Luis was initially working on counting money. When Luis had difficulty remembering the answer he
stated verbally, he was provided with choice options by Mrs. Oberlander.
After counting money, Luis was provided with a choice to complete a coloring page or to practice
telling time. Luis chose telling time. Mrs. Oberlander explained that after he completed the four
worksheets, he could have a 5 minute break on the computer with the Cool Math icon. Luis worked
diligently on the worksheets and notified the staff when he completed each worksheet. Mrs.
Oberlander checked Luis work in progress and provided positive reinforcement for the work he
completed. While Luis was working, Mrs. Oberlander praised Luis for improving his behavior.
After completing telling time worksheets, Luis transitioned to a sight word activity where he colored
in the shapes with the identified word. Mrs. Oberlander discussed with Luis that if his good behavior
continued through tomorrow, he would be rewarded with an ice cream for Fun Friday. When Luis
asked to use the restroom, Mrs. Oberlander asked him to finish the task first and then he could use the
restroom. Luis came back and began the worksheet. Once again, Mrs. Oberlander reviewed her
expectations with Luis. Luis continued to have prompting and Mrs. Oberlander explained that he only

Managing Pain During The Acute Care Setting
Everyone experiences pain differently, its etiology, source, and type of pain is unique to each patient.
Pain is defined as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon that originates from sensory stimuli,
which has obvious motivation affective properties, demands attention, disrupts thought and behavior
and results in activity aimed to stop the pain (Blanchard, 2010). Managing pain in the acute care
setting has become one of the greatest challenges nurses and healthcare providers face.
Unsatisfactorily managed pain can contribute to several adverse outcomes for hospitalized patients
including reduced mobility, stimulation of unhealthy stress response, infection, creates barriers, and
additional complications. As pain treatment becomes more aggressive, so too does our attention to
reassessment of pain after intervention to ensure both safe and effective pain management (Gordon,
2014).
In 1992, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research provided guidelines for the management of
acute postoperative pain. The goals of the pain management guidelines are to reduce pain,
complications, and length of hospital stay, to educate patients in communicating unrelieved pain; and
to enhance patient satisfaction with pain management practices (Good, 1998). From these guidelines,
Marion Good, PhD, RN, helped develop a middle range theory for Acute Pain Management for adults
who can learn, set goals, and communicate symptoms. The theory does not pertain to individuals such
as elderly,

O Brother Where Art Thou In Homer s The Odyssey
There are many reasons to believe that O Brother, Where Art Thou is a movie based upon the events
that took place during Homer s The Odyssey. The Odyssey is a story about Odysseus and his
adventure home after the Trojan War. O Brother, Where Art Thou was about the journey of Ulysses
and his two partners escaping from prison. Both Odysseus and Ulysses were trying to reach home so
they could see their families again. The blind man on the railroad tracks toward the beginning
represented the blind prophet Teiresias. Both prophets give bad news. Odysseus is told it will take him
many years to reach home. Ulysses is told he will not reach the treasure he seeks. The cousin that
turned Ulysses and his two prison mates Delmar and Pete in for the reward represents the Circe

Religion represents the Lotus Eaters. Pete and Delmar were drawn in from the baptism at the river and
became extremely religious afterward. This is much like the Lotus Eaters drawing in Odysseus men.
Baby Face George Nelson and his obsession with killing cows represents Odysseus men killing Helios
cattle. The women singing on the river and drawing the men toward them are just like the Sirens in the
Odyssey. Big Dan, the man who tells Ulysses and Delmar that he is a pastor is representing the
cyclops. Big Dan is a giant man who wears an eye patch so he really only has one usable eye. Big Dan
is angered just like the cyclops and he goes on a rampage. He kills the toad that is believed to be Pete.
This killing represents the cyclops killing some of Odysseus men. Ulysses, Pete, and Delmar all dress
up as the KKK to escape Big Dan just like Odysseus and his men hide under the sheep to escape the
cyclops. Ulysses and Odysseus also have personal similarities. Ulysses wife tells the children that
Ulysses was hit by a train just like Odysseus was supposedly killed in war. When it comes time

Future Of First Nation Education
Future of First Nation Control of First Nation Education
The Future of First Nation Control of First Nation Education theme was discussed by several keynote
presenters, panelists, and workshop leaders over the course of the Forum. This theme entailed
discussions surrounding community involvement in decision making, First Nation priorities being
observed and met, the inherent right of First Nations to control their education systems, teacher
certification and education program accreditation.
Grand Chief Gordon Peters of the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians and Tyrone McNeil, Vice
President of the Sto:Lo Tribal Council discussed the role of leadership in the future of First Nation
control of First Nation education. It was noted in their address that there will always be political
challenges to overcome, and that First Nations must step up and be actively involved as a united force
to promote grassroots approaches to education and leadership.
Judge David Arnot, Chief Commissioner of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, presented
on the role of Human Rights in the future of First Nation Control of First Nation Education. He
emphasized the recent events of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), the Canadian
Human Rights Tribunal ruling on child welfare, and the importance of ownership of decision making

An Essay on The Withered Arm, by Thomas Hardy
An Essay on The Withered Arm, by Thomas Hardy
The past is a foreign country. They did things differently there.
The Go Between by L.P. Hartley.
Thomas Hardy, a Victorian novelist, based his stories on experience of growing up in rural Dorset.
Growing up there, he became familiar with the language, customs, practises and stories of the country
folk.
These stories draw up on his experiences enabling him to write Wessex
Tales . Among many pieces of work is The Withered Arm . The Withered
Arm is a well crafted short story written in the prose format. The quote above portrays what pre
twentieth century literature should embrace; good literature should be insightable, realistic and

