IUCN sudah memasukan dugong kepada status vulnerable begitu juga di CITES yang memasukannya kedalam Apendiks 1 pada tahun 2007, dan di Indonesia sendiri, dugong berstatus dilindungi berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah No 7 tahun 1999 tentang Pengawetan Satwa dan Tumbuhan. Dengan status dilindungi, artinya dugong beserta bagian tubuhnya, tidak boleh ditangkap, diperdagangkan, menyimpan, dan mengkonsumsinya.
Pemanfaatan bentuk lain masih bisa dilakukan yaitu melalui pemanfaatan non ekstraktif seperti dalam bentuk wisata, pendidikan, dan penelitian. Kiswara (2016) menghitung nilai ekonomi dari satu ekor dugong, apabila diperdagangkan atau dikonsumsi hanya Rp 6 juta saja, namun apabila dijadikan kegiatan wisata, nilainya dapat mencapai Rp 6 milyar.
Konservasi melalui pelesatarian dugong diperlukan sekali, selain tindakan pelesatarian terhadap individu dugongnya juga diperlukan pelestarian terhadap habitatnya yang berupa padang lamun.

Polychaetes of Gulf of Mannar, South East Coast of India
Gulf of Mannar is a suitable environment for the study of Polychaetes with special reference to their systematics, spatial and temporal distribution. It has a number of islands and estuaries and a variety of environments such as, mangroves, coral reefs, pearl oyster beds, sea weed and sea grass beds. Hence, a study was conducted for 2 years by collecting samples from 21 stations covering all the ecologically important locations such as, 13 sea bottoms surrounding the islands, 4 estuaries, 3 intertidal regions, and 1 backwater using standard methods. A total of 49 species were identified, out of which 34 are found to be new records to the area. If we take this and the earlier reports in to consideration the total number comes to 144 species and 33 species up to genus level. ABSTRACT- Lizardfishes are commercially important group of species contributing to the fishery in the Indian EEZ. Information on predation, prey-predator relationship and their assessments in respect of Saurida tumbil and Saurida undosquamis have been derived in this study. A total number of 1630 specimens of S. tumbil and 926 of S. undosquamis were used for stomach content analysis. The specimens of S. tumbil examined in the study ranged between 13.0-53.0 cm (TL) and of S. undosquamis 13.0-41.0 cm. Qualitative and quantitative analysis revealed that the species S. tumbil prefers food in order of abundance as a teleost fishes (41%), molluscs (9.16%), shrimps (3.64%), crabs (1.41%) and squilla (0.37%) and S. undosquamis prefers teleost fishes (49%), molluscs (11%) and shrimps (3%). In S. tumbil, the highest feeding intensity observed in July (50%) and in S. undosquamis, in October (41%) and the lowest intensity recorded in the month of June for both the species. Monthly Gonado Somatic Index (GSI) shown that the highest feeding was observed in January (10.55%) and July (10.76%) for S. tumbil whereas, in case of S. undosquamis, the GSI was highest in August (16.58% for males and 17.80% for females). The pieces of sand granules, detritus and benthic organisms in the stomachs of the species indicating the benthic nature at the sea bottom in the search of food. Occurrence of juvenile lizardfishes in gut contents of both the species indicates that the lizardfishes are cannibalistic in nature.

This study provides a first documentation and taxonomic identification of A. lamellata in the waters off Thoothukudi.

Citizen science data from the Sea Turtle Spotter project on iNaturalist.org is being analyzed to understand sea turtle spatial distributions. The project collects sightings from observers to map locations and identify species. An honors thesis found over 300 observers submitted 800 turtle sightings between 1996-2017, mostly of green and hawksbill turtles near the U.S. and Mexico Pacific coast. Researchers download and analyze the data in ArcGIS to identify areas of research interest and map turtle habitat use.

