles to
their ground state. A sequence of pulses could be used to array the particles into a pattern usable in
our system of equations. Another possibility by Seth Lloyd of MIT proposed using organic
metallic polymers (one dimensional molecules made of repeating atoms). The energy states of a
given atom would be determined by its interaction with neighboring atoms in the chain. Laser pulses

The Obesity Epidemic Of Obesity
The comprehensive assortment of convenient processed foods high in sugar, salt and fat, frequently
marketed in large serving sizes with excessive sides, has ultimately made selecting healthy eating
choices more difficult for the average consumer and policymakers. Various health experts maintain
the onslaught of advertising and promotion surreptitiously and unfavourably influencing ingestion
patterns and food partialities of individuals further complicates the issue. There has been substantial
encouragement, which has pressured governments and politicians to implement restrictions on the
publicising of unhealthy foods, particularly those targeting children. (Jolly, R. 2011) Researchers of
the epidemic of obesity are inclined to emphasise environmental aspects, including the convenience
of high calorie appetising junk foods in conjunction with the influence of television programming,
video games, computers and tablets that discourage exercise. Theoretically, there are two
consequences to regular television viewing, which are a decrease in physical movement and an
increase in consumption of junk food as a result of junk food advertisement exposure. While there
is a continuing dispute regarding how food commercials impact the occurrence of obesity amongst
children and adolescents and, despite lacking evidence of a direct correlation between childhood
obesity and junk food advertising, numerous countries, including Norway, Finland and Sweden,

American exceptionalism can be defined as America emerging high above any other country.
Millions of people travel to America in hopes to achieve the American Dream . The country has
become so well known for its freedom; it has created the term American exceptionalism. However,
many people debate that America does not possess that established freedom. America does not
allow for everyone to exercise their rights freely. Rather, Americans treat others contrarily on
account of their sex, religion, race, and ethnicity. Today, someone may mention Muslims and
immediately a single term comes to mind terrorist. Then again, it is not the only expression that

The Issue Of Copyrighted Music And Its Illegal Consumption...
Though it doesn t receive as much attention in terms of media attention and public discourse as it
earlier in the 2000s, the issue of copyrighted music and its illegal consumption over the internet still
continues to be a major issue. With the advent of the internet, digital music, and mp3 players, one of
the drawbacks for many of those in the music industrywas the subsequent increase in pirated
music that occurred. As illegal torrent sites appeared, such as Napster and Limewire, people
were discovering that they could now download for free what they once paid for. Of course, as a
direct result, music companies and artists both saw a significant decrease in sales in terms of the
physical medium, with CD sales beginning to show sharp declines. In fact, this had a carryover
effects of also closing down many of the mom and pop record stores that existed, since they did
not have the financial means to withstand a restructuring process. Major chain stores were also not
immune to the decline sales, as some once prominent stores, such as the Virgin Megastore and the
Wall, had to close down. Once Apple Inc. released its iPod and created the iTunes Store, the music
industry was finally beginning to adapt itself to the digital realm, as Apple began signing
agreements with most of the major music labels to release their songs on a digital platform as
well. With songs being available individually for just $0.99 cents and whole albums able to be

Financial institutions have always recognized the importance of safeguarding customer data.
However, the impact of data compromise has increased substantially as identities have migrated
from visual to digital. Scenarios like the ones mentioned above have become significant due to
never before seen levels of regulatory fines and litigation expenses.
The New Basel Capital Accord (Basel II) requires financial institutions to develop a comprehensive
loss distribution so that they can more accurately estimate their risk profile and reserve
requirements. In particular, Basel II adds operational risk to the traditional categories of credit risk
and market risk that are currently used to estimate capital requirements.
2Addressing Operational Risk
By including operational risk in the calculation metrics for the New Capital Accord, Basel II has
recognized that credit and market risks are not the only exposures that a bank may face. The
complexity of calculating operational risk is, however, compounded by the fact that the internal
loss history of a financial institution does not adequately account for all the operational risks and
exposures faced by that institution.
To augment internal experiential data, Basel II recommends that financial institutions look to
external events and scenarios. External loss data cannot be readily used in capital calculations due
to the inherent shortcomings of the reliability of

