Kristina Harvey
It takes hard work and a lot of energy to become an expert in the education world. There are
amazing teachers who would do anything for their students, but there are also teacher who are
just there to go through the motions. The best teachers are to ones who are passionate about what
they are teaching and would go out of their way to see their students succeed. Over spring break, I
had the opportunity to interview an amazing woman who is like a second mom to me. Her name is
Kristina Harvey. Kristina went to Walden University and Western University in Illinois to pursued a
degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduating at Western Kristian received her first job at

few of the key ones are trusting, flexible, compassionate, responsible, and enthusiastic. A teacher
must be flexible. Everyday a new curve ball will be thrown your way, but you just need to learn
to adjust and be flexible with your teaching. She said compassionate because this is a job with
children they deserve your undivided attention and care. A teacher must be responsible and have

Theodore Roosevelt s Childhood, And Ending With His Death
This Biography is on the life of Theodore Roosevelt. Beginning with his childhood, and ending
with his death. Describing in detail his early childhood, the author gives a good explanation of
what motivated the future President in his later years. The book also gives good insight into many
of Roosevelt s decisions during his adult years and political career, along with information from his
personal life, that many people may not have known. Theodore Rooseveltalso known as Teddy
Roosevelt, or Teedie, was born in New York City on October 27th, 1856, to Martha and
Theodore Sr. Roosevelt. He was the second child and first boy of four children. Beginning early
in his life Teddy Roosevelt was a very sick child contracting bronchial asthma when he was only
three years old. Teddy Roosevelt was born into an old, rich and Aristocratic family. Teddy and
his family lived in a small house that was given to his father by his grandfather Cornelius Van
Schaak Roosevelt(Donald, ). Teddy and his siblings were homeschooled along with a family
friend named Edith Kermit. Teddy learned many life lessons from observing his parents, and
close family growing up, and many of those lessons he kept with him his whole life. Teddy was
the only one of his siblings to make the decision to acquire a higher education(Donald, ), going to
Harvard University. After he graduated Teddy had several jobs, including assemblyman, Police

The benefits that the changes in the coffee culture bring are multiple and we see a coffee culture
highly adapted to the new trend. This dissertation can be useful for foreign coffee shops to gain
knowledge about the Swedish coffee market and its culture. New markets are opening through
cultural changes, so marketers and others searching for new marketing opportunities on the
Swedish coffee market should read this paper to get ideas, advices and inspiration.

Evaluation Of A Research Project
6.1 Introduction and overview
This section describes the methodology used for the research. It considers first the philosophical
position agreed for the research, then the methodology involved in the research. In this case, the
research was made up of a focus group, using a sample of young people and adults with LDD and
a small number of parents and carers who completed questionnaires. The methods of data analysis
were then documented, and the final section reflects on issues of validity and reliability.
6.2 Philosophical position
It is understood that all research is centred on the researchers motivating philosophical assumptions.
Smith and Wood s opinions are that worldviews and philosophical positions are the basis for making
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, these worldviews and philosophical assumptions are what researchers have endorsed
to carry out their research along with their chosen methodologies for the expansion of gathering
new knowledge in a given study (Frels and Onwuegbuzie, 2016). Therefore, to conduct and evaluate
any research, it is important for that reason to know what these assumptions are.
6.3 Epistemology foundationalism
It is explained that Epistemology is a term that describes the nature of knowledge and the means
of knowing; how we know what we know or what we conceive as a truth (Kuada, 2012, p.59) and
the way knowledge is created and constructed or revealed and fixed (Wisker, 2011).
Epistemology also provides a philosophical background for deciding what kinds of knowledge are
legitimate and adequate, which helps with the most novice of researchers who quickly select a data
gathering method as they are keen to get on with the job (Gray, 2011).
Positivism is seen as being concerned with gathering facts about a reality that is seen as real
(Silverman, 2006) in order to explain human behaviour (Bryman and Bell, 2011). In opposition to
this is interpretivism that seeks to understand human behaviour (Maylor and Blackman, 2005),
whilst constructionism holds the belief that as reality is socially constructed and subjective there
are multiple realities, Berger and Luckman

The Grapes Of Wrath
At the heart of every immigrant s experience is a dream a vision of hope that is embodied in his or
her destination (Gladstein, p. 685). In the novel, The Grapes of Wrath, it is portrayed that the
migrant s thoughts of an American Dream is/was a simple and straightforward notion: go west
(California), get employment and become rich. Little did they that know that an ideal and perfect
life was difficult to accomplish and it corrupted the minds of those pursuing it. The author, John
Steinberg, placed a lot of emphasis on the unachievable nature of the American Dream regarding
economic stability in the novel through the cross country migration of the Joads, their continuous
and unpredictable changes in employment and eventually, their failure to find the success they so
desired in California (Aghosh, Allentown, PA).
The novel, The Grapes of Wrath, is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Joads were going down something of a tricky intense street a way of escape from misery to
an uncertain Californian deliverance (Spangler). It can be reasoned that when the one and only
option is putting the family on the road to a foreign place, problems arise (Spangler) and the
Joads faced many problems. Connie, among his relatives, chose to accept reality rather than to
live in a fantasy pursuing the American Dream. For instance, Connie strikes out all alone... he then
forsakes the Joads adamant quest for ranch work for the open doors in the city (Bloom, p. 18).
Connie understood that pursuing the American Dream was an exercise in vainness and although
he ran far from the matters of money related uncertainty by leaving his significant other and child,
he was essentially doing what was reasonable and rather taken after a future that would best suit
him. While the Joads were on an endless excursion in search of the American Dream, they didn t
discover any jobs that suited their trust of a money related way of

Human Rights, Democracy, And Peace
In a few decades, the relationship between the environment, resources, and conflict may seem
almost as obvious as the connection we see today between human rights, democracy, and peace
(Nobel Peace Prize Medalist Maathai 2004). TransCanada, a Canadian company, has high hopes
of beginning to build an oil pipeline that would stretch close to 2,000 miles from Alberta, Canada
to the Gulf Coast of Texas. With the approval of construction, the pipeline, known as the
Keystone XL, would carry one of the world s filthiest fuels; tar sand oil. Tar sands oil alone has
levels of carbon dioxide emissions that are three to four times higher than those of conventional oil,
due to more energy intensive removal and refining processes (Friends of the... Show more content