- Landings in Spermonde Archipelago, Indonesia increased from 32,000 tons in 1977 to 53,000 tons in 1995 while fishing effort only slightly increased. However, standard effort measures are unreliable due to increasing motorization.
- Perceptions of fisheries authorities and fishers on fishery status seem to concur but they cannot find evidence linking catch and effort due to constraints and lack of variation in Spermonde.
- Co-management is not viable yet and data needs to be standardized and combined on ecological rather than administrative grounds to better inform management.
Biodiversity of gulf of mannar
The Gulf of Mannar is a shallow bay located between India and Sri Lanka that was declared a Marine Biosphere Reserve in 1989 due to its high biodiversity. It contains 21 islands and supports over 3,600 rare species, including corals, sea grasses, mangroves, sea cucumbers, whales, and sea turtles. The Gulf sustains local fisheries and has been impacted by activities like destructive fishing and pollution.
Waitabu eco tourism
In April 1998, a small indigenous community began one of the earliest Community-managed Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in Fiji, beginning a decade of commitment to protecting reef life for future generations. The project was a founder member of the Fiji Locally Managed Marine Areas (FLMMA) network, and one of the few FLMMA projects to include an
income-generating community-managed tourism operation.
Annual biological monitoring since the project’s inception, undertaken by a team of scientists and community members,
utilised in-water survey methods, including Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) for key invertebrate species, Manta Tows for
broad-scale habitat and invertebrate assessment, Point Intercept Transects for coral cover, and Fish Underwater Visual Census (UVC). These surveys demonstrated increased fish populations within the MPA after 3 years, and increased invertebrate populations after 5 years. Fish and invertebrates important to local subsistence and commerce are harvested in the spill-over area near the MPA. Some poaching occurs inside the MPA, so far not significantly impacting overall populations, suggesting the ecosystem is now adequately robust to withstand some harvesting.
Coral growth was retarded by a bleaching event in 2000, but herbivory has reduced macroalgal cover within the MPA,
creating better coral-growth substrate, accelerating coral settlement and recovery in comparison with heavily fished areas where macroalgae covers most available substrate, preventing new coral settlement. A small coral restoration project is thriving inside the MPA.
Socio-economic surveys have shown the MPA to have economic and social importance to the local inhabitants, and the value of the MPA as a reserve for conservation and future fish stocks has been reinforced by the income-generating potential of eco-tourism activities.

Evaluation of the oyster farming potential of the Cintra bay (southern Morocco)
The bay of Cintra is a marine ecosystem located in the southern Moroccan Atlantic known for its
biological richness and therefore for its high fishery productivity. This bay was chosen as a new destination for the
development of aquaculture in the southern regions of Morocco. To highlight its potential in terms of oyster
farming, a first rearing trial of triploid cupped oysters (Crassostrea gigas) as well as parallel monitoring of the
phytoplankton population and ecological parameters were undertaken. The results obtained showed that the oysters
adapt well to the conditions of the new environment where mortality was negligible, or even absent after a month
of launching. In terms of biological performance, the growth of individuals is continuous during the annual cycle
and after eight months the weight could reach 30.5 g which is a minimum weight for marketing. The AFNOR and
Lawrence and Scott indices showed a good physiological state and a better commercial quality of the oysters. The
filling rate of these oysters, with an average weight of 39.7g when lifting, is very high according to the Lawrence and
Scott index (126.3) and the average AFNOR index (around 21.8) rank them in the “Special” category.

The Growth of Oreochromis niloticus (2.6g initial average size) was studied in 100m2 earthen ponds for 180 days under tropical field environment. Varying fertilizing regimes consisting of Pennisetum purpureum (PP) and Musa sapientum (MS), two locally available weedy grasses were applied in duplicates in the experimental ponds, at the rate of 0.1-0.2 kg dry matter per m2 per day. Water quality parameters were monitored bimonthly between 8:00am-9:00am . Final average fish weight varied significantly (p<0.05) as follows: 43.85g, 35.5g, 59.5g, 24.9g and 50g, 2 respectively for PP, MS, MS+PP, T0 and T1. Corresponding daily growth were 2.2g/d, 0.1g/d, 0.3g/d, 0.1g/d and 0.2g/d. Survival rate equally varied significantly as follow: 60 %, 67 %, and 98 %, 70 % and 97 % respectively. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Mafia Island Marine Park in Tanzania at protecting fish populations compared to adjacent intensively fished areas. The densities, biomass, and sizes of the ecologically and economically important blackspot snapper fish were compared between the marine park and fished areas using underwater visual censuses and catch data. Results showed the target species was over four times more dense and its biomass was six to ten times higher inside the marine park. Individual fish sizes were also on average 37% larger in the park. Higher fish numbers and biomass correlated with greater hard coral cover and habitat complexity. This supports the role of marine protected areas in conserving habitats and fisheries.

Marcusenius senegalensis (Steindachner, 1870) is the dominant mormyrid in Niger River in Northern-Benin where this fish species constitutes an important component of artisanal fisheries. The current study documented the reproductive biology of M. senegalensis in order to contribute to management and sustainable exploitation. Monthly samplings were conducted between February 2015 and July 2016 using gillnets, cast net, and seine. Males dominated the population with a sex ratio of 1:0.96 in favor of males. Sizes at first sexual maturity were 167.89 mm-TL for males and 163.81 mm-TL for females. Monthly gonadosomatic index (GSI) averaged 0.12 ± 0.09 for males and 1.32 ± 1.56 for female and peaks recorded indicated that spawning occured from June to September. Fecundity were moderate to low (844 – 12,643 eggs) and significantly (p < 0.05) increased with total length and body weight. Thespecies showed egg diameters varying between 0.21 and to 1.77 mm and ovaries comprised oocytes at all stages of maturation indicating that M. senegalensis displayed a multi-spawning behavior. Marcuseniussenegalensis exhibited a demographic strategy between r and K, yet more inclined towards K-selected strategy. In Niger River, reproduction grounds were being severely degraded affecting recruitment and stocks. The current findings are valuable data to design a species management scheme that should includes spawning ground protection, species conservation and valorization and fisheries/aquaculture development.

