The Power Of Power In Machiavelli s The Prince
The Medici was a very powerful family who started off as just a small family bank, but by using
smart, cunning and risk taking tactics, they gained and kept control over Florence for the majority of
the period of 1434 1737. Machiavelli was a political leader and author, living in Florence at the same
time as The Medici, but wasn t very fond of them. For that, The Medici had him arrested and tortured,
but despite that he went on and wrote a book called The Prince. The Prince is a short how to book with
the intentions of it being something useful for anyone who understands it . The book describes
Machiavelli s opinion on what he believes it takes to be an extraordinary prince, and how to gain and
keep full control of the people; by using his personal experiences, observations and past historical
events to prove his points. Although Machiavelli didn t like the Medici, the advice given in The Prince
illustrates the actions of the Medici family, proving them to be powerful and extraordinary leaders. In
The Prince, Machiavelli states that having the right skills and tactics will help you gain power. He
writes that there are two ways to gain power; one becomes prince through some wicked and nefarious
means , or when a private citizen becomes prince of his native city through the favor of his fellow
citizens . Agathocles the Sicilian gained power and became prince through wicked and nefarious
means , he rose through the ranks and one day held a meeting with all the

The Ethical Issues Of Employee
In organization, many employees may have to work as a team to get their jobs done. The workplace
will be used as a place where employees can provide a work for employer. When many people who
came from different backgrounds, values, goals, and perceptions of acceptable behaviors have to work
together under the same roof, it ll be quite difficult for the organization to avoid the ethical issues. The
ethical issues that I have experienced in my previous workplace are: Ethical issues of employee: Some
of workmate did not come to the office on time. Some of them even cheated the starting time by
asking other people to log in the system in behave of them. During working hours, some employee
may still hang around or chitchat or even enjoy his food. Ethical issue of employer: Did not pay for
overtime to employees. Some employee had incomplete job. She came to work for another 6 hours on
the rest day after six consecutive normal work days. Pregnant woman will not accept to apply for a
job. Foreign workers had a fight because their working opinion was quite different. 2. Discuss how the
ethical issues or dilemmas were resolved. Provide examples to support your answer (10 marks).
Company resolved employees ethical issues by creating progressive disciplining, applying ethical
theory to company s core values and providing yearly ethical training: Progressive disciplining: For
employees who often come to work late or cannot provide a reasonable reason to their managers. The

Julian Bilecki Thesis
The Holocaust was the murder and persecution of six million Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Catholics,
and other groups by the Nazi regime. Holocaust is a word of Greek origin meaning sacrifice by fire.
The Nazis rose to power in Germany in January 1933. The Nazis thought that they were racially
superior and that the Jews and everyone else they exterminated were inferior to them. Many novels
written about the Holocaust like The Book Thief by Markus Zusak portrayed some of the heroes of the
Holocaust. The Hubermann family saved Max Vandenburg, a Jew who went to them for help.

One morning when the children were out for a walk, a policeman came to the center to arrest three of

If either of those were not up to standards, then the whole business model would collapse and prove to
be unsuccessful. Some professors would chose based on which publisher they favorites the most or
had been loyal to in the previous years. Other professors wanted cheaper books so that their students
would not be required to pay more and have a higher chance of actually purchasing the material.
Another trend Lindsol analyzed was that most professors were unhappy with their book selection after
purchasing the book and using it for courses because the material was either outdated or not relevant
anymore with the school s curriculum. In order to enter the market successfully, Lindsol realized that
it would be very difficult due to the fact that original editorial business model had been successful for
forty years but had failed to stay current with today s technology. Crafting the Strategy Lindsol had to
identify problems in the industry and realized that there were several core reasons students did not like
the shift publishers made from hard copy to electronic PDF files. The main reasons collected by
college student surveys was that the devices used to read the books were cumbersome to use, they
lacked tools like highlighting, and they preferred having a physical hard copy of the books for them to
take notes. Several advantages for realizing these core

Imants Tillers
Art Critical Analysis
Mount Analogue is a post modern artwork by Imants Tillers painted in 1985.
This work can be said to be a post modern piece as Tiller has utilised several techniques common to
this style. Bricolage is the creation of a work from a diverse range of things that happen to be
available. In this case, Tiller, out of necessity, created his canvas board system.
This particular artwork is an appropriation of the rather majestic painting North East view from the
northern top of Mount Kosciusko by Eugene von Guerard, produced in 1863. Tillers has re
contextualised the work and given it added value for the present time. Mt Analogue explores ideas of
authorship and originality through his use of appropriation. He has ... Show more content on

Tillers has a distinctive artistic style that is easily recognisable. He has a strategy of appropriating
images from reproductions of artworks and other sources, and re working them. Each board is like a
grain of sand on a beach, or stone on a mountainside all go to make up the whole.
In painting his work, Tillers dramatically enlarged the scale of von Guérard s colonial image, creating
a new work in its place. It is of a monumental scale when compared to the original. The new sizing
meant that the image was at once more present to the viewer, giving the impression that one can enter
the landscape, but also more abstract, due to the grid left by the canvas boards. Tillers painterly
surface jar with the parts of the boards that don t quite match, forcing the viewer to see this as
appropriation, the illusion of space, the changes in perspectives.
Tillers copies the form and line of the original piece, following an organic, natural shape and line. The
shapes are irregular, yet the canvas board system distorts the overall image to give a muted geometric
feel. They boards give strong angles and create a sense that a grid has been laid over the environment.
The organic shapes create forms that are three dimensional, giving depth to the mountain landscape.
A sense of balance is achieved between the stormy sky and the rugged mountain tops. The texture of
the sky also contrasts with the texture of the landscape. The eye is directed by the caped figure s wide