Rhoda s jealousy plays an important role throughout the story. In her desperation and curiosity to see
her antagonist s appearance, she sends her son in search for Gertrude, asking him to report back on her
appearance. I shall want to send to the market, and you ll be pretty sure meet her. ...You can giver her
a look and tell me what she s like, if you do see her.
Hardy uses the supernatural event of Rhoda speculating the ghost to bring a sense of mystery and
tension into the readers mind. At this point we grasp a gruesome, witch image of Gertrude with
features shockingly disorted and wrinkled by the age. His use of words and description brings the
dream to reality; making the reader feel as though they are experiencing it. When Gertrude reveals her
left limb to Rhoda, it forces Rhoda to make believe that she is a witch. Our belief to whether Rhoda
really is a witch is then strongly influenced as Gertrude says, ...my husband says it is as if some witch,
or the devil himself had taken hold of me there... Gertrude s desperation and journey to find a cure for
her diseased arm means she must transact a gruesome deed; to touch with the limb the neck of a man
who s been hanged...before he is cold just after he is cut down. The more educated and upper class did
not share the faith in witchcraft of the lower class. It is a measure of Gertrude s desperation and vanity
that she seeks the help of the

Classification Of Polymers, Cellulose, Starch, And Rubber
 Polymers they are combined form small units of compound having low molecular weight, as a wall
is made up of bricks.  The word polymer is taken from two Greek words poly states many and (mer)
means unit or part.  The term polymer is defined as very large molecules having high molecular
mass. These are also referred to as macromolecules, which are formed by joining of repeating
structural units on a large scale.  The repeating structural units are derived from some simple and
reactive molecules known as monomers and are linked to each other by covalent bonds.  This
process of formation of polymers from respective monomers is called polymerization. (2)Types of
Polymers There are several ways of classification of polymers based on some special considerations.
The following are some of the common classifications of polymers: Under this type of classification,
there are three sub categories.  (2,1,1) Natural polymers these polymers are found in plants and
animals. Examples are proteins, cellulose, starch, and rubber.  (2,1,2) Semi synthetic polymers
Cellulose derivatives as cellulose acetate (rayon) and cellulose nitrate, etc. are the usual examples of
this sub category.  (2,1,3) Synthetic polymers A variety of synthetic polymers as plastic (polythene),
synthetic fibers (nylon 6,6) and synthetic rubbers (Buna S) are examples of manmade polymers
extensively used in daily life as well as in industry. There are three different types based on the

Sports Should Be Banned In Sports Essay
Do you think it is fair that athletes who have taken performance enhancing drugs should be allowed to
compete again after serving a nominal ban? By lifetime ban, I mean an indefinite ban from all
competition; an official order that prevents something from being used or done. I believe that if a
person cheats, they should automatically be given a lifetime ban.
Performance enhancing drugs and recreational drugs are dangerous and banned in all sports. They can
cause serious damage to the body and can be extremely addictive. Even though these drugs are
forbidden, this does not deter athletes from using them. In most countries the penalty for testing
positive for performance enhancing drugs is a two year suspension for the first offence and a lifetime
ban for a second. However, this does vary from country to country. Is this fair on other athletes
competing? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be evidenced through the story of Dwain Chambers, a former sprinter from Great Britain,
who was served with a two year suspension for taking the designer steroid THG. Did he think about
how this affected other athletes? How other athletes were making the effort and he was just cheating?
According to the double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, It doesn t put on in a good light
allowing a cheat, who admitted he s a cheat, to represent us.
It has even been claimed that one in eight competitors are on performance enhancing drugs, if these
cheats were to win it would disgrace the sport itself (never mind the countries the athletes are
representing). This is, by all means, not fair on the other athletes competing and it should not be
allowed. The point of a competition is to test and ensure your capability and make improvements
throughout training. To stop this, a lifetime ban would be the ultimate punishment and would make
athletes uneasy about taking the drugs, which would hopefully bring drug abuse to an

Johnson and Johnson price to operating profits is 19.69. This ratio is quite difficult to interpret because
the utilization of net income could be calculated in different way, modifying the final result of the
ratio. In order to calculate the net income, I used the gross income minus operating expenses minus
depreciation and amortization. All this number are quite ease to manipulate in the statements of the

Determining the Carrying Capacity of Species
All animals interact with their environment and their ability to grow is limited by the resources
available to them. The maximum number of individuals of a species that a certain environment can
support is called that species carrying capacity. Biologists can determine the population of a species
based on the carrying capacity by using models. That can indicate whether certain species are
endangered or abundant in the wild. There are numbers of factors that can determine a species
carrying capacity and models can be used to show the population growth of that species. Competition
is a limiting factor that can determine a species carrying capacity. When population increase,
individuals start competing for food, shelter, and the most suitable mates. While the stronger
individuals tend to survive, the weaker individuals begin to die off because of insufficient resources
for everyone in the community. Competition can lower birthrates and increase death rates. When two
different species live in the same area, they compete for resources in that environment and typically
one species is eliminated by the other. The population will reach its carrying capacity when
competition reduces the size of the population to what the environment can support. Predation and
herbivory are another limiting factor that can determine a species carrying capacity. Predation is when
a population feeds on another population for sustenance. In predator prey relationships, the predator
can decrease

The Importance Of Social Work For Refugees And Asylum Seekers
Social Workers have a duty, professionally and morally to support refugee children and asylum
seekers.
Social workers have a professional and moral duty to ensure that services are provided to those who
most need it. The duty that Social workers have toward Refugees and asylum seekers, particularly
children is strong but not often met. People s wellbeing is a key ideal within social work and is
strongly represented within the Care Act 2014, the earlier Children s Act 2004 is also clear on the
protection of children s rights in the UK. In the essay there will be a discussion on how in some areas
the statute is not strong enough to allow Social Workers to work properly, but also how there needs to
be changes regarding social work focus on refugees.
Recently, United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) has campaigns to help reform the UK s current
law on family. The law only recognises parents or spouses and civil partners as family. A child refugee
may have an older sibling, or more extended family such as an uncle but they would not be allowed
into the country under the Family Reunion rules. The dangers for children trying to reach family in the
UK are high and it leaves them at risk of exploitation, 78% of adolescents face some form of
exploitation whilst travelling the Central Mediterranean route to Europe, UNICEF (2017). Social
Workers have a duty here to protest the UK s laws, and the decision of the Government not to join the
EU s relocation scheme for Refugees. They did