The U.S. uses nearly 400 million gallons of oil every day moving people in automobiles, goods
on freight trucks, air travel, also rail and transit. Cars and everyday trucks use nine million barrels
of oil per day alone (Sierra Club Foundation). Oil poses major environmental problems, and the
world s heavy reliance on it for transportation makes it difficult to reduce consumption. Spilled oil
can harm living things because its chemical components are poisonous. This can affect organisms
both from internal exposure to oil through ingestion or inhalation and from external exposure
through skin and eye irritation. Oil can also smother some small species of fish or invertebrates
and coat feathers and fur, reducing birds and mammals ability to maintain their body temperatures.
The short term threat from heavy oils, like tar sand oil, comes from their ability to smother
organisms whereas over the long term, some long lasting health effects like tumors may result in
some organisms (Office of Response and Restoration). If animals like birds and otters become
drenched in heavy oil, they lose the ability to keep themselves warm and eventually die. The
Keystone XL supporters exhaust the idea that constructing of the Keystone will create thousands of
jobs. While that is partially true, the numbers are exaggerated and unemployment will only raise
half of what supporters

Differences Of Police Use Of Force
There are differences in attitudes towards the use of force by police. There are some groups that
support police and there use of force. There are also groups that find the use of force by police
excessive and biased. Carter and Corra (2016) studied white peoples opinions of police use of force
in association with their attitudes towards race. They found that ones opinions of race are related
with their opinions of policeuse of force. Racial resentment as measured by two criteria developed
by the researchers and three questions included negative affect and the belief that minorities are
lazy and lack motivation. If a participant had high racial resentment they were more likely to
support police use of force (Carter Corra, 2016). However, in a study conducted by Green, Eva,
Staerkle, and David in 2006 noted that support for use of force is also linked to political leanings
such as liberal or conservative. Furthermore an individuals views regarding financial and
economic issues also influences their beliefs about use of force (Green, Eva, Staerkle, David,
2006). These studies suggest that racial attitudes and political leanings can influence how an
individual views police use of force. Additionally, this could explain the differences in opinion
about police use of force.

Mybridge Comes To America Analysis
IntroductionDocumentary film, a term coined by John Grierson, the father of the documentary film
movement in the English speaking world, (Barsam, 1973, p. 77), concerns a genre that is unlike
other forms of cinema. There are no actors and the plot reveals itself in authentic actions rather than
dialogue. The people concerned are the characters, their lives the setting. In the years leading up to
Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North, the first such feature length film, the medium was
immensely popular, with audiences clamoring to see the far reaches of the globe from their local
theater or exhibition house. While narrative film in the modern day is considered the default mode
of moviemaking, documentaries still capture the imagination and take the viewer into real lives
they have not experienced, rather than lives imagined on a page. Without these historic
documentaries, film itself may not have reached the heights of culture it inhabits today. The early
history of documentary filmis inseparable from the history of film itself.
Muybridge Comes to America The work of photographer Eadweard Muybridge is commonly
regarded as the origins of the cinema. Muybridge was an English emigrant to the United States
who settled in California during the Gold Rush. An entrepreneur like many of the area s new

Case Study Of Folklore, Myths And Fantasy
Fairytale, Folklore, Myths and Fantasy: A Case Study based on JK Rowling s Harry Potter series
Abstract
Fantasy is a genre of literature which gives flexibility and scope to the writers to explore their
thoughts. Fantasy depends upon the imagination and creativity of the writer. We can define fantasy
as a genre of literature that is far removed from reality, set in a world beyond our thinking such as
house on moon or any other planet, a place in the middle of ocean etc. The characters of fantasy are
often uncanny means these are non human creatures such as elfs, werewolves, giants, trolls,
dragons. Many fantasy stories include the elements of folklore and based upon the ancient or
cultural myths of the particular age or dynasty. This article... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We can say that myth plays an important role in constructing the plot of the fantasy work. Myth
means ideas, thoughts, and images that have the relationship with folklores, fairy tales, spiritual
stories, stories of Gods and legends. Donna Rosenberg has expressed her thoughts on myths in her
introduction to the World Mythology, Myths symbolize human experience and embody the
spiritual values of a culture....Some explain origins, natural phenomenon, and death; others
describe the nature and function of divinities; while still others provide models of virtuous
behaviour by relating the adventures of the heroes or the misfortunes of arrogant humans.(xv)
Myths and folklores have a broad range of functions in fantasy literature. In his article Folklore
and Fantastic Literature, C.W. Sullivan III mentions the functions of myth that is particularly
important to second world, or high fantasy. J.R.R. Tolkien has made a great use of fantasy in his
On Fairy Stories. It is not easy for one to think fantasy literature without taking into consideration
the fairytale. Max Luthi states that The fairytale is a universe in miniature. (25) Fantasy is a
very creative art which requires skills and perfection otherwise it would convey adverse effect.
Tolkien thinks that fantasy is not a lower but a higher form of art, indeed nearly the most pure
form, and so (when achieved) the most potent. (On Fairy Stories 45) When creating a fantasy,
writer uses it as an art and takes the fantasy very seriously. Fantasy must not to be made fun of, in
doing so it loses its power and

Success Of Friend Z s A Regional Based Coffee House
The success of Friend Z s, a regional based coffee house in the United States, is in its tenth year
of business. The small business venture, which began as a cooperative college project, has grown
into one of the best coffee houses on the college scene. Friend Z s success has sparked the interest
of its partners to take their small businessto the next level by expanding into the global market.
Competing globally would allow Friend Z s Coffee House to take advantage of a larger customer
base, opportunity to be a stronger competitor, and thrive in diverse environments. Friend Z s
international business will increase their client base with every new opening. They are not
restricted by location or tied a region with failing economics. Therefore, opening Friend Z s to the
option of an online market. Friend Z s will be able to rise as a stronger competitor in the coffee
market, especially in countries with fewer competitors. The presentation of the coffee house will
be crucial for becoming comparable or communicating its uniqueness. Friend Z s existence in the
global market opens up their business worldwide. This business move releases dependency on the
local or regional market in the United States, reduces growth restraints, and allows movement
from potential economic unrest. The advantages of Friend Z s beginning a global business are
promising, but it would be wise to consider the possible negative factors before going global.