Self Deprivation In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Self Deprivation Women all over the world must follow society s expectations. In fact, in Saudi
Arabia, women could not drive until late September of this year! Similarly, in Sylvia Plath s The Bell
Jar, societal pressures push, the protagonist, Esther Greenwood to act in a particular way. Esther grows
up in a small town and goes to New York for an internship for journalism. Through this opportunity
she learns that she must act like an ideal woman of the time. Yet, she enjoys things that are out of the
normality. This causes her to lose who she is and who she wants to become. In The Bell Jar, Plath
reveals that strict women s standards may cause a loss of self. In the novel, women are upheld to a
typical standard of how to act in public. For example, in the past and even in the twenty first century
all over the world; women must dress a certain way. Using imagery Sylvia Plath describes how
women have to look and act in society. Women ...had to wear hats and stockings and gloves to class
(Plath 4). The author continues to say that the ladies who were out of school got jobs as secretaries.
These secretaries are wandering around New York looking to marry to a man with money. The author
illustrates how women have to dress and act a specific way which Esther did not conform with. She
wanted to be a successful writer with or without a husband. The strict standards women obliged to
leads to Esther losing her true identity.
Society pressures women to act in a specific way.

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation
Patrick Raymond F. Atilano tiz000028c THE PINK CARAVAN 2015
The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation marks its 20th anniversary with its retro styled Pink
Caravan this year. The Pink Caravan has been part of the breast cancer awareness campaign that has
been launched by the NZBCF since the start of its various programmes for women s health promotion
in New Zealand. The Pink Caravan will be visiting 32 towns of New Zealand as part of its itinerary
with a mission to provide breast health information to the men and women who need access to free
medical breast check up, breast cancer monitoring, inquiries, and to be able to sign a petition for an
extended government support for free mammogram screening to older patients.
This paper aims to evaluate the Pink Caravan breast cancer awareness campaign programme of
NZBCF for 2015. The Pink Caravan is an on the road campaign programme to provinces, with no
easy access to breast health services in New Zealand, to be able to invite women and even men to get
into the Pink Caravan and avail of its free medical consultation and inquiries information without the
need for an appointment. The 32 targeted towns included the areas along the Far North to Southland of
New Zealand. The caravan travels from town to town to provide access to the women, as well as the
men, who need health care particularly on breast cancer awareness and medication. Breast cancer

Essay On Why College Football Should Be Banned
College Football should be banned for lots of reasons. Why this sport should be banned is that college
football is a distraction on the athlete s studies and takes away their critical knowledge about the real
world, but also school work and what is important in life. Another reason why college football should
be banned is players could get injured severely. For examples, concussions, broken spin, injuries that
keeps them for not doing anything in life. College football also makes school more expensive than it
should be.
College football should be banned because it is not good for student athletes to play a sport all year
long. When an athlete does a sport that is all year and that the commitment must be there all the time it
will distract athletes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coaches will take millions of dollars for student athletes to live anywhere they want to and give out
full scholarships. College football, and basketball players get a lot of amount of money its around
hundred thousand dollars for housing, living off or on campus, and supplies for school (Blackistone
2014). It s not fair for college football players that don t do has much school work a normal student
would do daily. College athletes and regular students should have the same rules same accountability
the school demands (Blackistone 2014). Another big part why college football should be banned is
that programs take money from college students that pay for class pay for meals pay everything they
do on campus just as student fees and funds and Student athletes get everything for free not have to
pull out their own wallets (Bissinger 2012). When college football coaches take millions of dollars
they are also making the school more and more expensive for the students that must pay to attended to
that university or college there are at (bissinger 2012). Students that go to school just go for education
don t have any athletic ability to play college football and get that opportunity to have to that. Every
student that attended at a college should have the same rights rules that apply to

Reform Movement Dbq
During the 1820s 1850s, lots of change and chaos was going on in the very young United States.
Along with this chaos, many people wanted different things to change in the country, which caused
many reform movements to occur. From slavery to healthier prisons, these movements helped shape
the US before the Civil War. American reform movements sought for the expansion of democratic
ideas, however, some reform movements were radical at the time and did not do as successful as
others. The most well known reform movement was the anti slavery campaign. This movement
occurred mostly in North. The Northerners viewed the South s practice of slavery to be morally wrong
and should be banned from the United States. In Document C, the engraving says, ... Show more