Haitian revolution Essay
In 1791 revolution broke out in the French colony of Saint Domingue, later called Haiti. The Haitian
Revolution resounded in communities surrounding the Atlantic Ocean. One of the wealthiest European
outposts in the New World, the Caribbean island s western third had some of the largest and most
brutal slave plantations. Slave laborers cultivated sugar, coffee, indigo, and cotton, and they endured
horrible death rates, requiring constant infusions of slaves from Africa. In 1789 roughly 465,000 black
slaves lived in the French colony on the island, along with fewer than 31,000 whites. In addition, there

The war became more complicated in 1793 when the British invaded Saint Domingue. The Spanish,
who had a colony on the eastern two thirds of Hispaniola, also entered the fray by supporting armies
of escaped slaves, including a force under the command of an ex slave named Toussaint Louverture.
Pressed on all sides, commissioners from republican France, led by Leger Felicte Sonthonax in the
northern part of the colony, began to extend freedom and citizenship to every slave in summer and
autumn 1793. Inspired by this application of the rights of man, the French National Convention
abolished slavery in all French possessions on February 4, 1794. This action transformed the conflict.
Louverture abandoned the Spanish and began to fight for the French and the freedom of his people.
Over the next couple of years, Louverture consolidated power on the island and created rigid rules that
compelled ex slaves to work on plantations so as to make the island productive again. In 1795,
because of events in Europe, the Spanish signed a peace treaty that ceded their colony on the island to
the French. In 1798 Louverture negotiated a treaty with the British, convincing them to leave the
island and promising not to support any slave rebellions in British colonies. He also sought to develop
commercial relations with the United States, even as the Quasi War (1798 1800) broke out with
France, by sending Joseph Bunel to Philadelphia. Bunel was so successful that he dined

When George W Bush came to the presidential office of America at the beginning of the year 2000,
there was already a lot of controversy that surrounded him. He was appointed Governor of Texas in
1995 and as of 7:30pm, December 7, 2000, 152 people have been executed during Bush s office as

So we now have an accusation that cannot be backed up, yet Bush still decides to launch an attack on
Afghanistan. The attack is widely regarded as a failure though Bush will not admit it. In Afghanistan
the US army used a policy of blanket bombing , which was basically: bomb everything in sight, and
you re bound to hit something. This something was 1 nursing home, 2 Red Cross hospitals, 1 school
and hundreds of homes. They did manage, with the help of the anti Taliban group in Afghanistan, the
Northern Alliance, to find some arms caches and eliminate some Taliban members. Once people
realized that the operation in Afghanistan was a failure, Bush tried to regain his popularity by
announcing yet another controversial move; plans to attack Iraq. During the 1990 s Saddam Hussein,
the leader of Iraq invaded Kuwait, the worlds biggest oil producer, and the US and UN stepped in to
defend it. This was known as the gulf war and was a big success for the US, although they did not
manage to get rid of Hussein. Many people now believe that Bush is now trying to pick up where his
predecessor, Bill Clinton, left off and rid the world of Saddam Hussein and his oppression forever.
This is all fine and well, but they are completely unprovoked and have absolutely no reason to attack:
Iraq has kept themselves to themselves since the end of the gulf war. An assault on Iraq would, as the

Healthy Eating Unhealthy Ogden
HEALTHY EATING
INTRODUCTION
Ogden (2017) has defined health behavior as any behavior that has a positive or negative impact on
that individual s health status. For example, healthy eating, physical activity, safe sex, and wearing
seat belts are behaviors that would positively impact a person s health, while the opposite behaviors,
unhealthy eating, sedentary lifestyle, unsafe sex and desisting from wearing seat belts, can negatively
impact the health of an individual. This written assignment will discuss healthy eating habits that my
family has vigilantly engaged in for the last several years and the beliefs that have motivated us to
adapt this behavior. Before we got engaged in this behavior, we had no idea that an individual s health
outcome is largely determined by what they eat and how they eat it. Constantly seeking information
about diet and healthy eating in general, we gradually changed our behavior concerning our eating
habits. We strongly believed that we could take control of our health status by deliberately choosing
what to and what not to eat.
DISCUSSION
French and British Psychological Society (2010) have stated that health behavior may be categorized
into two: risk increasing behaviors and health promoting behaviors. To live a healthy lifestyle, we
resolved to avoid the former and adapt the latter, and the behavior that we felt was crucial to pay
attention to was healthy eating. French British Psychological Society have emphasized that the

Genetically Engineered Crops
Chemical and seed companies have been working the last several years to alter the genetic make up of
certain crops to combat heavy pressure from insects and weeds. Through genetic manipulation plant
breeders have been able to make certain crops resistant to different types of chemicals and insects.
Breeders can alter the crops by adding to a specific plant one or more genes from other related crops
with a known resistance to an insect or herbicide The use of genetically engineered crops has become
a hotly debated topic over the last couple of years. Environmentalists are concerned with how these

Roundup works by inhibiting enzymes essential to plant growth. By increasing the enzymes produced
in plants, the plant is unaffected by the herbicide (Monsanto Crossroads). With the insertion of the
Roundup resistant and Bt genes, the negative environmental impacts from agriculture can be reduced.
One way environmental damage can be reduced is by decreasing pesticide use. According to
Monsanto, Bollgard cotton, a variety resistant to bollworms, was used in 13% of the total cotton crop
in 1996. Sixty percent of those growers used no insecticide, most others only used one application.
This is compared to an average of 4 to 6 applications. The reduced applications saved a quarter million
gallons of insecticide. Monsanto has also developed potatoes with resistance to the Colorado potato
beetle. Farmers using this new variety reported eliminating 1 5 insecticide applications. The total
reduction in applications of insecticides was between 33% 42% over conventional methods (Biotech
Benefits).
By inserting the Bt gene into the plant cell, only the insects that are damaging the crop are killed.
Conversely, when the Bt gene is used in a pesticide spray many more insects that may have been
beneficial to the crop are killed (ESA Position Statement). By having insect resistance built in, farmers
can eliminate costly trips across the field needed to spray insecticides. Much like Bt corn,

the boys of the Sudanese refugee camps. It is hard to tell just how many boys took the long journey,
survived, and are now prospering in other places because they are not talking about it. I think another
factor of the spiral of silence principle is that people do not want to speak about it because of the fear
of the public opinion. I think people are reluctant to talk about things that may have happened in the
past due to the fear of being judged or people simply not caring. I think if more people were informed
about the help that can be provided to the lost Sudanese boys that more of them would come forward
and more people would be willing to hear their story and reach