The State of the Discipline History cannot be changed, but as time goes on different discoveries,
interpretations, issues, and concerns for the discipline arise that cause historians to analyze the
state of the discipline. To investigate these concerns, I read articles from Perspectives on History,
particularly the October 2017 issue. During this research, I discovered that some of the ideas,
topics, and debates that are occupying historians right now are: student enrollment, the preservation
of history, and the rewriting of history via alternative facts. One major concern currently for
historians is how to revive history in the classroom. In almost every month so far in 2017, there has
been at least one article concerning low numbers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An important aspect of these monuments are that they are beginning to memorialize all the victims
from the Holocaust, such as the Jews, handicapped, and homosexuals. Another issue concerning
historians is the idea of alternative facts popularized by the United State s current president, Donald
Trump. The author, Robert Blackey, makes his opinion about alternative facts clear: they are
detrimental to history and are not alternative, but false. An important distinction he makes is that
alternative facts are not synonymous with alternative interpretations. Historians (and students of
History 200) learn how to formulate historical narratives. As discussed in the last paper, certain
aspects can deviate and focus on various factors that ultimately shape the narrative. However, there
are always facts and evidence supporting every claim. Alternative facts are a lie, and it believe so as
a historian is to betray history, and this is why it is an important issue plaguing the nation. In order
to prove a point or save face, individuals are undermining history and facts.
The topics that are being presented in this article are present issues that have been influenced by the
past. When individuals decide on a stance on the issue of confederate monuments, it is important
that they investigate the past for the context, and this article specifically encourages individuals to
do so. For background information of why Berlin is currently in

Bilingual Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition
Describe the topic. What is the intended target of the intervention and the goal?
Bilingual Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (BCIRC) is the intervention program
designed to help Spanish speaking English Language Learners(ELL) students successfully read in
Spanish and make a successful transition to English reading. The target of the intervention was the
Spanish dominant ELL students who attended seven elementary schools which had the highest
rates of poverty and the lowest levels of student achievement in El Paso, Texas. The 222 Spanish
speaking ELL students in the second (n = 120) and third (n = 102) grades initially participated in

English language development: The study authors did not find any statistically significant
differences in the mean language development test scores between the BCIRC students and the
comparison group students both in the study findings and the subgroup findings. However, the
WWC reported that the intervention had potentially positive effects on English language
development reading achievement because the study showed the substantively important positive

Essay On Gay Adoption
Homosexuality defined as being sexually attracted to one s own gender has incessantly been a
compelling social issue. A majority of society sees the wrong sexual orientation as evil or
unhuman, regardless of character content. In April 1952, the American Psychiatric Association
even labeled homosexuality as a mental disorder. Today, same sex relationships have been
normalized and live life as ordinary people, yet treated as second class citizens. This treatment by
society has significantly limited the basic human rights of these individuals, including parenthood.
Should LGBTQ+ be able to adopt children? Do gay parents and guardians effect children
negatively? Adoptionis a lengthy process of legally accepting responsibilities of a non biological
child. While adoption is usually governed by laws that vary from state to state, but there are also
federal regulations. These federal laws are set in place to provide clarity on who can and cannot
adopt, parental rights, consent, the best interest of the adoptees, and the confidentiality of the
adoption. Preceding the adoption process, applicants of every state must undergo an extensive
background check, mental health analysis, an examination of the household s members, and the
finances of the applicant. About 51,000 American children are for adoption each year, according to

