1. OTTERS
The scarce data in the Autonomous Community of the Basque
Country show a very limited distribution of the species. In the
study on the situation of the otter carried out in the Spanish
State in 1984 and 1985, in the Cantabrian waters of the
Autonomous Community said species was only mentioned in
the Bidasoa, in Navarre territory, while in the slope
Mediterranean was located in all the basins.
-DISTRIBUTION
2. -Why are otters killed?
Otters do not have many natural predators.
However, they are very affected by the actions of
humans, such as oil spills in the sea, lagoons, etc.
Only in the spill of Valdez, more than a thousand
bodies of otters were found on the coast.
3. -What they eat?
The otters feed basically on fish, but they also
like to eat sea urchins, molluscs, clams,
mussels and crabs. Once they have obtained
their food, it is common to see them preparing
their mouthful while floating on their backs.
4. -Where they live?
Otters are carnivorous animals that can spend their
entire lives in the sea. Otters can go by land, but land
can not be moved easily ... During severe storms are
on the ground. But, in general, they remain in the
water because they are expert swimmers.