Essay about Anti-Depressants and Teen Suicide
Abstract Two percent of preteens and five percent of adolescents suffer from depression (www.about
teen depression.com 2014). There are specific signs and symptoms associated with depression, which
are helpful in detection of the illness. There are various ways to treat depression, such as medication,
group therapy, and/or herbal supplements. There are pros and cons with each treatment, but the worst
coincides with the medication suicide. Much research has been conducted, which will be discussed in
the paper that has shown a link to antidepressants and suicide. However, there is also evidence that the
suicide rate could be decreased with proper diagnosis and early, supervised treatment for depression,

There are still several options for treatment that you must choose from, as well as having to deal with
side effects that accompany each treatment. Of all the treatments, antidepressants tend to have the
most side effects. Some of the side effects common to all three types of antidepressants are: anxiety,
vomiting, confusion, chest pain, blurred vision, irritability, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, weight gain,
headache, and nervousness (Cheung et al. 2003, Vanderkooy et al. 2002). Some other, more severe,
side effects are difficulty urinating, decreased appetite, heart complications, and suicide (Simon and
Stern 2003 Review). It is the last side effect, suicide, which has recently caused some controversy
within the medical field. With recent research showing a correlation between antidepressants and
suicide, as well as the FDA ordering warning labels for suicide on antidepressant medication,
physicians have to be careful prescribing the drugs, especially to children and adolescents.
Statistics show suicide to be the third leading cause of death among 13 19 year olds, with
approximately 6000 suicide deaths each year (Dickinson 1999). Because of statistics like this, the
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) researchers are vying to find interventions to help prevent
suicide among children and adolescents. However, until then, the best prevention appears to lie in
early diagnosis

The Myth Of Winter Research Paper
The Warmth of Winter
Imagine walking outside to a cool winter breeze, the snowflakes melting on your face the second they
touch you, that feeling of bouncing in clouds every time you take a step in the snow, the bright red
nose that is almost shining as bright as Rudolph s, or the teary eyes you get the second you step
outside as if you had just seen your dog who you haven t seen since you were five. All of the seasons
have their qualities that make them unique. Winter, however, is unquestionably my favorite season of

Selecting The Female Reproductive System Essay
Selecting the female reproductive system to present was slightly awkward with me being a male. In
addition to having to have a presentation in a public forum having to provide visual aids of the female
reproductive system to my fellow classmates. I didn t look forward to that at all. With that being said,
I moved forward with my research on the pathologies of the female reproductive system. I did not take
long at all to recognize some familiar terminology related to the pathological anomalies of the female
reproductive system that I was familiar with. Pathological terminology such as Fibroids (tissue
overgrowth) and Endometriosis (pain in the uterine lining). I had a few people close to me who have
suffered from complications of those pathological disorders which led to the loss of pregnancy. At
different moments in our life at one time or another will have someone close to us experiencing some
issues of the female reproductive system. Having the knowledge of the causes, symptoms,
complications and treatments will enable us to not only understand what they are going through but
with that knowledge we can comfort them as well. Having a working knowledge of the female
reproductive system is beneficial in many areas. In addition to helping those close to us, as a radiology
technologist we can better assist or patients.
The female reproductive system consists of ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and breast.

Negligence, Liability, And Liability
QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law known
as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to be
properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what
circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area.
SHORT ANSWER
In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and liability
refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can only be at risk
if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following elements are met and
proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not met, damages have
occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed to the damages that
occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable and having to pay for
damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use to deflect or lessen
liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary assumption of risk.
PRINCIPLES/TOOLS
Negligence
Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of care.
Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the standard
of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the

The History of Mathematics Essay
What is the meaning of history? According to Merriam Webster s online dictionary, history is: past
events that relate to a particular subject, place, organization, etc (Merriam Webster, 2014). Math began
in 30000BC and is still changing now in 2014. During each year, something new has happened. From
30000BC to 127BC there were many things happening for the beginning of math. In 30000BC,
Palaeolithics in Europe and France recorded numbers on bones. Around 25000BC, there were signs of
early geometric designs being used. Egypt was using a decimal number system around 5000BC.

Puerto Rico. But make no mistake about it Puerto Rico is a colony. A colony that has never

A Study of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act
FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE SURVILLANCE ACT This act was created in 1978. It proposes
methods for gaining judicial permission in order to carry out physical and technological search for a
person, who might be a terrorist threat for USA, on behalf of a foreign power. In 1970, a man named
Christopher H. Pyle discovered that the US army intelligence had hired 1500 officers whose job was
to spy on protest or public demonstration that involved more than 20 people. This shocking news
immediately captured the attention of Senator Sam Ervin, who was the chairman of a sub committee
of senate related to constitutional rights. Though Sam Ervin strongly condemned this act of US
intelligence but he had very little authority to take a step against it. It was due to brave men like
Christopher H. Pyle and Senator Sam Ervin that people came to know that how the government was
ignoring and violating the provisions to the constitution. This violation of rules and laws by the
government led towards the formulation of foreign intelligence surveillance act. The primary feature
of this act was as follows; the creation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court ( FISA Court )
which allows the executive branch to secretly obtain warrants for electronic surveillance but only with
strict judicial review Previously there were seven members of foreign intelligence surveillance act
court but now the number has been extended to eleven. All of these members are appointed by the

data encompasses a wide range of tremendous data generated from various sources such as mobile

varieties of data. Big data categorized mainly in 3Vs as follows.
a. Data volume
b. Data variety
c. Data velocity
Data Volume: This defines the available size of data that has been growing every day with multiple