The Oppression Of Women In To The Odyssey And To The...
We see gender roles described in The Odyssey and To The Lighthouse that seem to share some
similar ideas; however, the women in To The Lighthouse are more opressed than the women of
The Odyssey. First, women in the Odyssey are typically submissive to men in house duties and
marriage matters, like Telemachus telling his mother to get back to her loom in Book 1 and him
deciding who his mother will marry in Book 2. Also, women are seen only by their identity of who
their father or husband is, like the ghosts of women who approach Odysseusat the gates of the
Underworld in Book 11.
With To The Lighthouse, we see Charles Tansley constantly downs women, like a representation of
the oppression in the 1920s, saying women s silliness made being civilized

Five Forces Analysis Of Nestle
Industry Environment Five Forces I.Threat of New Entrants Moderately High The food
processing industry is very large and competitive; it is not uncommon for firms within the
industry to do quite well. As a result, many companies enter into the market every year in an
attempt to gain a portion of the profitable market. Luckily for NestlГ©, the company has been
around for decades and boasts a long history of quality products and consumer satisfaction, which
has allowed the company to obtain a considerable share of the market. It is demonstrated in
accelerated investment activity in the 2000 s which indicates long term commitment in markets
where Nestle operates, and construction of 16 factories from 1993 2006 in China to meet
consumer demand. As a result, new entrants into the industry must attempt to seize a portion of
NestlГ© s market share in order to survive. However, over the years, new entrants with healthier
alternatives have threatened the status quo in markets like Asia, Africa and the United States.
Economies of Scale Nestle enjoys massive economies of scale because of its size. Nestle has
increased production while maintaining low cost through fewer factories. This strategy has
positively contributed to Nestle working capital. This advantage of economies of scale is made
possible because of Nestle s unmatched number of factories around the world. The Swiss giants
owns 418 factories in 81 countries. This is how Nestle has effectively managed to localize

Women s Rights Movement Analysis
With astonishing inventions such as the cotton gin, the telephone, and the airplane, the industrial
revolution provided major improvements throughout Europe in the 1800s and early 1900s. As
factories spread like wildfire and working hours grew like weeds, new concerning conditions arose.
Child laborers, lack of minimum wage, and indescribable working conditions motivated the
proletariat to speak out for their rights. Events such as the Franchise Act and Chartist Movement
eventually created workers rights in Europe. In accordance with the mass production of steam

As the Crimean War broke out in the 1850 s amongst Russia, the Ottoman Empire, Britain, and
France, Russia s desire for more territory was crushed by the industrialized western nations. With
Britain s access to coal and the west s constant competition, inventions such as the minie ball,

nationalism. Even though countries like Britain and France had been industrializing and creating

Furthermore, the Crimean War dealt with ancient warfare, such as horses, and modern warfare,
such as newly industrialized guns. Likewise, innovative warfare presented itself again in The

Analysis Of On Death Row, But Is He Innocent
In On Death Row, but Is He Innocent? Nicholas Kristof explores the position that the evidence
that convicted Kevin Cooper, an inmate on death row in San Quentin State Prison, may be
unreliable. In 1983, a California professor drove to his neighbor s house to pick up his eleven
year old son. He peered through the window to find the house in a state of bloody disarray.
Amongst the blood was the bodies of his neighbor s family and the lifeless body of his son.
Additionally, the professor Joshua Ryen who was stabbed multiple times, but still clinging to life.
Kristof highlights the overwhelming evidence of policetampering with evidence that sent Kevin
Cooper to death row. Additionally, Kristof suggests evidence as to Cooper s innocence was not
given proper scrutiny. Therefore, Kristof alleges Cooper s case, particularly the evidence, should be
reviewed. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger denied this request. Although as Attorney General of

Essay About Jamu
Origin of Jamu The usage of jamu has been known since pre history, where the historical
evidence supporting the origin of jamu in Indonesia can be traced through the discovery of stone
tools during the periode of Neolithic and Mesolithicum ages in the form of lumping which has
been used by our ancestors to process the food and jamu. Initially jamu is only consumed by the
royal family that can be seen from the origin of the word jamu derived from Djampi, ?kromo
inggil? of Javanese languagee, and Oesodo (Djampi means magical spells, while Oesodo means
health). Jampi jampi means the incantation of shaman while using herbs that combined with prayer
and spells. And the word of m?njampi means ?to cure by magic?. This means when shaman makes

According to Selo Soemarjan (1996), from prehistory to modern era there are four stages in the

fact, the Renaissance of European medicines in the seventeenth century was mostly based on the

Examples Of Being An Outsider In Society
What is an outsider? An outsider is a person who is not excepted by or is isolated by society. Have
you ever been an outsider ? Everyone experiences a situation where they weren t able to fit in.
The feeling of not being able to fit it is universal. Not everyone is the same and in certain situations
you may not be able to bond with everyone. Everyone is focused on being judged or being the
person who is judging someone. If you are not like everyone in your society group, those people
don t except you. Nowadays our society feels that if you aren t up to people s expectations, you are
known to be an outsider . Being an outsider is universal because not everyone is social, not
everyone can afford nice things and not everyone is popular. In our society everyone expects to be
the same, however, no one is ever going to be the exact same. Everyone has different beliefs and
different interests. Today people judge the nice stuff people can afford and the way people dress. In
the story, The Doll s House , there were two girls known as the Kelvey sisters and they were really
poor. They were dressed in bits given to her by the people for whom she worked (Mansfield 203).
Nowadays people judge you on appearance and if you are dressed sloppy you are more likely to be
made fun of. If you cannot afford the up to date things people have a reason that they don t want
to talk to you. If you are wealthy you are more likely to be judgmental. Not all people are like this

Examples Of Supreme Court Cases
Disclosures, Lies and Liabilities: A Case to Tell the Truth
Integrity is one thing that must remain unscathed throughout the career of a law enforcement
officer. It means being morally upright and having the quality of being honest (integrity, 2016).
Trustworthiness, virtue, righteousness, honor, and honesty describe what it is to be a law
enforcement officer. These are the attributes communities expect of the men and women who take
an oath to protect them. Three United States Supreme Court cases deal with lying and the
liability it presents for law enforcement agencies. These cases are Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83
(1963), Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 150 (1972), and United States v. Agurs, 427 U.S. 97
(1976). The decisions in these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All three cases presented here deal with the disclosure of evidence by the prosecution. A court trial
is the pursuit of truth that results in a verdict of guilt or innocence depending on the evidence the
prosecution and defense present to the Court. When the prosecution fails to disclose evidence that
is exculpatory, then where is the whole truth? Revealing all evidence is necessary to see the whole
picture of what really happened. In Brady v. Maryland, the prosecution purposely omitted
evidence. In Giglio v. United States, the prosecution failed to disclose an arrangement where there
were concerns about the reliability of the witness. In United States v. Agurs, the prosecution again
failed to disclose exculpatory evidence. The Court held that all three cases resulted in the violation
of the Due Process Clause from the failure of such disclosures. Law enforcement officers are part
of the prosecutorial process. They submit the evidence they gather to the prosecuting attorneys for
presentation at a trial. If a law enforcement officer fails to submit all evidence, destroys evidence, or
lies about evidence, then he or she is lying about the case they investigate. Defense attorneys will
question the credibility and intent of the officer and prosecution if the intentionally exclude
evidence or lie about the evidence that gathered. If any court finds an officer untruthful in the
presentation of evidence, then their credibility and integrity is lost. Cases following