Liquor became a very popular substance in this time period and people began to see that drunkenness
from over drinking was tearing families apart. According to Document H, there was 9 steps of
drinking called, The Drunkard s Progress . What the artist is trying to portray is that drinking is bad if
it gets out of hand. One or two drinks is good but once a person reaches 3 to 4 it is hard to stop
continuing. Drinking in moderation was not the problem, it was an overdose of alcohol and
recklessness of the individual that caused the problem. People began to question why drunkenness was
becoming such a problem. In the opinion of Charles Finney, a well known 2nd Great Awakening
Evangelical, he believed that religion was not having a big enough influence in society. He believed
that if church became a presence in society then, Harlots, drunkards, and infidels, and all sorts of
abandoned characters, [would be] converted and awakened (Document B). Others believed the stress
of the times caused this liquor outbreak or believed that the creation of more drinking holes caused
more publicity for drinking. Either way, the United States went through a period heavy drinking with

Triple Alliance And Triple Entente During World War I
In the beginning of the 20th century, many changes where to take place that would ultimately
determine the alliances commonly known as the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente during World War
I. In 1904, the Russo Japanese War began. This war ended with a defeat for Russia, which was
humiliating, but did encourage the Russian Empire to focus on the Balkans, an area that would play
more dominate roles in World War I ( 10 Events that Led to War One 1). Their newfound interest in
this area forced them to reassert themselves later, during the Bosnia Annexation Crisis (Trueman 1).
Over the years, Germany began to grow as an empire and an extremely militaristic power (Tonge 1).

Ancient Calendars
Accepted systems for the division of time into days, months, and years, calendars reflect a human
effort to measure and order extended periods of the future. Scholars divide calendars into three general
categories lunar, solar, and lunisolar depending upon whether their temporal divisions are principally
based upon the movements of the moon or the sun or on a compromise between both. Regarding
Western forms of chronology, in which solar reckoning of time predominates, historians have studied
calendar reform, which encapsulates many scientific advancements and cosmological debates of the
Renaissance and Enlightenment. In their studies of other parts of the world, where ... Show more

Building upon the work of the astronomer Christoph Clavius, whose calculations had produced a
closer approximation of the tropical year, the Gregorian Reform removed centurial leap years, except
for those divisible by 400. While the reform was rapidly accepted throughout Catholic Europe,
Protestant countries were resistant. Over time, new scientific discoveries concerning the mechanics of
the universe were brought to light, causing astronomers, regardless of religious persuasion, to
acknowledge the errors of the old system. Notably, as the work of Sir Isaac Newton in the seventeenth
century effectively annihilated the last remnants of the ancient and flawed Ptolemaic cosmological
model and presented a new vision of the universe, resistance began to erode. Eventually the German
states fell into line by 1699, in large part due to the lobbying efforts of Newton s contemporary,
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Still, the change was not accepted until 1752 in England, where, tradition

How Is Othello Racist
Moor or Less Racist Rough Draft
The tragedy of Othello, written by William Shakespeare, involves a romantic union of white and
black, which is gruesomely torn apart by outsiders within the community through manipulation,
bringing the couple to their fatal end. The esteemed Othello is a black man with a high rank in the
army living in the city of Venice among fair skinned native Venetians. Within the play, racism
definitely plays a huge role in the public s views and stereotypes of Othello. The reader must consider
these other characters motivations for their words, however. The reader must also consider the drastic
difference between the ways that we understand race today, versus how our ancestors saw race back in
the sixteenth century, when the story takes place. During this time, people were believed to be
controlled by their humors, or body fluids, and they are greatly affected by their geographical
positions and changes. Some scholars have argued that Othello is a racist, disgusting play, which

The Interventions Of A Offender Manager s Risk By...
This essay will critically reflect on the interventions used in the community to manage offender s risk
by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of communication, between Offender Managers and
external agencies. An evaluation will be made of how Offender Managers are able to use feedback
from community interventions, to effectively manage an individuals risk throughout supervision
sessions and explore different strategies used in order build a relationship and manage compliance
throughout an order. This essay will highlight diversity issues raised and how future practice can be
improved from reflecting on current work. I will be referring to two case studies drawn from my own
practice as a Probation Service Officer (PSO), Mr N and Mr C, and demonstrate how theoretical
literature and research has informed decision making in managing risk and planned interventions.
An Offender Manager s (OM) role identified by Goldhill Skinner, 2013, is to build a rapport,
understand an offender s pathway to offending, undertake a risk assessment that addresses the risk of
reoffending, the risk of harm that they pose, and to devise a plan for supporting them out of offending.
In order to manage the risk in both cases, I have used the risk assessment tools Offender Assessment

offenders which I will be referring to pose a medium risk of reoffending. OASys was introduced in the