Ideal Education For Future Students
Ideal Education for Future Students
Education is a form of knowledge that have been passed down and revise to the point of perfection.
All of us have to get our knowledge from someone whether it is our grandparents, parents, siblings, or
teachers. Through applying and processing the knowledge that is given, you could improve on the idea
even further, therefore every generation will get the best from the last. Wisdom is only as useful as to
how much you can exercise it into real life application, for that reason teaching isn t easy as
communicating the information, but instead have the concept in practice. Learning isn t about
memorization, but rather of how it came to be. For example in a calculus class you could have a
teacher teach six trig equations two ways, first just tell the student to memorize it, or second you can
show them how one equation can be rewritten five other ways and that s how the all six of them came
to be. Banking education claim to be effective for memorizing things quickly, which is true, but then
you will most likely to forget it later on. I like to think education is something worthwhile and
essential knowledge to have, which sucks if you going to forget about it later on and the time you
spent memorizing will just go to waste. Liberated education allows you to practice what you ve learn
just like how you would do it on a job, by doing so you will retain the materials effectively. I think a
lot of us have heard of this question in class before,

Today, the fashion industry is pumping out thousands of fur coats for prospective buyers. The attempt
of masking the true price of retrieving that fur by glamorizing coats is beyond most buyer s attention.
Some people know that animals go through pain when their fur is taken for the purpose of fashion, but
most people do not understand the extent of the mutilation they go through. To be sure the fur is fresh
and neat, certain animals are sometimes skinned alive. Fur farming is not only inhumane, but it also
has a negative effect on nature. Fur farming is bad for the environment, brutal to animals and the
animals are also inhumanely killed. According to psychological theory, the humanistic view claims
that every person has good in them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To catch the animals, the farmers use a device called a leg hold trap. A study in Wheeler Nation
Wildlife Refuge discovered that 26% of animals would actually attempt to bite of their limbs in order
to escape one of these traps in the hopes of survival ( Ranch Fur Cruelties ). The fact that animals are
willing to chew of their body parts in order to escape means that the leg hold trap must be painful
towards the animals, which means it is an inhumane way of capturing an animal. Fur farming has been
around for many years, but not always for the poor purpose of fashion. Although there are countless
disadvantages with fur farming, many individuals are blinded by the glamour of the fur fashion
industry to see that. One of the most crucial issues is how badly fur farming effects the environment
which is almost always a victim of a human s doing.
Effecting the environment has been a common issue that seems to keep resurfacing all over the world.
While raw animal fur pelts may be biodegradable, the fur industry conveniently neglects to mention
the fact that all of the animal skins used to make fur go through a tanning process ( Nothing Humane
about Fur Farms ). Tanning is a process that uses environmentally damaging toxins such as
formaldehydes and strong acids. These chemicals are a danger to the atmosphere, helping destroy the
environment which is already being damaged by other human made things such as carbon dioxide
from cars or grime from nuclear plants. The

Short Summary Of Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist is the story of a young orphan, Oliver, and his attempts to stay good in a society that
refuses to help. Oliver is born in a workhouse, to a mother not known to anyone in the town. She dies
right after giving birth to him, and he is sent to the parochial orphanage, where he and the other
orphans are treated terribly and fed very little. When he turns nine, he is sent to the workhouse, where
again he and the others are treated badly and practically starved. The other boys, unable to stand their
hunger any longer, decide to draw straws to choose who will have to go up and ask for more food.
Oliver loses. On the appointed day, after finishing his first serving of gruel, he goes up and asks for
more. Mr. Bumble, the beadle, and the board are outraged, and decide they must get rid of Oliver,
apprenticing him to the parochial undertaker, Mr. Sowerberry. It is not great there either, and after an
attack on his mother s memory, Oliver runs away. Oliver walks towards London. When he is close, he
is so weak he can barely continue, and he meets another boy named Jack Dawkins, or the artful
Dodger. The Dodger tells Oliver he can come with him to a place where a gentleman will give him a
place to sleep and food, for no rent. Oliver follows, and the Dodger takes him to an apartment in
London where he meets Fagin, the aforementioned gentleman, and Oliver is offered a place to stay.

William Shakespeare s The Taming Of The Shrew
William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew is a controversial comedy that has more than 1
interpretation. The 2 prominent interpretations is that it a misogynistic play or that it is a love story
about a man liberating a woman. This play has been adapted into any movies the 2 that were studied
were The Taming of the Shrew , produced in 1967 and 10 Things I Hate About You , made in 1999.
Upon viewing these 2 movies I found that The Taming of the Shrew had a great deal of misogyny
throughout the plot. However, I found 10 Things I Hate About You was portrayed as a love story and
because of this I thought I was, until I thought about the fact that someone was paid to take her out

He then uses the technique for training birds of prey, to train her to obey him. Finally at Bianca s
wedding Kate gives a speech about being a good wife and obey their husbands. I found this movie
misogynistic, Katerina was wild and shrewish, however that is no valid reason to physiologically
abuse her. I took this as Shakespeare has created a character that tests society s boundaries and
challenges the people s beliefs, but she is then forced to marry and she is tamed . In a way
Shakespeare is sending a message that if a woman challenges society they will end up the same as all
of the other woman, obedient and a business deal. This may be ok in the Elizabethan era but in today s
society this is unacceptable it s basically domestic violence. For this reason I believe Petruchio s
behavior is horrible. He abused her for a game. In the end when Katerina gives a speech to the crowd
shows that she has succumb to the falconry .
10 Things I Hate About You is a modernised adaptation explores a teenage shrew life and the
modernised world of dating and trying to fit in . Kat, the independent 18 year old with an attitude,
refuses to follow the crowd . Bianca, her younger sister, however, is popular and wants to date. Their