In April 1998, a small indigenous community began one of the earliest Community-managed Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in Fiji, beginning a decade of commitment to protecting reef life for future generations. The project was a founder member of the Fiji Locally Managed Marine Areas (FLMMA) network, and one of the few FLMMA projects to include an
income-generating community-managed tourism operation.
Annual biological monitoring since the project’s inception, undertaken by a team of scientists and community members,
utilised in-water survey methods, including Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) for key invertebrate species, Manta Tows for
broad-scale habitat and invertebrate assessment, Point Intercept Transects for coral cover, and Fish Underwater Visual Census (UVC). These surveys demonstrated increased fish populations within the MPA after 3 years, and increased invertebrate populations after 5 years. Fish and invertebrates important to local subsistence and commerce are harvested in the spill-over area near the MPA. Some poaching occurs inside the MPA, so far not significantly impacting overall populations, suggesting the ecosystem is now adequately robust to withstand some harvesting.
Coral growth was retarded by a bleaching event in 2000, but herbivory has reduced macroalgal cover within the MPA,
creating better coral-growth substrate, accelerating coral settlement and recovery in comparison with heavily fished areas where macroalgae covers most available substrate, preventing new coral settlement. A small coral restoration project is thriving inside the MPA.
Socio-economic surveys have shown the MPA to have economic and social importance to the local inhabitants, and the value of the MPA as a reserve for conservation and future fish stocks has been reinforced by the income-generating potential of eco-tourism activities.

Evaluation of the oyster farming potential of the Cintra bay (southern Morocco)
The bay of Cintra is a marine ecosystem located in the southern Moroccan Atlantic known for its
biological richness and therefore for its high fishery productivity. This bay was chosen as a new destination for the
development of aquaculture in the southern regions of Morocco. To highlight its potential in terms of oyster
farming, a first rearing trial of triploid cupped oysters (Crassostrea gigas) as well as parallel monitoring of the
phytoplankton population and ecological parameters were undertaken. The results obtained showed that the oysters
adapt well to the conditions of the new environment where mortality was negligible, or even absent after a month
of launching. In terms of biological performance, the growth of individuals is continuous during the annual cycle
and after eight months the weight could reach 30.5 g which is a minimum weight for marketing. The AFNOR and
Lawrence and Scott indices showed a good physiological state and a better commercial quality of the oysters. The
filling rate of these oysters, with an average weight of 39.7g when lifting, is very high according to the Lawrence and
Scott index (126.3) and the average AFNOR index (around 21.8) rank them in the “Special” category.

The Growth of Oreochromis niloticus (2.6g initial average size) was studied in 100m2 earthen ponds for 180 days under tropical field environment. Corresponding daily growth were 2.2g/d, 0.1g/d, 0.3g/d, 0.1g/d and 0.2g/d. Survival rate equally varied significantly as follow: 60 %, 67 %, and 98 %, 70 % and 97 % respectively. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Mafia Island Marine Park in Tanzania at protecting fish populations compared to adjacent intensively fished areas. The densities, biomass, and sizes of the ecologically and economically important blackspot snapper fish were compared between the marine park and fished areas using underwater visual censuses and catch data. Results showed the target species was over four times more dense and its biomass was six to ten times higher inside the marine park. Individual fish sizes were also on average 37% larger in the park. Higher fish numbers and biomass correlated with greater hard coral cover and habitat complexity. This supports the role of marine protected areas in conserving habitats and fisheries.

Echinoderms are fundamentally good indicators of health and status of coralline communities in marine waters. In this study, the diversity and distribution of echinoderm species were determined in Babanlagan, Talisayan, Misamis Oriental. In total, 387 individuals were collected coming from classes Echinoidea, Holothuroidea, Asteroidea, and Ophiuroidea. The majority of individuals collected were Protoreaster nodusus, which is a good indicator of reef health while the least abundant echinoderm species was Acanthaster planci. The pattern of distribution of majority of echinoderms was a clumped distribution while the other groups followed regular/uniform distribution, which may be due to limited dispersal ability and availability and available food sources. Moderate species diversity was also observed and species were rather similar in abundance, shown by the evenness index. This suggests good marine health, even under the threat of gleaning activities, active fishing, and habitat destruction. It is recommended that follow-up studies are conducted especially regarding monitoring of echinoderm species, to further assess the health of the intertidal zone in Babanlagan, Talisayan, Misamis Oriental.