Persuasive Speech About Drinking Alcohol
Procedure
 Intro (2 minutes) o How many of you have seen an advertisement and felt like you needed that
product because it looked fun or cool? o Has an advertisement ever been so persuasive that you
believed you would appear to be cool or fun if you used that product? o Sometimes, these expectations
influence the decisions that we make in life.
 Beginning (20 minutes) o Students will be told that they will be learning about Alcohol and the
dangers of consumption it has on the body and brain. Alcohol is a substance that is legal for adults to
drink. However, many people have certain beliefs about what it will do for us. o For example, many
people drink alcohol because they believe it will make them feel a certain way or appear a certain way
to others. They may think they will look cool/ mature/ funny to others, if they drink alcohol. o Does
drinking alcohol really make someone cooler/ funnier or more mature? (No) o Where else do you
think people might get thee false expectations from, besides advertisements? (TV, movies, video
games, music videos, etc.) o If teenagers thought alcohol promoted positive effects, do you think they
would be more likely to drink it? (Yes) o If people see alcohol being used in a positive way in the
media or through advertisements, they might ignore the consequences that it comes with such as
making decisions they might regret, getting sick, getting addicted, etc. o Do you feel as if a person
would plan to humiliate themselves at a party? (No) o Many advertisements for alcohol make people
think it is a good idea to consume it, that is it beneficial for them. The purpose of this is for industries
to make money, not necessarily tell the truth. They connect products with positive desirable images. o
The media portrays messages that are designed to make people think that drinking alcohol is okay/ fun
and that everyone else does it. What they don t tell you, is that alcohol is in fact a drug that has
harmful effects on our body and brain. o Students will now complete four questions independently. o
Students will learn that one 12oz beer has the same amount of alcohol as a 5oz glass of wine. The type
of alcoholic beverage isn t what effects the body, but the amount of alcohol consumed.

A Brief Note On Economic And Financial Stressors
D. Economic and Financial Stressors
One of the many reasons why people work is to make money. As the cost of living increases, people
need to keep up with their earning. Since it is not always possible to keep earning more through
promotion, people decide to get second or third jobs in their free time to make extra money to support
their life and family. Even though making extra money is beneficial to everyone, people give up on
their free time, take more responsibility, and spend more energy. As a result, their stress level increases
exponentially. In order to earn more money in the short term, people end up getting more stressed
because it is accumulated in the long term (Matteson Ivanceivch, 1987, 40).
E. Situational Constraints
Situational constraints occur when an employee`s environment inhibits him/her from performing
properly. Important support personnel are usually fired first in case of budget cuts. Even though their
job may seem unimportant at first, they are crucial to the workplace. For instance, there could be
many information available for a person to finish his/her job; however, having a technical difficulty
and not having anyone to fix this issue would cause time loss. Another example is inadequate training.
If an employee does not receive a proper training, he/she will automatically be constrained because of
lack of knowledge or skills. Furthermore, the poorly trained employee will seek out for help all the
time and other people will get involved in the

is different from the next. Although it may seem that each piece of music within the Classical genre is
the same, they are just as different as the composers are to one another. Wolfgang Mozart is a very
well known composer. He was not only popular in the time period in which he lived, but he continues
to be one of the better known composers in today s society. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on
January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. He was the only surviving son of Leopold and Maria Pertl
Mozart. Wolfgang s father, Leopold, was a successful composer, violinist, and assistant concert master
at the Salzburg court (Bio.com). His mother, Maria, was born into a middle class family of local
community leaders (Bio.com). Both Wolfgang and his sister, Maria Anna (nicknamed Nannerl ) were
introduced to music at a young age. Because Leopold started teaching Nannerl to play the piano at the
age of seven, Wolfgang developed a strong understanding of chords, tonality, and tempo, and was
soon receiving lessons from his father, also. Because Wolfgang composed his first piece at five years
old on the piano, excelled at playing the clarinet and violin (Biography of Mozart). In 1762, Wolfgang
s family began traveling to courts in Munich, Paris, London, The Hague, and Zurich to perform. Both

Montana History Essay
The history of Montana Here is some of Montana history from indians to gold rush and a lot of other
things. The first indian tribe is the Assiniboine tribes. The Assiniboine have many similarities to the
Lakota Sioux in culture and language. They are considered to have separated from the central
subgroup of the Sioux nation. Scholars believe that the Assiniboine broke away from Yanktonai
Dakota in the 16th century.
The Assiniboine were close allies and trading partners of the Cree, engaging in wars together against

Importance Of System Of Internal Control
1. What is a system of internal control and what objectives is it designed to fulfil? In your view, how
relevant is an organization s culture and value system in achieving the objectives of a system of
internal controls? The system of internal control is an essential process for both public and private
sectors. It is a system which must be implemented to ensure due diligence is exercised during the
transactions of the corporate business within all applicable laws and regulations. Policies and
procedure must be developed and implemented to prevent fraud, abuse, misappropriation of funds and
to protect the company s assets. Without such parameters, it would be difficult to accurately track the
expenditures and revenues and for accountability of the business and its employees. The County has a
code of conduct in place that each employee must read and sign upon commencement of employment.
There are also policies as it relates to use of equipment, credit cards, cash handling procedures,
accepting gifts and donations for both Staff and Council. It is important to ensure the budget document
is reviewed and up to date regularly. All Departments complete month end reports, within 3 days of
the completion of said month. Further, through variance reporting and fiscal forecast updating our
Department is able to monitor regularly the status of our respective budgets. Each Department reports
to the Finance Department and in turn a report is provided to Council for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarters and
over the course of the 4th quarter, sometimes monthly reports are provided. There have been fiscal
years where Departments have been advised that expenditures are limited to necessities only such as
cell phones, office supplies, wages where a significant deficit is being projected. This has alleviated
some financial pressures from other divisions and provided a net zero budget or close to it for the
difficult year. In an attempt to prevent unwise or unapproved expenditures, during budget preparation,
each Department must provide line by line descriptions of each account. If the item is not listed, it
cannot be purchased. For example, if cameras were not specifically listed in the equipment line, then a