Barclays and the LIBOR scandal
ADMN 2306 Sec: 825

1) There were many individuals that benefitted from the manipulation of LIBOR. The Barclays
derivatives traders, Money Market Desk, Bob Diamond and senior management and other banks
all had some sort of gain from the LIBOR scandal.Let s start with the people that had the most
monetary gain the Barclays derivative traders. It is said that LIBOR has been manipulated since the
early 90s. Since then, there has been trillions of money made by derivate traders as they influence
LIBOR. The traders communicated with the Money Market Desk, the individuals who submitted

The UK Financial Services Authority (FSA), Bank of England (BoE) and the Commodity Futures
Trading Commission (CFTC) are bodies that were supposedly regulating LIBOR.
As part of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the FSAs sole purpose are to meet their
four objectives: maintain market confidence, enhance financial stability, protect the consumer
and reduce financial crime. By not implementing rules, doing enough investigations and
enforcing power, the FSA has failed to meet all these objectives. Trust was lost in the UK
Financial system when the LIBOR scandal went public, banks revealed themselves to not be as
financially stable as what they portrayed to be, a number of consumers got scalped by the
manipulation and the LIBOR scandal occurred as one of the biggest financial crime that has yet
to send individuals to jail. As a regulator that failed to meet all of its objectives, the FSA had a
responsibility in the LIBOR scandal. Being the UK s central bank, the BoE s mandates were to
provide monetary stability and financial stability. Even if this body does not oversee banks
compliance with regulations, the scandal led to monetary and financial instability, which should
concern the BoE. In fact, Diamond testifies against Paul Tucker, the deputy governor in charge of
financial stability for the BoE. Diamond claims Tucker implied the LIBOR rate is high and should

A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry
Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun is a remarkable play written in 1959 by an African
American author about an African American family. This time period was in the early days of the
modern awakening of civil rights awareness. It was a timely play challenging the then current
stereotypical view of a black familyby depicting a realistic portrayal of a specific black family with
aspirations, hopes, dreams, dignity, and ambition as would be expected from all families regardless
of race. The play is also timeless because it presents relevant themes of preserving family unity
and breaking through racial stereotypes that still challenge current society. Robin Bernstein s
critical analysis Inventing a Fishbowl: White Supremacy and the Critical Reception of Lorraine
Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun , cites a reviewer from the Philadelphia Inquirer who asserts that
this play is both timely and timeless. We do not know if Miss Hansberry has written a timeless
play ... but she has certainly written a timely one. (Bernstein 23), furthermore Bernstein cites
George Murray noted in the Chicago American that the play couldn t be better timed for box office
success. Its advent coincide with a rising wave of general interest in the Negro. (Bernstein 23).
Bernstein also notes Before long, the votes swung overwhelmingly in the direction of dubbing A

Similarities Between Frederick Douglas And Malcom X
For some education is a foregone conclusion, particularly those who are wealthy and have means
to attend an institution of higher learning. Education is not the sole purview of the wealthy, while
having means provides a lower bar for entry, lack of means does not prevent one from
enlightening the self. Such is the case for both Frederick Douglas and Malcom X, two men who
enlightened themselves without access to the wealth that tethers education to those of the upper
class. Hard work and determination can win the day and bestow a freedom that only an advanced
education offers. These two men are shining examples of what can be accomplished when someone

Encounters At The Heart Of The World By Elizabeth Fenn
When the jury and judges awarded Elizabeth Fenn the 2015 Pulitzer Prize in History for her book,
Encounters at the Heart of the World: A History of the Mandan People, their citation described the
book as an engrossing, original narrative showing the Mandans, a Native American tribe in the
Dakotas, as a people with a history.
Strange phrase, a people with a history. Is there a people without a history? Or did the judges
perhaps mean a people with a recorded history ? If we set these questions aside, we encounter a
further conundrum: Under the rules for the Pulitzer Prize in History, the award goes to a
distinguished and appropriately documented book upon the history of the United States. But this is
a book about the Mandan.
Notwithstanding questions about how the Pulitzer judges and juries understood what they were
doing, Fenn s remarkable and remarkably well written book richly deserves the Pulitzer Prize.