The Death Of The Nazi Party

Twelve
Twelve. The age where boys around the world go to junior high for the first time. The age where
some boys have braces on their crooked teeth. The age where the voice of some boys becomes
deeper. Twelve for me means none of that. Twelve marks the year when a member of the Nazi party
could knock on our door and take me away. Twelve marks the age that I might never see my family
again.
Growing up with the frenzy of the war outside my bedroom window seized my childish qualities
and innocence away from me. I do not have the option to play in the street like the others. I
cannot casually walk in the Berlin plaza freely, as it seems that every five seconds a Nazi soldier
stops to question me. I have seen guiltless people shot to death on the sidewalk by ruthless soldiers
under Adolf Hitler s command. I have seen brainwashed boys that I used to go to school with do
the dirty work for Hitler. I have seen things that the little boys and girls in America have not even
seen in their nightmares.
Being only eleven years old, I cannot remember the day my older brother went with the soldiers.
They took him to a camp in order to train in order to be like them. I really only know what my
parents told me, and they don t know that much either. The whole situation still remains a
conundrum, and now it seems that my brother became like those before him, cold and lifeless.
It alarms me that in two

The Problem Of The Cancer War
It is said that three in five Americans will develop the horrible disease called cancer. Any living
thing on this planet has the possibility of developing this uncontrollable disease. This includes
scientists, medical doctors, regulators, owners of drug companies, along with their loved ones,
meaning that they aren t immune to cancer( Big ). Many people in our society claim that the
medical industry, along with the government, is keeping the cure to cancers suppressed. In

conspiracy has been around for quite some time and it s mostly because some believe that the

They can get cancer as easily as any nonmedical person would. As a result, there is no way these
doctors would keep quiet if the cure to cancer was out there due to the fact they aren t heartless
robots who would let a loved one die knowing that they could get their hands on the one thing
that could save them. There are many oncologists who are in the business to honestly help and
make a difference in the world. Michael Higgins, a cancer patient, states in an interview I have
been fortunate because almost all of them have been remarkably compassionate and caring
people. At least one of them was motivated to pursue cancer research by the loss of a close
relative. This makes it evident that there are doctors who have dedicated their career to working
hard, conducting research, and trying to find the end to this horrible disease. If the cure was really
out there, then there wouldn t be so much effort given by doctors. Instead the industry would be
more laid back and nonchalant but, that isn t the case. Just like there s evil in this world, there is
also good (Michael Higgins).
While it seems to be that the conspiracy cannot be true, it is very evident why some had hope that
the conspiracy was true. The main reason some believe this conspiracy is true is because cancer is
a multi billion dollar industry. Many are wrapped up in this idea that the medical industry, along
with the government, is only out to get money. There are many who

Archetypal Theory In Pygmalion
Ever since we were little children we have been able to see the world around us. We noticed that
there are colors and images but we never truly knew what they meant. Then, we were brought
into school where we were then taught what color is what color and how there are two types of
colors: light and dark. We were taught that the light colors usually mean happiness while the
darker colors represent sadness. Colors and images are how the idea of Archetypal Theory came to
be, helping us discover a deeper meaning within the text. After watching the movies My Fair Lady,
Princess and The Frog, and reading the book Pygmalion, I was able to discover how colors and
images help us better understand the character s journeys from rags to riches. At the beginning
of all three of these stories the characters start out as some nobodies, but then through the
archetypal theory thrown into these pieces so we see how they transform into becoming happy
and wealthy people near the end of the stories. At the beginning of all three of these stories, colors
help us understand who the characters really are. For all of these pieces we are able to see how
dirty and poor both Eliza and Tiana are starting off as. In Pygmalion, Eliza is described as having a
brown skirt with a coarse apron. Her boots are much the worse for wear. She is no doubt as clean as
she can afford to be (Shaw 1. 13). If we dig deeper into the meaning of this quotation we can see
what these colors truly mean. George Bernard

Nonverbal Communication In The Movie Erin Brockovich
Nonverbal communication covers all aspects of communication beyond words. It is anything from
body gestures to the way words are spoken. The tone, demeanor, hidden meaning behind words, mix
that with body language and what is creates in nonverbal communication elements. Even clothes
and personal appearance can send a nonverbal message. Nonverbal communicationaccounts for
nearly 65 93% communication means (Wood, 2014). One area where nonverbal communication
sent a negative, incorrect message is the movie Erin Brockovich. The clothing of the main character
sent the message that she was uneducated, white trash. This could not be further from the truth. She
was an intelligent, single mother who saw a problem where nobody else did.
Clothing can send a nonverbal message. A person dresses differently when going to an
adventure park than for an evening out on the town. What nonverbal rule did I break? I wore
less than appropriate attire to a funeral showing. One of my cancer patients lost her battle with
her disease. I learned of the viewing the day it was taking place. Due to the time and location of
the viewing I went directly from work to the funeral home. The short notice did not allow for me
to bring a change of clothes or go home prior.
How did I break the rule? The rule was broken by wearing the inappropriate attire. Even though
viewings are expected to be slightly less formal than the actual funeral there is still a level of
expectation of others. The expectation of someone being dressed in business casual. I would not
expect to see someone in their jeans and a t shirt or shorts at a viewing. I was still in my work
clothing which appropriate for the job task, no appropriate for the moment. Myself and my nurses
wore our scrubs to the viewing because we all had similar situations that would not allow for attire
change.
What were the reaction of others? The deceased sisters did not seem bothered by our wear. They
were aware that we might not have time to go home and change our clothes at the end of our day.
Due to their high involvement in the care of their sister, they had grown quite found on myself and

The Big gym located 7 miles away from my place of residence, and the Small gym, which is

the thriving culture of totalitarianism, symbolizing as a reflection of modern fact in the USA

Thorium is a silvery radioactive metal which was discovered in 1828 and is relatively common in
nature (see fig. 1) (World Nuclear Association). According to the World Nuclear Association,
thorium is about three times more abundant than uranium; an average average soil sample contains
about 3ppm thorium, making the element about as common as lead. In nature, thorium occurs only
as Th 232, which has a half life of about 3 times the age of the earth (World Nuclear Association).
Thorium has found use in the past in some objects such as light bulbs, lantern mantels, and some
ceramics as thorium oxide because of its exceptionally high melting point (see fig. 2) (World
Nuclear Association).
Estimates show there are over 6 million metric tons of thorium worldwide, which could be
extracted at a profitable rate, making the element a viable candidate for nuclear energy production

In response David Cameron said, I regret to say that I do not think there will be government

Which makes his motive immoral and pointless. The Conservative MP Simon Hart, welcomed