The Pros And Cons Of Child Soldiers

soldiers this is what they are suffering through everyday. Although many children had the choice to
become a child soldiers, most of them were forced to become child soldiers. By their families, and
their commanders. Child soldiers were brainwashed to torture, and kill. They did not know any other
way to live. They thought what they were doing was the right thing. Many child soldiers were

One Of The Most Complicated Aspects Of Human Life Happens
One of the most complicated aspects of human life happens to be religion. However, it I viewed as a

supernatural convictions that have been passed on from devotees to proselytes, that are held by
disciples to be effectively important and genuine either in view of first, formally reported regulation or
what is referred to as composed religion or even built up social practices that is people

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance
Surveillance
One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but
what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was a
French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original
physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One
example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about 1600
as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society. Foucault
believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many contemporary
surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules of proper conduct
and behavior are internalized by members of society.
Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance.
Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to a
mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus, criminals
become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather than killing
them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of surveille.
Surveillance is not only used to monitor those that committed a crime, but those that might not.
Therefore, preventing crime in the first place and reducing

Farmer, Political Boss, and Immigrant
Various people from the late nineteenth century held diverse opinions on political issues of the day.
The source of this diversity was often due to varying backgrounds these people experienced. Three
distinct groups of people are the farming class, the political bosses, and the immigrants, who poured
into the country like an unstoppable flood. These groups of people also represented the social
stratification of the new society, which had just emerged from rapid industrialization. These three
groups had large differences in many aspects such as power, amount of money, and influence in
political events of the day. The political boss dominated local city governments and pretended to be

The prices of staple goods dropped dramatically from the1860s to the 1890s. The farmers were losing
large amounts of money that they desperately needed. The tariff on manufactured goods vexed the
farmers because even though their own profits were decreasing, the prices of important manufactured
goods were not due to absence of foreign competition. The farmers were further bothered by the
domestic marketing system which allowed numerous middlemen to take large shares of the profit of
agriculture. There was a shortage of credit, which made it difficult to finance the construction of
necessary improvements. The farmers were plagued by numerous natural disasters including
tornadoes, floods, and droughts. These conditions, which could destroy property and crops, also
provided a difficult environment to grow crops. If the crops could not be grown, the farmer had no
means of supporting him and his family. After a boom in the mid 1880s, the population of western
farm states increased enormously. This large influx of people contributed to the destruction of open
range cattle raising. A prolonged drought following these boom years devastated the farmers and many
soon returned East with no money and low morale. Thus, farmers were dissatisfied with government
policy and politicians began to discuss resolutions to their problems. Many farmers began to

Illegal Immigration And Immigrants
Should illegal immigrants be allowed to become U.S. citizens? Should they be deported and not be
allowed to pursue a better way of life in America? Immigrants did want, in fact, to become Americans
in every sense of the word, not just in terms of the ability to achieve a measure of economic
prosperity. Immigrants and refugees are entrepreneurs, job creators, taxpayers, and consumers.
According to Center for American Progress They add trillions of dollars to the U.S. gross domestic
product, or GDP, and their economic importance will only increase in the coming decades as America
s largest generation. The goal of this research paper is to construct a strong case that illegal
immigration/deportation should be dealt in a different manner, show how America benefits from this
and is best addressed in terms of multiculturalism, poverty/inequality, and cultural relativism.
From its earliest days, America has been a nation of immigrants, starting with its original inhabitants,
who crossed the land bridge connecting Asia and North America thousands of years ago. By the
1500s, the first Europeans, led by the Spanish and French, had begun establishing settlements in what
would become the United States. In 1607, the English founded their first permanent settlement in
present day America at Jamestown in the Virginia Colony. Some of America s first settlers came in

Learning Languages Essay
Effects of learning Languages
Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning
another way to think about things. A bilingual person is more than one person. Whenever we are
learning a new language, it means that we have started a new life with a different vision. If we learn a
language, we understand much about culture or life of a country. If we know one language we are one
person, if we know two languages, we are two people. As an instance; if there is a job vacancy that
requires two people knowing two languages and you know two languages, then you are qualified for
that job. Learning a new language seems like we are starting a new journey toward our future life. I

In most cases, a deceased victim experienced a violent attack that may have resulted in open wounds
and exposed flesh. Once a person blood supply stops and their respiratory system shuts down,
decomposition begins immediately (What Are The Four Stages of Human Decomposition, 2017). As a
result, bodily fluids and gasses are released from the body into the air and emanates a distinctive smell
which attract insects. When insects are present at the scene of the crime, investigators rely on forensic
entomologists to observe various type of insects for the estimate time of death. The type of insects that
are located on the dead body and the surrounding area depends on the geographical location such as
urban and rural areas, and environmental temperatures. One of the most common type of insects that a
forensic entomologist will notice is a blowfly. A blowfly can withstand any type of environmental
temperatures in all geographical areas. Blowflies are attracted to fresh dead corpses and can indicate
that the victim s death just occurred. However, the presence of maggots feeding on the flesh of the
body can inform entomologist that the blowfly laid eggs and the body has been there for some time.
Maggots are important because they must complete a life cycle to transform into blowfly. The blow
fly life cycle has six parts, and each cycle various in time of completion. To figure out what time the
death occurred, entomologists would examine a maggot that is more developed than the others. On the
other hand, if there are empty pupal cases collected from the body, entomologists can determine that a
fly has completed an entire life cycle and the body was there for one hundred and forty three hours

