Antisocial personality disorder is characterized by an inability to differentiate between right and wrong, pathological lying, manipulative behavior, and egocentrism. It is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors such as childhood conduct disorders, abuse, and family dysfunction. Those with this disorder often engage in violent, reckless or criminal behavior that can harm themselves or others. Treatment options include psychotherapy and medication but the disorder itself is difficult to treat.