A Grand Gothic Torture Chamber in Edgar Allan Poe s Short...
Edgar Allan Poe s short story, The Pit and the Pendulum , uses the grand gothic setting of a
torture chamber during the Spanish Inquisition that contains a mysterious pit, symbolizing how
the absence of religion in the narrator s life makes him fear the unknown. Once the narrator
discovers the pit, he is filled with dread at the thought of falling into it: Shaking in every limb, I
groped my way back to the wall; resolving there to perish rather than risk the terrors of the wells,
of which my imagination now pictured many in various positions about the dungeon (Poe 7).
The narrator is a heretic, so he most likely does not accept the idea of life after death. He has
likely imagined various fates. Each pit that he has imagined in the room represents a different
fate, so he fears falling into them. In fact, the narrator fears falling into the pit more than any
other torture inflicted upon him. Poe writes, Neither could I forget what I had read of these pits
that the sudden extinction of life formed no part of their most horrible plan (7). Although the
narrator does not know himself what will happen to him after death, but no doubt he has read
about what happens to heretics after they die according to Christianity: they go to Hell, where
they are tortured for eternity. While his body would die, his soul, the source of his life, would be
trapped forever. If falling into the pit leads to this fate, the narrator would greatly fear it. Later in
the story the pit begins to

Was The Transition From Alcohol To Coffee Affected...
Coffee was already popular in the Arab world since the mid 1500s when Europeans smuggled in
coffee beans from an Arab port. The role of coffeehouses as meeting places sources of news was
also adopted by Europeans, and the respectable, intellectual, and non alcoholic environment
associated with coffeehouses helped coffeespread into Britain, Italy and France.
The transition from alcohol to coffee impacted Europe s development because it greatly increased
people s productivity. While alcohol compromised people s ability to think clearly and comprehend
things, caffeine sharpened the drinker s mind and allowed people to stay more alert, and therefore
more productive.
The massive demand for coffee beans created competition between many different

Luv Is Rage 2 Analysis
When Lil Uzi, real name Symere Woods, released his new single XO Tour Llif3 on September 4,
2017 the world knew something big was coming. Luv is Rage 2 was released later that year in
August. This album was Lil Uzi s sequel to Luv is Rage. He includes features from The Weeknd
and Pharrell Williams. Both of them are critically acclaimed for their own music. Lil Uzi s
album Luv is Rage 2 was one of the best albums of 2017. It will be remembered for its impactful
lyrics and varying song types on the album. His growth from the initial Luv is Rage album to
this one was truly visible in his songs. The top songs on the album were XO Tour Llif3, The
Way Life Goes, and Dark Queen. The album contains 16 songs overall, each with a different
message in them. XO Tour Llif3 had a deep emotional impact. In the song he uses the line
Shoulda saw the way she looked me in my eyes She said: Baby, I am not afraid to die. In this line
he references his ex girlfriend dealing with their relationship problems. He doesn t hold anything
back in this song which adds a sense of realness to his music.... Show more content on

He talks directly to his audience when he says I know it hurts sometimes, but you ll get over it .
I really like how this was written for those people who are currently stuck in a dark place. He
pours out his emotion into this song. He offers words of encouragement that the listeners can
and will succeed. After hearing this song, I instantly replayed it countless time to hear the
message You ll get over it . He positivity reaches out to the audience unlike many of the other
rappers today, many of which choose to focus on topics that are completely un relatable to their
audience. Lil Uzi s straight forward messages in each of the songs can easily be picked up and the
beat of the songs will keep you along for the

Speech On Monkey Mind
This surprisingly simple yet powerful trick will calm your monkey mind anytime, anywhere, with
little effort
Ever observed monkeys?
You would have noticed them jabbering non stop, slinging between tree branches, jumping,
scratching their body, combing the hair of other monkeys and what not.
The chances of finding them staying still are very rare. Maybe, when you offer them bananas, they
might calm down a bit. But soon they would become restless and fidgety.
Incidentally, you too have an in built monkey.
A monkey that s invisble, and dictactes your actions, your feelings, your happiness, and ultimately
your life.
Yes, we are talking about your mind. Always restless, incessantly chattering, wavering, and
imagining things, the nature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The United States Pharmaceutical Market Based On A Health...
Background: In the United States, healthcare is based on a health insurance model that is managed
mainly through private insurance. The private insurance is mainly sponsored by employers. Around
52% of the American population is covered by employer sponsored insurance and just 5% covered
by individual insurance. Public coverage of healthcare is provided through Medicare, Medicaid and
other programs run by both federal and state governments. Approximately, 27% of the population is
covered by these public arrangements and the remaining 15% is uninsured (Chu et.al., 2010). The
United States pharmaceutical market is mainly market based. Various health plans are aggregated
together by private payers, such as health insurers, managed care organizations and pharmaceutical
benefit managers and they purchase pharmaceuticals on behalf of their members. Often, differential
cost sharing, formularies and other methods are employed by these payers to influence prescribing
practices, allowing them to negotiate discounted prices from pharmaceutical manufacturers and
pharmacies (Chu et.al., 2010). Shared Risk Contracting Risk sharing occurs when two parties
identify a risk and agree to share the loss upon the occurrence of the loss due to the risk.
(Outsourcing Law.com, 2015). The parties should have a mutual interest in achieving the outcome
and they should agree to share the risks associated with achieving that. The sharing of risk is mainly
referring to cost containment (Chu et.

Edvard Munch The Scream Analysis
Specifically, are there artists whose creative practice might be viewed as art therapy? There are
artists that have used their art to work through pain and mental illness. Edvard Munch is best
known for The Scream , many of his other works also explore intense psychological themes. He
suffered from deep depression during his lifetime and his art often reflected events that happened to
him.
Sickness insanity and death were the angels that surrounded my cradle and they have followed me
throughout my life. (Edvard Munch; www.goodreads.com)
Many of Munch s other paintings also express the depressed and hopeless mood that tormented
him throughout his life, his obsession with death and his overwhelming fears. These include;
Blossom of pain Vampire Anxiety Death in the sick chamber Melancholy Self portrait in distress
The death bed . (See figure 2) The Scream by the Norwegian artist Edward Munch is the second
most famous image in art history, after Leonardo s Mona Lisa. There are actually four versions of
The Scream that Munch created in his lifetime. It has been suggested that the Scream is a self
portrait or that inspiration came from a Peruvian mummy that Munch saw at the World s Fair in
Paris in 1889. The following works were hand painted by Munch in poetic form on the Frame of
the 1895 version.
I was walking along a path with two friends, the sun was setting, suddenly the sky turned blood
red I paused, feeling exhausted and leaned on the fence there was blood and tongues of the fire
above the blue, black fjord and the city, my friends walked on and I stood there trembling with
anxiety and I sensed an infinite, scream passing through nature. (Edward Munch;
www.goodreads.com)
When looked at The Scream it seems like someone full of pain and unable to cope anymore, as
Munch suffered from anxiety and agoraphobia. Does the painting portray someone, screaming for
freedom or are they are in deep emotional pain and despair? When you look at the painting the two
main colours are orange and blue, how does the contrasting colours add to the overall impact? The
bright swirling sky and the person,