Lewis Carroll s Wonderland
Unbeknown to many, Alice in Wonderland borrows a lot from the reality of its author. As a matter of
fact, Alice in Wonderland has as much to do with its author as it has to do with creativity. Lewis
Carroll s beliefs are written all over the story as one navigates through the alternate reality he presents
in the novel. Before exploring the evidence of Lewis Carroll s spiritual beliefs in Alice, it is important
to understand what actually constitutes Lewis Carroll s beliefs. Notably, other than being an author,
Lewis was an Anglican clergyman, a mathematician and a talented formal logician. Other than
studying at Christ Church Oxford, he went ahead to lecture at the same institution (Auerbach, 1973).
Indeed, this brief history presents an individual whose life is deeply founded in religion.
Conventionally, religion is founded on three fundamental principles, that is, the existence of an
alternate reality, belief in supernatural force, and of course, the conquest of good over evil. These form
the foundations of religion and are indeed, the very tenets upon which Alice in Wonderland is
founded. As a matter of fact, in his book The Gospel in Disney, Longfellow (1993) asserts that
Christian lessons are learned from Alice in Wonderland.
In Alice in Wonderland, Lewis presents and entirely alternate reality. Alice finds herself in a world
other than the one in which she lives. At the very start of the story, Alice finds herself in distress. From
this set up, Lewis akin to his

Stonehenge
The relationship between the British Neolithic society and the Stonehenge is that the ancient society
towards the end of their stone age made this monument that still has no clear reason why the
Stonehenge was built. Many archeologist from many generations have visited the British Isles to
discover more information about Stonehenge. The carbon dating of the mystifying structure dates
back between 6000 4500 BP. Many have drawn a grand explanation that Stonehenge was built as a
place for the live while Dorrington wall located not far from Stonehenge was the place of the living,
which was used for ritual purposes and was based off of the rising of the sun and falling of the sun
every 6 months. There are lines of evidence that makes this a solid ... Show more content on

With the use of this new tech and many archeologist question how these 90 stones buried are still in
good condition when it is shown on the radar data.
A gran explanation that I could make is that the British Neolithic society has been building
monuments is that Durrington wall was used as a place for the living that could date back before
Stonehenge was built. The lines of evidence I can draw is that due to the advance technology that
archeologist were able to find that newly discovered monument is still standing, but is buried an
reason for this could be due to a nature or land build up from how long ago this could date back to.
How this could be tested that the hidden monument came before possibly Stonehenge is that with
further technology one day we could be able to do carbon dating without excavating the site that could
mess up so much. I believe that is we can make a drill that is long , but small enough to get the where
the stones are and be able to test it that way will one day be possible for now I recommend that leave
the buried stones alone until we have the best tech to deal with the

BUS 370
20th November 2016 Wedding Project Plan Initiating
The Objective is to plan a wedding that will be timely, within budget, memorable and exclusive.
· Since we have identified the need, I need to create an RFP with all the requirements for a wedding
planner and to all suppliers and evaluate the most competitive and sign an agreement.
Assumptions
· The assumptions before taking on this project is that there s a partner and this will be a successful
marriage. The wedding is just the day to prove if the commitment is actually there.
· Another assumption is the working budget will be sufficient with the current rate price of goods,
services and inflation. There will be reviews along the way depending on the cost to estimate ratios.
· We will assume that the approval rate would be quick. We will complete the project on the due date
within the 5 months as planned after the engagement date.
· We will start with church marriage counseling for success tips beforehand to help with conflict,
differences and for mutual understanding on family, relatives, goals, dreams and inspirations. Planning
1. Small engagement party. We plan to have an engagement party at Palomino in Bellevue for 20
guests consisting of friends, family and some workmates Friday December 30, 2016 at 8 pm. We have
21 weeks to prepare before the wedding day.
2. The road map for the main wedding event begins with a series of activities based on

Licensing for personal trainers: legitimizing the profession. In its present form, personal training only
dates back a few decades, yet it is among the fastest growing professions in the U.S. (Holt). In the 80 s
and 90 s personal trainers were predominantly heavy lifters who looked like they could soon compete
in a bodybuilding contest. The muscular physique automatically qualified each of them as guru in the
fitness world and helped quickly build a clientele. Towards the late 90 s, the situation started to
change: gyms became less and less of an intimidating environment for a wide category of people with
no desire to become huge. Personal trainers of a new generation expanded their specialization to