Emerson s Divinity School Address
Emerson and the DSA : A Reception Study Analysis
Delivered to the Harvard graduating class in June 1838 by Ralph Waldo Emerson, the Divinity
School Address sparked outrage amongst the church, its leaders and various critics throughout the
nineteenth century. Within critic reviews of the address, Emerson s words were deemed distasteful
and unintelligible and those same critics believed that the writer exposed himself as an atheist and
an infidel. In researching the reception of the Divinity School Address, I encountered not only
widely known and hostile criticism from Andrews Norton, but positive appraisals from writers such
as Orestes Brownson. I discovered that the overall reception was a representation of the controversy
centered on the topic of individualism versus religious collectiveness or community. Such
controversy is illustrated by the polarizing views of the address, despite the writer s intentions to
not dismiss religion, but encourage the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mind of a nineteenth century reader, which led to the confusion in understanding why individual
freedom within religion was considered distasteful. However, in reading the variety of reviews, my
understanding has evolved a great deal; perhaps it wasn t the language in which he spoke that many

History of Depression
History of Depression
Depressive illness has been known since biblical times. The word depression comes from the
Latin word deprimere (to press down). Thus it means feeling pressed down, sad or low. In the late
Middle Ages, religious leaders believed depression was caused by posession of evil spirits. The
German religious reformer Martin Luther wrote All heaviness of the mind and melancholy comes
of the Devil. Through the years depression has been treated with such remedies as whipping,
bloodletting, exorcism and soothing baths. By the 1960s, antidepressant medications were

Assimilation And Its Effects On Adolescents And Family...
In the United States, the Latino community continues to grow at a steady pace and with this
increase in population comes a greater complexity in family relations and a unique set of problems.
Nowadays, Latino Families feature children who were born in the United States but have at least
one foreign born parent, and also foreign born children who immigrated to this country. Whether
they are first immigrants or second generation, Latino youth deals with different levels of
acculturation and the stress that this process brings. Realizing that acculturation plays an important
role in the Latino families, a number of studies have examined the negative effects that
acculturation stress brings to adolescents and familyrelationships, including behavioral problems,
perceived discrimination, ethnic identity, depression symptoms, and substance abuse. Let s start by
understanding the concept of acculturation and the stress associated with it. Acculturation is a
process by which individuals obtain the practices, values, and identity from the receiving culturein
this case the United Statesculture while at the same time conserving those associated with their own
heritage. Naturally, this bi dimensional process represents an added stress for Latino families as
they have to learn to function efficiently under a different physical environment, an unfamiliar
public system, a new language, and probably face a reduced social status, as well.
Under these circumstances, Latino adolescents

Developing A Smart Order Online System
ABSTRACT
There are many Online Retail Stores that have been developed in a commercial setting while I
researched the possibilities of developing a smart order online system. Upon researching these
various systems I did not find a system that allowed the manager/owner to track orders/drivers on
the map using smart devices.
Smart Order Online System is a context aware online retailing system with real time updates. It
is designed in a way to handle the operation of any type of online stores. Also, it s aimed at
helping users to obtain order information through a web interface or via a smart phone device. The
system will allow the customer to place an order, find location and direction to a branch, allows
managers or admin s to track the driver s location and display it on the map.
1. Introduction
This thesis explains in details the technical background, system features, system architecture and
system implementation of the Smart Order Online System (SOOS). The SOOS is designed to
offer users a better way to search, place, track and manage orders.
SOOS provides the user with the ability to place orders, group orders, track drivers and orders on
map, make adjustments and much more in a simple and easy to use environment.
SOOS allows administrators to make changes to product descriptions, product pricing, product
categorizing, and any other details regarding any product that are displayed online. This complete
control over inventory is reflected immediately to the storefront.