They are found throughout the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. In the Pacific, their range extends as far north as Alaska and south beyond the southernmost tip of New Zealand.
In the Atlantic, they can be found as far north as Norway and the Arctic Circle and south to the tip of Africa. They are mainly pelagic (open ocean) wanderers but migrate to tropical and subtropical coastal regions to mate and nest.(

In 1982, scientists estimated that there were 115,000 adult female leatherback sea turtles worldwide. Recent estimates have placed the number between 20,000 and 30,000 (Singh,2007).
Trends in Population:
The global population for this species was estimated to be 115,000 adult females in 1982. By 1996 this had been revised down to about 30-40,000. Leatherback populations in the Pacific and Indian Oceans have undergone dramatic declines in the past forty years. For example, the nesting colony at Terengganu, Malaysia went from more than 3,000 females in 1968, to 20 in 1993, to just 2 in 1993 - there are no signs of recovery.
Similar scenarios have occurred in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Mexico. Numbers of females recorded at four formerly major Pacific rookeries have declined to about 250 in Mexico, 117 in Costa Rica, two in Malaysia, and fewer than 550 in Indonesia(Anonymous, 2006)
Reproduction:
Leatherbacks mate offshore in shallow waters near the nesting area. The females dig their flask-shaped nests at night on sloping sandy beaches backed by vegetation. Six clutches can be laid in a season, with a 10-day period between nesting. The females may renest up to 7 miles from the first nest. An average clutch contains 80 to 85 eggs and incubation takes from 55 to 74 days. The 3-inch hatchlings emerge at night and head toward the ocean. The turtles reach sexual maturity at 6 to 10 years of age; the females nest every second or third year.
In the U.S., nesting occurs from about March to July. Female leatherbacks nest an average of 5 to 7 times within a nesting season, with an observed maximum of 11 nests. Most leatherbacks remigrate to their nesting beaches at 2 to 3-year intervals. (Department of energy and environmental protection, 2014)

It is the greatest threat for leatherback sea turtles, while they accidentally eat balloons and plastic bags floating in the water which they mistaken as jellyfish.

Overharvesting and illegal:
Egg collection on many turtle nesting beaches is a very serious threat, especially in Southeast Asia where a culture of legal egg collection leads to the removal of tens of thousands of eggs. This practice has contributed to the local extinction of leatherbacks in Malaysia. Within the last several decades extensive egg collection and the killing of adult turtles in Indonesia has resulted in huge population declines throughout the region. Despite protective legislation, many eggs produced each year in Central America are.

Resource management of coconut crab (Birgus latro) in liwo island, north malu...
Coconut crab (Birgus latro) has ecological and economical value that only found in the islands which influenced by the Pacific and Indian Ocean currents, including Liwo Island. The research was done to describe a resource management of coconut crab (Birgus latro) in Liwo island according to the distribution and biological analysis of coconut crab. Data sampling was conducted in February-September 2013, data collection consisted of littoral rainforest vegetation, microhabitat and biological condition of coconut crab (thoracic length, weight, sex and gonad maturity). The result showed that Liwo Island microhabitat condition support the presence of coconut crab. Species diversity of littoral forest vegetation was low. Vegetation was dominated by Calophyllum inophyllum, Erythrina variegata, Areca catechu, Maga (Magnoliopsida) and Pandanus tectorius. Coconut crab population size was 1153 crabs with population density 5 crabs/Ha. The range of thorax length 3-66.09 mm with average of thorax length 23.46 mm. Growth pattern was included in allometric minor. This population was dominated by adult coconut crab with developing reproduction organ followed by functionally mature reproduction organ. A smaller catchable amount of coconut crab indicated that the resource management sustainability was needed to regulate catchable amount and size that involved of local community and relevant institutions.

How to Build a Module in Odoo 17 Using the Scaffold Method
Odoo provides an option for creating a module by using a single line command. By using this command the user can make a whole structure of a module. It is very easy for a beginner to make a module. There is no need to make each file manually. This slide will show how to create a module using the scaffold method.

- 18. Conclusion GEF-Abu Dhabi dugong project is only as a trigger to conserve dugong from extinction in Indonesian waters. Cooperation between the relevant agencies (MMAF, LIPI, WWF, Universities i.e. IPB, UNHAS, UNSRAT, Private sectors, etc) to work together in efforts to create dugong conservation for the public welfare.

Editor's Notes
- Dugongs travelling is different way. Some come alone. Some come likely in family. A pair of cow-calf and a big herd.
- Mating behaviors occurred on shallow waters too. 3-4 times that we saw these behaviors. In general there are several steps of courtship behavior, however simply the male try to induce the female by touching her genital area with his mouth, then paring and coupling.
