Introduction
• He was born near lucknow in
the village of Rai Bareli in
1786.
• his father was Shah Ilm
Ullah, who was a religious
scholar.
• he was inspired by the
teachings of Shah Abdul
Aziz.
• In 1806 he went to Delhi and
acquired education from
Madrassa Rahimiya.
Major events of his life
• in 1810 he joined the army of Nawab Amir khan of Tonak
and fought against the British.
• during this period Shah Ismail & Syed Abdul Haye joined
him.
• in 1817 he returned to Delhi and studied working of
British artillery.
• in 1821 he went for Hajj and remained in Hejaz for one
and half year.
• Syed Ahmed launched the Jihad Movement against the
British and Sikkhs.
• on 17th January 1826 Syed Ahmed and his fellows moved
to Nowshera.
Jihad Movement
• The brave Yousafzai tribe who were the followers of Pir
Syed Akbar Shah aided Syed Ahmed in the Jihad.
• on 11thjanuary 1827, Syed Ahmed Shaheed
established his Islamic state
• in November 1830 after defeating Yar Muhammad
Khan and Sultan Muhammad Khan took over Peshawar.
• later Sultan Muhammad Khan was appointed the ruler
of Peshawar by Syed Ahmed.
• he betrayed the Muslims and thousands of Muslim
Mujahidin were killed by the Sikkh army near
Peshawar.
• finally the Sikh army under Sher Singh fought Syed
Ahmed near balaKot on 6th May 1831 where he was
martyred.