The Option of Cloud Computing
1.INTRODUCTION With the rapid development of processing and storage technologies and the
success of the Internet, computing resources have become cheaper, more powerful and more
ubiquitously available than ever before. This technological trend has enabled the realization of a
new computing model called cloud computing, in which resources (e.g., CPU and storage) are
provided as general utilities that can be leased and released by users through the Internet in an
on demand fashion. In a cloud computing environment, the traditional role of service provider is
divided into two: the infrastructure providers who manage cloud platforms and lease resources
according to a usage based pricing model, and service providers, who rent resources from one or
many infrastructure providers to serve the end users. The emergence of cloud computing has made
a tremendous impact on the Information Technology (IT) industry over the past few years, where
large companies such as Google, Amazon and Microsoft strive to provide more powerful, reliable
and cost efficient cloud platforms, and business enterprises seek to reshape their business models to
gain benefit from this new paradigm. Indeed, cloud computing provides several compelling features
that make it attractive to business owners, as shown below. No up front investment: Cloud
computing uses a pay as you go pricing model. A service provider does not need to invest in the
infrastructure to start gaining benefit from cloud computing. It simply

Slaughterhouse Five Themes
Slaughterhouse Five is a book that employs heavy themes to make the reader to not only delve
into a realm of thought but also into belief. The themes that the book seems to point to appear to
be free will, and human nature. The book seems to portray the idea that we are all destined for
something, and that no matter what choices we make it will always end the same. Due to this,
Kurt litters the book with religious messages, catholic prayers, inferences to the old and new
testament in the bible, and a very straightforward idea of a greater power (in this case the
tralfamadorians), in order to make the reader question if there is in fact destiny, free will. One
example referring to religion is part of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. The quote,

A Comparative Analysis of the Concepts of Science and...
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark and Rappaccini s Daughter both address the concepts of
science and nature and the conflicts that the two typically generate. The protagonists in both
stories feel that it is essential for them to do something in order to improve the persons they love.
Moreover, they appear to consider that they actually want to help the persons they love instead
of actually helping themselves by doing so. The women in the two stories focus on being as
good as they can possibly be in order for their lovers to appreciate them, but these men want
science to interfere and remove any type of problems that they discover in the women that they
love. Aylmer, the protagonist in The Birthmark was a successful scientist and philosopher
previous to marrying Georgiana, as he preferred to abandon his background in order to provide
his wife with everything she needed in order to feel loved. Science actually seemed to be worth
nothing when compared to Georgiana, and even though Aylmer paid great respect to his
background, he would rather focus on his wife. His love for his young wife might prove the
stronger of the two; but it could only be by intertwining itself with his love of science, and uniting
the strength of the latter to his own (Hawthrone). While it seems that Aylmer is happy with his
condition consequent to marrying Georgiana, it is gradually revealed that he is unable to abandon
his love for science. He encounters a significant problem as he comes