Summary Of Gerald Graff s Hidden Intellectualism
Although many people would agree that Intellectuals are those who stand out academically, Gerald
Graff would think otherwise. Hidden Intellectualism is an essay written by Gerald Graff, where he
shares his beliefs about how the educational system is failing to tap those who are doing
academically poor, yet resembles great potential of intellectualism when it comes to their passion or
interest. Along with this beliefs Patch Adamsis a movie based on a real story, where Hunter Adams
(Patch) who admitted himself on a Psychiatric hospital after trying to commit suicide tries to

being hopeless by pills and his counselor. It wasn t until one night he helped his roommate to
conquer his fear, by creating a humor game so he can laugh about his own fears. After that night
he realized that he felt extremely happy helping his roommate that he developed a passion for it,
decides to leave, and go into medical school. However, being in a medical school required a lot of
focused, attention, and memorization, something that Patch didn t do. For Patch being a doctor
required more than just learning and following rules of a book. His belief was to treat patients in a
humanistic way not, comply by the rules of a book.

supported by the movie Patch Adams by questioning whether the educational system is in a

First of all, you have to know what you like as perfumes, because there are seven great olfactory
families: floral, citrus, woody, fern, chypre, amber or oriental and leather. Florals represent 80%

The Aeneid, By Publius Vergilius Maro
The Aeneid is an epic poem originally written in Latin by Publius Vergilius Maro (Virgil). Virgil s
background is rather extraorginary. He was born about 70 B.C in the village of Andes, which is

sure that everything was up to good historical standards. The epic had been written for Augustus,
who was very interested in the progress of the epic!
Virgil explored Greece and Asia while working on the Aeneid and going to the destinations he
mentioned in the book. Virgil turned out to be seriously sick on the way and Brundisium (modern
day Brindisi) he died in 19 B.C.
Before he passed away, Virgil wanted the Aeneid to be destroyed. He didn t want to leave this
world knowing he had not finished it. Yet faith would have it that Augustus would not allow that to
happen. Augustus gave the job of finishing the job to Varius Rufus and Plotius Tucca, whom he