The purpose of Goal setting is to operationally define the specific desired outcomes and describe the
factors involved in achieving the outcome (Julia Bowman and Lise. L. Mogensen, 2010, p.100). Goals
can be split up into two different types. A Short term goal is the pathway leading up to the long term
goal (Julia Bowman and Lise. L. Mogensen, 2010, p.100). Long term goals have been described as the
destination of therapy (Julia Bowman and Lise. L. Mogensen, 2010, p.100). For therapists the long
term goal is how far the client wants to improve; if it is being fully independent, being able to do the
cleaning, the long term goal would be set to get them to that place. However, if the client is not
reaching their goals, this is when grading comes to place. Grading is the modification of an activity to
support the client s performance (Bridgett,2011, OT A Z: G is for Grading). Grading is all about
adjusting the goal to make it easier or harder for the client. If the client was about to do their goal very
quickly you would change their goal to make it harder for them; thus they can work towards a new
goal. The occupation performance model looks at what makes the person be able to do or not do the
task. With this the therapist will write down what is preventing the client from reaching their

John Augustine s Confessing And Recounting Moments
Saint Augustine, also known as Augustine of Hippo, was born on 354 AD in a North African county in
present day Algeria. Throughout of his life, Augustine has endured a lot of hard ships and lessons that
he wanted to share with others. He decided in 397 AD to compose an autobiographical book
confessing and recounting moments in his life. Confessions by Saint Augustine are a 13 book series
comprised of Augustine s life and how he became to be one of the most important priests during his
time.
During Book I, Augustine recalls his childhood and how it was like growing up and turning into a
young man. He begins his book in an opening prayer, praising his lord and raises the question how can
we see God if we do not know who he is. He mentions how anything that exists and creation contains
God because he created the Earth. This answers to the question answers how Augustine found God in
a sense that, he saw others around him and believed that God was present in everything he has done.
An example given in his book is how the comforts of human milk were waiting for him, but God gave

his eyes people with blonde hair and blue eyes and fair skin. There were many, many years of hatred
that went toward the Jews and the Holocaust finally broke out. When Ernst vom Rath died, the Nazis
decided to use this as an excuse to make actual State run attacks on the Jews. Immediately, 90 Jewish
people were killed and then 500 Jewish synagogues were burned. Almost every Jewish shop had
windows that were smashed thoroughly. Massive arrests also occurred against Jews... 25,000 Jewish
men were actually forced to go into concentration camps. The St. Louis was a ship that had over 930
Jewish people crowded onto it and it was turned away from very many countries including the United

The Cultural Impacts Of The Reformation On Scotland And...
Scotland, like many other countries throughout the western world, was changed in 1517 when Martin
Luther published his 95 theses. Through his publication, Luther exposed the sins of the Roman
Catholic Church and denounced its credibility. John Knox, a Scottish Reformer, spread the teachings
of Protestantism throughout Scotland. He exposed the truth behind the wealth and riches of the
Catholic Church and helped move the country towards the establishment of the Church of Scotland.
The church in the 16th century, was at the center of the daily lives of the Scottish people. A reform to
the church, meant a reform to the culture of Scotland. One cultural impact on Scotland as a result of

church held a powerful position over the lives of the people in Scotland, having influence in their

the Scottish reformation, held power and influence over the education system.
Before the reformation, there were three types of schools; lecture schools, song schools and grammar
schools. In the grammar schools, which were attached to the cathedrals, boys learned Latin. As the
Bible at this time was only in Latin, this gave the young boys an

by the title, is focuses on ideas of the religion of Christianity, and it also critiques on humans and their

The Gutre family is notably illiterate and are hardly known to speak, and it is easy to believe that their
characters don t take to learning anything that isn t necessary for living out in the country (103). When
the flood comes they are required to enter the main home with Espinosa, by taking in an area out near
the shed (102). By bringing the characters together through the close quarters it is necessary for them
to interact, and this interaction is increased when Espinosa begins to read to them (103). When
Espinoza reads from the Bible, that he coincidently found somewhere in the house, the Gutre family is
mesmerized and begin to worship him (103,104). The Gutre s desperate to get out of the situation,

guide, they tore down the toolshed by their lodging and built up the cross that they believed would
save them from their desperate situation (105). The characters of The Gospel. . . react as realistically

