The anterior compartment of the leg contains cutaneous nerves, superficial veins and lymphatics, and four muscles: the tibialis anterior, extensor digitorum longus, peroneus tertius, and extensor hallucis longus. It receives blood supply from the anterior tibial artery and nerve supply from the deep peroneal nerve. The extensor retinaculum passes deep to structures in the anterior compartment from medial to lateral, including the tibialis anterior, has, vessels, nerve, and muscles.