It considers first the philosophical position agreed for the research, then the methodology involved in the research. In this case, the research was made up of a focus group, using a sample of young people and adults with LDD and a small number of parents and carers who completed questionnaires. The methods of data analysis were then documented, and the final section reflects on issues of validity and reliability. 6.2 Philosophical position It is understood that all research is centred on the researchers motivating philosophical assumptions. Furthermore, these worldviews and philosophical assumptions are what researchers have endorsed to carry out their research along with their chosen methodologies for the expansion of gathering new knowledge in a given study (Frels and Onwuegbuzie, 2016). Therefore, to conduct and evaluate any research, it is important for that reason to know what these assumptions are. 6.3 Epistemology foundationalism It is explained that Epistemology is a term that describes the nature of knowledge and the means of knowing; how we know what we know or what we conceive as a truth (Kuada, 2012, p.59) and the way knowledge is created and constructed or revealed and fixed (Wisker, 2011). Epistemology also provides a philosophical background for deciding what kinds of knowledge are legitimate and adequate, which helps with the most novice of researchers who quickly select a data gathering method as they are keen to get on with the job (Gray, 2011). Positivism is seen as being concerned with gathering facts about a reality that is seen as real (Silverman, 2006) in order to explain human behaviour (Bryman and Bell, 2011). In opposition to this is interpretivism that seeks to understand human behaviour (Maylor and Blackman, 2005), whilst constructionism holds the belief that as reality is socially constructed and subjective there are multiple realities, Berger and Luckman ... In the novel, The Grapes of Wrath, it is portrayed that the migrant s thoughts of an American Dream is/was a simple and straightforward notion: go west (California), get employment and become rich. Little did they that know that an ideal and perfect life was difficult to accomplish and it corrupted the minds of those pursuing it. The author, John Steinberg, placed a lot of emphasis on the unachievable nature of the American Dream regarding economic stability in the novel through the cross country migration of the Joads, their continuous and unpredictable changes in employment and eventually, their failure to find the success they so desired in California (Aghosh, Allentown, PA). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The U.S. uses nearly 400 million gallons of oil every day moving people in automobiles, goods on freight trucks, air travel, also rail and transit. Cars and everyday trucks use nine million barrels of oil per day alone (Sierra Club Foundation). Oil poses major environmental problems, and the world s heavy reliance on it for transportation makes it difficult to reduce consumption. Spilled oil can harm living things because its chemical components are poisonous. This can affect organisms both from internal exposure to oil through ingestion or inhalation and from external exposure through skin and eye irritation. Oil can also smother some small species of fish or invertebrates and coat feathers and fur, reducing birds and mammals ability to maintain their body temperatures. The short term threat from heavy oils, like tar sand oil, comes from their ability to smother organisms whereas over the long term, some long lasting health effects like tumors may result in some organisms (Office of Response and Restoration). There are also groups that find the use of force by police excessive and biased. Carter and Corra (2016) studied white peoples opinions of police use of force in association with their attitudes towards race. They found that ones opinions of race are related with their opinions of policeuse of force. Racial resentment as measured by two criteria developed by the researchers and three questions included negative affect and the belief that minorities are lazy and lack motivation. If a participant had high racial resentment they were more likely to support police use of force (Carter Corra, 2016). However, in a study conducted by Green, Eva, Staerkle, and David in 2006 noted that support for use of force is also linked to political leanings such as liberal or conservative. • 10. Mybridge Comes To America Analysis IntroductionDocumentary film, a term coined by John Grierson, the father of the documentary film movement in the English speaking world, (Barsam, 1973, p. 77), concerns a genre that is unlike other forms of cinema. There are no actors and the plot reveals itself in authentic actions rather than dialogue. The people concerned are the characters, their lives the setting. In the years leading up to Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North, the first such feature length film, the medium was immensely popular, with audiences clamoring to see the far reaches of the globe from their local theater or exhibition house. While narrative film in the modern day is considered the default mode of moviemaking, documentaries still capture the imagination and take the viewer into real lives they have not experienced, rather than lives imagined on a page. Without these historic documentaries, film itself may not have reached the heights of culture it inhabits today. The early history of documentary filmis inseparable from the history of film itself. Myth means ideas, thoughts, and images that have the relationship with folklores, fairy tales, spiritual stories, stories of Gods and legends. Everyone experiences a situation where they weren t able to fit in. The feeling of not being able to fit it is universal. Not everyone is the same and in certain situations you may not be able to bond with everyone. Everyone is focused on being judged or being the person who is judging someone. If you are not like everyone in your society group, those people don t except you. Nowadays our society feels that if you aren t up to people s expectations, you are known to be an outsider . Being an outsider is universal because not everyone is social, not everyone can afford nice things and not everyone is popular. In our society everyone expects to be the same, however, no one is ever going to be the exact same. Everyone has different beliefs and different interests. Today people judge the nice stuff people can afford and the way people dress. In the story, The Doll s House , there were two girls known as the Kelvey sisters and they were really poor. They were dressed in bits given to her by the people for whom she worked (Mansfield 203). Nowadays people judge you on appearance and if you are dressed sloppy you are more likely to be made fun of. If you cannot afford the up to date things people have a reason that they don t want to talk to you. If you are wealthy you are more likely to be judgmental. • 24. Examples Of Supreme Court Cases Disclosures, Lies and Liabilities: A Case to Tell the Truth Integrity is one thing that must remain unscathed throughout the career of a law enforcement officer. It means being morally upright and having the quality of being honest (integrity, 2016). Trustworthiness, virtue, righteousness, honor, and honesty describe what it is to be a law enforcement officer. These are the attributes communities expect of the men and women who take an oath to protect them. Three United States Supreme Court cases deal with lying and the liability it presents for law enforcement agencies. These cases are Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83 (1963), Giglio v. All three cases presented here deal with the disclosure of evidence by the prosecution. A court trial is the pursuit of truth that results in a verdict of guilt or innocence depending on the evidence the prosecution and defense present to the Court. When the prosecution fails to disclose evidence that is exculpatory, then where is the whole truth? Revealing all evidence is necessary to see the whole picture of what really happened. In Brady v. Maryland, the prosecution purposely omitted evidence. In Giglio v. United States, the prosecution failed to disclose an arrangement where there were concerns about the reliability of the witness. In United States v. Agurs, the prosecution again failed to disclose exculpatory evidence. The Court held that all three cases resulted in the violation of the Due Process Clause from the failure of such disclosures. Law enforcement officers are part of the prosecutorial process. They submit the evidence they gather to the prosecuting attorneys for presentation at a trial. If a law enforcement officer fails to submit all evidence, destroys evidence, or lies about evidence, then he or she is lying about the case they investigate. Defense attorneys will question the credibility and intent of the officer and prosecution if the intentionally exclude evidence or lie about the evidence that gathered. If any court finds an officer untruthful in the presentation of evidence, then their credibility and integrity is lost. Cases following ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The age where boys around the world go to junior high for the first time. The age where some boys have braces on their crooked teeth. The age where the voice of some boys becomes deeper. Twelve for me means none of that. Twelve marks the year when a member of the Nazi party could knock on our door and take me away. Twelve marks the age that I might never see my family again. Growing up with the frenzy of the war outside my bedroom window seized my childish qualities and innocence away from me. I do not have the option to play in the street like the others. I cannot casually walk in the Berlin plaza freely, as it seems that every five seconds a Nazi soldier stops to question me. I have seen guiltless people shot to death on the sidewalk by ruthless soldiers under Adolf Hitler s command. I have seen brainwashed boys that I used to go to school with do the dirty work for Hitler. I have seen things that the little boys and girls in America have not even seen in their nightmares. Being only eleven years old, I cannot remember the day my older brother went with the soldiers. They took him to a camp in order to train in order to be like them. There are many oncologists who are in the business to honestly help and make a difference in the world. Michael Higgins, a cancer patient, states in an interview I have been fortunate because almost all of them have been remarkably compassionate and caring people. At least one of them was motivated to pursue cancer research by the loss of a close relative. This makes it evident that there are doctors who have dedicated their career to working hard, conducting research, and trying to find the end to this horrible disease. If the cure was really out there, then there wouldn t be so much effort given by doctors. Instead the industry would be more laid back and nonchalant but, that isn t the case. Just like there s evil in this world, there is also good (Michael Higgins). While it seems to be that the conspiracy cannot be true, it is very evident why some had hope that the conspiracy was true. • 29. Archetypal Theory In Pygmalion Ever since we were little children we have been able to see the world around us. We noticed that there are colors and images but we never truly knew what they meant. Then, we were brought into school where we were then taught what color is what color and how there are two types of colors: light and dark. We were taught that the light colors usually mean happiness while the darker colors represent sadness. Colors and images are how the idea of Archetypal Theory came to be, helping us discover a deeper meaning within the text. After watching the movies My Fair Lady, Princess and The Frog, and reading the book Pygmalion, I was able to discover how colors and images help us better understand the character s journeys from rags to riches. At the beginning of all three of these stories the characters start out as some nobodies, but then through the archetypal theory thrown into these pieces so we see how they transform into becoming happy and wealthy people near the end of the stories. At the beginning of all three of these stories, colors help us understand who the characters really are. For all of these pieces we are able to see how dirty and poor both Eliza and Tiana are starting off as. In Pygmalion, Eliza is described as having a brown skirt with a coarse apron. Her boots are much the worse for wear. She is no doubt as clean as she can afford to be (Shaw 1. 