  • 3. Managing Pain During The Acute Care Setting Everyone experiences pain differently, its etiology, source, and type of pain is unique to each patient. Pain is defined as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon that originates from sensory stimuli, which has obvious motivation affective properties, demands attention, disrupts thought and behavior and results in activity aimed to stop the pain (Blanchard, 2010). Managing pain in the acute care setting has become one of the greatest challenges nurses and healthcare providers face. Unsatisfactorily managed pain can contribute to several adverse outcomes for hospitalized patients including reduced mobility, stimulation of unhealthy stress response, infection, creates barriers, and additional complications. As pain treatment becomes more aggressive, so too does our attention to reassessment of pain after intervention to ensure both safe and effective pain management (Gordon, 2014). In 1992, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research provided guidelines for the management of acute postoperative pain. The goals of the pain management guidelines are to reduce pain, complications, and length of hospital stay, to educate patients in communicating unrelieved pain; and to enhance patient satisfaction with pain management practices (Good, 1998). From these guidelines, Marion Good, PhD, RN, helped develop a middle range theory for Acute Pain Management for adults who can learn, set goals, and communicate symptoms. The theory does not pertain to individuals such as elderly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. O Brother Where Art Thou In Homer s The Odyssey There are many reasons to believe that O Brother, Where Art Thou is a movie based upon the events that took place during Homer s The Odyssey. The Odyssey is a story about Odysseus and his adventure home after the Trojan War. O Brother, Where Art Thou was about the journey of Ulysses and his two partners escaping from prison. Both Odysseus and Ulysses were trying to reach home so they could see their families again. The blind man on the railroad tracks toward the beginning represented the blind prophet Teiresias. Both prophets give bad news. Odysseus is told it will take him many years to reach home. Ulysses is told he will not reach the treasure he seeks. Big Dan is a giant man who wears an eye patch so he really only has one usable eye. Big Dan is angered just like the cyclops and he goes on a rampage. He kills the toad that is believed to be Pete. This killing represents the cyclops killing some of Odysseus men. Ulysses, Pete, and Delmar all dress up as the KKK to escape Big Dan just like Odysseus and his men hide under the sheep to escape the cyclops. Ulysses and Odysseus also have personal similarities. Thomas Hardy, a Victorian novelist, based his stories on experience of growing up in rural Dorset. Growing up there, he became familiar with the language, customs, practises and stories of the country folk. These stories draw up on his experiences enabling him to write Wessex Tales . Among many pieces of work is The Withered Arm . The Withered Arm is a well crafted short story written in the prose format. Hardy uses the supernatural event of Rhoda speculating the ghost to bring a sense of mystery and tension into the readers mind. At this point we grasp a gruesome, witch image of Gertrude with features shockingly disorted and wrinkled by the age. His use of words and description brings the dream to reality; making the reader feel as though they are experiencing it. Our belief to whether Rhoda really is a witch is then strongly influenced as Gertrude says, ...my husband says it is as if some witch, or the devil himself had taken hold of me there... Classification Of Polymers, Cellulose, Starch, And Rubber  Polymers they are combined form small units of compound having low molecular weight, as a wall is made up of bricks.  The word polymer is taken from two Greek words poly states many and (mer) means unit or part.  The term polymer is defined as very large molecules having high molecular mass. These are also referred to as macromolecules, which are formed by joining of repeating structural units on a large scale.  The repeating structural units are derived from some simple and reactive molecules known as monomers and are linked to each other by covalent bonds.  This process of formation of polymers from respective monomers is called polymerization. (2)Types of Polymers There are several ways of classification of polymers based on some special considerations. The following are some of the common classifications of polymers: Under this type of classification, there are three sub categories.  (2,1,1) Natural polymers these polymers are found in plants and animals. • 8. Sports Should Be Banned In Sports Essay Do you think it is fair that athletes who have taken performance enhancing drugs should be allowed to compete again after serving a nominal ban? By lifetime ban, I mean an indefinite ban from all competition; an official order that prevents something from being used or done. I believe that if a person cheats, they should automatically be given a lifetime ban. Performance enhancing drugs and recreational drugs are dangerous and banned in all sports. They can cause serious damage to the body and can be extremely addictive. Even though these drugs are forbidden, this does not deter athletes from using them. In most countries the penalty for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs is a two year suspension for the first offence and a lifetime ban for a second. However, this does vary from country to country. Is this fair on other athletes competing? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could be evidenced through the story of Dwain Chambers, a former sprinter from Great Britain, who was served with a two year suspension for taking the designer steroid THG. Did he think about how this affected other athletes? How other athletes were making the effort and he was just cheating? According to the double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, It doesn t put on in a good light allowing a cheat, who admitted he s a cheat, to represent us. It has even been claimed that one in eight competitors are on performance enhancing drugs, if these cheats were to win it would disgrace the sport itself (never mind the countries the athletes are representing). This is, by all means, not fair on the other athletes competing and it should not be allowed. The point of a competition is to test and ensure your capability and make improvements throughout training. To stop this, a lifetime ban would be the ultimate punishment and would make athletes uneasy about taking the drugs, which would hopefully bring drug abuse to an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Determining the Carrying Capacity of Species All animals interact with their environment and their ability to grow is limited by the resources available to them. The maximum number of individuals of a species that a certain environment can support is called that species carrying capacity. Biologists can determine the population of a species based on the carrying capacity by using models. That can indicate whether certain species are endangered or abundant in the wild. There are numbers of factors that can determine a species carrying capacity and models can be used to show the population growth of that species. Competition is a limiting factor that can determine a species carrying capacity. When population increase, individuals start competing for food, shelter, and the most suitable mates. While the stronger individuals tend to survive, the weaker individuals begin to die off because of insufficient resources for everyone in the community. Competition can lower birthrates and increase death rates. When two different species live in the same area, they compete for resources in that environment and typically one species is eliminated by the other. The population will reach its carrying capacity when competition reduces the size of the population to what the environment can support. Predation and herbivory are another limiting factor that can determine a species carrying capacity. Predation is when a population feeds on another population for sustenance. In predator prey relationships, the predator can decrease ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social workers have a professional and moral duty to ensure that services are provided to those who most need it. The duty that Social workers have toward Refugees and asylum seekers, particularly children is strong but not often met. People s wellbeing is a key ideal within social work and is strongly represented within the Care Act 2014, the earlier Children s Act 2004 is also clear on the protection of children s rights in the UK. In the essay there will be a discussion on how in some areas the statute is not strong enough to allow Social Workers to work properly, but also how there needs to be changes regarding social work focus on refugees. Recently, United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) has campaigns to help reform the UK s current law on family. The law only recognises parents or spouses and civil partners as family. A child refugee may have an older