You can easily hurt a client or worsen an existing condition by using inappropriate exercising
techniques and approaches. Once I ve seen a trainer who made his new client with swayback
(lordosis) do multiple low back exercises with significant weight. With such a spine condition you
have to be extremely careful when perform any activity involving low back and must primarily focus
on strengthening your abdominal muscles and back of the thighs in order to balance the inward
curvature of spine. As a result of that unconsidered workout the client had extreme back pains and
decided to stop training. Not only this could be prevented if a trainer had more knowledge about
lordosis (which is pretty easy to determine), but the client would be able to improve his back condition
with appropriate exercise routine. This example shows that some certification organizations fail to
provide the market with well qualified and knowledgeable professionals. They are not regulated by
state and often offer take home or on online tests which objectivity is questionable. Licensing, on the
other side, means a nationally standardized test and leaves no place for cheating. It is interesting to
note that Howard makes a comparison between personal trainers and other health professionals like
Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Physical Therapists and Registered Dietitians who

The Power Of Power In Machiavelli s The Prince The Medici was a very powerful family who started off as just a small family bank, but by using smart, cunning and risk taking tactics, they gained and kept control over Florence for the majority of the period of 1434 1737. Machiavelli was a political leader and author, living in Florence at the same time as The Medici, but wasn t very fond of them. For that, The Medici had him arrested and tortured, but despite that he went on and wrote a book called The Prince. The Prince is a short how to book with the intentions of it being something useful for anyone who understands it . The book describes Machiavelli s opinion on what he believes it takes to be an extraordinary prince, and how to gain and keep full control of the people; by using his personal experiences, observations and past historical events to prove his points. Although Machiavelli didn t like the Medici, the advice given in The Prince illustrates the actions of the Medici family, proving them to be powerful and extraordinary leaders. In The Prince, Machiavelli states that having the right skills and tactics will help you gain power. He writes that there are two ways to gain power; one becomes prince through some wicked and nefarious means , or when a private citizen becomes prince of his native city through the favor of his fellow citizens . Some of them even cheated the starting time by asking other people to log in the system in behave of them. During working hours, some employee may still hang around or chitchat or even enjoy his food. Ethical issue of employer: Did not pay for overtime to employees. Some employee had incomplete job. Some professors would chose based on which publisher they favorites the most or had been loyal to in the previous years. Other professors wanted cheaper books so that their students would not be required to pay more and have a higher chance of actually purchasing the material. Another trend Lindsol analyzed was that most professors were unhappy with their book selection after purchasing the book and using it for courses because the material was either outdated or not relevant anymore with the school s curriculum. In order to enter the market successfully, Lindsol realized that it would be very difficult due to the fact that original editorial business model had been successful for forty years but had failed to stay current with today s technology. Crafting the Strategy Lindsol had to identify problems in the industry and realized that there were several core reasons students did not like the shift publishers made from hard copy to electronic PDF files. The main reasons collected by college student surveys was that the devices used to read the books were cumbersome to use, they lacked tools like highlighting, and they preferred having a physical hard copy of the books for them to take notes. • 7. Imants Tillers Art Critical Analysis Mount Analogue is a post modern artwork by Imants Tillers painted in 1985. This work can be said to be a post modern piece as Tiller has utilised several techniques common to this style. Bricolage is the creation of a work from a diverse range of things that happen to be available. In this case, Tiller, out of necessity, created his canvas board system. This particular artwork is an appropriation of the rather majestic painting North East view from the northern top of Mount Kosciusko by Eugene von Guerard, produced in 1863. Tillers has re contextualised the work and given it added value for the present time. Mt Analogue explores ideas of authorship and originality through his use of appropriation. He has ... He has a strategy of appropriating images from reproductions of artworks and other sources, and re working them. Each board is like a grain of sand on a beach, or stone on a mountainside all go to make up the whole. In painting his work, Tillers dramatically enlarged the scale of von Guérard s colonial image, creating a new work in its place. It is of a monumental scale when compared to the original. The new sizing meant that the image was at once more present to the viewer, giving the impression that one can enter the landscape, but also more abstract, due to the grid left by the canvas boards. Tillers painterly surface jar with the parts of the boards that don t quite match, forcing the viewer to see this as appropriation, the illusion of space, the changes in perspectives. Tillers copies the form and line of the original piece, following an organic, natural shape and line. The shapes are irregular, yet the canvas board system distorts the overall image to give a muted geometric feel. They boards give strong angles and create a sense that a grid has been laid over the environment. The organic shapes create forms that are three dimensional, giving depth to the mountain landscape. A sense of balance is achieved between the stormy sky and the rugged mountain tops. The texture of the sky also contrasts with the texture of the landscape. In fact, in Saudi Arabia, women could not drive until late September of this year! Similarly, in Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, societal pressures push, the protagonist, Esther Greenwood to act in a particular way. Esther grows up in a small town and goes to New York for an internship for journalism. Through this opportunity she learns that she must act like an ideal woman of the time. Yet, she enjoys things that are out of the normality. This causes her to lose who she is and who she wants to become. In The Bell Jar, Plath reveals that strict women s standards may cause a loss of self. In the novel, women are upheld to a typical standard of how to act in public. For example, in the past and even in the twenty first century all over the world; women must dress a certain way. Using imagery Sylvia Plath describes how women have to look and act in society. Women ...had to wear hats and stockings and gloves to class (Plath 4). The author continues to say that the ladies who were out of school got jobs as secretaries. These secretaries are wandering around New York looking to marry to a man with money. The