13). If we dig deeper into the meaning of this quotation we can see what these colors truly mean. Even clothes and personal appearance can send a nonverbal message. Nonverbal communicationaccounts for nearly 65 93% communication means (Wood, 2014). One area where nonverbal communication sent a negative, incorrect message is the movie Erin Brockovich. The clothing of the main character sent the message that she was uneducated, white trash. This could not be further from the truth. She was an intelligent, single mother who saw a problem where nobody else did. Clothing can send a nonverbal message. Due to the time and location of the viewing I went directly from work to the funeral home. The short notice did not allow for me to bring a change of clothes or go home prior. How did I break the rule? The rule was broken by wearing the inappropriate attire. Even though viewings are expected to be slightly less formal than the actual funeral there is still a level of expectation of others. The expectation of someone being dressed in business casual. I would not expect to see someone in their jeans and a t shirt or shorts at a viewing. I was still in my work clothing which appropriate for the job task, no appropriate for the moment. Myself and my nurses wore our scrubs to the viewing because we all had similar situations that would not allow for attire change. What were the reaction of others? Edgar Allan Poe s short story, The Pit and the Pendulum , uses the grand gothic setting of a torture chamber during the Spanish Inquisition that contains a mysterious pit, symbolizing how the absence of religion in the narrator s life makes him fear the unknown. Once the narrator discovers the pit, he is filled with dread at the thought of falling into it: Shaking in every limb, I groped my way back to the wall; resolving there to perish rather than risk the terrors of the wells, of which my imagination now pictured many in various positions about the dungeon (Poe 7). Each pit that he has imagined in the room represents a different fate, so he fears falling into them. In fact, the narrator fears falling into the pit more than any other torture inflicted upon him. Poe writes, Neither could I forget what I had read of these pits that the sudden extinction of life formed no part of their most horrible plan (7). Although the narrator does not know himself what will happen to him after death, but no doubt he has read about what happens to heretics after they die according to Christianity: they go to Hell, where they are tortured for eternity. • 44. The United States Pharmaceutical Market Based On A Health... Background: In the United States, healthcare is based on a health insurance model that is managed mainly through private insurance. The private insurance is mainly sponsored by employers. Around 52% of the American population is covered by employer sponsored insurance and just 5% covered by individual insurance. Public coverage of healthcare is provided through Medicare, Medicaid and other programs run by both federal and state governments. Approximately, 27% of the population is covered by these public arrangements and the remaining 15% is uninsured (Chu et.al., 2010). The United States pharmaceutical market is mainly market based. Various health plans are aggregated together by private payers, such as health insurers, managed care organizations and pharmaceutical benefit managers and they purchase pharmaceuticals on behalf of their members. Often, differential cost sharing, formularies and other methods are employed by these payers to influence prescribing practices, allowing them to negotiate discounted prices from pharmaceutical manufacturers and pharmacies (Chu et.al., 2010). Shared Risk Contracting Risk sharing occurs when two parties identify a risk and agree to share the loss upon the occurrence of the loss due to the risk. (Outsourcing Law.com, 2015). The parties should have a mutual interest in achieving the outcome and they should agree to share the risks associated with achieving that. The sharing of risk is mainly referring to cost containment (Chu et. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Edvard Munch The Scream Analysis Specifically, are there artists whose creative practice might be viewed as art therapy? There are artists that have used their art to work through pain and mental illness. Edvard Munch is best known for The Scream , many of his other works also explore intense psychological themes. He suffered from deep depression during his lifetime and his art often reflected events that happened to him. Sickness insanity and death were the angels that surrounded my cradle and they have followed me throughout my life. (Edvard Munch; www.goodreads.com) Many of Munch s other paintings also express the depressed and hopeless mood that tormented him throughout his life, his obsession with death and his overwhelming fears. These include; Blossom of pain Vampire Anxiety Death in the sick chamber Melancholy Self portrait in distress The death bed . (See figure 2) The Scream by the Norwegian artist Edward Munch is the second most famous image in art history, after Leonardo s Mona Lisa. There are actually four versions of The Scream that Munch created in his lifetime. It has been suggested that the Scream is a self portrait or that inspiration came from a Peruvian mummy that Munch saw at the World s Fair in Paris in 1889. The following works were hand painted by Munch in poetic form on the Frame of the 1895 version. I was walking along a path with two friends, the sun was setting, suddenly the sky turned blood red I paused, feeling exhausted and leaned on the fence there was blood and tongues of the fire above the blue, black fjord and the city, my friends walked on and I stood there trembling with anxiety and I sensed an infinite, scream passing through nature. (Edward Munch; www.goodreads.com) When looked at The Scream it seems like someone full of pain and unable to cope anymore, as Munch suffered from anxiety and agoraphobia. Does the painting portray someone, screaming for freedom or are they are in deep emotional pain and despair? When you look at the painting the two main colours are orange and blue, how does the contrasting colours add to the overall impact? The bright swirling sky and the person, ... • 46. The Option of Cloud Computing 1.INTRODUCTION With the rapid development of processing and storage technologies and the success of the Internet, computing resources have become cheaper, more powerful and more ubiquitously available than ever before. This technological trend has enabled the realization of a new computing model called cloud computing, in which resources (e.g., CPU and storage) are provided as general utilities that can be leased and released by users through the Internet in an on demand fashion. In a cloud computing environment, the traditional role of service provider is divided into two: the infrastructure providers who manage cloud platforms and lease resources according to a usage based pricing model, and service providers, who rent resources from one or many infrastructure providers to serve the end users. The emergence of cloud computing has made a tremendous impact on the Information Technology (IT) industry over the past few years, where large companies such as Google, Amazon and Microsoft strive to provide more powerful, reliable and cost efficient cloud platforms, and business enterprises seek to reshape their business models to gain benefit from this new paradigm. Indeed, cloud computing provides several compelling features that make it attractive to business owners, as shown below. No up front investment: Cloud computing uses a pay as you go pricing model. A service provider does not need to invest in the infrastructure to start gaining benefit from cloud computing. It simply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Slaughterhouse Five Themes Slaughterhouse Five is a book that employs heavy themes to make the reader to not only delve into a realm of thought but also into belief. The themes that the book seems to point to appear to be free will, and human nature. The book seems to portray the idea that we are all destined for something, and that no matter what choices we make it will always end the same. Due to this, Kurt litters the book with religious messages, catholic prayers, inferences to the old and new testament in the bible, and a very straightforward idea of a greater power (in this case the tralfamadorians), in order to make the reader question if there is in fact destiny, free will. One example referring to religion is part of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. The quote, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. A Comparative Analysis of the Concepts of Science and... Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark and Rappaccini s Daughter both address the concepts of science and nature and the conflicts that the two typically generate. The protagonists in both stories feel that it is essential for them to do something in order to improve the persons they love. Moreover, they appear to consider that they actually want to help the persons they love instead of actually helping themselves by doing so. The women in the two stories focus on being as good as they can possibly be in order for their lovers to appreciate them, but these men want science to interfere and remove any type of problems that they discover in the women that they love. Aylmer, the protagonist in The Birthmark was a successful scientist and philosopher previous to marrying Georgiana, as he preferred to abandon his background in order to provide his wife with everything she needed in order to feel loved. Science actually seemed to be worth nothing when compared to Georgiana, and even though Aylmer paid great respect to his background, he would rather focus on his wife. His love for his young wife might prove the stronger of the two; but it could only be by intertwining itself with his love of science, and uniting the strength of the latter to his own (Hawthrone). While it seems that Aylmer is happy with his condition consequent to marrying Georgiana, it is gradually revealed that he is unable to abandon his love for science. He encounters a significant problem as he comes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