sibling, or more extended family such as an uncle but they would not be allowed into the country under the Family Reunion rules. The dangers for children trying to reach family in the UK are high and it leaves them at risk of exploitation, 78% of adolescents face some form of exploitation whilst travelling the Central Mediterranean route to Europe, UNICEF (2017). One of the wealthiest European outposts in the New World, the Caribbean island s western third had some of the largest and most brutal slave plantations. Slave laborers cultivated sugar, coffee, indigo, and cotton, and they endured horrible death rates, requiring constant infusions of slaves from Africa. The war became more complicated in 1793 when the British invaded Saint Domingue. The Spanish, who had a colony on the eastern two thirds of Hispaniola, also entered the fray by supporting armies of escaped slaves, including a force under the command of an ex slave named Toussaint Louverture. Pressed on all sides, commissioners from republican France, led by Leger Felicte Sonthonax in the northern part of the colony, began to extend freedom and citizenship to every slave in summer and autumn 1793. Inspired by this application of the rights of man, the French National Convention abolished slavery in all French possessions on February 4, 1794. This action transformed the conflict. Louverture abandoned the Spanish and began to fight for the French and the freedom of his people. Over the next couple of years, Louverture consolidated power on the island and created rigid rules that compelled ex slaves to work on plantations so as to make the island productive again. In 1795, because of events in Europe, the Spanish signed a peace treaty that ceded their colony on the island to the French. In 1798 Louverture negotiated a treaty with the British, convincing them to leave the island and promising not to support any slave rebellions in British colonies. This something was 1 nursing home, 2 Red Cross hospitals, 1 school and hundreds of homes. They did manage, with the help of the anti Taliban group in Afghanistan, the Northern Alliance, to find some arms caches and eliminate some Taliban members. Once people realized that the operation in Afghanistan was a failure, Bush tried to regain his popularity by announcing yet another controversial move; plans to attack Iraq. During the 1990 s Saddam Hussein, the leader of Iraq invaded Kuwait, the worlds biggest oil producer, and the US and UN stepped in to defend it. This was known as the gulf war and was a big success for the US, although they did not manage to get rid of Hussein. Many people now believe that Bush is now trying to pick up where his predecessor, Bill Clinton, left off and rid the world of Saddam Hussein and his oppression forever. Before we got engaged in this behavior, we had no idea that an individual s health outcome is largely determined by what they eat and how they eat it. Constantly seeking information about diet and healthy eating in general, we gradually changed our behavior concerning our eating habits. We strongly believed that we could take control of our health status by deliberately choosing what to and what not to eat. DISCUSSION French and British Psychological Society (2010) have stated that health behavior may be categorized into two: risk increasing behaviors and health promoting behaviors. To live a healthy lifestyle, we resolved to avoid the former and adapt the latter, and the behavior that we felt was crucial to pay attention to was healthy eating. Genetically Engineered Crops Essays Genetically Engineered Crops Chemical and seed companies have been working the last several years to alter the genetic make up of certain crops to combat heavy pressure from insects and weeds. Through genetic manipulation plant breeders have been able to make certain crops resistant to different types of chemicals and insects. Breeders can alter the crops by adding to a specific plant one or more genes from other related crops with a known resistance to an insect or herbicide The use of genetically engineered crops has become a hotly debated topic over the last couple of years. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roundup works by inhibiting enzymes essential to plant growth. By increasing the enzymes produced in plants, the plant is unaffected by the herbicide (Monsanto Crossroads). With the insertion of the Roundup resistant and Bt genes, the negative environmental impacts from agriculture can be reduced. One way environmental damage can be reduced is by decreasing pesticide use. According to Monsanto, Bollgard cotton, a variety resistant to bollworms, was used in 13% of the total cotton crop in 1996. Sixty percent of those growers used no insecticide, most others only used one application. This is compared to an average of 4 to 6 applications. The reduced applications saved a quarter million gallons of insecticide. Monsanto has also developed potatoes with resistance to the Colorado potato beetle. Farmers using this new variety reported eliminating 1 5 insecticide applications. The total reduction in applications of insecticides was between 33% 42% over conventional methods (Biotech Benefits). By inserting the Bt gene into the plant cell, only the insects that are damaging the crop are killed. Conversely, when the Bt gene is used in a pesticide spray many more insects that may have been beneficial to the crop are killed (ESA Position Statement). By having insect resistance built in, farmers can eliminate costly trips across the field needed to spray insecticides. Much like Bt corn, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think another factor of the spiral of silence principle is that people do not want to speak about it because of the fear of the public opinion. • 25. Negligence, Liability, And Liability QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law known as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to be properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area. SHORT ANSWER In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and liability refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can only be at risk if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following elements are met and proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not met, damages have occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed to the damages that occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable and having to pay for damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use to deflect or lessen liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary assumption of risk. PRINCIPLES/TOOLS Negligence Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of care. Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the standard of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the ... Wisdom is only as useful as to how much you can exercise it into real life application, for that reason teaching isn t easy as communicating the information, but instead have the concept in practice. In a way Shakespeare is sending a message that if a woman challenges society they will end up the same as all of the other woman, obedient and a business deal. This may be ok in the Elizabethan era but in today s society this is unacceptable it s basically domestic violence. For this reason I believe Petruchio s behavior is horrible. He abused her for a game. In the end when Katerina gives a speech to the crowd shows that she has succumb to the falconry . 10 Things I Hate About You is a modernised adaptation explores a teenage shrew life and the modernised world of dating and trying to fit in . Kat, the independent 18 year old with an attitude, refuses to follow the crowd . Bianca, her younger sister, however, is popular and wants to date. Their father is an obstetrician and he is afraid that is they date they will get pregnant and their life will be ruined. As Kat is against dating, their dad decides ... The purpose of Goal setting is to operationally define the specific desired outcomes and describe the factors involved in achieving the outcome (Julia Bowman and Lise. L. Mogensen, 2010, p.100). Goals can be split up into two different types. A Short term goal is the pathway leading up to the long term goal (Julia Bowman and Lise. L. Mogensen, 2010, p.100). Long term goals have been described as the destination of therapy (Julia Bowman and Lise. L. Mogensen, 2010, p.100). For therapists the long term goal is how far the client wants to improve; if it is being fully independent, being able to do the cleaning, the long term goal would be set to get them to that place. However, if the client is not reaching their goals, this is when grading comes to place. Grading is the modification of an activity to support the client s performance (Bridgett,2011, OT A Z: G is for Grading). Grading is all about adjusting the goal to make it easier or harder for the client. If the client was about to do their goal very quickly you would change their goal to make it harder for them; thus they can work towards a new goal. The occupation performance model looks at what makes the person be able to do or not do the task. With this the therapist will write down what is preventing the client from reaching their ...