In order to do so, he recognized that he needed to defeat France s main threat, Great Britain. In order to weaken them, Bonaparte created the Continental system. The Continental system was a set of blockades that was designed to cut the British off from trade with the rest of Europe... (but,) by 1812, it was clear that the Continental system was not working. (Source E) Underestimating the power of Great Britain s superior navy, Bonaparte did not realize that the British would able to make their own blockades around France. In an attempt to defeat his new enemy, Bonaparte would march 600,000 thousand troops into Russia. • 5. The Social Responsibility Of Business In his paper titled The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Its Profits , Milton Friedman addresses the key issue of weighing social responsibility against profit maximization for shareholders. This conflict is the basis for Friedman s whole paper, as he explores the two sides of the situation. In order to set up his argument, Friedman lays down a framework by explicitly stating a certain premise. This is that businessman view social responsibilityand profit as not being mutually exclusive. In other words, the majority of businessman believe that they can operate a socially responsible operation, while still optimizing profits in the long run. Friedman argues in favor of this viewpoint by making a claim and providing a solid line of reasoning to support his claim. Friedman s main claim in this paper is that corporate executives must conduct business with the aim to satisfy the desires and wishes of shareholders. He says that often the principal desire of shareholders is to maximize profits for the company, while still conforming to the rules of society. These rules can be purely legal, but can also be ethical and moral rules that are imposed by society. Friedman argues that any social responsibilities that go beyond the scope of maximizing profits is pure and unadulterated socialism (239). To reinforce his main claim, Friedman uses a logical flow of reasons that is predicated upon the role of executives and shareholders. To emphasize his main claim that ... Introduction This essay will analyse the concept of The Black Atlantic by sociologist Paul Gilroy. Written almost 20 years ago, it is an important concept which has been celebrated as instrumental in the re imagining of black culture. Challenging the taboo between the integration of white and black, it theorised a new modernity of hybridity in culture over the transatlantic space, shaping a new transnational concept. Gilroys theory aimed to get rid of the sociological imagination of race and instead appreciate the cultural heritage and influence of people. This spawned new arguments, theories and research, which helped to combine areas in a new age of interdisciplinary subjects; influencing the study of sociology, geography, politics, anthropology, art and many other areas. Gilroy specifically shows a very deep connection to music and creativity, demonstrating how these traits make a profound transformation in society. For example, the evolution of music represents how the deep rooted pain of black culture has mixed with the romanticised white culture in a hybrid form to create something new. This expressed interest focused on a select few avant garde individuals, who connected to this African transatlantic blackness and these intellectuals inspired his main concepts such as W.E.B. In high school, kids have a few options of getting to school: having their parents drive them, taking the bus, or driving themselves. The most easy option is for them to drive themselves to school. Being a licensed driver is a huge responsibility and is needed to teach young students how to handle responsibility. Along with making it easy to get to school, high schoolers that have their license are more responsible and mature. Not every kid, but some, have to pay for their own gas. In our computers, circuit boards are designed so that a 1 or a 0 is represented by differing amounts of electricity, the outcome of one possibility has no effect on the other. However, a problem arises when quantum theories are introduced, the outcomes come from a single piece of hardware existing in two separate realities and these realties overlap one another affecting both outcomes at once. These problems can become one of the greatest strengths of the new computer however, if it is possible to program the outcomes in such a way so that undesirable effects cancel themselves out while the positive ones reinforce each other. This quantum system must be able to program the equation into it, verify its computation, and extract the results. Several possible systems have been looked at by researchers, one of which involves using electrons, atoms, or ions trapped inside of magnetic fields, intersecting lasers would then be used to excite the confined particles to the right wavelength and a second time to restore the particles to their ground state. A sequence of pulses could be used to array the particles into a pattern usable in our system of equations. Another possibility by Seth Lloyd of MIT proposed using organic metallic polymers (one dimensional molecules made of repeating atoms). Though it doesn t receive as much attention in terms of media attention and public discourse as it earlier in the 2000s, the issue of copyrighted music and its illegal consumption over the internet still continues to be a major issue. With the advent of the internet, digital music, and mp3 players, one of the drawbacks for many of those in the music industrywas the subsequent increase in pirated music that occurred. This time period was in the early days of the modern awakening of civil rights awareness. It was a timely play challenging the then current stereotypical view of a black familyby depicting a realistic portrayal of a specific black family with aspirations, hopes, dreams, dignity, and ambition as would be expected from all families regardless of race. The play is also timeless because it presents relevant themes of preserving family unity and breaking through racial stereotypes that still challenge current society. Robin Bernstein s critical analysis Inventing a Fishbowl: White Supremacy and the Critical Reception of Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun , cites a reviewer from the Philadelphia Inquirer who asserts that this play is both timely and timeless. Education is not the sole purview of the wealthy, while having means provides a lower bar for entry, lack of means does not prevent one from enlightening the self. Such is the case for both Frederick Douglas and Malcom X, two men who enlightened themselves without access to the wealth that tethers education to those of the upper class. Encounters At The Heart Of The World By Elizabeth Fenn When the jury and judges awarded Elizabeth Fenn the 2015 Pulitzer Prize in History for her book, Encounters at the Heart of the World: A History of the Mandan People, their citation described the book as an engrossing, original narrative showing the Mandans, a Native American tribe in the Dakotas, as a people with a history. Strange phrase, a people with a history. Is there a people without a history? Or did the judges perhaps mean a people with a recorded history ? If we set these questions aside, we encounter a further conundrum: Under the rules for the Pulitzer Prize in History, the award goes to a distinguished and appropriately documented book upon the history of the United States. Within critic reviews of the address, Emerson s words were deemed distasteful and unintelligible and those same critics believed that the writer exposed himself as an atheist and an infidel. In researching the reception of the Divinity School Address, I encountered not only widely known and hostile criticism from Andrews Norton, but positive appraisals from writers such as Orestes Brownson.
