The pharynx is a musculomembranous tube located behind the nasal cavity, oral cavity, and larynx. It is lined internally by mucous membrane and extends from the base of the skull to the C6 vertebra. The pharynx is divided into three parts - the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and laryngopharynx. It connects the nasal cavity to the oral cavity and larynx and continues below into the esophagus.