author illustrates how women have to dress and act a specific way which Esther did not conform with. She wanted to be a successful writer with or without a husband. The strict standards women obliged to leads to Esther losing her true identity. Society pressures women to act in a specific way. ... As the cost of living increases, people need to keep up with their earning. Since it is not always possible to keep earning more through promotion, people decide to get second or third jobs in their free time to make extra money to support their life and family. Even though making extra money is beneficial to everyone, people give up on their free time, take more responsibility, and spend more energy. As a result, their stress level increases exponentially. In order to earn more money in the short term, people end up getting more stressed because it is accumulated in the long term (Matteson Ivanceivch, 1987, 40). E. Situational Constraints Situational constraints occur when an employee`s environment inhibits him/her from performing properly. Important support personnel are usually fired first in case of budget cuts. Even though their job may seem unimportant at first, they are crucial to the workplace. For instance, there could be many information available for a person to finish his/her job; however, having a technical difficulty and not having anyone to fix this issue would cause time loss. In your view, how relevant is an organization s culture and value system in achieving the objectives of a system of internal controls? The system of internal control is an essential process for both public and private sectors. It is a system which must be implemented to ensure due diligence is exercised during the transactions of the corporate business within all applicable laws and regulations. • 25. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance Surveillance One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was a French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about 1600 as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society. Foucault believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many contemporary surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules of proper conduct and behavior are internalized by members of society. Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance. Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to a mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus, criminals become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather than killing them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of surveille. Surveillance is not only used to monitor those that committed a crime, but those that might not. Therefore, preventing crime in the first place and reducing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These groups of people also represented the social stratification of the new society, which had just emerged from rapid industrialization. The farmers were losing large amounts of money that they desperately needed. The tariff on manufactured goods vexed the farmers because even though their own profits were decreasing, the prices of important manufactured goods were not due to absence of foreign competition. The farmers were further bothered by the domestic marketing system which allowed numerous middlemen to take large shares of the profit of agriculture. There was a shortage of credit, which made it difficult to finance the construction of necessary improvements. The farmers were plagued by numerous natural disasters including tornadoes, floods, and droughts. These conditions, which could destroy property and crops, also provided a difficult environment to grow crops. If the crops could not be grown, the farmer had no means of supporting him and his family. After a boom in the mid 1880s, the population of western farm states increased enormously. This large influx of people contributed to the destruction of open range cattle raising. A prolonged drought following these boom years devastated the farmers and many soon returned East with no money and low morale. Immigrants did want, in fact, to become Americans in every sense of the word, not just in terms of the ability to achieve a measure of economic prosperity. Immigrants and refugees are entrepreneurs, job creators, taxpayers, and consumers. According to Center for American Progress They add trillions of dollars to the U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, and their economic importance will only increase in the coming decades as America s largest generation. In 1607, the English founded their first permanent settlement in present day America at Jamestown in the Virginia Colony. Once a person blood supply stops and their respiratory system shuts down, decomposition begins immediately (What Are The Four Stages of Human Decomposition, 2017). As a result, bodily fluids and gasses are released from the body into the air and emanates a distinctive smell which attract insects. When insects are present at the scene of the crime, investigators rely on forensic entomologists to observe various type of insects for the estimate time of death. The type of insects that are located on the dead body and the surrounding area depends on the geographical location such as urban and rural areas, and environmental temperatures. One of the most common type of insects that a forensic entomologist will notice is a blowfly. A blowfly can withstand any type of environmental temperatures in all geographical areas. Blowflies are attracted to fresh dead corpses and can indicate that the victim s death just occurred. However, the presence of maggots feeding on the flesh of the body can inform entomologist that the blowfly laid eggs and the body has been there for some time. Maggots are important because they must complete a life cycle to transform into blowfly. The blow fly life cycle has six parts, and each cycle various in time of completion. To figure out what time the death occurred, entomologists would examine a maggot that is more developed than the others. On the other hand, if there are empty pupal cases collected from the body, entomologists can determine that a fly has completed an entire life cycle and the body was there for one hundred and forty three hours (Life Cycle of the Blowfly, 2014) or 6 days. As a matter of fact, Alice in Wonderland has as much to do with its author as it has to do with creativity. Lewis Carroll s beliefs are written all over the story as one navigates through the alternate reality he presents in the novel. Before exploring the evidence of Lewis Carroll s spiritual beliefs in Alice, it is important to understand what actually constitutes Lewis Carroll s beliefs. Notably, other than being an author, Lewis was an Anglican clergyman, a mathematician and a talented formal logician. Other than studying at Christ Church Oxford, he went ahead to lecture at the same institution (Auerbach, 1973). Indeed, this brief history presents an individual whose life is deeply founded in religion. Conventionally, religion is founded on three fundamental principles, that is, the existence of an alternate reality, belief in supernatural force, and of course, the conquest of good over evil. These form the foundations of religion and are indeed, the very tenets upon which Alice in Wonderland is founded. As a matter of fact, in his book The Gospel in Disney, Longfellow (1993) asserts that Christian lessons are learned from Alice in Wonderland.
