The Anjuman Himayat-ul Islam was established in 1884 in response to Christian missionary activity and the decline of Muslim education in Punjab. It aimed to provide religious and general education for Muslims and counter Christian propaganda. It started by opening primary schools and gradually established boarding schools, colleges, and publications to spread Islamic teachings and awareness. The Anjuman became an important platform that hosted speeches and annual meetings attended by Muslim leaders to inspire national awakening. It played a significant role in reviving Islamic education and awareness among Muslims in the region.
